Our Opinion
A budget resort in Varadero, the Aguas Azules is only for the brave and budget minded. In Cuba we highly recommend spending a bit more and upgrade to a minimum 4 star resort. It is well worth the money as 3 star resorts in Cuba can be very basic with poor service.
This enormous resort features large landscaped gardens and spacious accommodation. Near the beach is a colourful mini-market with shops and activities; active vacationers will enjoy the watersports, tennis, and use of the gym. Hotel Aguas Azules is great family value for your money - kids up to 6 years stay and eat free all year long!

Location: Beachfront, 40 km from Varadero International, 10 min to Varadero.

good quality-price

this resort is good. It needs some updates like a lot of resorts in Varadero. Beach is very nice and clean, Customer service is very good. At first we have received a room that had a bed very incorfortable. After having slept the first night, we stop at the lobby and spoke with the customers' representative and a coupl hours later we got a brand new mattress. That is what I call good customer service. Food and drinks were ok.

Nice place

We have just returned from our trip, and I wanted to post my review while all impressions are still fresh. All in all it was a pleasant trip. After reading some of the reviews here, I was anxious about my decision to go to this hotel, but I was pleasantly surprised. I do not know why, but for some reason we got upgraded, free of charge, to the bungalow, and I loved it. It was quiet, peaceful, close to the beach. Bungalow was clean, nicely furnished, beds were in great shape, fresh bottle of water was left there every day for us, beach towels too, no deposit asked for. Premises around resort were well kept, and spacious. Nice, clean pools with area for kids. Wifi is available in the lobby area and upstairs in bar and lounge area too, 2 cuc per hour, but it can be hard to log on at the times. Food .... well you will not starve for sure, not bad either, I guess it depends when do you show up for your meal. Fruit sometimes can be a bit stale, one time corn they served was sour, but at least you have some choices. Plenty of fish and chicken. Amazing bread and sweets though. A la carte restaurants can be way better. We were at the Italian and Seafood restaurant. Seafood was good, but Italian was on the downside. First of all ambient was not good, pasta was sour with no trace of garlic in it ( shrimp garlic pasta) , tiramisu was sour, let just say that we left most of our meal on the table and rushed back to buffet to eat 😀. I read some other reviews that said that pizza was good, but we didn't order pizza. My only negative thing would be that even promised by our representative there, that we will get "hospitality" room to get changed and have a shower before our trip, we were denied that. Excuse was that hotel was full🙄, which i believe was a lie. Hotel is huge, and there was no way that it was full in this time of the year, and honestly, it did not seem that busy. So I would not recommend late night flights back home, because you will have to check out by 12, and then God help you! Also please, always count and double exchange rates, they tend to " make mistakes" a lot. We were overcharged for safe, and few times "by mistake" given at least 10 cuc less then it should be. That made me mad. This is our hard earned money, and I do not mind giving tips and gifts, but please do not steal from me😡. And u fortunately that happens a lot. They are determined to get money of either way. So in conclusion, Despite everything, I liked the place. Maybe even going back again.

Great for a first time trip to the carribean

The first night was a bust. Got there at 12am and our room had no air conditioning ! Was a hot night but the next day we had new rooms that were air conditioned and much closer .They fixed it quick which was nice. I found the food variety was great ! Lots to pick from. The night shows were entertaining and enjoyable. Didn't get to go to the disco but they played some good music .The beach was enjoyable and the extra 20$ to take their dingy out to snorkel is a must do ! we snorkeled on other expeditions twice but this one was by far the best ! way more fish and you'll be right in the middle of hundreds of them. I enjoyed my stay here and wouldn't hesitate to go back

Vacation , second one to Cuba and first to Varadero, Don't go Here

Garden view was looking at plants on the wall adjacent my room. i was placed where staff stay.(suppose to or Not). TV didn't work. Phone didn't work. Room was not cleaned for three out of seven days. Caught cleaning staff using dirty water from other rooms on one occasion. Hot water turned off for two days when complained. Bed is like a box spring, Hard and old. Some staff work hard, other don,t do anything, including three drinking while working. Wife fell on uneven path ways and need medical attention. Place run down. Nothing like pictures on web site for rooms. Not the only guests during our stay with problems. pools not cleaned regularly. place being sold to Starfish Nov 1st. Wife got bit by bugs in room, over injuries during fall (which were 2) Most staff won't even try to talk English. One staff had to be told to take the ear buds out of ears and come to the counter to hear my complaint and write it done, upon my return from an extersion at 230 am when room not cleaned no hot water no phone no tv and staff partying in next room.
