Part one of our twin centre adventure

Arrived to spend 3 days at this hotel in Havana to find we had been booked as bed and breakfast whereas our booking clearly indicated half board. However undeterred we set about enjoying what Havana and the local area had to offer. Soak it up its an amazing vibrant city. The old 1950's cars are a joy to see and give it a unique feel. Find a private not government run restaurant, choice is better. Our rep Mario worked tirelessly to sort our booking and credit to him he did and we were compensated adequately from TUI for the evening meals we missed. He recommended the show Club Tropicana and we in turn recommend to you. Superb night out. Guided tour is a good idea to get your bearings, but once your comfortable explore yourself.Hotel is a little run down, but room was comfortable with good view of sea. Breakfast had plenty of choice. Yes Internet is practically non existent but that's Cuba. Bars are staffed by real friendly guys and girls. All in all enjoyed this however anymore than 3 days I would have preffered to be closer to centre of Havana.

Not bad

After reading some of the reviews, we were dreading staying here, so were happy it turned out not to be as bad as we thought, and it served a purpose for the three nights we were staying there. Check in was quick and our room was pretty decent, with everything working as it should. Bed was hard, but with my bad back this was a bonus! In general, the hotel was clean and tidy, but in need of a total revamp and the food/drink massively overpriced (20cuc for a buffet meal?!) Although annoying, we already knew that the hotel was out of town, but taxis were easy to get, and didn't stop us getting out to enjoy the sights. I think next time, we will choose to stay somewhere in the centre of town, but it was ok.

We found blood stains and cockroaches. Stay away! (this was by far my worst experience!)

I did not even want to write this review, however, I hope this place improves. We went to Cuba for our honeymoon. We stayed in a very nice hotel in Varadero. Then we decided to go to see the Tropicana show in Havana. We loved it however this hotel was a nightmare. I found dry blood spots on the floor and then live cockroaches in the pillow! I was nearly in tears. We did not had much of a choice to change hotels. We could change rooms but I did not want to stay at all. The trip included food, however not the drinks and nobody told us. Then a waitress told me (in a very poorly manner) not to drink anymore of the juices (it was only one per person). I am from Guatemala and I speak Spanish as a native language and the service and attitude were bellow par. I was mortified of the way they treated us. This is not the cuba we known. In Varadero hotel the service was outstanding. I would not recommend this hotel and I do hope this review helps them to improve. I have been reviewing since 2006 and never had this experience in my life!

Cuban Experience part 1

We stayed at this hotel for the first part of our 2 week holiday in Cuba. The staff are friendly and helpful. Food is basic and not much choice. We booked our holiday as full board in Havana and All Inclusive in Valeredo. The hotel refused to honour the agreement we had with Thomson but thanks to our knight in shining amour - Mario the TUI rep he resolved the whole issue on our whole what a guy. We can honestly say he is one of the best reps we have every had the pleasure to deal with while on holiday. The Hotel is very dated and does need some TLC, we were also shocked the no hotels in Cuba offer free WIFI so its' 4.50 CUC per hour which is about £3.00 and can drop signal and be very slow :(. Overall we loved our trip and would recommend people to try Cuba it is one of those countries is a MUST to see but you just need to be aware this is a very poor country and life can be hard

If you wanna book your stay at Miramar Memories Havana, then think again!

I went to Cuba with a friend of mine. We visited Havana for 5 days. We stayed at the Miramar Memories for 5 nights as my travel agency offered this hotel in a package, followed by a beach part at Varadero. I gave it two stars, and it I think it is a reasonable rating. Rooms are pretty large. The breakfast buffet is really good too. Plenty of choices, with fresh fruit and omelettes. The lobby bar is also nice, and you get Cuban shows at almost every night. The hotel is located in a great neighbourhood, and you can take a walk at the beach. There is also a small supermarket in near vicinity, where you can buy bottled water and snacks. Very charming indeed. However, this hotel is getting old. There are a few things in private rooms that are simply not acceptable: rusty taps in bathrooms and stains on roofs, on fitted carpets and sofas in my room. Public areas, like toilets, have a strong smell. The receptionist can fool you if you want to exchange your money and ask for a currency exchange counter: they actually offer you to change your money at the reception, instead of indicating the currency exchange counter. If you accept, you might lose 5-10 CUC. I would not return there.
