Our Opinion
A famous hotel located right in the middle of the local scene in Vedado, therooms are nice and updated and it has an open air disco on the top of the hotel.
Overview
A fun, hip hotel right in the heart of Havana. Incredible selection of entertainment, including a nightclub on the top floor with a retractable ceiling that allows you to take in a show under the stars.
 
Location: Downtown district of Vedado. 40 min from Havana airport.

Money missing from locked room Safe. Non-existent and inconsistent Melia customer policies. Personal safety at risk.

Checked in January 4th at a rate of $200 per night per room with Melia.com. Locked all valuables in safe. January 5th returned from sightseeing to discover 100CUC (equivalent $100) missing from wallet in safe. Same in my mother's room booked under a different name. Reported to hotel customer service who dismissed us, made it our problem and told us to go to police. No Melia customer policy or procedure in place. Actual answer "what do you expect me to do, put a guard on your door?". Taxis at hotel refused to bring us to police station. Bell lady for hotel refused to get us taxi. We insisted customer service get one. Spent two hours at station, police refused to take statement. Laughed at us, brought over local Cuban men who hassled us. Brought us through back of station into dark yard and made us get into their car - utterly terrifying. Returned to hotel. Woken by Melia security at 11.30pm with the police. No Melia explanation as to what was happening. Melia staff refused to translate. Police looked at the rooms and safes but did not examine the safe. Said they would return next morning at 9am. Would not give us their names. Police did not return on January 6th as arranged. Hotel receptionist said the police report would be ready for us that evening. No report. Customer service continued to dismiss us and then changed the story to that it may be possible for a complaint procedure. Escalated situation to Hotel Manager (Luis Baster) - said he would get us a signed police statement. Spent the evening giving police statement. Was told to return at 10.30pm for a counter-signed copy. Signed the already police signed statement at 10.20pm but Hotel customer service said I couldn't have a copy as it needed a second police signature. Hotel manager promised he would personally contact us at our next hotel (another Melia hotel in Varadero) with the signed copy. No personal contact over the following week. (Also no wifi). Phoned hotel manager Thursday 11th (Luis Basterra) - he was "in meetings". Received a letter from him saying that the police would not be providing a police report. Phoned again on 12th - again "in meetings". Rang customer service three times (Yadira Hernandez) until they put me through to her. Story changed again and she told me to go to Varadero police station for the report. Then story changed again and she said she would call them and forward it to me. Still no reply.Personal safety and security is at risk at this hotel. At best the staff ignored us. No policy or procedures in place by Melia. No customer empathy. Continuously changing story from Melia about the police report. No copy of our police statement. Horrific experience.Hotel forecourt is large and full of local Cubans and taxi drivers that hustle for business the second you come out the door.

Exceeded expectations

We saw a few bad reviews of this hotel, but it was great on the 23rd floor. Our room was NOT dated. WiFi worked well, in fact we were quite pleased. The pool area is a bit old and busted with dirty and broken furniture. Breakfast had more options than I could try. Yes, this hotel in the states would not have a high rating but for Cuba, it’s pretty nice. I would stay here again as long as I got the nicer room on the upper floor. In Touch travel arranged the nicer accommodations for us and we were very pleased. Lower your expectations before you expect total shine and polish on everything,

IPhone stolen inside hotel

I was at the hotel on December 29th 2018, I had dinner at the Barracón restaurant around 9:30 p.m., until about 11:00 p.m. Where I used the cell phone to take some photos of the group.After that we went up to the Turiquino on the 25th floor. We stayed there for a few minutes and decided to go to sleep. As soon as I left the place I noticed the lack of the cell phone. We went to the restaurant on the ground floor and went back to the 25th floor to try to locate the phone. Staff at both reception and security did not seem to care much about what happened. On the day we talked to Ernesto's customer service, who mentioned that he could only do something the next day. Also without giving much importance. The next day we still talked to Yordan who also said he could not do anything about it. Summary, the lack of security, attention and respect for the consumer was complete. In a hotel that cost more than $ 300 a day and that is far from a four star.

Very rude receptionist!!

The hotel is very clean, amazing view of the city... the rooms are comfortable. The bad experience was with a receptionist. At the check in, we had a confusion because my 10 years old son wasn’t included in the booking. We were concerned about it we were looking through the booking in our phone and she was saying “ are you going to take the room, yes or not!!!... you HAVE to pay for the child!!!! We told her that we just need a minute the doble check...... anyway ... it was a mistake .... we paid the extra for our son, then she gave me all the receipts I took them and went to the room...We went out for dinner, coming back to our room the key wasn’t working so we went to reception to ask for the key to be reset, we though that it happened because we put the phone close to it. THEN the same receptionist came up saying “I deactivate the keys BECAUSE YOU HAVEN’T PAY FOR THE CHILD!!!! What!!! I explained her that she did took the payment then she went “ NOOO I checked on the machine and there isn’t any receipt””..... at that point I was furious!!! How in earth is she treating us like that!!!! She didn’t give us a key!! She send a housekeeper to open the door for us!!! The receipt was in the safe which works with the key!!! My husband call to her saying “ if you want the receipt come and open the safe ..””” she came give the key I got the receipt gave it to her ... she didn’t believe it until the read it twice !!!! I was more than furious I asked her to apologise to us !! .Very rude lady I don’t remember her name to write it down ... the hotel it’s nice, but that lady needs some lessons of consumer service !!!! Urgently!!!!!

Nice hotel, well situated but needs additional refurbishment

The hotel is well located in the Viedado area, you can walk 2-3 km to Old Town Havana.The hotel is full of history because Fidel stayed here for a period. Even if it was renovated some parts still need refurbishment, considering the price of the rooms and the stars awarded. The hotel has restaurants, bars, shops, taxis in front of the hotel.

If selecting an all-inclusive resort option, the package will also include the all-inclusive features as outlined by each resort.
