We stayed at this hotel from July 3,2017 to July 8,2017. We arrived at the hotel around 10 pm. We were told our room was in the south side( the beautiful villa). The front desk woman merely pointed as to where we were suppose to go. We attempted to find our room ourselves however it was dark and we couldn't find it therefore having to walk back to the lobby to ask for more specific instructions. At no point was it offered to us to have a staff person walk us to our room as it would have been the courteous gesture to do since it was so dark outside. Upon arriving in our hotel room we soon realized there was NO TOILET PAPER in the room or HAND SOAP. We tried calling the front desk but of course NO answer. Since by now it was late and we needed toilet paper I attempted to go and grab what I could find from the bathroom by the snack bar. TO my surprise , only 1 out of 2 stalls had toilet paper and again no hand soap. The next morning we told the RUDE AND UNHELPFUL staff at the front desk that we had no toilet paper and could we get some, our response was merely OK. Of course we returned to our room after being at the beach to find that we still had NO TOILET PAPER. We had to find the cleaning lady and tell her to give us some toilet paper which seemed to be a big inconvenience to her. Our room was cleaned only once in 5 days , after we had to ask. WE also had to ask for fresh towels. Instead of receiving bath towels , we got hand towels. 6 little towels for 2 adults and my daughter. We have travelled many times to Cuba and We are well aware of what to expect however we have never experienced such rude staff in all our travels. It seemed like an inconvenience to them to get us water at meals or to get a drink at certain bars. The standard of HYGIENE at this hotel is ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. Barely any toilet paper in stalls,no hand soaps in washrooms, tables, plates and cutlery were dirty and the list goes on and on. Feces on the floor and all over THE toilet by the snack bar. The pool in the South side was gross. Barely maintained and cleaned. Basically every morning I was taking out cups from the main pool as they floated by me. I would like to know how your staff cleans their hands without having soap in your resort facilities. While waiting to use the bathroom cause yes, I did get traveller's diarrhea ( BIG SURPRISE) I observed the cleaning lady by the main buffet clean the toilet seat and then move on to cleaning the faucets and sink with the same RAG!!!!!!! GROSS!! Also don't understand how management can allow people to smoke in clearly designated (WITH SIGNS ALL OVER) to smoke everywhere?!?! WHY do you bother to have non smoking signs if your own front line staff smokes while working? NOT A KID SAFE ENVIRONMENT CANADIANS should also be aware that they will require a deposit of 15 CUC each for beach towels which is not mentioned anywhere by SUNWING. WHICH if you do the math, is almost $25 for a towel. RIP OFF, IF YOU DARE TO GO ,BRING YOUR OWN TOWEL. Overall we will rate this hotel as a 1 STAR and that's being generous. This experience has left us with a disgusting taste of CUBA not to mentioned that my daughter and I are still sick and will probably required a doctor's visit. I will be contacting SUNWING regarding this hotel as the health concerns I saw could seriously make someone very ill. The beach and entertainment were the only aspect that made this trip bearable. The staff is so unhelpful that their is absolutely no point in forwarding your concerns to them, I suggest simply taking your business elsewhere. I would never return to this hotel. Not even for free nor would I recommend it to my worst enemy. CANADIAN travelers enter this hotel with caution. Perhaps speak to your doctor before hand as you may end up sick like us. BRING YOUR OWN TOWELS,TOILET PAPER,HAND SOAP, AND ANTI-DIARRHEA MEDICATION.ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING EXPERIENCE
We came back from Cuba just a few days ago. All in all it was a wonderful trip. We spent 8 nights at Brisas and two in Havana ( see my other review about our hotel Iberostar Parque Central ) All in all we had a great stay in Brisas, we probably got their best room, (417) it was HUGE, with ocean and pool view, air condition was working and our maid Martha was the sweetest, always provided outstanding cleaning :)We mostly stayed on the beach which was beautiful, the most stunning ive ever seen :) The beachbar was great however you have to hurry up if you want Mojitos since they ran out of mint a lot (i'm not saying its their fault, the demand was HUGE) The pool area was also nice with various pools and two jacuzzis, a lot of sunbeds, and a great shadow/sun ratio. I personally loved the load cuban music by the pool, since we could also enjoy it from our balcony, and hey this is Cuba, why are you here if the music bothers you?My favourite part of the hotel was the beautiful palm-garden, so many greenm so many flowers and palm trees. We really enjoyed the cappucino bar in the mornings, always smiling service and good quality beverages, the lobby bar was also great, all of our drinks were perfectly made. All you have to do is smile and ask nicely and they will take their time to make you a nice drinks. I saw a lot of grumpy, rude guests getting drinks in a plastic cap, well i dont feel sorry for them, thats what you get if you mistreat the staff. The staff was always friendly, always smiling, polite and nice. ( I think we were also always treated them with respect and greeted them with a smile :) ) The food is not perfect but it's true to a lot places in Cuba, food in general is not the reason you go there, However, we always found something to eat, grilled fish, chicken, beef, pork and fresh fruits and vegetables, you can never go wrong with these. Their Lobster is absolutely a MUST, it was perfectly made, we had it a few times over our stay as it was soo good! In summary, we loved our stay in Brisas, the hotel is not perfect, but also, Cuba is not for everyone, sometimes you just have to take things with a smile and move on, instead of spending your holiday at the reception complaining about things the staff often has no control over. This hotel's string points are the beautiful beach and garden, great location, great drinks, smiling staff, and good vibes :) We will definitely return with more friends and family in the near future! Thanks for having us Brisas,Cintia and Frederik from 417 :)
