Memories Varadero Beach Resort
- What's Included
- All Inclusive Features
A really great option for those wanting to stay in a resort that has one of the best beach locations on the strip. While the beach is a short walk away, it's worth it for the location and view of the beach. There are two pools located within the resort: one that is catered to a lively party crowd, while the other is quieter and better for relaxing. The food is OK. While it varies in freshness at times, there is always something for everyone, and the food choices change up often. The rooms are modern, maintained, and well-stocked regularly. There is also a nightclub nearby for those who want to experience a bit of the party scene in Varadero. This resort is just a taxi ride away from the historical parts of town, so it's highly recommended that you take advantage and check out the historical side of the city!

Never Again! This is my second time in Cuba and first time at Memories Varadero. My family and I( 4 adults 1 infant) from the beginning got bad service! As a diamond club customer the rep that help us was to busy with his buddies that all are check in info was wrong. Are room was wrong we got a regular room after paying for a diamond suite , we booked 3 la carte when it came to dinner none of them were booked . When i called customer service she tried convincing me that the room was a diamond suite to bad im not stupid. The servers in the lobby dont come to serve you unless your there friend and flash money . The staff at this resort dont care what so ever! They only help you if you TIP THEM so just a head up bring lots of monwy for tips or else you wont have no service . The customer service ladies are to busy on personal calls to even help you !.Morning of departure we were leaving at 7 am we called front desk to send a golf cart to help as we had a baby . We called over 5 times no one picked up are call we had to walk from 34 building all the way to the lobby with a baby and all are luggage. ALL THE PUBLIC WASHROOMS In this resort are horrible ! They dont lock , the doorz are missing pannels people can see you on the toliet there no soap or paper. We ran to are room everytime we need the washroom. Ive never wanted to come home so bad from a vacation. The only thing that was good was entertainment at night. Food here is the same everyday ! And they didnt have enough food for the amount of guest they had. The GOLF CARTS GUYS DRIVE TO FAST i dont know how many times they almost hit my daughter and I . My husband went to complain and it didnt make a difference. I Will never come back nor will I refer family and friends here. Cuba has changed I got harassed all week by locals for my daughter and my things it made me uncomfortable . Im disappointed we work so hard to be able to go on vacation and to end a vacation on a bad note is upsetting..-Just a few tips bring snacks for you and your family or things you can have out and it wont go bad like peanut butter , you will go hungry due to the lack of food and the wait times at the buffet .-Bring your own travel mug or cup because rhe cups are small and most bars would run out of it . - bring your own wipes or a couple roles of toliet paper if using public washroom they never seem to have any.- Tips ! The staff will only help you if you tip them other then that they dont care . They all look miserable and they try to look busy but meanwhile there not they cant be bothered coming to you.
My family and I experienced a great week at Memories. The beach is a 5 star for us. The staff was friendly and helpful most of the time.Food was goodRooms averageAmenities need work and cleaningEntertainment staff fantastic and involved the whole family
Had our family vacation from Jan 4-11th, 2018. Over all it was lot's of fun because we had a humorous attitude with it all. We've been to Cuba a dozen times before. Los Cayos continue to be my favorite. Lets start by saying we got an incredible last minute deal to join friends that were already vacationing there. We will only go back IF we find the deal again or cheaper. Would not pay a dime more. So much potential for this hotel and I can imagine that once upon a time it was great- I have hope it can be again. Rooms are not bad, kept clean. Beach is good, pools are good, areas are over all good, food was not bad; we are not picky. BUT- HYGIENE IS AN ISSUE IN PUBLIC AREAS. BATHROOMS ARE HORRIBLE! IF THEY ARE OPEN, THEY ARE TOTALLY DARK; NO LIGHTS. NO HYGIENE SUPPLIES. DIRTY. CLOGGED. Buffet does not have enough serving utensils, glasses, cups etc. Cross contamination could be an issue.Workers attitude could improve, I'm sure the cold weather impacted everyone's behavior, Definitely more staff would be appreciated by all- guests and workers I'm sure. Room service was good, ladies were nice, helpful and accommodating overall.
