Starfish Cuatro Palmas

A good budget option for Varadero packages, however, travellers should keep in mind that anything under 4 stars in Cuba can be quite basic. The beach here is very nice but the food and room options are minimal and value based. If you are just looking for cheap getaway, then this hotel might suffice. If you want a quality vacation in Varadero, go for a minimum 4 stars. A couple of good, well priced recommendations are the Memories Varadero, Riu Varadero and Iberostar Tainos.
The red tile roof, white-walled courtyard and tropical gardens give this hotel a Spanish-Colonial ambiance which provides a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere for families and couples alike. The Starfish Cuatro Palmas is centrally located downtown, close to shopping, restaurants and bars. The Las Palmas section of the hotel is located across the street from the Cuatro Palmas section of this property.
Location: Downtown, approximately 30 minutes from the Varadero airport.
I have stayed many times at the Cuatro Palmas in the last 2 years, and I think it's the best place to stay if you are plannig to go to Varadero. It's located in the very centre of Varadero, next to bars, restaurants and markets. Special mentions are for the international buffet of the main restaurant, that is really excellent, and to the lobby -and beach bars staff: very professional, kind and friendly people that offre a great service at any time. The rooms are big and clean, the pool area is constantly checked and the beach is located in one of the widest and most beautiful part of Varadero coast, and it's equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas enough for all the guests. The director Carlos and all his reception equipe together with the Animation staff are always at full disposal for any needings you may have. Everytime I am in Cuba, this is my home away from home.
I almost don’t want to write a review because I’d like to keep this place a secret. Right downtown veradero. Front desk were efficient, complimentary drink upon arrival. Accessible to erything. Calle 62 daily entertainment across the street. Beetles bar down the road and Josone park which is lovely only a block away. People and service spot on. Apparently Canadian owners and Italian chef overseeing kitchen. Food was varied and good. Ate off the resort a few nights to get the real flavour of Veradero. Many return people a lot were single travellers. Stayed in colonial section. Do net get a room facing the street if you are a light sleeper. Bring earplugs, lots of roosters lol. The beach is beautiful and seems endless. Plenty of palapa son the beach and more than enough chairs there and at the pool. Activities at the beach and around the pool and early evening were entertaining. Every staff member so nice and helpful. You won’t regret having an ocean view that’s for sure. Took the bus (5cuc) to the DuPont mansion. Took a little tour inside and had a drink and soaked in the view. This will definitely be our go to place. Especially since it has also become an adults only. 😀
I call the SCP hotel my home away from home as I have returned from my Christmas vacation (my 4th stay) recently and again I have been delighted by the quality, service, and dedication of all people who made my stay an excellent one. This year, my 5-star appreciation goes to a charming lady Ms. Caridad at the main buffet restaurant. She's genuinely dedicated ensuring everything is perfect at all times and a great asset to the hotel staff. Kudos to Caridad! It was my 2nd Christmas and New Year vacation, and again, I had a positive experience. The New Year's Eve gala dinner was impressive and the service top notch.Recently, as of November 1st, 2017, the hotel is now Adult Only 16 + and I must say, it makes the ambiance a more relaxing one. More improvements are ongoing, and my prediction is it will soon be THE boutique hotel to go to in the center of Varadero. The location is unbeatable. I take this opportunity to suggest one thing for adding value to a traveler's experience. Being located directly on the beach, I would see ''Yoga Class for Beginners'' on the activity menu as part of the all-inclusive experience. I don't know if amongst the animation team they have someone who would be qualified to teach it, but it would attract guests to participate in a wellness activity. A yoga mat is a very light item easily packable for a person interested. So, the only requirement for the hotel would be to provide the teacher. In conclusion, the people at this hotel are the best and I have only good things to say. For more information about the hotel accommodations, please read my previous reviews. I look forward to my April vacation.
We stayed at Startfish Cuatro Palmas because of the location, I been to Cuba 12 times. Cuatro Palmas is within minutes away to live entertainment, night clubs, restaurants, bank , souvenirs stores , public transit. The staff is very friendly and helpful making your stay more pleasant. The restaurant buffet has many options to choose from, egg omelette, spaghetti, vegetables soup, Cuba pastry and much more. There is plenty of seating areas to relax and chairs at pool are all brand new. There is entertainment every day from Cuba dancing to Cuba music and is excellent and very professional. The room was wonderful spaceship and clean and the cleaning lady was very friendly and pleasant and helpful. We will be back to this resort cause we were more than happy with our stay at Startfish Cuatro palmas. Andy, Arturo and the rest of staff do a wonderful job
OK hotel with excellent service. We had superior room.Rooms was pretty clean, and good overall. I guess the room standard is really good according to Cuban standard. The pool is a noisy affair with a lot of activities obviously requiring loudspeakers turning all the way up. Thankfully the beach is really nice and calm without any music or annoyances of any kind. Really great!Food is good and the beverages are OK. The restaurant by the beach was a welcoming surprise. Good food, no loud music and really great service.Overall, the service is really good. We got the impression that the staff liked their jobs and that they strive for good service.Ironically, the only annoying thing about the service was the customer survey. We got the questionnaire one or two hours after entering the hotel, so we had no idea what to answer to most questions. We told this to the staff, but they insisted we fill it out. Afterwards, we found out that if you give bad grades on the questionnaire, they will summon you to the reception to go through improvements. Would have been great if they had registered the answers we actually gave. Seems like they were unable to correct the answers, so we were asked to explain why we meant something we didn’t actually mean. The intention of the customer survey is obviously good, and a sign of the staff trying to give good service, but went wrong.Veradero is noisy as a whole, so expect noise at this hotel. Our room had a lot of noise from neighboring shops. Bring a good pair of earplugs or ensure to get proper drunk before going to bed. Please don’t take a horse ride. This tourist attraction should not be encouraged. Take an old American taxi instead.
