Beautiful setting at the beach with a bar at the pool. People are always happy and helpful, even with the closing and renovation works coming up. Too bad the authentically styled resort will be lost, but hopefully it will make room for one as good as this one.
While we have visited this often, we were unable to book this for months.... now we know why. It was sold on Sept 5th of 2016 and will be under massive renovations for 18 months. Trip Advisor does not seem to know as they keep sending emails suggesting We book. Just wish we could!
The staff was great, front desk was beyond helpful for setting up reservations and making great suggestions. The rooms met our expectations, and the staff even prepped our room with balloons and rose petals as it was our honeymoon! The only downside was that we requested 2nd floor and got first floor (although we actually ended up preferring the first floor!
We came here on a JetBlue getaway package and because the resort had a sand dollar promotion, we were able to upgrade our room to an oceanfront. The room was nice with beautiful views. The promotion also provided a $50 a day food a drink credit which kept the final cost down. The beach was beautiful with tiki umbrellas and lounge chairs. There are 4 restaurants on site as well as a deli/general store. The food was average which is why I give this resort 4 stars. Take advantage of the great restaurants in town and on the island. Didn't use the casino but it appeared nice. The pool is large and offers a swim up bar. Happy hour prices at both the pool and beach bars. There is a dive shop and boat at the resort or you can rent snorkel gear and snorkel right off the beach. Shuttles are provided into town, however we rented a car to explore the different beaches. May was a nice time of year to travel as the resort was not too crowded. Overall a very nice experience!
Great hotel with many amenities that would allow you to stay onsite the entire stay. Although, I would highly recommend traveling the island. Upon arrival one of the bellhops quickly offered us a beer on the house, and took care of getting our room keys and someone to assist us to our room. It was fairly. Yay, but very short time to get to the room. The lobby and pool areas are beautiful. The hotel is a bit dated as other travelers have pointed out, but honestly the rooms were cleaned everyday, towels refreshed, and the room staff were very friendly and accommodating. Everything worked fine in the room. We did not spend a significant amount of time in our hotel. Room staff cleaned all our sand tracked in from the beach daily. The beachfront room was spectacular. We're had a view over the beach. The beach bar was conveniently located. You can walk the beach to the Hilton resort. I was glad to be at the Marriott. I did not use the pool much, so I can't comment on that. Seemed like a lot of kids playing in the pool. I would say I was not impressed with some of the locals behavior as they walled to the Marriott beach from the local public beach. This only occurred once, but it was not a pleasant experience. They were loud and rowdy. The restaurant upstairs had good food and was reasonably priced. The buffet dinner at the main restaurant was a bit pricey at $40 per person but it included entertainment. Overall, we had a great experience at the hotel and would recommend it to others.
