Just got back yesterday from Playa Pesquero hotel. Overall I really enjoyed being here had a few little issues but not major! The room was good nice and big, we were in block 14 quite near the sea but we had the block facing the site not the sea. Room was large 2 large beds as a double we assumed it would be just one double bed but we didn't mind. Had a tv and seating in the room also. The bathroom had a full bath and shower witch was nice the bathroom was clean but it was a little grubby, could of done with a slight freshen up. We did have a few woodlouse bugs in the bathroom most morning so we did spay some bug spray around witch you must take with you! On the 2nd week of our holiday we had a rain storm.. now we went out for dinner and when we came back the room had flooded and the water ran out the front door from the sliding patio doors as we were on the ground floor. We rang reception 5 times and went to reception once as well to see what was taking so long. From 8pm till 1.30am we waited for the maid service to turn up to clean up some water as we only had 2 little towels in our room that hadn't got soaked so we couldn't clean much up. They spent about 5 minutes doing so it was still pretty wet. I know they can't help rain storms but I thought they would of had better ways of sorting it out without us having to wait over 5 hours in our room for them to come. Apart from that the rooms were fine. Swimming pool was massive and lots of deck chairs to choose from, I know they say don't save deck chairs but by 10/11am most chairs have towels on so we joined in and no one seemed to mind saving the deckchairs. The beach is lovely at the hotel but there wasn't half as many chairs available there. There's lots of restaurants to choose from on our 3rd day at the hotel we decided to book into some of the al a carte restaurants witch are free! We were told you can book at 4 once a week but we only got to book 3 overall as most had been booked up! I would recommend the romantica restaurants and the Italian (gondola) restaurant. We also went to the sea food one witch was okay. The staff were all lovely but I found it weird that they all seemed to want to be tipped and it's a bit awkward if you don't. I know it's nice to tip but it gets expensive if you tip everyone and we'd already paid a lot for this holiday so we didn't do much tipping. Me and my partner both had funny tummies a few days into the holiday not sure if it was the food or not. Last few days of our holiday we went to the buffet restaurant for dinner, they have a section where you can get fresh meat cooked. I asked for chicken and my partner asked for a pork chop. Both sat to eat them and they were raw... very very raw so we obviously didn't eat it. Was a bit worrying as we hadn't checked the night before when we ordered the same things! At lunch there's a chicken restaurant witch does the best fried chicken! Make sure you go there for lunch! Lots of things to do round Playa Pesquaro!30 mins bus from hotel to playa Esmeralda 5cuc return by bus has a little market and beautiful beach 45mins by bus to Holguin city cost 15cuc return, didn't go much on the city not what we expected. We booked through Thomas cook and did some excursions encluding Fantastica, included horse riding, swimming with dolphins and speed boats. We also went to Caeo Sateia island by boat witch was lovely a great day out! Would recommend doing that. Overall loved the hotel apart from the rain we had the best holiday :D would recommend the hotel to anyone just go easy on tipping and check the meat and you'll be fine 😂
We stayed from 28hFeb - 15h March .After staying here way back in 2005 when deciding to travel back to Cuba we picked this hotel,We only had a standard room. The room was large and clean my only gripe was no kettle, they do leave cups and saucers, luckily I packed my travel kettle .It is a large resort the coffee bar is great but wouldn't want to trek up there every morning.Food buffet was hit and miss ,we had pork cooked one evening and both mine and husbands was very under-cooked. The A LA Cartes were better we loved the Caribbean and Italian. The grill was great for lunch. The beach and pool are fantastic. You can always get a sunbed! The one thing I feel needs improving is evening entertainment, some variation from dancers more Cuban live music and maybe alternative family stage. We done dolphin excursion and it was not as good as our previous visit when the dolphnarium was also being refurbished, this time no actual swim or water ski ,only 3 dolphins. We done speed boats which is great fun.But by far the best trips we done were with a local tour guide Yuri cubaguider.com .He took us to Holguin hill de cross blimey take your walking shoes ,loads of steps.Yuri was great and gave us loads of information on Cuba ,we also went to Santiago de Cuba beautiful place well worth visiting.we done the aboriginal village good fun.Horse riding we also done with Yuri twice. He has a pontiac which is a real comfortable car .If you want a personal touch and want to see Cuba contact Yuri ,I emailed him before we arrived and he came to meet us at hotel to arrange what we wanted to do.He became a friend over the time we spent with him .W e are planning to return next year and would stay here again.
This was my second trip to playa Pesquero and just even better than last year. Staff the best cannot do enough to make your holiday enjoyable. I travel by myself some of the staff remembered me from last year which was really nice. The horse riding even better than last year. The lady whom cleaned my room left me a message she had written in English for me a lovely touch. I could not recommend anywhere better for someone to holiday Theban here as for the people whom write negatives about the food they either tell lies or need to go to spec savers because there is so much choice every day yes maybe the same choice let's start different fish choices and sea food vegetables which if in salad form somebody chops up what and how much you want and puts on your plate oh yes then there is soups, fruits and nuts . Finally the meats a choice daily of Chicken ,lamb pork oh and beef oh that's just the buffet the a la carte restaurants you can book as well oh forgot the mohijo bar at lunch time with best fried chicken then the beer garden snacks if you look at menu it's exceptional oh that's 24 hrs the Tattoria at lunchtime 3 course sit down meal lovely and the Pizza cooked on the beach at lunchtime brilliant anyway a big thank you to all the staff for making my holiday great again hope to see you all next year for another 5Star plus experience .
? never go back thomas cook reps dont any thing to help some of the staff all ways asking for money the food made me ill ever time i went for a evening meal there was food on the flor from th day before
This is our second visit to this beautiful place - when we left before in 2014 we went back home kicking and screaming! This trip was no different, there have been a few changes - namely the introduction of Premium service - that includes a butler service and a private pool. We stayed in the chalet next door to the one we stayed in last time - their service was yet again really good. They are a beautiful people on a fabulous island. Even when we got caught in the tail end of a tropical storm off Haiti and 80-90 mph winds were registered in the middle of the island. The storm lasted for about three days - but didn't dampen our spirits. This time we saw more of the island's interior and its people - where last time we saw mostly the beach and other coastal features. This time we traveled on a turn of 20th century steam train and saw both the real people of Cuba and some of the devastation cause by Hurricane Icke in 2008. We also went driving a speed boat as well as a revisit to the desert island we went to on the first visit in 2014. There was an issue with Health and Safety and food handling that we witnessed - however once we had spoken with our rep - it was resolved - quickly and efficiently. Very impressed with the speed of resolution. Considering that they now have 940 rooms - plus the Premium service to deal with - we still didn't want to leave. It is still a beautiful hotel, because of it's size and the way it's laid out it doesn't feel big at all. We met fabulous staff who recognized us immediately and greeted us as old friends. We are planning to go back in November - We love it
