Renaissance Curacao Resort & Casino
- What's Included
I was a little worried after booking the Renaissance about the "fake" beach. I have to say that I was not disappointed in it for one second. You would never know you weren't on a "real" beach. You get exactly the same experience. In fact I would go back just for the fact that you did not have to play the beach chair game at all. The staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating. Everything was clean and the service was excellent. If I were to complain about one thing it would be that the air conditioning in the room (not sure if it is all) blows right on your head when you are in bed and I found that too cold. Grates to have the air blow up would be more sensible. The island is lovely and safe with lots of places to explore right from the hotel.
My wife and I just returned from two relaxing and glorious weeks at the Renaissance Curacao Resort & Casino. We never stepped foot in the casino so this review covers the hotel, pool, restaurant, etc... Without a doubt, this resort has the most genuinely warm and friendly staff of any resort we have visited! EVERYONE was friendly and went out of their way to answer questions, serve us, greet us, etc....A very special shout out to Disney-beach bar, Jake-door man, and Riangelo-front desk/lobby. The infinity (salt water) beach and (fresh water) pool were incredible with good food and drink service. No trouble ever getting towels and finding lounge chairs and a palapa. We loved watching the cruise ships and cargo ship/oil tankers come in to Willemstad....others may not. Food was all wonderful irregardless of whether it was beach side, room service or the restaurant. They pour a good cocktail at the beach/pool bar...try the rum punch!! Location was perfect for us as we did NOT do all-inclusive and thoroughly enjoyed the fine cuisine in and around Willemstad. We can HIGHLY recommend Exquisite Restaurant across from the resort...so good we went twice. Our thanks to all the staff and management for such a wonderful 2-week stay. We will definitely return and can highly recommend the Renaissance Curacao Resort & Casino.
We visited this beautiful resort fro Jan 29 - Feb 5, 2017. My husband and I were one couple of 4 on a week's vacation. We had visited this island once before while on a cruise and just loved it. Our room was very clean and cleaning staff were very friendly and always willing to help. The resort location was convenient to shopping and so close to many other restaurants and shops. The plantoon bridge was very neat! We routinely had breakfast at Nautilus restaurant and it was very good. Offered a variety of breakfast choices. Look out for Juwella and Rushendly - very friendly staff. Of course having Starbuck's included was fabulous- every day we would have a few coffees & treats. The man made beach is very interesting and so nice - everything you could ask from a beach but without the seaweed and little creatures (fishies). The Infinity Beach Bar was also were we had most of lunches/drinks. Bianca was so sweet and she always kept us well hydrated!! Now for the dinners - all dinners but one night (the night we arrived) we ate at Xquisit!!! What an experience from the first night we ate there until the last evening. We were so fortunate to have Giandra (Gigi) serve us! We cannot say enough about her! She went out of her way in making sure we were happy in our meal choices. We asked for her for the entire week!! On our last evening (2 days before my birthday) Gigi even had flowers on the table that she purchased and made a centrepiece - very sweet! As you can see our experience was amazing. There could have been a couple of things that could be improved. There were no entertainment in the evening after 9-9:30 pm., other than the casino. It would have been nice to have some live entertainment. They did have some but it ended too early and we were only able to listen to them for a short while because we had dinner reservations. We did enjoy a late night cocktail up by the beach (infinity beach bar) but it closed at 10pm and we had to go down to the Blue Bar to get our drinks. This is were we met "Piet" he always served us quickly and provided us some guidance on drinks. You cannot miss him because he wears a vest with flags of the world pins that guests have given him. Such a sweet man! Also perhaps adding another restaurant would be good as well - maybe an Italian one?? Overall a good week was had by all of us!
Curacao is very expensive, it cost 18.00 for one small sushi roll, it cost 20.00 for a five minute taxi ride to the New mall that had only high end stores and very few people, in the hotel dinning room I had a chicken burger that was so dry I had to take it out of the bun and use a steak knife to cut it up in tiny pieces, that and a cola was 18.00. Hotel housekeeping was excellent as well as the trip finder person Shelia who helped us get the perfect tour for certain health conditions. There was an event on the beach about 30 feet from our patio door, very loud for almost 5 hours, they had the speakers facing the hotel which made it even louder, talked with the night manager and she tried to get them to be quietier but they were not, to much bass bouncing off the building till 10:45 p.m.. Both my self and husband got sick and where thinking of returning home one week early, Sunwing wanted to charge us another 800.00 to re book one week early when there was 21 seats available on he flight, WILL NOT USE SUNWING AGAIN.
Just got back from a week at the Marriot. Great experience and just the facts here.. we are a couple in our mid to late 40s looking for a relaxing week away from the kids and work. $25 taxi from Airport. Staff was excellent but housekeeping did the bare minimum for morning service. Ice bucket remained with melted ice and last nites drink glasses remained. We are respectable and left tips so felt a little disappointed. The chocolates and water found every nite at turn down was nice.4th floor ocean view was nice. In the morning we watched the boat people walking by the resort down below in route to the fort. we were across from the beach pool and yes there are palms in the way but still plenty of view of the water. The food at the beach bar was awesome even for a beach bar. We always found an open palapa no matter what time we made it to the beach. Other reviews about the cruise ship and freighters are accurate and kinda cool compared to most beach resorts we've been to. The saltwater sand beach 'pool' is drained and cleaned Mondays so that day we went to the aquarium beach which was a good time but $20 taxi each way from Punda side of floating bridge-probably could have negotiated. Note the Marriot beach is still open Monday mornings. I do think they could keep the sand a little cleaner but still was a great place to relax.Location can't be beat. Within easy walking distance to the floating market, waterfront restaurants and the whole downtown Punda area all via the floating bridge. Nothing ever felt crowded even with boats in port. Surprised by seeing all the locals intermixed with tourists. Authentic and interesting. Never really felt unsafe downtown Punta.$30 taxi back to airport...? About the airport: duty free shop at arrival and departure. Upon leaving we had to wait for the American Airline counter to open which was about 90minutes before boarding-never had to wait to get into an airport before. Once inside lots of shops and at least one restaurant had a smoking room. Modern airport for a small island.
