Our Opinion
Please note that hotel standards in Cuba tend to be lower than in other Sun Destinations. Unless travelers are familiar with the resort or Cuban hotels, we typically recommend that travelers book a minimum 4 star resort when traveling to Cuba.

Overview
Originally constructed in 1928, this hotel was once the pride of Havana. Centrally located in Havana Vieja, just 2 short blocks from the Museo de Bella Artes (The Museum of Beautiful Arts) and Central Park in Colon and Morro streets.

Location: 5 mins to Downtown Havana and 45 mins from Havana Airport.

Good location, new bathrooms.

The elevator is slow, as most. During busy times, you have to walk up the stairs. Free breakfast is typical. Not bad, not great. But fills you up. Front desk is really helpful. Nice. New bathroom, modern. Rooms small of course. Very good location, IMO. A bit expensive, but they are all up in price in the last few years.

Manage Expectations and Enjoy

Even being a seasoned traveller I found searching for accommodation in Havana difficult. Prices have gone up with change in the political landscape however services are still on the improve but not at the same pace...you calculus and economics scholars will understand where I am going with this...from Western Standards a good hotel in Havana...probably will be even better by the time this is published. Those of you looking for luxury...things will catch up pretty quick...but you get something and you lose something. Lobby is quaint and nice facilities. Good staff eager to help.

Horrible

Everything in this hotel is bad, except the location and the woman in the reception, she was actually nice and helpful. The whole place is in a bad need of refurbishment. The double room was so small you couldn't even open two suitcases at once on the floor (there was no furniture provided for this purpose). Worst of all was the breakfast. We arrived among the first in the morning and looked for a table with a cloth that wasn't full of stains. Well, there was none. The breakfast staff were really rude, I felt I'd been taken back to Eastern Europe of the 1980's. They offered me a tasteless cappuccino, refused to answer my question I would be charged for it and then demanded 3 CUC cash when I left the breakfast room.

Leaves a lot to be desired

The outlook of this hotel takes you back which is what we wanted. We were aware that we weren't going to get the same standard here as we are used to in the UK but oh boy this was a shocker. We felt this place was old but what the foyer graves was not what the bedroom gave us. Wow the rooms need a complete make over, it felt damp and the pillows are terrible. Plugs falling off the walls in the bathroom which was scary, towels were lovely an dog a descent size. The breakfast is strange, not covered and they don't replenish or clear table quick enough. We had to ask numerous times for some coffee or hot water. In the end we took the containers to the gentleman making the specialty coffees. I was always told that Cubans were full of life. It was a strange time and I respect the period of mourning but nobody smiled or interacted.

Decent room, very bad breakfast

First of all, this hotel should cost about 60 USD (and not 120). Generally speaking, Havana hotels are overpriced and quality is very bad. There are not enough hotels and too much tourism.Room (605) was small and not cozy at all, but reasonably clean and functioning. There was tv with international stations and a small fridge. Bathroom was clean, water ran very well, but shower was tiny. View was interesting.Location was great … one block from Prado and Malecon and 3 blocks to Parque Central.Breakfast was really bad, half of the buffet plates were empty and they did not care to fill them again. There was no coffee and when they finally refiled it it was gone immediatelly (it was in one little pot). Breakfast personal was rude and couldn´t care less.It was ok for a short stay, however if you plan to stay in Havana longer, choose a different hotel.
