Our Opinion
This resort offers a pleasant stay for guests staying within the Varadero strip. The small-scale, boutique style of this resort is a pleasant change from the usual large resorts that you'd find along the strip. The quiet and serene pace of this hotel makes it a great destination for those wanting rest and relaxation. The food options are OK in this resort. Because it's a smaller scale restaurant, you won't ever have to wait in line. The property is well-kept and maintained regularly. There are plenty of loungers by the pool and the beach, so you won't ever have to play the towel game with any other guests. A very pleasant stay overall.
Please note that hotel standards in Cuba tend to be lower than in other Sun Destinations. Unless travelers are familiar with the resort or Cuban hotels, we typically recommend that travelers book a minimum 4 star resort when traveling to Cuba.

Overview
A cozy Mediterranean style 143-room property the Be Live Las Morlas has become a favourite with Canadians because of its wonderful combination of great service, beautiful surroundings and easy access to everything.

Location: Directly on the beach, a 5 minute drive downtown and 30 minutes from the airport.

Excellent housekeeping & Friendly Staff

My sister, two close friends and I stayed at this resort in November 2016. It was extremely clean and organised. The staff treated us like we were family. Enjoyed the proximity to everything, beach, gym, lounges, buffet and pool. Will go again in 2017. Loved it. The food was the best I have had in Cuba and this was our 5th year vacationing in Cuba.

There are rooms with upstairs lofts to accomodate 4 people

It was quiet, clean and relaxing. The entertainment and pool recreation are an agreeable distance from the rooms so that the noise isn't all pervasive. There is a good gym, the food is satisfying. Location of hotel is at the tip of the main avenue of Varadero and access to public transport is convenient.

Relaxing

Travelled as a couple between 26th of Nov and 3rd Dec. After reading many horror stories about the hotels in Cuba I can honestly say I found this one great. It's a smaller hotel and it is pro dominantly Italian in fact we didn't see any Canadians or English speaking guests (as first language) at all. The room was clean and everything worked, the air con and fridge looked brand new along with the wash room facilities. I would say it would be nice if you wasn't charged for wifi in reception and for a safe as I expect them to be included. The food was a little limited but you could always get fresh meat and fish cooked on the grill, fresh pasta from a man that was as enthusiastic with the first dish to the last of the day, fresh salad etc etc so I would say it was of a high standard and I have a very sensitive stomach. The burger bar by the beach was disappointing as he cooked a frozen burger for 6 min and then served and seemed upset that i requested for him to cook it some more, in fact he offered me his burger flipper which I accepted and cooked it myself. The beach is beautiful and I doubt anyone would say any different. The sea can be dangerous if a red flag is flying and can also be very calm. The water is very shallow but the current can be strong! If anyone finds my sun glasses let me know. The week we visited Cuba was the week Fidel Castro passed away so we experienced the 9 days of mourning soooo no music apart from light music around the bar at night, no entertainment at all on the island, bars closed all over apart from in the hotels and no alcohol sold apart from what is served at the hotel and airport, this obviously affected our stay as no entertainment and no other English speaking people to chat to but it was good to be in Cuba during such an important time in their history. We had a great time in Cuba and I'm so glad I experienced the island before America opens a MacDonalds on every corner like the rest of the world. It is a poor country but it's seems very safe to explore. Give a little tip here and there and it's greatly appreciated but the service was great before the tip also. I'm not sure I would return as I like to meet new people and unless you are Italian this isn't the place for that. I really needed a relaxing week and that's exactly what I got, thank you to all the staff & Viva La Revolucion 🇨🇺 Jay & Sarah x

A Big Thank You to the Beach Lifeguard Staff and Doctor

First off Resort is a small and not too much walking around anywhere you go. Short walk to the ocean, restaurants, snack bar and main street. My wife and I are 60 years old and prefer smaller resorts. Next door was the International Hotel and still under construction so if you walk to town you must walk to the highway so it took us and extra 20 min walk to the Beetle Bar. This hotel caters to Italians and the first 2 days there we found no one spoke English. People told us its 85 % Italian so we felt out of place.. But during the week more of a international mix of people arrived which made it much better. We were changed from room from 108 to 109 because of a water leak was splashing me as I slept but they changed our room easily. Front desk staff was oh so pleasant. We only paid $849. total Canadian Dollars and our value were good for our evaluation. We booked a standard room and we received a 2 story with small winding stairs. Excellent for us. But note these stairs are not for heavy or wide people. 2 TVs 2 Bathrooms, 4 beds.. wow. no balcony for ground floor rooms.Food was excellent. Coffee the best in the world ...Selection of food was good. Never go hungry. Wine and beer were also excellent. Lots of beach chairs and umbrellas were available. Beach snack bar only served hamburgers, hotdogs and fries except for one day they had a band playing music and lots of food served there. I guess it was off season 3rd week of nov 2016Now please read on>>>>>>importantJust after a long walk along the beach with my wife, we took a paddle boat out. While holding the boat for my wife to go on and she sat on the far side. I somehow whispered out her name and I blacked out and became unconsciousness in the water lying face first. Time ticked by as i lay in the ocean my wife not realizing what was happening. She thought perhaps I was just cooling off. She noticed my body floating face down then she jumped in and screamed for help. The amazing life guard staff immediatly jumped in and dragged me to the shore. My wife ( nurse ) check for pulse and no pulse. A person who identified as a Doctor ( Russian ) check for pulse but no pulse. CPR was just started and I spit up water a coughed and came to moments later.. Thanking Yurizan, Mario Herrera , Yairan Echemedia, CrusRoja...and the rest of the Nautical Team for Great Work.. Thanks Guys.. I appreciate your help on Tuesday 15th Nov 2016..i will come back in the future to thank you again Also big thanks to Reynaldo beach restaurant who cared so much

Quaint Hotel

we stayed for 7 days in October. Our initial impression of the hotel was very good! The lobby area is very inviting to sit and relax. The front desk girls are efficient. All the other staff we dealt with were very friendly and helpful. We've been to Cuba several times, so we know what to expect for food options, however, the buffet food here was below even Cuban standards. The pasta station is usually my go to if there's nothing else I like, but it wasn't good either. the noodles were about the consistency of licorice. Most of the options were not hot. we always found something to eat - and the bbq grill at the beach was good - but overall the food was disappointing. We met a couple who had been to this resort several times, and said that the food had always been good in the past, so not sure what happened during the week we were there. The bathrooms in the lobby and by the beach were always clean. Our room was always very clean. No issues with the rooms, other than our shower only had a part door, and no curtain, so the entire floor got soaked every time we showered.Lots of chairs at the beach and at the pool. Lots of shade areas also. They definitely cater to Europeans. There were very few english speaking guests during the week we were there. All of the staff speak several languages, so communication isn't a problem.Overall, it's a very cute resort - I like that you don't have to walk long distances to get anywhere on the resort. Not sure that I would return because of the poor quality of the food.
