Most enjoyable

Stayed here for 3 nights early March. Very pleased with all aspects of the hotel. Spacious lobbby with 2 bars. Good speedy check in and money exchange. Breakfast has everything you could want and the breakfast room is lovely too with a classical trio playing softly a very nice start to your day. Bedroom was large with plenty of storage and comfortable beds. Location is on the Malecon and has some bars and restaurants just across the road which are very good. It's 6k to Habana old town and there is a curtosy bus or take the hop on bus which is 5 cucs. Enjoyable stay would return.

Nice Hotel along the beautiful Malecon

Stayed here in January 2017 and was a most wonderful experience. My advice is to stay on the Design Floor. We stayed on 22nd floor and was amazing. The private breakfast and tea area on our floor was very convenient and served such tasty food. My advice is to book the design suite and make sure you pre book all your lunch and dinner plans with the concierge.

Very nice hotel

We just returned from a week at this hotel. The lobby is beautiful, staff was friendly and helpful, but, the ability to speak Spanish is a must, most speak very little English. The room was very nice with a spectacular view of the malecon. The rooms are clean, but the beds are very firm. There is a small shop on site for things like snacks and drinks, but choices are limited. The gift shop has a few nice items for purchase, but, again, very limited. There is a very nice jewelry store on site and worth checking out. The resort has several restaurants, some good, some just OK. Seems like the resort caters to international travelers, so, not much in the way of local cuisine. Taxis are available including the classic cars everyone wants to ride in and there is a shuttle, however, the day we attempted to use the shuttle to go downtown, we waited 30 minutes, never showed up and no explanation why. Service in all the restaurants was typical for Cuba, which means very slow, expect to wait 30 minutes to be waited on and another 30 minutes for food to arrive. We were seldom checked on after food arrived, so order two drinks at a time or be prepared to wait forever for service. There is a shopping center across the street where you can purchase items to stock your room with, be prepared for long lines, limited selection and no one speaks English. There is a coffee maker in the room, but it is not free and only takes small capsules that you must pay for. You can exchange money at the front desk and the rates are reasonable. You can not use American credit cards, so take plenty of cash and will have to leave a cash deposit at check-in. We paid $300 and had $15 left when we checked out. There is a tour desk where you can book tours, but the ladies do not speak much English, so booking a tour is challenging at best. The hotel is in a very safe area, but there are few restaurants within walking distance and not any attractions. Taxis to the down town area are about $15. Wifi is available but spotty. They are working on improving the wifi, but, clearly are not up to speed yet. It takes multiple attempts to log on and you frequently get kicked off without warning. Over all, I would say this is a good hotel for Havana, the people are great, just learn to be patient. Cast aside your expectations, enjoy the location, kick back and have a good time!

A cosmopolitan bubble in Havana

If you're looking for a tourist type of hotel, this is right up your alley. No credit cards for US Citizens, so bring cash, preferably euros for a better exchange rate at the front desk. Staff is very polite, very friendly and the food and drinks are above average. The breakfast buffet is large with plenty from which to choose, including cold salmon, hot and fresh sausages, vegetables, eggs, rice, black beans and a great selection of pastries. Breakfast includes everything for American and European tastes as well as some local Cuban cuisine. Poolside cafe has great food as well, especially the pizzas. The beds, as well as the toilet paper, are on the firm side. Overall, very pleasant, very safe hotel with good food and good atmosphere. Just forget the internet while you're there. It's slow, cumbersome and you have better things to do. Get out and visit with the amazingly kind and wonderful people of Havana.

Can handle large groups and have many amenities

The Cuban idea of hotel rooms is more closely aligned with the European experience. Spacious rooms, air conditioned, elevators ran well (except my daughter got stuck in one). Concierge service is key since you cannot use your phones at all. Internet is not dependable but one of the few hotels that has it for free.
