Wow - where do I begin? As a frequent traveler, I always go out of my way to do research on the best hotels, restaurants and cultural haunts to ensure my vacation checks the boxes on comfort, relaxation and memorable experiences. This time I listened to the JetBlue rep who convinced me that the Hilton was "wonderful." I couldn't disagree more. The facilities are outdated and if that wasn't enough, customer service is non-existent. In fact, it's as if the staff has been trained in a focused lack of attention. They avoid lifting their heads to make eye contact and are more concerned with completing tasks (eg wrapping silverware, removing Christmas decorations, stacking placemats) than serving guests. And when you do successfully manage to wave someone down (and I do mean wave), the service is slow. Only one drink is made at a time and simple dishes like nachos take over 20 minutes. (WARNING: don't get the nachos. They fry their own and they come out greasy with very little cheese or salsa). The Hilton Curaçao lacks an overall good energy and pleasantness that you would hope to find on vacation. The staff doesn't seem to possess much joy and that permeates the entire resort leaving a bit of a somber or lackluster vibe. I'm starting with the cons, obviously. To some, these may be minor. To those used to a certain standard, the following are bare minimum for any hotel accommodations. CONS:- Awful customer service- No where to rinse sand off your feet. Guess it will have to be my shower- No drying line in the bathroom to hang wet bathing suits- No beachside food or drink service- Rocky beach - No musicPROS:- Diving - Live music once per week- Casino on premises (mostly slots, 3 table games)- Decent on-site restaurant - Close to downtown. The hotel offers a free shuttle twice per day In short, stay at one of the many other beautiful resorts in curaçao. For the same price the Hilton charges, you could stay somewhere that justifies the price.
Enjoyed my stay, it was very comfortable and clean. There was not very much English speaking employees but I enjoyed my stay. I particularly like the cove where the water is crystal clear. The food was good, however, there was a limited selection and almost the same things to choose from every day. Overall I will stay at this location again.
The most important aspect of a hotel is its attention to their costumers, and its efficiency towards them. This hotel lacks both of them and a bit more. Now, I'm not saying all of the personnel was completely useless, there is always some light in the darkness that treated us like kings and went beyond duty. But the overall reality was, that they were criminally slow to cook, and serve, and very inconsistent with the orders (room service and/or food from the bar), and since I know for a fact that in the island of Curaçao they speak 4 languages including Spanish, is hard for me to understand the lack of motivation from their Dutch personal to learn Spanish, or even English for that matter. There are some visual/physical details like the lack of wifi or their intentions to even fix it, and the fact that room card keys were always malfunctioning because of the hotel is stuck in time by 15 years. They need to remodel and modernize from the ground up. They need to better train the staff (yes, even the Dutch).Restart, rebuild, redo.
We just returned from a few days at the Hilton in Curacao. I am a very loyal Hhonors member so was excited to see I could use my points (and a minimal amount...) in Curacao. I've highlighted the pros and cons of the property below.Pros:Check in was very easy and the people at the front desk were very nice. They answered questions and provided suggestions on what to do and where to go (it was New Year's Eve). The beach, although quite small, is very beautiful. It has a secluded feel and the water is by far, the most clear and serene I've ever been in.The grounds of the hotel are also very nice. It seems like it's almost situated on a cape - you can walk the path around the hotel and the ocean wraps around it. There are iguanas everywhere, which we thought was pretty cool. The hotel is also compact, which we liked - we never had to walk far to get what we needed.ConsThis hotel is expensive. There's no other way to say it. The first thing we did was order a beer, it was only 7 oz. and came to $8.50. I suppose we are used to staying all-inclusive. The food is also VERY expensive. The food. What can I say about the food? Mehhh... There are three places to order food - two outside and one inside. However, the inside restaurant was never open when we were there. You can order your basic food - pizza, burgers, tacos. We ordered two tiny fish tacos with no sides - $15. I wouldn't complain as much about the prices if the food tasted a bit better.Although the beach was really pretty - they didn't have a beach butler or waiter. Everytime we wanted another 7oz beer, we had to walk back up to the bar (those tiny beers go fast!)The pool was just ok - it was full of leaves and debris so we didn't stay in it long.Overall, I think I would stay there again if I had to... we were just so shellshocked by the prices of everything. The rooms were comfortable and there was a casino onsite which was fun. Definitely do some research before you decide on this hotel in Curacao.
Stayed at Hilton Dec 3 thru Dec 10 had a good time. The food was good, dinner was best. Waiters and staff are very professional, I liked Norman the best. They had entertainment two nights that was very good. It was my wife's birthday and they gave us a very nice dessert with a sparkling candle..
