The Worst "4 star hotel" I've ever been

I think it has been the worst hotel I've ever stayed in my whole life. Although I didn't have high expectations when I booked the hotel, since it was relatively more economical compared to other hotels, such as Meliá, I didn't imagined what I was about to experience with this hotel. When we checked in, the lobby staff told us that there was a charge for the internet, so we bought an internet card. What they didn't tell us from the beginning, it was that the internet wasn't working in the hotel. We couldn't use it for the whole stay at the hotel, so we had to use the internet card in another hotel. The 3rd. floor of the hotel was like a scene from a terror movie: -Lights flicking, -Moldy carpets, -Stained walls, -No A/C. The door of my room was dirty and it creaked when it opened. We didn't have cable TV, no TV at all, just one sad pillow without any fluff, no bed cover and no hot water in the first room. We asked to be changed, and the second room didn't have cable TV, the mattress was hard as a plywood, no bed cover and no hot water. Finally the third room had some channels (because the other channels the signal was crappy), at least hot water, and a decent bed, but the bed sheets were dirty, the towels were stained, and we found a cockroach in the bathroom. We felt that no matter how many times we asked for a room change, some issue would appear.I don't know who gave them 4 stars, but where I come from (Panama), even a 2 star hotel can beat this one by far, and for a fraction of the price. I feel like I’ve been ripped off by this hotel. When I was checking out, they didn't even had a manager there attending these issues I'm writing right now, the staff just wrote it down in a piece of paper in which I’m sure it won't even get close to the hands of the manager. I would be ok if they promote themselves as a 2 star hotel, but to market it as a 4 star hotel is an insult for the tourist visiting Havana, and I'm really disappointed about it.I hope that this hotel, much sooner than later, will have a major change in its management and brand. And I hope it is for the best.

Good Hotel

The hotel is good but the rooms are a bit outdated. The breakfast was very good, a lot of variety. The services are good. The hotel is near the bus station far from airport. The swimming pool is good. The staff was really friendly.

some distance from Havanas main attractions

You'll need to spend a considerable amount of money on taxis if you want to visit the main parts of Havana. The door staff are apparently in on a payback with the drivers of the 1950s vehicles - so - tell them what you are going to pay, otherwise you'll get ripped off. The modern yellow taxis are better regulated & less likely to be a rip off.The hotel was great- the room spacious, comfy & clean.Breakfast was amazing - the choice & quality was impressive. We were clearly there in the off- season - so space in the breakfast room & around the pool was great : but looking at the size of the facilities , I'd guess that they can pack in a lot of people - apparently November - March is the peak season - and the ambience must be very different with a lot more people around . Wi-Fi access is extremely limited ; and you have to buy a card from reception. These are x3 times more expensive than similar cards that you can buy at the telecoms shop in the shopping complex about 5 mins walk away, across the road . All in all - a good comfortable hotel .

Not bad location, good and helpful staff

The hotel is undergoing renovations, so our group was delighted to be placed on a newly renovated floor with updated amenities. Some of the rooms are still old, and during our visit there was a heavy downpour and some rooms flooded. But the staff did an amazing job accommodating room changes. The buffet breakfast is extensive and serves all tastes. The location is located about 15-20 minutes outside of Old Havana, so keep that in mind if you want your visit to be focused there. Taxis are easy to get from the hotel and not too expensive. Keep in mind that many places do not accept credit cards and ample cash for your entire trip is a must.

Part one of our twin centre adventure

Arrived to spend 3 days at this hotel in Havana to find we had been booked as bed and breakfast whereas our booking clearly indicated half board. However undeterred we set about enjoying what Havana and the local area had to offer. Soak it up its an amazing vibrant city. The old 1950's cars are a joy to see and give it a unique feel. Find a private not government run restaurant, choice is better. Our rep Mario worked tirelessly to sort our booking and credit to him he did and we were compensated adequately from TUI for the evening meals we missed. He recommended the show Club Tropicana and we in turn recommend to you. Superb night out. Guided tour is a good idea to get your bearings, but once your comfortable explore yourself.Hotel is a little run down, but room was comfortable with good view of sea. Breakfast had plenty of choice. Yes Internet is practically non existent but that's Cuba. Bars are staffed by real friendly guys and girls. All in all enjoyed this however anymore than 3 days I would have preffered to be closer to centre of Havana.
