Well located in the embassies area, 14 km from habana vieja and 5 mins walk from the nearest commercial area. The hotel is pretty old but well keeped, room are old and with basic amenieties....huge breakfast( just above the line).Very good the swimming pool and the nigth entertainment....inside services pretty expencive like almost al hotels in havana.
We stayed here for three nights whilst we visited Havana for the first time. It is a large well appointed hotel with all the facilities you would expect. Added to this it is clean and the staff are both friendly and helpful. There is a "but" however. This hotel and others across the road are just too far out of the old town and the city centre. Expect to pay between CUC 10 and 15 for a single journey between the hotel and town. We found we were spending over 50 CUC a day on taxis alone. Why does the hotel not have a courtesy bus service? On a positive note the hotel has plenty of pool side sun loungers and finding two at any time during our stay was not a problem. Across the road from the hotel is a modern block of offices, bars and shops. Easily identifiable as it houses amongst others, the American Airlines Offices. There you will find a small shop that sells Mineral Water and general supplies at lower prices to the hotel. You will also see what I mean when I say "Watch out for the Elephants" when visiting this building. Well worth a quick trip to see them. On the question of hotel charges, you will find that Wi-fi Cards cost CUC 4.50 from the hotel's reception desk, yet in Varadero where we stayed next, they cost only CUC 2.00. Why? Our room had a good sized "Safe Deposit Box" which we used, but walking around the local area and during our stay in Cuba generally, we felt very safe. The buffet dining area was fine, but don't forget to ask for a glass of Moet at breakfast if you are celebrating a special day. In summary, a good hotel, but sadly we won't be staying here again, due to the out of town location.
I had been in this hotel with a travelling group for two nights. The room was ok. It was big and nicely decorated. But every day I was greeted by my personal cockroach in the bathroom. The hotel is very big and sometimes it not easy to find the right way. The corridores were confusing as there were too less information boards. The corridores would need a restauration. The breakfast and dinner buffet was ok. But there were too less tables in the dining room. The location of the hotel is very far from the city center (Old Havana). You would have to drive there by taxi for about 30 minutes. Around the hotel there is almost nothing. We found a bar near the big cathedral. If you want to go out at night you have to take the taxi ... maybe to Vedado to see a little bit of cuban life.
Great hotel located just outside Havana City Centre. All the amenities you would expect and excellent service.Staff very attentive and eager to please. Good choice of restaurants and bar snacks available.Buffet breakfasts to please all tastes
Rating is relative to US experiences, not others in Cuba.As always in Cuba terrific people with great attitudes. Have stayed here twice. Exchanged money with confidence, room was 3 stars but very clean.Bar was fun and the performers were very good. taught the bartender how to make a Manhattan -$6CUC. (No surprise to find the good old boys from Lynchburg, KY managed to get some Jack Daniels past the embargo revenuers..!) Location is terrific. Linens were a bit worn, but clean. 3 CUC tip on the first day lead to terrific service from maid. View from Front facing rooms is accross to the water, back facing rooms looks across very large and clean (but unheated) pool. In Nov. the building blocks the sun from most of the pool starting around 4PM. A decent choice all around.
