Came here on a family trip, there was about 8 of us. We have traveled to many other locations in Cuba but this one was by far the best. I absolutely loved the snorkeling right off the beach, no need to travel. We ended up actually going on an excursion to snorkel but I found it better at the resort. Bartenders and servers were very nice, regardless of tip. Only complaint I could make was the New Years festivities. I think they could have put a bit more into the actually midnight count down. Seemed like a heard of buffalo just standing around. A lot of people were given bags filled with blowers, hats, confetti and other party items but I didn't get one. I did happen to find a hat on the bar which I assumed someone left behind. When I tried to put it on a worker ripped it off my head and yelled "THAT IS MINE!!!". I get that these people don't have a lot but common... no need to be rude. I would have given it up in a heart beat had I known. I think they just assumed everybody was drunken buffoons.Aside from that incident everything was great. Clean, well kept and tasty food. Especially liked the Jamaican restaurant. Jerk chicken was awesome!
We spent a week in September 2016, celebrating our grandson birthday. The best thing about this hotel it's a calm sandy beach. Good for swimming and snorkeling (left side of the coral reef).Plenty of chairs any time of the day.The restaurants were good ,plenty of food choices . The beer garden is grate .Evening entertainment a mess some time. Karaoke bar is fun.Never used a pool because floating plastic cups, too much people drinking inside the swimming area and leave half empty cocktails on the side. The room was good, cleaned every day.
Me and my other half have just returned from the hotel playa pesquero on the 26/04/17. What an amazing holiday !! Unfortunately we didn't get as much sun as we hoped but that was unusual for that time of year. The first couple of days we saw cloud and not much else but that didn't stop us from enjoying ourselves! We carried on using the pool and the swim up bar , went to the beach and done our excursions The excursions were good. We done the horseback riding for an hour which was plenty long enough and the jet skis which were amazing, I would recommend. Unfortunately the week we went out there they were moving the dolphins and they needed a week to settle before we could go and see them which was a real downer as it was one of the trips we really wanted to do but these things can't be helped. You get 4 a la carte bookings for the week and I can say definitely book them! The first one we went to was the Caribbean one and it was lovely , less fancy than the others but a great one to start off with. The Mediterranean one was next and that was a disappointment , I would not go back. The food was luke warm at best and the service was bad. The Italian was our third restaurant, a more fancy one which meant dressing up but it was worth it ! Amazing service , a live piano playing and the food was exquisite, I would highly recommend going there. The last restaurant and my favourite one was the romantica restaurant. The same good points as the Italian but with much more class and service , it was astounding. The room is my next compliment. I couldn't fault it , we were in block 20 which was an ideal block to be in. Around 1 minute walk to the pool and 3 minutes walk to the beach at a slow rate. The space in the room was good as well. Plenty of room to put your stuff away , a TV if you needed it and a fridge that was stocked up every day with waters , beers and soft drinks. The toilet facilities were also good. The shower was spacious and not to closed in , a toilet and sink that were clean. All in all our stay in hotel playa pesquero was amazing and we hope to come back soon! The reason for 4 stars and not 5 was the weather but that is no fault of the hotel, that is our holiday experience
This complex is huge, the great thing about it they have golf carts and a train going round all the time to take people all over the site. The beach is lovely, and thanks to Fidel our waiter for the 2 weeks while we lay on our loungers. The down side of such a big complex was the dinning room which was vast and hard to navigate, so we used the smaller one.The rooms were ok, we took our own kettle so we could have tea in the morning. All in all a nice complex with everything you could want in it.
This is one resort definitely in need of some to. The shower in our room did not work properly and in the adjacent room our travelling companions also experienced difficulty. We were there on a cycling holiday and due to the backwards policy of the state owned transfer company we had to bribe our bikes on to the bus. Those arriving with bikes be warned! That was certainly not the fault of the hotel but it put a negative pall on the start of the trip. The staff are friendly but do not expect any speed in service, but you are on vacation so it's not that big a deal. The food has improved a great deal since I was in Cuba last and there was lots of interesting menu choices.Skip the hassle of the a la carte, they are not worth it.The rooms are very basic and nothing to write home about. The beach though is amazing, best I've seen. The water is clear and calm generally. The maid service must be rationed the supplies because I had to keep asking for soap, towels and one two occasions I did not get the requisite beer and water in the mini bar. The allocation of water is ridiculous though. One bottle for two persons a day. Considering the heat..It should be one per person. The cycling in Cuba though is awesome!! The drivers are very courteous and give you lots of room. The roads were no worse than home and the people we encountered were lovely. Take old tubes, tires, jerseys with you to hand out to the local cyclists...They are very appreciative. If you do take stuff to give to the locals, my advice is to give it to folks off the resort. They all ready get enough. Despite all my observations..I would go to Cuba again cycling. Just know this five star is a Canadian 2.5.
