I was not expecting this hotel to be great, but I was pleasantly surprised. I had a lovely big bedroom with a sea view and everything was in perfect working order. The food was fine. The best bit was the pool area and it was right on the beach. There isn't much happening here but it is very relaxing for a short while.
I actually stayed in Nov 2015.Check in:Indifferent staff that were sometimes more concerned with their conversations with other staff than customers.Room:Two beds you have to push together and pray that you don't fall down between them(I did once for a very rude awakening)Air conditioner half in and half outside of room would sizzle when it rained and for most of my stay I unplugged it for fear of fire.(I told front desk of this and it fell on deaf ears)Cracks in walls etc but hey it's a 2*Food:Bland,watered down sauces. The best food was the omelettes which were made to order with fresh eggs.Make sure u get there right at opening or spend 15 minutes hoping they will wash cutlery for u to use after the first wave of people have eaten.Beach:Needs to be raked once in awhile.Lifeguard is useless(I had to save a friend drowning myself)Pool bar:My same friend spent 5 days in hospital from eating from it(enough said?)Watch out for prostitutes
Five of us (two from Vancouver and three from Edmonton) just spent a week here and really enjoyed ourselves! We all asked for the upgraded rooms and they were clean, with air conditioning, private balcony, fridge and a rain shower head in the bathroom. Pool chairs and umbrella's were always available as were chairs and umbrellas at the beach. The beach was great-always a nice breeze blowing and good swimming. We brought our own beach towels, coffee mugs and wine glasses. This was really nice so that we didn't have to drink out of the small plastic disposable glasses that were provided. Food was totally acceptable-lots of fresh fruit in the morning, fresh juice, omelettes made to order, toast, cheese - lots to choose from. Coffee from the main floor bar was the best- espresso, cappucinno, lattes. Lunch always had fresh fish, rice, chicken and lots of other choices. Dinner was good too - we tried the a la carte restaurant and it was good, we also ate out in Havana a few nights and had an excellent lobster dinner at a local restaurant right next door called Ranchon Don Pepe for 18 CUC. One day we strolled down the beach and had lunch at another local eatery called Cocal-great lobster as well-they close at 6:00 p.m. Warning though-they have no washrooms here!! We went to the Tropicana Show-highly recommended-we had a fun night. Getting into Havana is easy-free shuttle-local bus for only 5 CUC or a taxi-with our group of 5 a taxi worked great in the big,old style American cars!! We met up with Fernando who drove a 1958 Ford Edsel. He was super nice and drove us into Havana a few times. There is so much to see and do in Havana, that we felt that we barely scratched the surface. Hotel Atlantico was a good choice for us.
Great place to stay if you want to relax and see Havana. Havana is close enough to go for 1/2 day excursions or a night on the town.Entertainment staff tried very hard, learnt a little Spanish and some dance moves. My husband an I will be returning in May.A vacation is only what you make of it. Truly enjoyed ourselves.
worst hotel i have ever been to. 60 yrs old, little or no renovations done, dingy lobby, paint peeling off the walls, furniture broken, noone to help with luggage. hot and cold water came and went, mostly non existant, very bad plumbing, toilets not flushing, my door in my room had to be replaced because the door handle fell off. water leaking from ceiling into bathtub, no stoppers in sink or bathtub, water leaking from sink onto the floor daily. mirrors in sleeping area not cleaned in some time beach area a disaster, able to get into water only once because of high winds, huge waves, riptides visit from beach bum daily with his two dogs running on beach and laying under beach chairs, beach chairs were ready to dissolve anytime, i would not call this a resort, stopover to havana city maybe, spending two weeks in that run down hotel is definitely not recommended food servers didnt speak english, birds and flies all over the main cafeteria.(yep, they were there for every meal, only time you could get coffee or tea for lunch or dinner was to tip waiters. . cleaners and staff did the best they could under the circumstances .
