Please note that hotel standards in Cuba tend to be lower than in other Sun Destinations. Unless travelers are familiar with the resort or Cuban hotels, we typically recommend that travelers book a minimum 4 star resort when traveling to Cuba. 

Situated in the attractive neighbourhood of Miramar, this city hotel provides its guests with a superb venue to enjoy Havana. A casual-styled property, the Montehabana is centrally located to authentic restaurants, fine shopping and popular tourist attractions. On-site facilities include fully equipped apartments and restaurant & swimming pool at the neighbouring Occidental Miramar.
Location: In Miramar, 20-minute drive from Havana Airport and 20-minute drive from Old Havana.

Worst bar experience ever!

I did not stay at the hotel... upon a friends recommendation to go to the bar I was delighted. A friend and I had just arrived in Cuba and was looking for a nice spot to grab a drink. As I walked into the lobby it looked pleasant... and that is where it stopped... grabbed 2 seats at the bar.. (which no one else was seated) after being ignored by the bartender for a few he came over .. no hello no smile or even eye contact.. we ordered 2 Mojitos.. they were horrible.. tasted like dirty water.. after a while we may have thought since we were the only patrons at the bar he would come over a checked on us.. nada... never asked us if everything was ok or did we want another drink... he was too occupied playing around with other coworkers. We were very disappointed with this experience..The worst was when he was "playing" around with one of the other coworkers he did the most vile things I have ever seen in life.. he spat at the other worker.. no sure even where it landed (hopefully not the ice bin) was that point we decided to leave.. after about 10-15 mins of finally getting him to give us a check.. which he never did.. he just said $7.00... stood there and waited until I pulled out my money.. took it and didn't even say thank you.. working in the hospitality food and beverage industry I know good or even decent service... this was not it.. I hope the someone from management will see this review. because this was unacceptable..

3 star hotel

Stayed as a single female for 4 days.The good: plentiful breakfast. Memories Miramar hotel owned by same people and on same property. You can use their pool and facilities and restuarants. Very safe spot. Nice pool which is big. Hotel room was clean and they provided a hairdryer, shampoo, body wash and shower cap. You may not get these at some other hotels. Memories Miramar has a tour desk that you can arrange tours of old Havana for cheaper than taxi fare there and back. Also tours across Cuba to different places. Between both hotels there are gift shops, convience store, massage, hair shop, massage and fitness and tennis courts.You can buy cigars and alcohol at Miramar. Neighbour hour is in a more posh neighbourhood. Taxis outfront and local busses close by. Not so good: king mattress on 2 uneven boxsprings. Ok for just me but 2 people might be uncomfortable. Location far from everythings. Cost me 20 cuc one way into old Havana. Lots of stairs into hotel and to get to pool and other hotel. Not good if you have mobility issues. I paid too much to stay here.

Basic but comfortable.

Like another reviewer visited this hotel as part of an overnight package to Havana. Set in the diplomatic quarter some distance from the main city. The Hotel is very 70's in terms of a style statement with a very large lobby area. The room my wife and I had, was twin bedded, with a large lounge and a kitchen area, that looked to be disconnected. The bathroom was clean, and the shower good. The decoration, was very Mediterranean and colourful with some nice decorative features in terms of accessories like vases and lamps.The electrics were interesting, the wall lights in our room when turned off had one flashing bulb. I removed the bulb from the apparently faulty fixture and then the other lamp flashed so removed both bulbs, whilst my wife tried to work out what to do if I got an electric shock. We were here to visit Club Tropicana so did not dine at night but breakfasted in the morning. Like my hotel in Varadero the coffee was not brilliant but there was a good selection both hot and cold. The staff were a little remote, but then we had been bussed in for a one night stay. They did let me change some money at a better rate than my hotel. So the general standard was much better than I had expected. For a short stay I thought it was acceptable and if you are planning an overnight trip, albeit a little out of the centre, I found it to be a comfortable stay.

To be avoided

We stayed at this hotel for one night while on a 2 day tour of Havana with our tour group. The hotel was undergoing refurbishment and many of the rooms were in a disgusting state with dust on all the furniture, paint on the floors and beds and the kitchenette was covered in grime. The only good room was the bathroom which was reasonably tidy and the shower was usable. Some of our group asked to move as their rooms were damp and the bedding threadbare. Our balcony was also covered in paint and the cleaner had not brushed the area for weeks as there were cigarettes discarded on the floor. We avoided the breakfast as it did not look appetizing. The toilets in the lobby were being used by the workmen so was best avoided. All in all a very disappointing experience but luckily we were only there for one day.

A lot to be desired

I'm try not to be negative when writing reviews, however this place was a real let-down. Having travelled extensively all over the world, I was keeping an open mind about my 1st visit to Cuba and was mindful of the economic position of the Country etc. We stayed 3 nights here & were thoroughly underwhelmed. For 1 whole day we had no running water - the whole Hotel was without (but no offer was made for bottles of water to wash hands, or even to re-locate us at the Miramar sister Hotel next door), our shower was broken throughout despite flagging the issue with Reception & the staff were less than helpful.There were no porters on duty to help carry luggage on our arrival to the Hotel, or on departure. This was not an expectation and I was fully able to manage, however it is a basic service one should hope is offered by most establishments nowadays.Small bottles of water at the Bar were an eye-watering £2.00 compared to a large 1.5L from a local shop at £0.75!!The breakfast was indifferent and a member of staff had to go looking for milk one morning and it was still only 08.00.Location is out of town so expect to pay 15CUC (approx. £12.00) for a taxi into the city centre.Plusses - ummm..... The balcony area was nice, except that the discarded cigar and tissue paper which greeted us when we arrived, was still there when we left. Otherwise, glad we only had to stay for 3 nights!Sorry - harsh, but fair!
