Our Opinion
Please note that hotel standards in Cuba tend to be lower than in other Sun Destinations. Unless travelers are familiar with the resort or Cuban hotels, we typically recommend that travelers book a minimum 4 star resort when traveling to Cuba.

Overview
The action-packed BelleVue Puntarena Beach Fun 4 Life Resort offers a fun and casual ambiance, with an array of sports and activities to keep you entertained every day and every night! The impressive kilometer-long stretch of white-sand beach is pure relaxation to lounge on.

Location: Beachfront, 3 minutes to Varadero, 25 minutes from the airport.

Great location, inexpensive

This was our first trip to Cuba back in 2011. This hotel was sufficient for the price. I believe we paid $712 each for a week. The beach is breathtaking, as it is in all of Varadero. We awoke in the middle of the night to the worst smell I have experienced. I thought they were gassing us to death lol. Apparently it is the sulfer mill that creates the smell in the middle of the night. The trick is to turn on your air conditioner. Then you don't smell it. Otherwise, it was a great first experience for us in Cuba

Second Visit, Still An Awesome Hotel For Me

My second visit to this hotel. Had just as good a time as the first. Room was clean enough to make us happy. The workers there do such a good job. I think once you get to know the workers they work a bit more hard to please you. I tip often so that only makes sense. But I've made a few friends who work there and I would call them friends for life. I recommend talking to them in a personal way, so that you can learn about their lives. That's important. Don't go there thinking since it's a third world country you can treat them like workers. The pools were clean as far as I could see.The food lacks in the flavor department but you can always bring your own favorite seasonings. I recommend leaving a large tip your first day so that the server will remember you for the rest of your trip. You will be seated and be well taken care of thereafter. Distance to the beach is so minimal.I will be returning in October for sure for my third visit. The pool bar is run by a woman named Grey. Best. Bartender. Ever. Very personable and friendly. Always so nice to go back and see her again. Once she knows you she will have your drinks ready when she sees you entering the pool. There were more younger guests this visit so it was much louder. But that can be fun too! Can't wait to be back!!

Great Price & Location

Overdue Review- Stayed in September 2016.Even though the hotel is not directly situated on the beach, the location is fantastic. The hotel is a short stroll from the main strip. There is a Cadeca (currency exchange ) across the main road at the Arenas Blancas hotel. You'll get a much better exchange rate there than at the front desk. The beach is easy to get to outside the main entrance just follow the side road to the left as you're coming out. The location was great for me because I like to roam around downtown and the hotel is basically on the doorstep of the main strip . Check in was slow and tedious . This is nothing new to me as I've been to Cuba a few times and understaffing at the front desk is a common problem. Other guests were less than impressed and probably gave them a bad impression but the woman working was helpful and did the best she could. There was no bellhop so I was just explained the general direction of where my building was and how to get there . Luckily I found a security guard on the way and asked for help. He happily showed me to my room so I got there quickly anyway . The rooms are pretty basic. I was at one of the buildings in the back so it was relatively quiet . A/C worked great , had a flat screen tv and a decent sized balcony . Hot water was hit and miss a couple of days. The buffet was typical Cuban all inclusive fare. Repetitive , bland and uninspiring. I typically only ate breakfast and sometimes lunch to fuel up before hitting the town or the beach . The food wasn't bad and I never got sick ... just sick of the repetition of offerings . The bars were good and pretty lively . There was a bar in the lobby of my building too so I was never far from one. Bartenders were efficient , friendly and fun to talk to and joke with . I tipped a few pesos here and there but they didn't have their hands out or anything . The pools and grounds were well maintained. It's advertised as a 3.5* and it fit the bill. There was maintenance going on in the main lobby a few days so at least they're trying to maintain the property . However , avoid the elevator if possible . Only the service elevator worked in my building and it was less than comforting . I was lucky enough to be on the first floor so no issue for me . The layout of the resort is pretty easy to navigate . I had no issues finding my way . Overall , it's a good hotel. I got a bargain for the price so I couldn't be bothered with much anyways . I paid around 650$ for 7 nights (flight and taxes in). I met a few people that paid even less on their last minute tickets . How could you go wrong with that price ? There are much better hotels in Varadero , sure, but for the price and location I was satisfied . I'm in my mid 20s and travelled solo. Even though it was off season the hotel was relatively busy. Made friends and had a blast with people from Ontario , Quebec , Russia and Germany . I would recommend this hotel for a younger clientele like myself. For couples seeking a romantic getaway or seniors looking for tranquility.. I'd probably look into a different hotel .
