What a great hotel! The staff was amazing and super helpful. Swen the manager was everywhere and Karen in the executive suite was so nice. We miss her! Rooms were a little outdated and clean but who really stays in their room other than to sleep? Snorkeling was great and right off the beach at the hotel. The town was close by (we rented a car). Watch out for all the roundabouts! My boyfriend loved them! ha! And please do no, I repeat do not Pokemon and drive!! Highly recommend this hotel and Curaco.
Best/ most friendly staff in Caribbean and beautiful location but hotel badly in need of makeover. Can't expect to be considered a luxury resort if you can't provide guests with hot water to shower for a week. It's a Hilton and not some rustic resort where there is charm in a cold shower. Without fine staff and great food this vacation would have been complete bust. The staff made it so it is with mixed emotion that I have to give hotel poor review overall.
We absolutely loved our stay. The hotel is secluded from the town, but if you are looking to relax its perfect. The beaches were beautiful. The small beach out front is calm and literally has the best snorkeling on the island. We went to a couple other beaches and did not see nearly as much aquatic life. But, the second beach (Moomba beach) which is a five minute walk to the left of the property was our favorite. It is generally quiet, only a few other families. It is bigger. There are few if any children, which for us was a major plus. And the moomba beach bar there is THE best. The bartnenders are so helpful and nice and make strong and delicious drinks. Also it's a little cheaper than the bars by the main beach. Some mentioned that rooms are outdated. Sure, they are. But it doesn't matter. Everything you need is there. There is a view of the ocean, nice balcony. The staff cleans it nicely every day. The only con is that the complimentary wifi is atrocious! It barely worked and kept going out. You could pay 16 a day to have better wifi but that's just crazy. Another pro is the executive lounge on the fifth floor. If you have access to it, use it! With access you get a free breakfast. It has deli meat, eggs, sausage or bacon and potatoes, bread, veggies, fruit, cereal. You could pay 6.50 a day a person to eat breakfast in the restaurant downstairs but I don't see why anyone does--you only get omelette and smoothies extra. Also the executive lounge has a good happy hour 5-7. The drinks are all around 3 dollars and the little appetizers are so good. FINALLY the staff at the lounge is incredible. They are so sweet and helpful. I have never met nicer people. I honestly think that a huge part of the reason we enjoyed our stay so much was because of them. Thank you! The only con is that the food in the restaurants on site is not super great. It tastes fine but the selection is small, it's pricey and pretty much all fried and unhealthy. As someone who lives really healthy back home it was hard to find a good option. But, I kind of noticed this across the whole island so I won't blame the hotel. Be cautious of two things: 1. DO NOT REQUEST LAUNDRY SERVICE. We submitted a small bag with underwear and t shirts and it ended up being 118 dollars. Unreal. 2. Yes there is a shuttle to town but it's extremely inconvenient and there might as well not be one. It only goes twice a day 9 and 1:30. And comes back at 5:15. It only fits 10 people and fills up.
Stayed at this hotel for 14 days on a business trip. Good holiday resort hotel with good amenities, beach, pool and gymnasium. A short taxi ride into Otrobanda for site seeing and shops etc. My only complaint would be that we had no hot water for showers etc for the whole stay although we were promised daily that the problem would be sorted. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.
The people working at the hotel are phenomenal!! They are friendly and polite. They do everything they can in order to make your vacation unforgettable. Some details in the rooms should be changed, for example balcony doors and lampshades (ours had lots of spots on it).
