we lived in a bungalow up in the trees with the birds and the iguanas. the resort was quiet, felt like our private paradise. the snorkeling was the best we've ever experienced. 13 years of travel, two trips a year and this place is the best. sorry to make it sound so good, but it is!
Not the first time I stayed here and hopefully not the last time either. Luxurious accommodation, spot-on service-level, (small) beach and 2 different dining options. The only point of criticism could be the dining options are a little bit too much catered for the US taste. Almost every entree is accompanied by a generous portion of mashed potatoes.
I like the less crowded places to stay. No hotels for me. This place was perfect. A quaint place for me and my daughter with all of the amenities right along the beach. Perfect! Perfect! Perfect! No complaints. Loved the cabinet in the kitchen that converts to a kitchenette. Unique. Cool. I'd definitely go back. Highly recommend. Enjoyed very much. Loved being on the patio too with the flowers and birds surrounding us peacefully. Just magical. Nothing like it.
We were staying at the Kura Hulanda village resort and included in their hotel agreement is, that you can go to their other resort which had a beach. We signed up and went there. The water at the beach is nice but there is a lot of rocks instead if soft sand. You have to pay 5$ to use the beach beds (regardless of if you are guest at the hotel or visiting from the other hotel)A some point we decided to get lunch. We got the menus and at the bottom it said: 12% for giving good service and 9% taxes not included. We sat down (having no other alternative for getting food) and ordered burger and panini and a large water (1.5l). We waited 45 min. even though there was no other customers. The food was good enough, the water was only 1. Liter but that's okay and the waiter nice enough but if you take 12% for service then try giving some!!When we went to pay at the counter (as no one showed up at our table)On the bill we could see we paid for 1.5 liter of water and not to be picky, but 12%+9% plus missing 0.5 liter of water is starting to be a bit too much. I addressed the headwaiter and she said that the menu was wrong and that her manager hadn't had time to change them. I kindly told her I didn't care and that she either gave me more water or deducted the missing water from my tab. She said she couldn't do anything but as I refused to leave she went a got me my water. I know I shouldn't discuss over 0.5 l. Of water but slow service and the other things mention made me stand my ground.
This was our third stop on this trip and by far our favorite place. The hotel is set on a cliff overlooking the ocean with views that just don't stop. The beach is nice - one that you should visit even if you're not staying here - and has one of the best dives on the island just off the dock. The rooms are spacious with large decks and comfortable beds. It's worth upgrading to the ocean view room. The service in the restaurant and bar were bad, but the food was better than I expected.Westpunt is not at all like Willamstadt and that was exactly what we needed. It's quiet and there's no traffic. There are surprisingly good restaurants in the area, and even a modest outfit will afford you a sweeping view of the bay where you can watch turtles coming up for air in the water. We ended up exploring many of the beaches down the coast and really got to know the island. A car is essential if you're staying in Westpunt.
