Our Opinion

Some tour operators may rate this hotel 4 stars, which it is not. If your budget permits, we would suggest picking a better resort. Be Live Experience Varadero is an older property with some refurbishments. The beach here is excellent, like most of Varadero, and the location is close to town which some people like. Only recommended if the price is right and for travelers who don't mind basic accommodations and facilities.

Overview

Travelers return year after year to this hotel, located close to the heart of the action of Varadero. Activities abound for all ages, including water sports, dance lessons and Spanish lessons. Or surrender to the Latin rhythms pulsating in the on-site disco and dance the night away.
Location: Beachfront, 30 minutes from Juan Gualberto Gomez International Airport, 10 minutes to downtown Varadero.

wonderful peoples but...

This hotel is 19 years old and in desperate need of love. The employees are very nice and will do a lot to accommodate you. The food is not the best but was very decent. This hotel should be a 2 stars in my opinion, i had to change rooms 3 times to find a correct one with everything working. The last room had everything working but one of the 2 beds was totally worned out. The was only Cristal available for the hole week, only one bar had mint for Mojitos and not all day. the beach bar is sort of far away from the beach compare to the usual beach bar. The shows at night are good and diversified the animation team are doing a good job. The beach is Varadero's beach so they are superb :) the restaurant El Sitio witch is toward the beach offer's Somme good daily meals and Lili is wonderfulP.S. A special Thanks to Rayden a westjet employe who was very helpfull.

Please listen carefully

I visit this hotel for 1 night, and is the worse hotel in Cuba! Let just start with the Villa! With an empty freezer! The lobby bar want you to pay for the beer! Oh one more thing that is going to shock you even more!!.. as I sat down near the pool at approximately 5pm for the afternoon brunch (burgers & fries) I literally witness one of the maintenance workers pick up the dirty plastic plates from the garbage and recycled each one, place them together and put it in a room by the grill! As they re-wash the plastic plates and place them back to be re-used for the fries and burgers.. if you don't believe me waste your money and sit back and watch the most disgusting show!

Good but not great

I guess Cuba doesn't know the meaning of air conditioning. When we arrived, the front desk help were dripping in sweat, that was our first warning.......how can you keep the help efficient when they are working in a heat box? Anyway, the checking was fast for 14 in the family and they tried to keep us together. They were patient and helpful. Mind you, in Cuba the double beds are pretty narrow, and we had two adults and one child (12 years old) and the two adults were pretty uncomfortable sleeping in one bed. The rooms were stuffy. The a/c hardly worked. One family had to move to another wing due to lack of ac.My room, which I roomed with my grandson, was the pits. The lampshades were broken, the a/c vent which was at the entrance to the room, dripped in your head as you come in, there were only two dim lights in the room. The closet doors did not slide well. I had to call my son to move them. Then there's the bathroom, no mirror, lamp shades broken, bathtub looked dirty but just stained, the shower head was plugged with rust, and we couldn't take a shower. After I complained, they did change the shower head, and they added a lamp to the bedroom. This is an all inclusive so the food was included, but the buffet food was the pits. They have two other restaurants, one french, one chinese, but they need reservations and it was booked for the rest of the week. The food at the pool burgers (Cuban style), hotdogs, ham sandwiches was ok and to me the best in the entire hotel. There are no oceanfront rooms, and the beach is about 3 blocks from the main hotel, as you have to walk by the gigantic pool, bar/restaurant, another small bar, another restaurant, then the bungalows, and finally you arrive at the beach! The best part is the beach, but then the beach is always there. We took a few kayaks out, and a paddle boat. The service at beach was ok.The restaurants had very good service, and that's because these people work for tips.I asked the front desk what hey charged for these rooms, and she said $245. and all rooms were the same. With such a beautiful ocean, who would want to be in the pool unless you want the drinks? I only went in the pool once to play with my grandson, but when I saw a blob the size of a tennis ball of black hair, I went back to the ocean and so did my family.

Trip of a Lifetime!

I stayed in this hotel for my grad trip with over 700 grads from Canada! The hotel did an amazing job accommodating this many students. Loved the pool and the staff! Though i had a few problems with my room, my experience was great. The bar tenders were amazing at keeping up with all of us kids, and even when busy they kept a smile on their faces.

Nice stay @ b live experience

I really enjoyed my stay @ be live experience varadero: beach was beautifull, chairs were available at the beach everyday and staff (almost) always smiling and cheerfull - special thanks to the pancakes cooker. As for the food, everyone could find his pleasure @ the buffet. To be mentionned: if fed up with the buffet: possibility to have meals in some other places in the hotel: chinese food and "french food"...not bad at all (as long as you're not being too difficult and remain open minded) Concerning the rooms: it's all about you and your luck: some of them definitely need to be restored (i.e.: bathroom in my case) and in that perspective: work needs to be done. However: rooms are cleaned everyday. To be mentionned: possibility to enjoy fine beverages in several spots all around the hotel (coffee corner, bar close to the swimming pool, little bar close to the beach, bar downstairs of the reception with a nice view on the swimming pool and, last but not least, the "mirador bar" which will provide you with outstanding cocktails. To be mentionned as well: animations all day long and shows at night. Long story short: the hotel is far from being perfect (you have to remind that you're in Cuba) but has lots to offer .
