Our Opinion

Some tour operators may rate this hotel 4 stars, which it is not. If your budget permits, we would suggest picking a better resort. Be Live Experience Varadero is an older property with some refurbishments. The beach here is excellent, like most of Varadero, and the location is close to town which some people like. Only recommended if the price is right and for travelers who don't mind basic accommodations and facilities.

Travelers return year after year to this hotel, located close to the heart of the action of Varadero. Activities abound for all ages, including water sports, dance lessons and Spanish lessons. Or surrender to the Latin rhythms pulsating in the on-site disco and dance the night away.
Location: Beachfront, 30 minutes from Juan Gualberto Gomez International Airport, 10 minutes to downtown Varadero.

We arrived and were dealt with quickly and efficiently Taken to our room by porter with our cases and that is where the service ended and the shock of the room sunk in, we went straight back to reception to ask if all the rooms were similar to be told we could have a better one tomorrow but not for the one night. The receptionist asked what we did not like: Apart from it looking old, dirty, mouldy and smelt there was not one thing going for the room. The bathroom had cracked tiles, dirty ground in dirt in the bath, toilet all stained, smell of sewage. even the floor was dirty with food and bits of debris from previous occupants, The next day we changed rooms only to find it was only slightly better. We called home to England to our tour operator only to be told that she had stayed there and had never ever had one single complaint. We asked to move hotel and pay more only to be told no availability anywhere. It was the longest week of our lives and we could not wait to leave. We hated getting ready in the evening and for 3 days we had no hot water. we hated going to bed as the smell of mould seem to come on stronger in the evenings. Food was extremely poor and the buffet was dirty. We lived on bananas and dried biscuits. I have never ever wanted to get home so much from a holiday

Top Worst Resort ever attended !!!

First of all, i want to back up my review by telling that I have been traveling around the Caribbean for almost 20 years in different countries and all kind of hotels. This was my second time in Cuba, visited Habana and Varadero for a week.In Habana we stayed at the Hotel Memories Miramar which was very good and was according to what you could expect for the price. We encountered no hurdle, besides that the checking was at 4 pm, which by standard I consider very late (I think 2 pm is the average). The best thing of the hotel is the beautiful swimming pool and… I think that would be it.The rooms (we booked 3 rooms for nine people) are in a deplorable state, dirty, stains of moisture, holes in the walls and the bathroom is the ugliest, the tub was filthy with dirt in the bottom, the bathroom faucets were paved with tartar, poor water pressure comes out of the water tap, tiles were broken, low light, shower pipe had leakage, the water escapes from the tub and the bathroom floor was all wet, broken dumpster, these are all facts no subjetives points of view. As it could be the poor quality of the toilet paper or the shampoo they make available. When going to a 4-star All Inclusive resort one expects a certain quality of food, which was disappointed in this case, repeated meals, often cold, overcooked meat, little or no variety of fruits as desserts. The buffet is a real disappointment, there are other restaurants (El Sitio) which is a bit better but the selection of dishes is always the same. The alcoholic drinks are of very low quality and I had to always be asking them to add a little more alcohol. It depends a lot on the bartender who serves the mojito if it's going to be good or not ...I think there are better options for the same price, to avoid at all costs

Great 2 Weeks

We were there first 2 weeks Dec 2017. We asked for a quiet room and were place on ground floor facing the road. I thought OK, I'll change rooms in the morning, but the room was so nice and quiet that we stayed there for 2 weeks. The hotel has very many areas to sit and socialize which we liked very much. We met people from all over the world because of the nice social areas. We liked the beach restaurant best for lunch ( table service from Menu). and Very Good service. BBQ Ribs , Chicken , Fries , Pizza etc.Snack Bar behind the Pool bar was great for a quick burger or hot dog and fries.Buffet restaurant had excellent quality selections, always a table set with clean dinnerware. For breakfast they always had the egg station and the crepes station,At times the taters were not hot , but the omelette chef will heat them up on the grill while cooking your eggs I had desert crepes too many days with maple syrup bananas., they are just too good to say No.The 2 A la Carte restaurants were a nice change, better service, better wine. slightly better food. We went 5 times in 2 weeks. If you like fancy tables with candles then go for it. We preferred to not have a pre defined dining time.Would we go back to this hotel.... Yes

OK, in need of some TLC

Checkin was the bare minimum at best. No info about what the resort had to offer etc, just given room key, 1 internet card each and wristband. We walked off trying to find our villa, asking staff along the way. Then a porter found us on his buggy and took us and got us settled in. We paid for a villa, which was pretty poor. The good thing was view and that it was just one villa away from the beach, restaurant right outside and away from the noise of the hotel (although can still just hear the entertainment at night which starts at 9pm).the main door to the villa was broken and took over a week to be fixed (the key card wasnt working so had to leave the door open) The villa had 3 seperate bedrooms and a shared living/dining area. Our room was small and in some serious need of TLC. I am assuming they are slowly renoing/updating and ours just hadn't been touched yet. My bedspread was stained from mold and the shower curtain needed to be chucked out. We also didn't have any toilet paper (lucky we had brought our own tissues) but was rectified the next day. The main things were reasonably clean however. I think with new curtains (that actually fit the curtains), new fixings and linens would make the place look better. There was 1 room in the villa not doing anything that could have been a kitchen in the past, if that was made into one would be awesome. Our villa didn't have a balcony which some do, so nowhere really to hang up wet clothes etc to dry. The resort itself was ok, The beach was awesome, Felt very safe at the resort and to be honest around Cuba in general, main restaurant staff were awesome and friendly. Food ok, if I ever go back I'm taking ketchup and jam, Resort pretty close to main Varadero, hop on bus stop 5 minute walk away (even closer when they finish the hotel being built just down the road and the road opens back up). Drinks are pretty strong, wifi spotty at best (but it is Cuba). I would recommend to the resort to have better check-in procedures. Give guests an info sheet at least of the resort (with a map) and activities they offer at checkin. Not sure I would return to this resort.

November-December 2017

We just came back from 2 weeks vacation in this resort (Nov.27-Dec.11/2017).WEATHER = we had 7 good days and 7 bad days (rain, wind and cold). Vacation in winter time is probably gambling with the weather (you might be lucky but never know). Best months to visit Varadero are March to August.FOOD = good, served in good restaurant. Food is repetitive if you stay 2 weeks but overall good. Always something to eat. They have good pasta, pizza, ...2 A La Carte Restaurants for reservation (French and Chinese) and 1 optional Cuban A La Carte on the beach (no need reservation).BEACH = excellent sandy beach with enough shade and chairs. 2 good guys helping guests with the beach chairs (tip them).POOL = good big pool with pool bar in the center. Enough tables and chairs in the bar.ENTERTAINMENT = they have some entertainment event every evening, not great but good for 3 to 4 stars hotel.ROOM = we stayed in room 1201 on the second floor facing pool. Room was OK. Nice view to the pool and stage area but noisy in the evening (entertainment up to 11PM) and early morning (staff cleaning pool/stage area 7:30AM). We didn't mind noise and were happy with a room. Close to the pool, lobby and restaurants. In the room we had TV and small refrigerator but we barely used them. No thermostat in the room, just wall switch to turn AC on/off. It was December time, in night time we didn't need AC and we kept it off. Room was in main hotel complex. They also have some Villa rooms with some advantages (private small pool, thermostat for AC...) but I am not sure is it worth paying more for this???Hotel is under a new management (Be Live Experience) and they have overall good service for the price you pay. I highly recommend this hotel.
