Location: Beachfront, 30 minutes from Juan Gualberto Gomez International Airport, 10 minutes to downtown Varadero.
All the staff makes you feel welcome. We have been to this hotel 5 times and have had no problems with anything. The staff over the years remember you and go out of there way to satisfy your stay.right from the front desk girls to the maid anielkys in preticuler goes the extra mile for you . Jorgi the morning cook remembers you year after year and is always bright and cheery first thing in the morning makes your day worth getting up for. Omar has become part of our family very friendly to everyone who comes to the outside bar the Havana club. And of Course his side kick Alfredo .
Been going to this same resort for 8-9 years and never get disappointed. Staff are really nice treat you like family rooms and resort is clean even while they were very busy and being full all week .Big thanks to ,Gisselle and Andrea for making our stay the best it could have ever been. My wife had her birthday the week we were there and they made it a day we will never forget . We will going back next year for sure . Have been to Cuba 5 times. Love Cuba but this hotel had to have been the most outdated run down place we have stayed in all of Cuba. We arrived at night and we're given room 113 in the oldest least well kept part of the hotel. The room smelled, there was no cover on the electrical panel, toilet and tub drains were plugged and the AC rattled loudly. It was sadly in need of a paint job. Staff was excellent. We moved to room 259 on main floor where it was far better and overlooked the pool. The worst about our stay was the food. Very very plain repetitious and mostly needed to be restocked all the time. The buffet was not big enough to handle the number of people therefore there were lineups at the doors and people madly rushing for food which was always depleated. It was very difficult to find an empty clean plate. Breakfast was the same resulting in most of the food being cold. After being to Cayo Santa Maria the beach was fair. About a 5 ft wall of sand to hop over and the water got deep immediately with a sandbar about 15 ft out. Pool was well kept and liquor was free flowing but forget coffee. The one cappuccino maker on the main side was broken for most of our stay. WiFi in the lobby for 2 pesos per hour was sketchy reception and non existent the last two days. Only saving grace for us was the fun coloured 1950's cabs that ran you into town. Restaurants in town were very good. Forget the Plaza America. Not much there. Would not go back and not likely to Varadero. Much prefer the CayosHolguin and Camaguey. Unbelievably we paid higher for this trip at less quality than on any other trip to Cuba we have ever taken.
My wife and I have been to Cuba 7 times, twice to Varadero. We traveled here with our 5 children, ages 10 to 17. To begin, I love Cuba, the weather, people, beaches, all of it. This is our second time to Varadero with the kids. So the good: Varadero beach is fantastic, clear water, no rocks, shallow enough for the kids, great. Varadero, as with anywhere in Cuba, is extremely safe. We had no problem letting the kids roam around knowing that they were not going to get any trouble. This Resort probably had some of the most helpful and friendly staff of anywhere we have stayed in the Caribbean. Really the highlight of this Resort is the staff they have working there because they are fantastic especially considering some of the clientele they had to deal with there. The ala carte restaurants were fine, and I found the service in all the restaurants to be satisfactory. On the negative side as with some previous reviews it seems to be a common occurrence to have to change rooms to find something that is suitable as was our experience which we have never had to do before another Cuban Resort. I think this is mostly due to the age of the resort and probably lack of Renovations and money put back into it as I was told by several repeat guest that this was a five-star Resort 15 years ago. Definitely one of the major complaints I heard from most guests was due to the condition of the rooms and mattresses. The food was fine and average however there was large lineups in the buffet all the time for the grills. The pool was okay but as with the rest of the resort was showing its age and overall cleanliness was not spectacular. The one thing that really irritated me was the fact that you had to pay a $15 deposit in cash for each Beach towel you wanted to use during your stay. Most other places would only make you pay this if you didn't return it at the end of the trip so for our family of seven it was 105 Cuban dollars just to get beach towels. I found that's a little much. Overall I think this hotel had an excellent location an excellent Beach and the staff were phenomenal but due to the rundown facilities I would probably look to go somewhere else next time.
