I stayed in this hotel on a people to people tour with a company called Insight Cuba out of New Rochelle, NY in October of 2016. My travel companions and myself found this hotel a wonderful experience. The staff were all welcoming, friendly, and helpful. The bar was very elegant and service top notch enjoying some great Cuban mojitos. We enjoyed some good Cuban food at their restaurants also. The location was great being just a short walk from the Malecon. I would definitely stay here again! Highly Recommended!
We didn't stay here. Our host brought us here for drinks and to view the Malecon. She did say, however, that the rooms were, for the price, not up to American standards despite the popularity of this hotel. We sat in the bar to enjoy the view. Service was perfect. The waitress was gracious even though her English was not the best. The bartendress made a mean mojito. Our host made a point of contrasting this "modern" hotel with the Hotel Nacional that we had visited the day before. The lobby was a number of retail outlets; jewelry shop, souvenir shop, etc. Security was everywhere perhaps because this is a hotel that attracts foreigners. Part of a larger Spanish based hotel chain, they do a nice job here. I can't vouch for the rooms but the lobby is certainly very modern.
Clean, Spacious, Airy, overlooking the Malecon. Polite and helpful staff. Great pool area. Very good food with lots of choices. I've stayed here 3 times and never been dissapointed. Very classy hotel for the discerning passenger.
I stayed for business for 5 days and I my experience could not have been more disappointing. I chose this hotel because it is supposed to be one of the few high standard business hotels in Havana. I "took advantage" of an offer in a junior suit at a discounted price which cost me USD 200 per night including taxes and breakfast. Not such a bargain considering what I got in return. Put forward that I acknowledge the difficulties of working in a place like Cuba with all the limitations and challenges which add to the price and eventual shortages. For instance, the internet is a disaster and the breakfast buffet was rather poor in terms of quality and variety. I still struggle to understand why in a tropical island fruits are so poor and bad quality though. However, this hotel is seriously mismanaged. My room was not clean, the sheets were so worn out that were torn, so they were the courtains. Apparently they welcome you with a bottle of rum, however in my room they only left a pair of used sleepers beneath the curtain in one the corner of the room. They did not move for three days. The corner was behind a huge column (they insert a 32 inches TV on it ) in the middle of the room, may be that's why they did not see it. They do not go around the corners to clean. On the fourth day they place the used sleepers besides the bed, in case I want to use them :(.The room was poorly designed in all sense and all furniture were worn out and poor. The cabinet, although very spacious, had a collection of hangers of random quality and shapes, like in an ultra cheap family hotel. The bathroom was spacious but totally bizarre design with a huge hydro-massage bathtub covered with a shower courtain. The hotel is not that old, but the quality of the materials and the poor maintenance make it feels like the place is at least 50 years old. The whole hotel is poorly design with open spaces going to nowhere or a lobby that makes no sense as well as many other areas. Is like this was the first hotel for this architect. The breakfast restaurant was also bizarre. The buffet is distributed on the sides of a huge restaurant with a nonsense disposition of the items. In a straight line the buffet is more than 70 m and only three points to get plates with two of them really close. You do not feel guilty for eating much for breakfast as just going around gives you a good morning exercise. The disposition of the tables is also not helping to navigate the room neither for you nor for the waiters that a roaming with no pattern and not paying much attention to you. Getting a second coffee was nearly impossible and only if you get early you can easily get your first. On the other hand, you can get champagne and live music for breakfast!!!I forgot to tell you that from the 17th floor up, you get what they called Servicio Real (Royal Service), I was on the 17th floor. Believe me that in the smallest and poorest kingdoms they cannot have such a bad services as this one. I can't just imagine what will be the normal citizen service. lol. While asking for a late check out (paid) I explained all these issues to the receptionist, they were most surprised that I did not get my rum bottle and upon check out the guest manager will speak to me. Upon return a bottle of rum was delivered (apparently in a smaller size as they one they normally put in the rooms) and on spite of the lengthy process for checking out the manager never showed up.
Stayed at this hotel last year but forgot to review it. However in every single trip, we stop either for WiFi access, enjoy a meal, a show, shop in their boutiques, etc. Recommendable for family, business and any needs.