After a lovely time visiting Havana my wife and I decided to spend some time in a resort she had visited a while ago, the Brisas el Caribe. I found the hotel to have some nice points, but also some very significant flaws that I struggled to overlook, as follows:Pros:- The hotel beach is incredible, the best I have ever seen. Music was low key and I was able to relax wonderfully on it.- The nightly entertainment might lack variety, but the dancers and band that performed almost every night during our stay were genuinely excellent. You would pay good money to see worse.- The hotel complex and pool has a great pool, many facilities and bars (on paper, see cons below) and provided some good activities (like an excellent catamaran ride).- Like others have mentioned, on arrival we were offered a room that was awful, but when we asked for another room we got given a much better one with a nice balcony. Tip: try and get one on the higher floors.Cons:- Many of the bars and restaurants closed early or were not open as advertised. For example the Piano bar did not open once during our visit and the Terrace bar only opened once. The main bar in the complex then shut by 10pm, which led to people massing around bars before closing desperately trying to order 4 drinks each to keep them going the rest of the night. For an all-inclusive resort this seemed madness.- It was very difficult to get good information on what was available and when. Published information was not correct and staff would often be unable or unwilling to help. Apparently the only information they have is for the on-season and those who visit in the off-season will have to use ESP.- While some staff were incredibly nice and helpful (especially the guy who made the omelettes and one super waiter), others were not. I experienced more counts of rudeness in one week then I have in all the hotels I have stayed at in 20 years of travelling put together. For example one restaurant official seemed to take perverse delight in refusing a request to come 15 minutes later to eat in the rudest and most patronising manner possible. This did not make for a relaxing experience.- The food. Oh my. I had been cautioned not to expect high standards of cuisine from an all-inclusive and was braced for such, but the quality of food comfortably limboed under even these diminished expectations. The main restaurant was closed without warning and the alternatives were.awful. Although there were good quantities of food available, the quality and selections were poor and the standards of hygiene were the worst I have ever seen, with reheated meat and flies absolutely sworming over uncovered food. Given the lack of alternatives we had to eat what was available, but I suffered with repeated attacks of diarrhea throughout my stay and afterwards. We did complain about this and received an apology and a bottle of the house rum, but this did little to make up for the lost time and general upset. To summarise, if you like spending time on a great beach and pool and do not care much for food and/or have an iron colon, you could have a good time at this hotel. It is impossible to overstate how good the beach is and I can entirely believe that some people would rate this hotel higher than me, especially if you visit in season when more of the facilities will presumably be open. However, as an individual who requires consistently basic standards of quality in food, drink and service to be met, I found the overall experience very disappointing and I would never return, even for free. Hence 2 stars.
My husband and I spent a week at this resort this past April. It was our second visit and we loved it!! It had been a few years since the first visit and they have renovated the lobby area and it looks beautiful. Staff here are absolutely amazing. Everyone from the front desk, to Yisel and Rey in the restaurant and Miguel at the coffee bar. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. We got a complimentary upgrade and it was perfect. Melba, our room attendant was great and very personable. Our room was always spotless. The beach is one of the best beaches we have been to. The food was great as well. Lots of variety in the buffet restaurant and also at the 24 hour snack bar and beach BBQ. We are already planning our next visit this November for my birthday and we are bringing family and friends with us to celebrate. Cant wait to see everyone again!!
We stayed in cuba for total two weeks and total 5 nights in Varadero. We spent 3 amazing nights in Hotel Naviti and went to Trinidad for the following two nights. After that my husband and i decided to end our Cuba trip by spending the last two night in a varadero all inclusive report and just relax. I saw Brissa and found it with ok review so we decided to give it a go. But it's really awful, we cannot find anything right in this hotel. Room is moldy and filthy. Bathtub is rusty and mirror with huge stain on it. Curtain and bed sheet also with stain. One door was missing from the wardrobe. Ceiling was about to be falling off and light as well. We were thinking ok, it's fine only if the food and drinks are ok. However, they were also terrible. I had sand in all the drinks I have ordered no matter it was ice coffee, hot coffee, or sparking water. The food area was also dirty. For lunch, they put all the food buffet outdoor and you can see all birds and flies also enjoyed food directly from the buffet plates. For dinner, they served BBQ pork but they were all raw. The dining area very dirty, and no staff there was willing to clean as least the table or chair for you. After the first horror day, we decided to check out one day early and asked for the refund for the day. But the service counter did whatever they can to ignore us. We requested to see their manager and everytime they replied he will come back in half hour but from 9am to 11Am and several time returned to the counter , we didn't see him at all. Service counter were not helping and no will to help us at all. In the end we decide to check out directly and shifted to our previous hotel Naviti. It was a right decision because we spent our last day in Cuba worryless. Anything, please avoid this hotel. It is terrilble.
