Our 2nd stay at this hotel. Rooms large and yes they are in need of some TLC but they are comfortable , clean and everything works , most importantly the air con , which is excellent. Fridge in room filled daily with beers and soft drinks, all included in the "all inclusive " package. Pools large and plenty of sunbeds. Bar and coffee train serves high quality drinks, cocktails and coffees. The beech is a dream, soft white sand leading to blue waters which are excellent for snorkeling and seeing the array of highly coloured fish amongst the Coral. The bookable restaurants serve first class food with friendly service and smile. The "buffett" restaurants have a plentyfull supply of food , catering for all tastes. Food is available 24 hrs a day, with afternoon hog roast, doughnuts, ice creams and even candy floss. Staff friendly and welcoming , a great relaxing atmosphere, with entertainment available should you want it. A good choice of trips to local areas, cigar factory etc, good value. I would stay here again without any hesitation, love this hotel and country.
I hate to write this review but the food really needs looking at some of the a la carte restaurants are really poor but the romantico is really good, the buffet restaurant is repetitive and food not hot enough and under cooked yes there are a lot of flies about and birds flying around which unexceptionable for a 5atar resort but the staff are amazing they work so hard and are so polite that's why I hate writing this review but the problem lies with the management to make sure these problems are corrected as myself and my daughter were so ill whilst we were there and had sickness and dihorrea twice which ruined our holiday which was for our 25th wedding anniversary, also the pools were dirty which again need to be addressed for hygiene reasons, the beach is amazing and the staff in the lobby bar are lovely, we had some issues with reception staff as we were trying to get more bottled water as our tap water was brown after the hurricane but we were told we were only allowed 1 bottle per room so we pleaded and got an extra bottle only on one occasion we asked again but it never got delivered to our room which is disappointing as there was a serious hygiene risk and I was ill for the second time of our holiday, I would urge a senior member of staff to address these issues soon as the actual hotel is so nice it's a shame to spoil it with the most important things such as food and hygiene, but thanks to all the wonderful staff for looking after us during the hurricane you really are a credit to your country
We had a great family holiday here last month. Staff couldn't do enough the whole time. There's lots to do in the resort, and the beach was amazing with free catamarans, pedellos, and canoeing! We missed the food back home after a week as we got tired of eating just seafood and red meats, but everything else was perfect.
Ok. Will start with the good. Staff are wonderful and appear very geniune. Now the food. BUFFET so much choice but very poorly cooked meats tough. Fish in the corner there 3 days and was so tough it offered a fight with my husband. A la cartes below standard with nothing to write home about.Air conditioning very bad everywhere. Even in restaurants where my husband wore long trousers. Rooms tired and grubby. Faeces on a "clean" towel. Our opinion is that returning guests have never been to other Caribbean islands or hotels. It was always a heavy heart when we had to eat. HOWEVER. We then upgraded to Premium for last 3 days and our world changed. Amazing food in beautiful air conditioned restaurants. The room was to die for so clean and spacious and the staff wonderful. We will NEVER return to the darkside or recommend but would return to Premium in a heartbeat. Well worth thde extra £100ish per night. We did go when Irma hit and my heart goes out to the cubans but we are appalled by the lack of support from Thomas Cook. Our opinion is based on fact and speaking to other seasoned tourists who have travelled the world tended to agree. We made friends with a lovely couple who also went to Premium Side and they agreed that year on year stabdards
I have read some reviews on here about Playa Pesquero I am probably one of the pickiest people on this planet ..... This hotel is so 'awful'. We are going back for the fourth consecutive year. NEVER have I found anyone in Cuba rude or only responding to tips. We were there at the end of hurricane Matthew last year I was very scared and several staff members constantly reassured me . They have a simple life and enjoy it people I know in the UK have millions and are as miserable as sin. The staff are there to serve you not to be your servants.Regarding flies in restaurant I guess no one has had a fly in their kitchen when the temp is only 20-25 let alone 35-40Whenever I have asked for food be it steak chicken lamb it has been provided and cooked as I askedAs for the pool there has just been a hurricane of enormous strength but they get on and do the best they can. In the uk we have heavy rain everything stops and everyone moansTo those who feel that way don't travel to this fabulous hotel stay at home and be miserable on your own
