Our OpinionA famous hotel located right in the middle of the local scene in Vedado, the†rooms are nice and updated and it has an open air disco on the top of the hotel.††
Our first 4 nights where great- clean room - spacious- pool +city view.. Nice pool area!On our way back to Havana after visiting other cities for our last night stay the room given was very smelly and ac not working. Complaint at the reception and ask for a new room. The guy at the reception was very friendly and immediately called someone to check our room. The room ac was not working as mentioned above so they had offered a new room. The room was clean-spacious and ac working :) Very comfortable beds and very good breakfast!
this is important: If you book a room in this hotel, there are two different types of accomdations. The top 5 levels of the hotel in renovated with modern ammedities. it clean, and has a separate front desk, that will change your money and direct you around cuba. Now: the low level rooms are a bit rough. but i believe significantly cheaper. If your just need some where to sleep, then this is an ok option.Cons: the elevators are terrible, it takes forever to get one during peek times and forget about trying to use the stairs. Some of the doors will not open- a bit of a fire hazard.i really enjoyed my stay, i also spend the extra money and tipped well. The entire hotel staff helped us do everything. English is hard to come by in cuba so it helps to find people that speak alittle. I speak a high school level spansh and some of our words got lost in translations. There is a pool and hotel bar and a smoking lounge Close to restaurantsgreat view
We stayed here for 3 days and the room we got had a beautiful view of the ocean, el morro, havana. Would pull a chair and just enjoy the view. Then I found out Fidel stayed there. So close to the malecon, and a place you can hear famous singers and bands and buy books and stuff. I loved the ice cream they serve there that was my dinner one night. I was hardly there only to rest but met special people there: you have to meet Se√Īor Rene and I forget the other gentleman's name who is also a math teacher. On my last day found out Rene sings! He would go out of his way to see we were okay. When you stay here ask for Rene! and the girl who is in charge of the women's bathroom downstairs forgot her name such a sweet sweet young woman.Besos para todos!!!
Traveling to Cuba becomes a challenge since everybody has their own opinion and speaking of hotels it becomes more complicated, what can be a terrible place for some, for others can be excellent. To me, this hotel was an average experience, is not a fancy or glamorous place, but it has all the story you are looking for while traveling to Habana. This was a casino and mob managed placed and you can feel it in the air.Of course it needs more maintenance but being in Cuba is something difficult to achieve due to limitations. The beds are not the best, the A/C does not allow to control temperature, the bathroom does need an upgrade but still, you can stay and enjoy a good time, since it is not bad, you can rest and clean up to start a new day with no problem at all.The lobby is a must! Loved every single piece of it, and right now I am missing a good mojito or Cuba Libre while having a good conversation. The attentions of the crew were just perfect, they cared and always showed it to you. The pool was good and a nice place to get a good sun tan with food and beverages, services. The price I paid included a very good buffet breakfast with very good options and with the need meal to fuel your day start.I was assigned floor 10 and all I can say is that the views were amazing! Don't forget to check on this important and required detail when you check inn.Overall I think I can easily return to this hotel with eyes closed. I recommend it.
This historic Hotel was the headquarter of Fidel Castro when he first arrived in Havana after deposing Baptista. It is very well located, the view is amazing and the breakfast excellent. However the time has passed, it has more than fifty years and the renovation as in other Cuban buildings is poor. The commodities are sparse and during a day there was not hot water - in Cuba is not a big issue as you can easily bath in cold water but in an Hotel it is a fault.
