Just got back from this resort last week. And it was defiantly a trip to remember! Right from checking in everyone was so helpful. Yes the rooms are a bit outdated but really we're only there to sleep! We had a couple problems with our room and they switched our room with no questions asked! The food was always delicious, something for everyone to eat, the blue lagoon and Italian restaurants are the place to go! The bartenders are great at the beach! Saul and Alfred go above and beyond for you!! The animation staff were amazing! Always interacting with the guests, big shout out chufly, black panther and julio nice!! Already looking into going back to this amazing resort!!
I have nothing but rave reviews when it comes to Lifestyle resort. While some complain about the sales pitch, their resorts and services are like no other. I have stayed at many 5star resorts and it could not compare. As a member I look forward to visiting every year.
Ive been to Lifestyle, Puerto Plata quite a few times over the last five years and it never disappoints. I always feel at home. The employees make your vacation. From check in to check out everybody is there to make sure you have a great time. The cleaning staff is always smiling and accommodating. Nelson the bartender is the best. He always is smiling and makes sure everybody is having a great time. Julio Nice made sure that we had an amazing time and kept us laughing. Him and the rest of the animation team were amazing. The other bartenders, Andres, Diomy, David, Gerson, and Jose are also great and very accommodating. I could not have asked for a better time. We actually left the resort to visit family and ended up retuning a few nights later because we had so much fun and met so many amazing people. We will definitely be back ASAP.
I rated this very good because when you consider what you pay to get all-inclusive in the Caribbean vs the issues, it's not a bad deal... but please read on!! I am a little tainted because my first Caribbean experience was Sandal's and so was my second because it was so awesome, but there is no comparison price wise. Yes i read all of the reviews before i left and i was a bit nervous after i booked through Groupon. Overall, it was a good relaxing time FOR THE VERY LITTLE WE SPENT. I will never complain about getting away from the cold to sit in the sun in the Caribbean, However...1.) If you are Groupon, print your damn receipt or check in will be a nightmare. If you do forget, Groupon is awesome and helping you out!2.) This is not Sandal's, nor will it ever be because you are put in a cast system based on your what level or VIP status you are and thus treated differently. Member's/shareholders (actual VIP) are numero uno. Then "VIP" like Groupon, then your regular joe blow's. 3.) The men in Tan shirts really do bugged the crap out of you to "take a free tour and receive a free gift." They are trying to sell you a timeshare. If this doesn't interest you, say no and walk away. We did and they eventually got the hint.4.) The food is awesome!! I'm a foodie and appreciate good food, the Casablanca buffet was excellent, and whoever says otherwise is crazy. Probably a 4 star resort as far as food goes. 5.) Yes you do tip for everything... not required, but does go along way to ensure you have a good experience. Bring lots of cash. Cash for everything!6.) The grounds are gorgeous, however, you can, on the occasion, smell sewage. Not pleasant, but not permanent. Also, they apparently incinerate their garbage (next to the Duty Free) and you can smell and see the burning plastic smell pretty much daily.7.) The rooms are dated, tired and lack luster... BUT did you come all the way to DR to stay in your room!? We didn't. We slept, napped, showered and used the bathrooms. Yea things are broken and missing but, dude, you just paid right around $60 pp, per night to stay in paradise!! That's like a Days Inn back home... get over it! If you paid more than that, you did it wrong. Check Groupon or Cheap Caribbean. 8.) DO NOT SCUBA DIVE HERE!! The dive company is as sketchy as a fox guarding a hen house! Lacking in safety and not well organized. Some of the staff are great, but overall, no good! 9.) The water is not real clear at all in front of the resort. I tried to snorkel it, and i could not see my hand. Also the waves are ginormous on a calm day! Then i asked the dive staff about it... that's when the said that is why they don't have a boat at the resort because there is nothing to see. You get bused (canvas covered cattle car more like it) to Sosua which has awesome water and beached btw!10.) Entertainment staff, like my boy Shoefly, are beyond amazing! Go to the shows, get to Las Canas by the main pool before 7:30pm to get a seat, and have fun. Then go to the Colosseum after to watch the show.11.) The in room "mini bar" does not get refilled everyday, unless you tippy tippy the room service and/or ask nicely when you see them.12.) Go talk to "John Wayne" in the main lobby about the Horse Ride in the Mountains with Treasure Cove Ranch. Absolutely without a doubt made our trip! So overall, it was a nice get away that i paid very little for, got some sun, drank a lot, ate a lot and relaxed. You make your vacation what it is. If this is what you can afford (like me, couldn't afford Sandal's this go around) then book it and make it a great trip.
Stayed from March 10-17th. Arrived with no issues late evening and were accommodated to our room right away with help from the luggage guys in the front. First night was pleasant and despite the fact that we had a ceiling leak by the fan, they sent someone quickly to assess the problem and the next morning we were moved to a better room closer to the pool and the beach. Very good service! Where do I start?! Food was great, drinks were always available but my favorite part of the stay was the animation crew. JULIO NICE was always the life of the party always made sure everyone was participating and laughing, he was amazing. MINNIE MOUSE, CHUFLY and BLACK PANTHER always made sure everyone had something fun to do with the pool side activities and never hesitated to help break the ice and involve people in all activities. BRAYAN and CHISPAS also joined the fun activities. I loved the pool side games and the aerobics, the coconut game was also very fun! They were always smiling and making jokes to make you smile. The best bartender by the pool was NELSON. Fast, friendly service and good, cold, strong drinks! The shows at night were amazing and the talented animation staff mentioned above were also always involved in the shows at night. My favorite dancer/ performer was ELVIS ZACARÍAS who was always very professional and smiling. No one can dance like he does!! Last but not least the staff at the Casablanca was always friendly and the service was great. Ask for "CARAMELO" during breakfast, and "JOSE" at night for dinner. You won't go wrong! Tell them all "Lady la Colombiana" said hello so they will take extra good care of you! Overall it was a pleasant experience and one where we met great people and made even better memories. Recommend this hotel for an experience like no other! I will return!!
