Upon check in, there is 1 lady who is extremely nice & explains everything! Was about 10 minutes and went to our room. Room was on old side, so of course everything outdated. Being was a short 4 day trip, I decided to keep the room. The maid , however, didn't clean it at all whatsoever. Only made the bed each day. The last day of trip she decides to freshen it up, etc for a tip. The restaurant was fine. Had a buffet which had lots of sales and a dessert table . Special restaurant needed reservations a day before, was very good.. Pool area was ok, didn't use the pool needed a paint job. pool bar was convenient but the bar maid had an attitude. This hotel right on the beach. best beach ever. Extremely clean, and calm waters. Was beautiful sunsets every day. Free shuttle bus to Old Havana was a plus. We brought our own plastic cups large, because the drinks were served in a tiny paper cup which wasn't enough! Gift shop was outside the hotel, and had basics.
ok best staff-friendly people-new restaurants-new bar-nightly entertainment-take free cataraman ride with a hot cuban and get nude-awesome-food was decent-drinks were great-pool bar has much nicer service-bring cat food for the cats-we brought 4 bags-lol
I found a stellar tattoo parlour deep in Old Havana about an hour from the Atlantico. The tattoo parlour was named La Marca. Check it out! Fantastic experience. Very clean. My home base was the Hotel Atlantico. I only stayed two out of three nights at the hotel. I stayed at a Casa particular one night. Excellent experience! I upgraded my room to ocean view. $40cad was the cost!! Best $40 I have ever spent! My room had a very nice partial ocean/countryside view. The room was immaculate! Everything was brand new, I don't think that anybody had been in there yet to be honest! Super duper clean, a/c was freezing if need be. Lots of nice soap. Rain shower shower head! Hot water and I was on the top floor! There was a slight sewer gas odour one time, but it really didn't bother me. It did go away.I had two meals at the resort and it was not bad at all. I had two eggs over medium with toast. Plus a piece of French toast because I brought maple syrup to leave as a gift for the Cubans. Then my last night there I decided to look at the buffet and I had pork steak, fish, rice and beans, fresh fruit, and cucumber. There was a ton of cucumber prepared all different ways! Weird, but it was good. Fresh. I usually eat in town at the restaurants because the food is usually bland and kinda inedible at some places. Like the tropicoco. Don't go there! I have to say that my dining experience at the Atlantico was really good! I was pleasantly surprised. I was full on my last night. I had planned on going out for dinner but I decided to stay. There was a band playing traditional Cuban music at the buffet. Mucho bueno musica! I saved money and I went to bed early to catch my flight early the next day. I was actually excited to sleep in my brand new bed freezing from the a/c by choice. I would stay at the atlantico again for sure! 100%
Because of the embargo by USA (no good), one cannot compare Cuba with other countries like Mexcio. Our group of 10 from Vancouver found the staff going all out to please. If you are friendly to them, they will response likewise. The oceanfront rooms are clean and adequately supplied. But the hotel is short of towels. So bring your own if possible. Heard that the other standard rooms are quite ran down. Lots of mosquitoes and flies, to be expected when in the tropics. The food is nothing to boast about but think of the locals that will never eat like the guests. Overall, we have had a great time and experience. Tip the workers well to nullify the USA embargo.
In our 30 trips to Cuba this is the best by far. A live band played for lunch and dinner often. There were showgirl dancers every night solo singing and male dancers also. They were fabulous and after was dancing for everyone. Fresh fish for lunch and dinner with fresh mango papaya pineapple and guava often at lunch and dinner. Omelettes for breakfast. There were enough other selections so you wont starve. The chicken is organic in cuba so is everything else grown or raised. Great Beach and outdoor bar and pool. I cant say enough good things about this place Rooms are clean with a/c and fridge that work. T.V a safe hair dryer.
