Amazing as always!

Honestly I do not know why people are complaining. Some of the complaints were laughable. This was my 3rd time and this resort. We arrived on Jan 6th. We were immediately greeted with a delicious drink and a hug since we know the staff now. Yes the lobby is open which makes it that more luxurious. There are spots in the lobby that have walls on either side and is warm. The weather was cold a few days but then warmed up a lot. They do not want people waiting at the bar because the bartenders want you to relax. There was a lot of cheese and even had a cheese night with a table full of different cheeses. The pasta was not cold since they make it right infront of you and there is ready made pasta on a warmer. There was much more food than people are naming. The Japanese a la carte is amazing. There are no man holes. The exaggeration levels are humorous in some of these reviews. The pool was in fact cold since the weather was quite cool some.of the days. The rooms are very clean and you actually get 2 of every towel. They had all you can eat lobster one night. There is a railing from the 2nd floor to the bottom floor. The staff is amazing I can't even tell you. I had a medical emergency at the airport and couldn't fly. We came back to the hotel to see the doctor. Our friend yosnay came up to my husband and my husband told.him everything. Yosnay works at the bar btw. He immediately told the front desk to move our luggage to the room and took us to the doctors in the 1st floor. He then continued to check on me. The staff are now my family. They are so.wonderful and warm. Oh also they were not getting fired, they were just taking the vacation because of the low number of guests. Thank you to all the staff especially : chabely, Alberto, tomys, yosnay, Claudia, dennis, Franklin, guataloupe, leeannes, daylis, oriel, Pedro, Pedro, balery, romeleo, Roberto ( manager) alan (manager) and everyone else who much husband will name in his post. Oh yea hot water worked as well.

Avoid at all cost!

This was a trip for my birthday and our 25th wedding anniversary. We had 3 wonderful days in Havana in the Park Central, a 5 star Iberostar hotel, so I was expecting the same standards. Sadly this is probably the worse hotel I have ever stayed in.I intend to complaint strongly to my travel agent as firstly there are major fire and safety hazards. Our fire exit marked to the left leads to a brick wall so no access to the next block. To the right and quite a walk to the nearest stairs with an open window. One day it rained heavily so it was slippery to use. We were on the 7th floor and there is open windows to the 4th floor. There was no lighting here.To gain access on foot from the 2nd floor which was reception to the restaurants on floor PB were very dangerous, no lighting or no handrail. The food was simply dreadful. I do not expect a plate of cold pasta, cold white rice, tinned onions, tinned sweetcorn, peas and carrots. Not my idea of good food. There was a slop of egg and green beans. In one corner there was pizza, one of the staff was taking plates with a few slices left, picking them up with his fingers and re arranging on the plate to be put back on display I watched him do it several times I was stunned. The food was so sweet, the cheese was nasty, the ham was thin. The mashed potatoes were from a packet, I remember Smash from the 70's. We were told when we complained that the hotel was less than half full. This is still no reason to serve up such dreadful cold, slimy food. The pasta tomato sauce was so thin it had no taste. The coffee and wine was undrinkable. We ate instead at the 24 hour restaurant, the staff were lovely and you can drink the coffee. There was a lovely buffet restaurant by the beach however this closed with no notification to guests. The staff told us they were losing their jobs as the hotel was so quiet.Access to the beach is dangerous, I walk with a stick following a serious leg break. I had to have my husband help me up and down from the beach. The access by beach path was dangerous too, large concrete slabs with gaps between. The hotel has 6 pools no one uses the pools as they are not heated. Such a waste of space. Lots of little kids cried when their parents tried to coax them into the pools. The reception and main lobby was open plan so it was a wind tunnel, it was chilly to sit. Staff at the beach bar were unfriendly and often staff at the lobby bar ignored us many times. I pointed out to my husband then want us to sit for a waiter so they get tips. On the whole the staff were kind and smiling. However the service was woeful, drinks forgotten often, requests for ketchup forgotten etc.We tried the Italian, awful food, the Cuban restaurant was not busy, yet we were served 3 course within 25 minutes. The food was tough! We went to the Japanese twice just to get food we could eat. It was good to meet other diners and the food was rather good. However we had upset stomachs the next day as did another diner.I don't know how this hotel stays open, we spoke to many others who were also complaining mainly about the food. I don't think there is much future for this hotel. I have stayed in many Iberostar hotels in Spain, Gran Canaria over the years and always been impressed. This hotel needs some serious training for staff and some decent food. I never saw any bananas, tomatoes, smoked salmon, decent hams or cheeses which it usual hotel fodder.Amenities in bathroom were pretty basic, one small and one medium rough towel, no robes or slippers

