The Dreams Punta Cana is a wonderful resort for both couples and families. There is always a different show held every night, so you'll never be bored. There is also a plethora of activities by the pool to do during the day. The rooms are incredibly spacious and modern. Great attentive and pleasant staff. The pool area is massive, giving plenty of room for those who are looking to lounge poolside. The beach also has plenty of loungers available. However, the ocean has a tendency to be fairly rocky, making the pool a better option for those who are looking to wade in the water. Great a la carte items available. Make sure to check out the Japanese style teppanyaki, El Patio, Portofino restaurants while you're there.
Dreams Punta Cana never disappoints us. From the moment of arrival we were pampered and have never felt more welcomed. We booked this time through Costco travel, flew with WestJet and upgraded to a Preferred Jr. Suite though the hotel. Our room was decorated with banners, balloons, personalized photos, chocolates and wine on the table. Such a warm and beautiful welcome. The resort looked great. It had only been opened for 12 days prior to our arrival after hurricane Maria shut it down. Many of the palm trees looked worse for wear, but all in all the resort looked amazing and rejuvenated with evidence of fresh planting and new thatching on many roof tops. All the restaurants were up and running. Oceana and Seaside Grill remain our favourites with Oceana offering the best views for breakfast (a perk of the Preferred Club) Our only disappointment was our meal at the Himatsu restaurant. The service was inattentive and the food boring. The teppanyaki grill on a previous night was amazing as always and never boring.I have several posts from previous years and my thoughts an opinions are not much changed. This is a resort worthy of visiting. It is not shiny and new. Some of the room fixtures have taken a beating over the years, but it is clean, comfortable and the entire experience of Dreams Punta Cana has never diminished over the years. It is a fabulous resort that is user friendly and small enough that you can walk it with ease. We never felt we had to hide or protect our electronics, and never did. The staff is amazing and go out of their way to make our stay fabulous.I wanted to thank a few staff members for their outstanding contribution to our stayArialdis Martinez. Excellent service, you thought of everything and more. Whether you were on the clock or off, you made our stay so special.Joel Gonzolez, World Cafe. I went to the World Cafe almost daily just for the pure enjoyment of spending time with this beautiful man. Miguel, our mini bar re-stocker. Thank you for your outstanding daily service and for my goodbye hug. I will miss my Brugal and chips.Pablo and the travelling band. We were at Dreams Punta Cana for 2 weeks and almost every night they entertained us with their beautiful songs. I am pretty certain that Pablo and I are now engaged.Margarita, for your beautiful friendship year after year. The entire Preferred Club staff, especially Adrian.Johanna our housekeeper. We made a new friend and our room was spotless. We loved her towel art.Go to Dreams for the beauty, the value, the beach and pool. Return again and again because of the amazing people.
We visited Dreams Punta Cana from the 9th-19th November. We spent a long time researching the resort and expected pretty OK food, lovely gardens and bad rooms and that's pretty much what we got. On arrival around 8pm we were put into building 2 and dropped our bags off. Initial thoughts on the room was that it was old and in serious need of a refurb. The building interiors and doors need repainting, the rooms need redecorating and there are multiple things either hanging off the wall or not attached at all (telephones, lights etc). The room was also interconnecting with a paper-thin door and we could hear next door getting ready to go out. Our view at that point was that we weren't there to spend time in the room so we'll deal with it and went out for a few drinks. On return to the room (after some rain) we found our bathroom leaking and requested another room which was quickly provided (around 12am). They took us to building three where the same experience was had, only this time we noticed that we could hear the TV from next door and couldn't sleep. We complained again and were told that all rooms are interconnecting except the suites. Eventually we decided that for the sake of sleeping for 10 nights we would upgrade and pay the additional cost. The reason I highlight this is so that people know what to expect from the rooms - it really is poor. Outside of this the resort is pretty good - there is loads to do, watersports, sports, shows etc and the entertainment team are very friendly and get you involved (if you want to be). The beach is nice tho as mentioned previously not the crystal clear waters associated with the carribean. The pool is a meandering 250m long which seems to get louder the further down you go, which is great as your can either get stuck into the dancing and drinking or stay a bit further up and read a book. The food was OK, moving to good - the Hibachi was fun, the steakhouse served an OK steak and the Italian had a good selection of fresh food (despite it's proximity to the buffet). I was disappointed by the fish restaurant but that's it really. The world café was great for breakfast and lunch and there are various theme days on the beach that are fantastic (catch of the day party particularly). I was sick on the 3rd day in the evening after eating lunch but that could have been any number of things. The service was fantastic however, particularly Edry. They work their socks off and are extremely kind and courteous, and the grounds were beautiful, you even get a thrice daily show from the flamengos. Overall, it depends what you're after. If you've been to high-end all inclusives then don't expect this to reach the same levels, but if you've paid an affordable amount, want lots of activities, attentive service and a relaxing OR fun week then it may suit you.