Just returned from a week away, Jan 4-11. The weather wasn't the best but that's not fault of the resort at all. The pools were cold because of the weather and we couldn't enter the ocean until the last day of our vacation because of the wind. We never saw any bugs so didn't need bug spray, this was probably becuase it was windy the majority of the time. The resort is big as everyone has mentioned. Not a problem for us as it will help work off some of the food and catch the odd golf cart and life is great. Our room was basic and clean and we had no issues with it. We were in building 27 and looked out the back of the building, nothing there except a few trees but we didn't spend much time in our room so didn't matter. the taps in the bathtub were rusty but again no big deal, everything worked and we never ran out of hot water so we were happy. The beach is alright, nothing special and definitely not a Cuban beach. This was our 4th time to Cuba and the first to Veradero and we will not be back because of the beach. It's not the white powder that we are used to. In our opinion Cayo Coca had the best beach out of the places we have vistsed(Santa Maria, Hoguin, Cayo Coco, Veradero). We were Diamond club and had no problems with service in the buffet and never saw any flies or maggots that other people have mentioned. If you wanted the fresh food cooked for you, you could wait for 20 min but it's fresh and hot and just the way you like it so worth the wait. Everything seems to be warm in the buffet, not hot, just warm so that was a bit of a disappoitnment, but nothing major. There were a few things that didn't make sense but we moved on and made the most of it. At 24 hour snack bar one afternoon and they ran our of fries and the buffet ran out of plates for about 5 min on night. Not sure how that happens but such is life.We took advantage of the special section on the beach and didn't have to fight for chairs or drinks on the last day we were able to use it. That was a ncie perk and definitely worth the upgrade to Diamond Club. We paid $150 for all 4 of us to be upgraded. We had to visit medical on the 3rd day while at the resort because our kids got a rash(not from the resort we are thinking) and the sink beside the bed had bugs crawling on it, not good at all for being the medical center but we just needed some cream and were on our way.As previously mentioned, ALL The public washrooms Mens & Womens require better upkeep - this is a necessity! Toilet paper, HAND SOAP, lighting. It was rare to see cleaning staff. We would go back to our room because they are so nasty. The nightly shows were great and always well done, definitely go and watch them.We went on the catameran trip where you snorkel and swim with the dolphins. It is not worth the money at all. The snorkelling place was 10 ft plus deep and a very good current the day we arrived. The water was not the blue clear that we have seen in the past and i had to dive down 5-6 ft just to see a fish. There were 7 other catamerans out the day we went so it is very busy. Swimming with the dolphins was VERY quick, you got to touch them 3-4 times and then they gave you a kiss. After that they have a professional take pictures and deliver them to your room later that night for $10 Peso's each. They take you to Cayo Blanco for lunch which was good and the beach is nice, much better then the resort but nothing special and VERY busy. It is not worth the price for this tour. Overall we made the most of the trip with the weather being crappy but wouldn't recommend Varadero in general compared to other parts of the island which are much nicer for the same money.
Nothing like it use to be when i first came to this resort in 2011. We went here for a family vacation for the 2nd time to this resort to be very disappointed. Only some of the people that work at the resort were friendly but everyone else is miserable. Starting at dinner service, we asked for 2 drinks, The lady comes back with 1 and we were like sorry but can we get 2. she roles her eyes then comes back with a drink unhappy. Go to the kids area to take them swimming to find the water absolutely disgusting and full of food and empty cups in it. Our room was nice until but toilet was always running which they said they would fix but didn't touch it at all and to find cockroaches in our bedroom was absolutely disgusting. All bathroom in lobby area have no locks and never had toilet paper in the stalls and or paper towel to dry your hands. My son and i were excited to go on a catamaran as it is posted that you get a free ride per day. we get there to book it and the guy tells me that we have to book it for the next day.So we book it for the next day, get there and are ready to go and the guy says we have to pay him 20 pesos each because that what they charge. i told him it was free and he said they only do free rides in the afternoon if there is time available after 3pm. The best part of this trip was getting back home after 7 days and enjoying a nice meal. We booked at the mexican grill and tapanaki grill. we showed up for our reservation to the mexican grill, all the tables were set up but not staff in the building, so that was a flop. I would not recommend this place to anyone that wants to go on a relaxing vacation. The amount of complaints we heard while in the lobby most of the vacation was incredible and if you think my complaining was bad, some other people had it worst. All the customer service lady would say to you is we will try to fix it and then she wouldn't even acknowledge you being there anymore.
