Renaissance Curacao Resort & Casino
- What's Included
Originally our honeymoon was booked at the Emerald Marriott in Curacao, but the morning after my wedding I received an email that due to renovations the hotel will be closing. They relocated us to the Renaissance. We went 9/24 for 11 days & we had an amazing time. Unfortunately it was not on a natural beach like we originally planned for but it had other great perks!! The man made beach was very nice w/ drink service, the infinity pool was beautiful. The only down side was you could not swim in the ocean. The hotel had a great casino. We had the amazing imperial suite overlooking the water. One night because of the hurricane everything was closed and we had to eat at the hotel restaurant which was not that great. Luckily the location of the hotel is in the heart of the city & right near the Riff Fort. We got to walk to so many delicious restaurants. The bellman Alexis was unbelievably nice & helpful- over our 11 day stay we became very friendly with him. The beaches, culture & people are really wonderful & we cannot wait to go back!!!
Just returned from this resort 10-16-16. Everyone here is out of the way friendly especially Pete (with all his vest bling) and hotel Manager On Duty Herbert Castillo. My group from work had a medical emergency on one night and Herbert went out of his way to drive myself and my coworker to a local pharmacy to pick up a prescription for another coworker WELL after hours. He continued to check on our buddy daily to see how he was feeling. Very upstanding man there. The resort was very clean and rooms comfortable. Beach/pool was really cool as well. I'd never seen something like that anywhere. The casino was smokeless and almost all 20 of our somewhat novice group of gamblers walked away winners. Take that for what it's worth.
I definitely enjoyed my stay. The rooms are large and we'll maintained. The access to restaurants, museums, ortrabunda and punda was perfect. I walked everywhere. My only recommendation is do not get an interior room. The photos are deceiving and you will be in a cave. The rooms face a meeting room and everybody can see in. They need to demolish these. I upgraded and my room was on the second floor. You can walk to get coffee at Starbucks or straight out to their infinity salt water pool. I went to the local market to buy beer at 75 cents each... hotel charges 7.00 same beer. The hotel is next to excellent restaurants in Riff Fort, Ortrabunda, or Punda. There is free parking if you rent a car... budget is on site.... so book budget. And, you have free wifi. The rooms come with a nice balcony and small fridge. There are robes and slippers for comfort. Staff are exceptional and friendly. I would stay here again and recommended it to my parents.
I enjoyed my stay at the Renaissance. There was no beach at this hotel. The pool was very nice. It had a beach front with tons of tables and chairs so that you could lounge all day. I found the "beach front" at the pool to be better than any beach on the island and we drove all over the island going from beach to beach trying to find a nice non rocky one. The pool has towel service. The bar at the pool had lots of drink options and good bar food. The most amazing part was the massage. I don't remember the masseuse name but she does a real good job. She is of Jamaican decent. I had my massage right at the pool "beach front". It was so peaceful. It was so good I went back the next day. I don't remember much about the room. I believe it was fine. As you can tell we spent most of our time at the pool. Also the resort is in a great location with tons of upscale shops and restaurants. It is near the cruise port.
I had an amazing time here. I upgraded my room for a balcony room and I am so glad that I did . Waking up and seeing the cruise ships right outside, was a pleasant reminder that I was in fact on vacation :-) The location is PERFECT, especially if you do not rent a car, which I did not. The only upgrade that I would suggest, would be a hotel shuttle from the airport there were quite a few people on my flight who were also staying at this hotel, a shuttle would be a great way to get all of your guests to and from the hotel, without having to depend of taxis.