Just got back, was travelling with kids and met others at the resort. A group of 13 in total. The Rooms:After reading all the reviews I was pleasantly surprised with the condition of the room. I didn’t have any issues with it. We were in a family room, which was a nice layout to give everyone some privacy. Preferred Club:I was not planning on booking this but others we were travelling with did so I succumbed. It was nice to have, I could have had a great time without it as well. If I was travelling during the busy season I would say it would definitely be worth it.Food:Food was great, we ate at all the restaurants and had good experience. The service was quick and the food was excellent. Kids always found something to eat at the restaurants as well. Gluten Free options were available although only marked on some of the menus. Beach:I was concerned after reading so many negative review of the beach but it is the same wonderful sand beach you get on the main Bravaro stretch. Our group tried out windsurfing, sailing and kayaking on multiple occasions. Explorer’s club:This was a standout for me on this trip. At 6 and 4 our kids absolutely loved it. In the past we’ve had to try and convince them to go to other kids clubs but they asked to go here. They usually went in the afternoon for a bit of crafts and then time in pool with water slides. They also went a couple of evenings for dinner and a movie. There was formal sign in/sign out. They provide a cell phone to you so that you can be reached, which is a nice touch. Thanks to Carol and all the others for this excellent service. Other:There is a series of covered walkways that allow you to get from one end of the resort to the other and stay mostly dry which is a major plus during the rainy season. The nights when they have vendors on site was my only negative experience. I know all resorts have this but there was no avoiding it at Dreams. They were right on the main walkway so I felt like I was walking the gauntlet. I found them very pushy and disrespectful. A polite no thank you was not enough for them. Dreams, you need to rein these guys in or find a different location that isn’t in everyone’s path, I heard lots of others complaining about it as well.
My sisters and I visited this resort last week... We travel every two years ..We have been to Ireland, London, Australia, Italy, Florida Keys, Coronado CA, US Virgin Islands, North Shore Boston, and more.. This was the only time we would have stayed another week.. AMAZING !!! RELAXING !! We had NO complaints ... WE WILL BE BACK, already planning..Kerin Kelly
We just returned from our 14 day stay at Dreams and overall it was good! I'll start with the bad first. This was our 3rd stay here and I have to say a lot has changed. We were a group of 30 and I'll start with check in, most of our guests were satisfied but some not so much, my friend and her husband that have 2 young children got to their room to noticed it hadn't even been cleaned from the previous guests and after a long day traveling they were not happy l! Another guest of ours spent a lot of money to upgrade to preferred with a honeymoon suite and when they got to their room it was facing construction and the jacuzzi didn't even work! They had gone back to tell them they want a refund and the staff said no problem but come day 5 still no refund and my brother in law got upset! Then he received a letter stating that he would never be allowed to return to their property??? Another upgraded guest that was celebrating their anniversary was told during their second week they can change rooms So they unpacked all of their things and then was told they can move rooms sooner after packing everything up they come to find out they were upgraded to the same room just on another floor!! Guest was not happy after packing, unpacking, then packing again just to unpack another time! Myself I didn't have much to complain about overall I had an amazing trip! My husband and I got married there and it was all amazing but everything felt rushed there was no time for speeches dances nothing! I was even told that the song playing was our last as they were packing up tables and chairs around us, I spent a lot of money and felt it was very rude! My parents got married here 5 years ago and we were able to have fun at the reception all night long hence why I chose this place, very upsetting! Moving on to the good and the great! Staff is amazing!! The entertainment team made our trip! I would like to mention Very Happy who had a huge part in making our trip so great. He's was amazing with my 4 year old daughter, myself and my husband he's a very genuine soul!! And to smile, scooby doo, CJ, Juan Carlos (SU bar) Jesus (SU bar), coffee boy, Carlos (entertainment bar) Thank you guys for being amazing!
