Our Opinion
Please note that hotel standards in Cuba tend to be lower than in other Sun Destinations. Unless travelers are familiar with the resort or Cuban hotels, we typically recommend that travelers book a minimum 4 star resort when traveling to Cuba.

Old, worn and terrible service

We arrived in this old and run down property and used 1 hour checking as reception could not understand that we could not fit 14 people in 12 beds. It was not their problem, even thou booking stated 14 pax. The rooms has worn and run down. Breakfast restaurant was OK and located on top floor with nice views.

Hotel was okay until the bathroom ceiling fell...

The Park View has a great location - just two blocks outside of Habana Vieja. Overall the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I had fairly low expectations going in, considering what I have read about the hotels in Havana, and this hotel confirmed those expectations. The room was sparse but serviceable. There was hot water in the bathroom and ac in the room. I was glad I brought by own shampoo and conditioner because none was provided. Our hotel stay was going fairly well until the last night when most of the bathroom ceiling came crashing down. Thank goodness we weren't in the bathroom at the time. The hotel quickly moved us to the room next door and comped the water bottles we had during our stay. So I wouldn't stay at this hotel again, but it's not a bad option if you want an affordable place in Havana.

Convenient downtown location but the hotel is a dump

The Park View may have been one of the sophisticated hotels in the 1920s, but it looks like it has barely been vacuumed or cleaned since then. Adventures: Room 1: 1 cm of water on the bathroom floor, with more water dripping through the ceiling. OK, they had a second room for us. Room 2: only 2 towels total. OK, one can serve as the bathmat, the second we shared. Shower hose: burst upon use. When repaired, the new hose was too short for the head to mount in the holder on the wall. Safe: locked, and no sign of a key anywhere. Was a previous guest's possessions still in it? Hot water: we had plenty, but some of our friends never had any. Elevator: works, but the electronic display showed floor 6 all the time, and there was no sign of any type of safety inspection. Breakfast: the fruit was good, but the rest mediocre. In the hotel's defense, much of the food in Cuba as of early 2017 date is not skillfully prepared. All in all, the Park View is a character-building experience. NOTE: View from the roof is great!! (Take your camera up there.)

Freezing Cold

This hotel, at 240CUC per night is absolutely awful. We were unable to regulate the temperature in the freezing room, and ended up having to wear coats to bed. There was no hot water in the shower, and the room was very basic - not good value for money, even on Cuban standards. The lift works intermittently and never stops on floors above the ground floor, which is a problem when you are trying to get up to the sixth floor restaurant for breakfast. We were meant to return to the Park View for four days when our tour finished, but opted to find alternate accommodation, which was excellent and slightly cheaper. This is nothing more than a very expensive backpackers hostel, so do not expect hotel accommodation. You have to walk to the nearby Hotel Seville to hail a taxi.

Good location but that's all

The Park View is in a good location near the Malecon and various museums but the place is otherwise unattractive. We had no hot water and the front desk was dismissive when we complained. The room was dirty (although the bedding was clean, thank goodness) and smelled of fumigant. Two weak lightbulbs were the only illumination. We were told that even the most expensive hotels in Havana are substandard but this place was dire.
