We just got back from our trip last night. Overall we enjoyed our trip. The weather wasn't great but that's not their fault.Pros:- special shout out to Rey at the pool. Lots of fun.- overall the food was good. I liked the no reservation aspect. If they had room, you just go in and eat. If there was no room, you can put your name on a list and get a table first come first serve. The Mexican restaurant was the best. Have the burrito!- very clean. I had no issues with the cleanliness of the whole place. Every morning they would sweep up all the leaves and wash down areas that needed it. You could smell bleach at times which I think is a good thing.- there was always a spot to sit at the pool but not always an umbrella.- the staff was helpful and if you needed something or an answer to a question, I felt they tried to assist.- Saturday foam party is awesome. Monday beach party was fun.- I don't know if we were lucky or not, but there were hardly any bugs there. A fair number of wasps, but not much else. I saw them doing daily bug fogging. The rain may have helped...Cons- apart from some trees, there are no umbrellas on the beach.- beer was not good (or at least to my taste). I would have preferred at least two choices of beer (regular / dark).- half of the rooms in wings #1 and #6 back onto the road. The road noise starts at 7am. Someone has to get these rooms and the luck of the draw was us. I would have preferred a different one but that's the way it goes. If this is an issue for you, make sure you discuss it before you arrive.- We only went to the Blend restaurant once. We did not enjoy it. I would say for the entire resort, don't order any form of beef steak. Other beef is fine, just not steaks. We had three steaks from three places over the week and all were poor. Just don't order it. If management is reading this, try to educate your cooks on how to cook steaks.Other comments:- Getting drinks was easy at the two bars. Drink service at the pool was hit and miss, and I don't recall getting drinks at the beach. Basically go in knowing that 90% of the time you have to get your own drinks.- Alcohol quality was poor to average. They have a couple of slightly better bottles but you have to ask for them and they run out quickly for the day.- If you want to buy a big mug, coffee or junk, there is a small mall about a 4 minute walk to from the resort (turn left when you walk out the door). Their prices are about 1/2 of the stuff at the resort, but still a rip off. I'm not sure if you can haggle there (I'm not good at it). The best prices are way outside of the resort, but how do you get there. If you go on the city tour, it ends at a supermarket. Everyone stocks up there. Prices are cheap (no haggling). If you want your own booze/wine, this is the only real place to buy it. Everywhere else is a rip off. There is a small flea market a 5 minute walk down the beach. I didn't like it. It was more or less beach vendors that can afford a roof.- This is a quieter resort. If you're going for a party, this might not be the place. It has some fun events but generally speaking it is designed for adults that want to relax.- Beach vendors and the resort time share people were not that bad. Most of the time a simple no thank you would work. If you are being polite and start talking with them, it opens the door and then they get pushy. Just try not to talk with them apart from hello. You will see the experienced person walk a safe distance from them just to avoid the conversations. The beach vendors generally just walked back and forth. Again if you talk with them, then you have started something.- I wanted to get a massage. The on-site spa prices were crazy. Based on the economy there and wages, I was expecting quite lower prices. They are more expensive than back here in Canada. I got a massage at the beach, 30 min for $15 (make sure to haggle down to this). A note to management: if you dropped your price by 25%, you would see a 100% increase in spa usage.Overall this is a nice resort. We enjoyed our time. If you are looking for a clean simpler place with good food, then this is your place. And if you have an upset stomach, ask for a "bomba". It's their cure-all. Tastes horrible but works. For those who don't know, it costs $10 US to enter per person and $20 US to exit per person. Some booking companies provide it, some don't. Make sure to check. Use American money for this. It's faster and the best deal. Lastly, they say you can brush your teeth with the water, but based on how my stomach was, I wouldn't recommend it.
We have been héré 2 weeks And everything it Was good. The food have been good everywhere and the service is excellent. The beach is really nice and the grounds are well kept. The resort is small and relaxing, my only complain is the People smoking in the room, they should put a sign that say to not smoke, i dont smoke and all the smoke of my neighbourn come in my room, it is annoying. I Want say a special thanks to the entertainment team to make our vacation so great, you are amazing, thank to La gata, baby, herculés, percha, candy, Goofy. We recommend this resort.
Enjoyed our stay at this resort from Jan5-12. We stayed in a suite and our friend had a bliss room. They were both very nice. We ate at all restaurants except Sofrito"s and the food was great. All staff were personable and helpful. A $1 bill in the fridge and a note got you whatever you requested. Best bartender was Omar who never forgot what our preferences were and had them ready every time we approached. Entertainment staff did really well. Id have to say Hercules was my favorite but Chocolate and le Baby were a lot of fun too. It is a smaller resort than we have ever been to but found it very intimate and inviting. Spent our mornings at the beach and afternoons at the pool and both were fantastic. Yes after rain and wind there was seaweed and garbage on the beach but was seen to right away.We treated ourselves and had massages at the spa and a fish pedi. Reasonably priced. Vendors on the beach respected a firm no thank you and we were only approached once by the Viva Club reps and when we declined they didnt ask us again during our week. Our Sunwing rep was informative and down to earth and gave us a lot of good do's and don'ts to help us during our stay. We booked excursions thru our rep as well and were not disappointed. There is also a plaza about 3 minutes outside of the gates of the resort and a market just down the beach as well. We try to go to a different resort each time we travel but this is a gem and we would definitely return.
This hotel is a BIG disappointment! Rooms are terrible, entertainment is almost non existent. Food is average at best. No one seems to care. Will never return!nothing like I expected Why would people return?
We read many reviews before booking. We had a great time with the animation team. Rey is very friendly and helpful without being pushy! The whole team works very hard from dawn to way past dusk. Also love señor Pout🤣aka Baby. Amazing. Food was good for the most part but don't recommend the beef! Mexican is by far the best. Foam party was awesome. And don't miss the beach party if it's on since it's weather dependant.
