Our Opinion
An OK resort situated within the Varadero strip. The rooms need a bit of maintenance and upgrading. However, they are cleaned and stocked daily. The food is nothing to rave about, but the resort offers plenty of choices. The resort is notable for having incredibly exceptional staff. If you have any concerns or needs, a resort team member will always be nearby to help accommodate your requests. Really great beach location. Be advised however, that bad weather conditions often lead to beach closures. Plenty of amenities available, such as a gym facility. This is an OK resort in Varadero. However, for the price you pay, it's best to go elsewhere.
Please note that hotel standards in Cuba tend to be lower than in other Sun Destinations. Unless travelers are familiar with the resort or Cuban hotels, we typically recommend that travelers book a minimum 4 star resort when traveling to Cuba.

Overview
A long time favorite of Canadians, Brisas del Caribe is set along a stunning stretch of white sand beach in fabulous Varadero. Included are a great kids' program, 24-hour lobby bar and 24-hour snack bar. The rooms in the south section of the hotel are great for families, with room for two adults and two kids. Brisas del Caribe is an excellent value beach-front hotel.

Location: Beachfront, 30 minutes from Juan Gualberto Gomez International Airport, 10 minutes to downtown Varadero.

The staff make this resort home

Our 5th stay at Brisas, December 25th, 2016 for 2 weeks. We keep going back to this resort because we love the staff, they are practically family now. The resort is a perfect size for us, not too big, not too small. The beach is so close too! The a la carte restaurants are amazing, we love the Italian and seafood ones. I can't say enough about the staff, Omar, Alfredo, Yaidelin, Giser, Margarita, Boris, Miguel, Giselle, Martha our maid, Robert, Carlos, Jackie, Luis, Jose the towel guy, Juan Miguel, so many I can't remember!! These people go out of their way to make sure you have the perfect vacation!! We will continue to always go back to this resort. The pools are clean and well kept, the grounds are awesome, coffee is the best I have ever had, the drinks are plenty! Lots of nightly entertainment every night, fun daily activities at the beach and pool.

Nothing to worry about !!!

I have traveled alot in Cuba. No need to worry, everything was easy, staff accommodating smaller resort .. close to beach, buffet, a la carte restaurants... No complaints...Beach beautiful of course food average just like any other hotel in Cuba....Catamaran trip fun and memorable. Staff polite and courteous, a gift here and there helped for sure... The exchange rate was expected.. 100 Canadian. 76 CUC... hurt abit but was more for tipping but be aware of rate.. Go to bank at Plaza America bring your passport your get better rate... Not much but 1 $ here and there goes long way for tips etc. Stayed in room 209 very close to everything... they have a seperate part of the resort however would not recommend when booking as you have to walk 5min to get to beach and buffet... STAY IN MAIN RESORT..... no other issues for the price... I dont visit same hotel 2wice but, this might a quick revisitsincerely, CANADA

Perfectly acceptable for the price we paid

My husband and I went for a quick four day, five night stay at this hotel and were very pleased with it overall. This was our first trip to Varadero and our fourth to Cuba so are familiar with what to expect. Our room was dated and the sheets were a tad threadbare however, it was kept very clean and well stocked by our housekeeper. A few extra pillows would be nice and the mattress was a bit uncomfortable. We had hot showers every and anytime with the best water pressure of anywhere we have stayed in Cuba! The beach is lovely and you are able to walk forever. The food was good and we never went hungry and there was plenty of variety at the buffet. A la carte restaurants were good but no better then the buffet only different. Recommendations/notes: Canadian loonies and twoonies are worthless they only want paper money. Exchange was quite high at the lobby for what we have paid in the past, $10 CUC was equivalent to $14 Canadian. Duty free: unless you are buying rum the prices at the airport are the same or more than they are at home with very few premium/name brand items even available. Bring after bite. I had at least 10 bites and some seemed more like black fly bites. Loungers need to be cleaned a little more often around the pool due to all the birds flying around although we did see them being cleaned on one occasion. VIP package upgrade wasn't worth the expense and wouldn't get it again.