Our honeymoon was ruined, so, so bad hotel

The Iberostar Bella vista hotel was a big disappointment. After several trips to different hotels around the world this one is to not even a 3 star hotel. When we got there after many hours of travelling (we were up for 20 hours) we could not get in to our room. The first two sets of keys did not work. We have waited an hour for the engineer to came and unlock the room door for us. I don’t understand why we have not been given key to another room as the hotel was half empty? The shower in our room ran cold for 6 days. Every time when we called the reception the staff told us that they were aware of the problem and actively working on it. After one of the calls the receptionist was so rude to me.It is a 5-star hotel so I didn’t think that a hot water can be a problem but what was even more disappointing it was the food. After almost 2 weeks of queuing for food we have had enough, and we were eating the same food every day. Initially the hotel was quiet, so there should not be a problem with keeping the food fresh and worm. The food often was cold and awful. The food often was not refreshed or updated. In the morning the fried eggs were undercooked. In the evening we were given a undercooked prawns. The 3 a la carte restaurants were even worse than the buffet restaurant. The food wasn’t tasty at all.The beach restaurant was not open during our stay, not sure why?The hotel is littered with damage which shows no signs of being repaired. This is a new hotel and we could not believe how many tiles were chipped or broken. The lifts most of the time did not work and it was a problem for us as we lived on the 7th floor. Most of the lifts were dirty and smelly. I haven’t seen anyone cleaning them. On the 7th floor there is damage to doors, floors and worryingly the stair panels (this is a priority for health and safety). These have been temporarily repaired with chipboard, but it is loose. When it rained the floors and part of the stairs were wet and slippery. The access to the beach is a significant problem for several of the guests, we are young and able to jump but for elderly or small kids it is an issue. The manholes around the hotel buildings were half opened and waiting for a tragedy to happen. The rooms had a basic fitting but were comfortable. The main issue was the bedding, the mattress protector was plastic and the sheet are not fitted. The sheet kept coming off at night. The hair dryer wasn’t fixed properly to the wall and every time I had to hold it when I was drying my hair as otherwise it was hanging on the wires and I was worrying that I can get electrocuted. Will our rep in Cuba unfortunately have not been very helpful with any issues which we had during our stay. We booked 3 different trips with him and none of them have been explained to us.

Beautiful Hotel, Some Improvement Needed

Bella Vista is a nice looking hotel, well laid out with a huge central lobby and nearby cafe and restaurants below. The beach is great and the pool area is more than spacious. Nice selection of liquor and snacks. The staff was all great, always smiling and talkative. Claudia is great at the kids zone. Elio was good for activities. Darrell pleasant at the front desk. Cafe staff were fantastic. Overall, no hounding for tips like at some hotels.A couple improvements, small things that would make this a true 5 star.- The extra dining area needs to be opened, especially the egg station. The lineup can take 20 minutes as the hotel usually forces everyone into only one kitchen area.- Hot water was lacking a couple times in my shower, not acceptable for a 5 star- Food was ok but could always improve- There is no disco at this hotel, a more lively lobby (that is open later) would be a nice touch

Food is horrible!!

I went to Iberostar Bella Vista Jan 1-8/18. It was a very cold week however the entertainment crew tried desperately to appease everyone! The bar waitresses and waiters were so kind and sweet! For a hotel only open for 8 months my suggestion to the management is to seek help in the foods from other 5 star hotels in the area. I have been to Cuba 3 times and this hotel was the worst for food. Rooms were always beautifully cleaned and decorated. Thank you so much to our maids! The shows at night were awesome and fun for all ages! Thank you to the crew of dancers!
