I am Serious when I say, stay away. Worst 8 days of my life, 5 and a half of them spend literally dying :(Let me start by saying 99% of the staff here are amazing - minus one female staff member in the Customer Service Office by the Lobby. It was like everything was an inconvenience to her. That’s the positives, now let’s start with all the negatives:The food is horrible. They recycle unfinished Buffett stations from the evenings and put them back out in the mornings. Everything is cold. The selection is horrible, even for Cuba.I have seen better food on a Fear factor challenge. Our first room had no phone, and the air condition was not functioning.Three days in a row, we lost Electricity to the room, for most of the day.The cable TV had a big box on the screen stating there was an issue with your subscription. There may have been 5 English channels – if that. Normally I wouldn’t comment about what’s on a TV while on an all-inclusive vacation, but when you are sick in bed and can’t move – TV would be nice.It took multiple days of requesting it, before we were finally moved to another room. Same TV issue there too Minor complaint – the drink cups are way too small – maybe 3 or 4 oz’s. It takes about 4 of them to get a regular can of beer. Most likely done this way a deterrent. All 4 of us in our group got sick. Two of us needed medical assistance. We tried to fly home early at our expense, but couldn’t get flights.West Jet Vacations should be ashamed for being associated with, and selling packages to this resort.Trust me when I say …. Book somewhere else. You’ll thank me for it.
I went to Ocean Vista Azul at the beginning of January 2018 and had an absolute blast! The resort was stunning, but the outstanding staff are what made my trip so memorable. In particular, Mirtha Arzuaga Zayas. Her amazing energy and caring nature are what allowed my friend and I to enjoy our trip to its full potential. She is a very valuable asset to the team at Ocean Vista Azul and I want to make sure that she is recognized. I understand that the travel time to and from work, and the shift length alone can be very gruelling at times but you would have never known due to her outgoing personality and engagement to entertain the guests at the resort. I don't usually go to the same resort twice, but because of my amazing experience at Ocean Vista Azul I can't wait to go again!!!
We were checked in aboard the coach airport transfer, to save time which was a definite plus. Starting on a high. The room assigned was very large and bright, but the air con wasn't working and the toilet seat was broken so we were moved to a different room in the same area, and provided with a bottle of fizz as an apology, which was very much appreciated. The rooms are a great size, the bathrooms are a great size, the shower was lovely and the balcony nice and large. The balcony doors didn’t lock (didn't lock in either room we were in) which I wasn’t overly keen on. The Infinity pool was amazing! Really beautiful just to look at, and look out at sea. A huge plus for the hotel. Both hotel pools were very nice, large and clean. The pool bar service was very good and civilised, which is rare when compared to other places I have visited with similar concepts. The hotel lobby needs a very big fan as it was very stuffy, sometimes uncomfortable. Hotel needs more staff! The hotel staff were a mixture of good and bad - some of them were brilliant, extra friendly and really pleasant to be around - others not so much. The food is poor! This was my biggest disappointment about the hotel. The buffet options were a complete let down and the majority of the limited food I did eat was very bland. Certain foods ran out early and didn’t get replenished. Tea spoons did not exists. The Maid that services our room was lovely. She left sweet daily messages and some brilliant towel creations - really put a lot of effort into it. Overall an OK hotel. If the food situation was improved I would consider staying here again.
The resort was beautiful, clean and good staff. We mostly enjoyed the entertainment staff, especially Mirtha.they ensured we had fun every single day while staying at the resort, regardless of the weather conditions. I would highly recommend this resort and I will be back.
