Renaissance Curacao Resort & Casino
- What's Included
One thing I can truly say about this location is that the staff is great, friendly and accommodating...but slow.... like snail slow...... The Hotel is average and has its issues from uncomfortable beds, pillows that you'd need 6 to stack just be able to prop up your head to poor food & a serious lack of maintenance personal. We were there for a week and had the use of the fresh water pool one day before the pump failed and they closed the pool for the rest of the week. Really, a pump? You'd think in a facility of that size they would have a backup of some sort. This was very disappointing not just to us but to families who's children were moping around.Keep I'm mind, not all kids like salt water! Took us a couple days to find what we'd consider 4 star food. Don't waste your money inside the Hotel to eat, had a better meal at Mcdonalds and it sucked so you can imagine what it was like in the "lobby restaurant" The Restaurants in the RIF (Old fort area) were very good, Steak & Rib the best next was the Cheesery (fondu) which took 2 hours to get. For breakfast you have to go to Douwie Egberts, great food, great service and quick!! Casino in the hotel was a good place to unwind before bed. On Shopping, visit the folks at Little Switzerland, chat a bit, you like them all and pick up a good deal ;-) just keep talking. Re Punda (town over the pontoon bridge) not worth the walk...unless your looking for souvenirs.
The hotel is very nice, from what I saw the nicest on the Island. The Willemstad location provides for lots of options off property. We had the standard room and it was as expected. Mini refrig, safe, coffee service, robes etc. If you are going for the beaches and activities I would rent a car like we did. Shelia at the activities desk was awesome with information without any pressure whatsoever to book through her. What blew my entire family away was the customer service. Beginning with Rowland at the front door who absolutely could not have made us feel more welcome each time we passed by to Jennifer who checked us in. Jennifer went above an beyond to make sure each day of our stay was outstanding. Bianca at the poolside bar found out we are 6 vegans and told the chef(s) and the prepared incredible meals for us (we were on all inclusive which was endless and included Starbucks) . Piet made you feel like you were at his home in the dining room - remembering everyone's drinks, likes, adventures, etc and could not have been more kind. Others that deserve a shout out are Durieska, Alex Shakira, Queenie, Dunesca, Richasinu (sp?) Alexis...I'm sure I'm leaving out people. I am not being gratuitous. The next review I am going to write on the car rental will prove that :). I've been blessed to travel the world and can say this was the most professional, kind staff I've ever encountered.
We stayed at the Renaissance for 7 nights during Thanksgiving week. It is a beautiful hotel with comfortable, clean rooms. We loved the location of the hotel as it was walking distance to some great bars and restaurants. The man made beach/pool is beautiful and we were always able to find chairs and an umbrella so that we could enjoy a mixed drink from the bar and watch the sunset in the afternoon. There is a cruise ship dock that is near the hotel and we found it fun to see what ship was visiting that day and then watch the boats come and go out of St Anna Bay. The hotel service was amazing. We had some trouble with our hotel reservation and the travel agency we used to make the accommodations. We did not find out about the issue until we arrived. The staff at the Renaissance were so accommodating in helping resolve the issue unlike the travel agency. They were also very familiar with all of the activities we scheduled outside of the hotel and were able to answer the questions we had when our transportation was slightly delayed. This is a really large hotel and they hold many events. Security can get tight and a little annoying when there is a large event. Overall we very much enjoyed our stay.
Very nice hotel. The staff was great. I booked a room and it was not available. So she upgraded my room with a nice view of the front Entrance. Breakfast was not included. But if you are as a couple you must try it as the breakfast is for two. Stayed for a weekend. I tried the pool and the salt water beach that is higher than the sea level. The gym was good. And the bed was heavenly. Check out more pictures i will upload them later. A must stay hotel. Bring some luck and head to the casino. Enjoy and relax. Nothing to do. Go the the nearby Cinema. So don't hesitate come down and check in to Renaissance Hotel.
I had a great meal and great service . Shakira Martis was a great help !!! I ate the wings from the bar and they where cooked fresh . The drinks are really good at the bar . Also ate the breakfast buffet and it was good as well !
