Renaissance Curacao Resort & Casino
- What's Included
We just spent a week at this hotel. First off it is a hotel , not a resort. That isn't a complaint since I had figured that out before we left. I only say this as it may have contributed to some of the negative reviews in the last few months. We had room 303 which had a perfect view of the beach, pool and water. Yes, the beach is man made as it actually sits on the roof of a row of stores but it made no difference to us. Once you are on it it feels natural and it was never crowded. The employees were extremely friendly and conversant in several languages. As has been said before the true selling point of the hotel is location. Very convenient to shopping and restaurants as well as the Queen Emma foot bridge over to the Punda side. The only reason not to stay here is if you are looking for that all inclusive resort feel and have less interest in leaving the property. Otherwise if you are looking to explore Willemstad this is the perfect option.
This hotel was very nice, it is in the heart of Curaçao. I must say I will never visit curaçao again I found the island very dirty a lot of pigeons and yes I'm a New Yorker and terrified of them, so they made me feel uneasy. But anyway back to the hotel this hotel was so nice . Starbucks on the second floor ... the pool/ man made beach was such a beautiful touch to hotel it was so cute. The room was also nice as well, we didn't have a view ( our view was the banquet hall ). Everything is walking distance. If I every go back ( which I won't ) I will definitely stay at this hotel.
I spent 6 days in Curacao and chose the Renaissance for my stay. The hotel location is in town and with easy access to Punda area, along with taxi/bus services. Overall, it was lovely. My room was comfortable and the pools were amazing! Tess at the front desk was superb and gave me great recommendations. FYI- $30 taxi to/from the airport. The shopping area and Rif Fort have options for all visitors. The Starbucks in the hotel was nice (and there's one on the corner in the mall area). Service was pleasant but def on the slower side (only one person working during my daily visits). I was able to use USD and/or charge to my room so that was nice. Wifi worked fine and room cleanliness was outstanding. Note: this is a tropical island and can be a bit misty. Some walls and doors could use a fresh coat of paint but it wasn't sore on the eyes.My two less than favorable experiences would be related to the pool bar and car rental services. The service at the pool bar was subpar. I had to walk over to the register and ask for my bill because no one came by once my food had been delivered. 4 servers were just standing there. I was then asked on my way out if I'd paid my bill. I was appauld to be asked this and replied "Yes. Since no one cared to check on me, I walked over to the register for my bill". She didn't seem phased by my response so I didn't order from there again. Some servers are def better than others.I also rented a vehicle from Budget (onsite). Everything was going well until my return. The gentleman inspected the car for .10 seconds, opens the trunk and throughly inspects the replacement tire. He then finds damage on the replacement tire under the seam and asked if I'd had an accident. A what!?! He's not a people person and I assumed he was looking to gauge me. It seemed like he knew the damage was there from before. He then gets on the phone and scolds his co-worker who rented me the car after I told him I was not responsible for damages to a replacement tire I never used. I had to sign a statement saying I did not cause the damage (and luckily took out the insurance). The hotel itself was great because of the location! I walked to Punda regularly, took the bus to the Sea Aquarium ($2.00 each way), walked to Mambo Beach (I like walking), rented a car and drove to Serena's factory for an art workshop and then Kenepa beach for the rest of the day. I recommend you download google maps (not the same as the iPhone maps). Google maps worked offline for me and got me everywhere I needed to go! Note: Sunday's are slow so venture out!
Both my wife and myself visited Curacao and stayed at this beautiful resort"Renaissance Curacao Resort & casino" for one week in April 2017 and enjoyed very much. All the staffs are very friendly and know our names and smile all the time. The food is delicious and many choices and you save a lot if you purchase "All Inclusive Package". we met many people who made us feel at home and ready to help us out which was very nice. This resort is in the town and walking distance to all the restaurants and shopping. we have to mention few names who went all the way to accommodate our food choices and other requests. "CHANTEAU" (guest experience manager) and 'DWAYNE"(manager for "INFINITY" & " XQUISIT" restaurant and supervisor "Windell"(Infinity) and "Gilberto"(xquisit) and 'VENETHY" (manager at "Nautilus" restaurant and "Niola"/"Romero"(supervisors of Nautilus) and "CARLOS"(who is B & F in charge) also met vinita/shanty/herbert/martesano who are front office manaagers. Both the CHEFS "Sjoerd" and "Christoph" were excellent and made foods of our choice as we do not eat everything. Also met two wonderful Navigators " Mellisa" and "shekina" who gave us lots of advice. There was this lady (hostess in Nautilus restaurant during day time) was very friendly and she would reserve our seats in the corner.Sorry I forgot her name. There are other wonderful people(staffs) whose names we do not remember but we should say that everybody in this resort was very nice and kind. our room was ocean front with beautiful view of ocean and view of cruise ships (there were 3 cruise ships during our stay) The "Infinity Pool" (man made pool) is beautiful and there is some walking place but no beach. It was a memorable experience of our stay at this resort which we shall never forget in our life. we were very emotional when it was time to say good bye. It is like our second home and shall return again and stay for longer time and will recommend to all our friends and families.. we also met "MAYLIN" (G.M.) at Nautilus restaurant as she had come only for one day before going on holidays.'CURACAO" is about 14 degree from Equator so solar radiation is high so use sunscreen. we also had chance tosee cultural dancing show in the lobby on Thursday at 7 p.m. and also saw fire works in the town at 8 p.m. same day. We bought some souvenirs at "Island Treasures" in Otrabanda and met the owner "Sneha" who was very friendly and gave us free coin purse with the purchase. Her husband" Raj" has another shop with same name in "Punda" area. To go from Otrabanda to Punda, you have to cross the floating bridge which is amazing.
Overall a really good experience; hotel and grounds were clean and well maintained, everyone we encountered was friendly. Only "issues" were that conferences took priority over other guests; i.e. sections of the "beach"/pool area were off limits for certain periods and an evening conference event with very loud (good) music after 11pm outside our window. While notice was given, it was pretty much deal with it, not anything you could do about it. Chances are that if I decided to blast such music from our room, it would not have been taking as kindly.
