Bad choice for La Havana.

I have been in Cuba dozens of times but this has been my worst stay in La Havana. At rates ranging from USD 250 to 350 a night, this may be your worst hotel deal ever, just not worthy. Service at the front desk is completely disorganized with attendants who do not really care about tourists and inattentive attitude. While you can find this attitude all over La Havana hotels, in this place was more evident. They are just happy they are getting tourists in masses, who by the way may never come back to this hotel. Rooms are ample but with old furniture, very basic. Check that all lamps work properly, one in my room had the electrical cord just cut. There is no Wi-Fi in the hotel, they sell you a wi-fi card that is useless in all the premises, be prepared for that. My WC was broken, was not well adjusted to the ground, and I complained but they fixed it two days later. Also the elevators were very bad maintained working badly and nobody cared. On the few positive things, all inclusive buffet breakfast is ok and pools and the lobby bar looked also fine. My advise is that you look for better options in other areas, even private rooms for rent. The hotel is 20 minutes away by car from Havana Vieja, or the city center.

Not the best but ok

We travelled to Cuba as two couples for a twin centre holiday, 3 days in Havana and the rest in Varadero. After reading other visitors notes, we were very apprehensive of what the hotel would be like. Lobby and entrance to hotel was stunning, bar area good and clean, some grumpy staff but did manage to get them to smile eventually! Snack bar provided good food, pizzas, burgers, pasta dishes and staff helpful.Buffet provided at breakfast was extensive and good, apart from the coffee it was not as expected. We didn't use the pool and areas but it did look good, some places just needed a bit of a touch up but all in all ok.Our rooms were on the 4th floor and overlooked front of hotel, both were a bit tired, the fixtures and fittings could do with a change, the cupboard around the fridge, which was not even plugged in! Could do with being changed or taken away not worth having. The bed was comfortable, not at all as expected, shower and bathroom fittings all worked well and the shower was great. The staff overall were helpful and the concierge arranged for us to get a taxi for the day and the driver was excellent and stayed with us all day, we were out for about 7 1/2 hours, including booking us in to a local restaurant for lunch and booking us a local music club in the evening, we wanted to go to Buena Vista Club but he suggested Rosalia de Castro, excellent evening with 3 course meal and 3 free Mojitos or Cuba Libre, they do come round and try and sell you wine ranging from 30 to 45 cup and cigars but we all abstained! All in all we enjoyed our stay in Havana but the hotel is based too far out, approx 40 mins drive into centre, if we were to visit again, we would stay in the centre, so much night life that we must have missed out on.

Amazing Hotel

We stayed at this hotel as part of our tour of Havana overnight and was impressed with hotel. The beds were comfortable and the room was spacious and the internet connection was great used it quickly before we went out to eat. Only issue we had to ask the reception for towels since we didn't have any the receptionist told us they are having a issue with towels and we will get one soon. other then that everything was great. The breakfast was great so much different food to eat and nice and fresh juice machine. Its a bit of a distance away from Havana to get to the center but is a good stay for 1 night.

on a high level

Hotel with excellent food, the content of the pool. Music in the bar was exceptional, continuously rotate the new bands. Location is not the happiest of us but for a short tour of Havana is an ideal hotel!

Worst hotel I've ever stayed at

The worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Although cheaper than staying in Havana city centre this is not a cheap hotel. It falls well below standard. The rooms are a disgrace. Thread bare carpets, thread bare curtains that do not hang properly, uncomfortable beds and a general dirty state of amenities. It gives the impression that the hotel hasn’t upgraded any of the features in the room since the building of the hotel was completed, In which decade of the twentieth century I do not know. The wifi is a wste of money being unreliable and slow, we went to the nearby Melia and purchased wifi time there.Breakfast is ok, and the pool bas does a decent burger. We also went to some nearby hotel restaurants too, as the food options in the vicinity are limited. And it is a 40 dollar per trip to the city centre and back.Beware of the credit card you take. We took the same credit card that we reserved the booking with, which then the hotel did not accept on check in. Luckily I had another card that worked. This hotel cannot hide behind being in Cuba, we stayed in other hotels on our trip and all were good. This hotel gives a bad first impression for Cuba.
