Kura Hulanda Lodge & Beach Club
- What's Included
- All Inclusive Features
Besides the fact that our room was okay, the hotel has many issues... there is clear lack of management (employees working on wrong priorities...dirty tables, not enough beach towels, no forks or knifes, no gas for the cola) and the toilets at reception and restaurant are BROKEN !! The hotel is far away from everything and you need a 60 to 70 taxi ride to get to center of city unless you want to wait for a bus every 2 hours. Often there was not enough food and we had to wait until more was served. No scheduled activities and many tiles of stairs are broken. Reception employees are very friendly and helpful with everything. Other employees need guidance and management..The hotel has many opportunities as a tourist location but to deserve a good rating it definitely needs better management, fixed facilities and better services.
This is definitely a place to go to for solitude and relaxation. There is no gift shop, no night life and no scheduled day time activities. There is however a fabulous beach and ocean with the best snorkeling at your doorstep. You do have to go down a set of stairs to get to the beach. There is a snack bar where the drinks are included but not the food . Get adventurous and go to the end of the property and walk down into the Grotto for a dip or just a look.If you enjoy nature and the simple things you will be happy here. There is not an abundance of choice at the buffet but the food is tasty (Like going to a family dinner). If you want a taste of luxury splurge on the a la carte dinner on the beach. If you need a break from the solitude rent a car and explore the other beaches or head to Willemstad.Just 2 of the beaches are Cas Aboa which is a beautiful beach with lots of amenities but you have to pay to get in and rent loungers, and Grote Knip which is almost as nice but free and also has some facilities. Definitely go to Playa Piskado which is right next door to Kura Hulanda and Playa Kalki. It is just a beach where the fishermen clean their catch, but there you can swim with the turtles for free. Its a great way to spend an afternoon or morning. Shete Boka National Park is not too far away and has awesome vistas. If you just want to shop take the daily shuttle to Willemstad and spend the day there. There is lots to see but don’t go on Sunday because other than a souvenir shop and a couple bars everything is closed. Do some research before you go, as our Aircanada rep was the worst we have ever had. Uninformed, unhelpful and uninterested. Lastly, some pointers… take a refillable water bottle. It is hot and you will need it. The tap water is safe to drink but if you choose not to, there is water in the restaurant and bar all day long. Bring water shoes as it is a coral beach. Bring your own snorkel mask so you can go whenever you want to (you will want to go lots). The dive shop will only rent you one for an hour a day. Some of the staff had a hard time cracking a smile so if you need a friendly face go find Kimberly.
We have been stayed at this hotel for one week and it was terrible. The whole hotel looks very damaged and broken. We have had a garden view room and it was horrible. The fridge was dirty and damaged and the cooker was dirty as well. The first pool was dirty too and the second pool was out of order. The Beach Shower was broken and all the lamps on the ways of the hotel were broken. The buildings looks very damaged. We have got an upgrade to an ocean view room and it was much better at the inside than the garden view room. But our washbasin and one of the air condition was broken. The Beach of this hotel is the best Beach of Curacao at this side. Sorry but we can´t recommended this hotel.
My wife and I were here from Oct. 5-12 and had a great week. The location cant be beat, overlooking a nice small beach with great snorkeling and diving from shore. Also it is very close to some of the nicest natural features on Curacao. There is some good walking to be done from here if you don't mind the heat. It is very quiet at this end of the island which we loved, but if you want to see any other areas of the island you must rent a car. We swam and snorkelled from six different beaches over the week all in the west end. Regarding the hotel, They were able to upgrade us to an ocean front suite because the hotel was not busy when we were there. It was an older room but well laid out and a nice view. The staff seem mostly friendly. The food choices are very limited if you are used to other Caribbean or Mexican all-inclusives but the food is safe and no one that we saw got sick from it. As well the outdoor housekeeping could be better as they did not keep up with the iguana dung around the pool. Price was good so I don't think you can complain too much or expect five star services or amenities.
During 3 days we have enjoy the nature waling senic road, tranquility, peace, birds singing, swimming Breakfast, lunch dinner music friendly waiters. Our villa was nice. Sitting on the balcony enjoying the sea. Beautiful Sunset view. While relaxing after lunch a bird just came and stood on my cup. This was our Second time this year first in May now in October. Must be repeated.
