The Dreams Punta Cana is a wonderful resort for both couples and families. There is always a different show held every night, so you'll never be bored. There is also a plethora of activities by the pool to do during the day. The rooms are incredibly spacious and modern. Great attentive and pleasant staff. The pool area is massive, giving plenty of room for those who are looking to lounge poolside. The beach also has plenty of loungers available. However, the ocean has a tendency to be fairly rocky, making the pool a better option for those who are looking to wade in the water. Great a la carte items available. Make sure to check out the Japanese style teppanyaki, El Patio, Portofino restaurants while you're there.
When we arrived here we were initially impressed with this resort. It is certainly an older resort but the ambiance, landscaping design of the resort had us falling in Love. Our standard room was way too small for 3 people, not enough storage, so we upgraded to a suite, and began enjoying our vacation! Food is delicious and the pool is fantastic! We were asked to leave our room so it could be fumigated, which was fine, we are usually out of it most of the day anyway. Two days later we saw insects crawling in the closet where all of our clothes were stored. I called and a worker came and sprayed raid all over our clothing. I called to explain that this was unacceptable, and a manager came to check it out. After seeing the pictures we took, thank goodness we did, they agreed to launder all of our clothing. I expressed concern about how long it would take, as we would be stuck in the room until we had clothing back. We literally each have one outfit. She ASSURED me we would have it all returned by noon today. I just called and have been told it will be 5 or 6 this afternoon. I have said this is unacceptable, but realize there is nothing we can do. We will be stuck in this room and there is nothing we can do about it, and they do not seem to care. And even more frustrating were the two men who showed up to collect our clothing, who were rolling their eyes about having to take the laundry and made comments about how they would just step in the bugs! And, to add insult to injury, we discovered more bugs this morning. We have waited an hour and a half, and guess what the response was?? You got it, a guy with a can of raid showed up, ready to spray all our stuff with it. This time it is all our toiletries. Beyond angry with this response. And so done with this type of service. Would not recommend this hotel now to anyone. Still have to get through 6 more days....what a terrible way to spend our second week of vacation and hard earned money.
We have been to the Dreams Palm resort 2 times before, but decided to try "Resort & Spa" for this visit. We stayed for 2 week, I would have been happy to spend the rest of my life here. It is a little bit expensive when we visited over Christmas and new years eve, but was worth it.First, the preferred Club was a great investment, the staff at the restaurant was amazing and taking great care of us for breakfast and lunch, was great to enjoy without the nice in the buffet. Great choices of things to eat, the Tuna Tartar is fantastic. The preferred club lounge is also an addition that we greatly appreciated, very professional bar tenders and top of the shelf drinks (Yes - they do have JW Black label). Minibar upgrade was also good. The restaurants are great, we loved the Italian and the Japanese the best. Japanese one tends to be crowded, but if you are there when they open (17:00), you can easily get a stop for the Tepanyaki (Sorry about spelling), very cool experience. We got a room at first we where not to happy with, but we got upgraded with no extra charge on day 3 to a "pool swim-down" room, which was great.Only thing to complain (VERY small complaint) is that the cleaning of the rooms are not very timed. If you put your "do not disturb" sign on the door, and the flip it to green when you go for a 2 hour lunch, do not expect that someone saw it and cleaned the room. A word of advice, there is a phone number you can call to remind regarding cleaning. All in all, I give this establishment my warmest recommendations, me and my wife had a super time and will defiantly go there again if we visit Punta Cana again.
This is our second trip to Dreams Punta Cana and it was equally as good as the first. We arrived late as our plane was delayed and was given our room, we discovered after unpacking that there was a connecting door to another room. In the morning we realised that we could enter their room and therefore they could enter ours. We were not happy with this so asked at reception for a room change. Joel Rodriquez at the front desk was fantastic and arranged it all for us that day. We had told him it was our anniversary while we were there and he arranged for us to have champagne and chocolates. Nothing was too much trouble for him, he is a credit to customer service. Everything was so lovely and Larisa arranged our anniversary breakfast in our room for us and even checked that everything was perfect. This year my wife did aqua aerobics and it was Scooby Doo who took them and she said he made the class such fun. All the restaurants were once again superb with such a fantastic choice. We are so pleased we came back and we will be back again, as we could not fault anything in the resort. The staff were constantly cleaning everywhere in the resort. We went on the Outback excursion which was great fun, excellent guide Juan and driver Bobby. Thank you Dreams for such a good holiday.
If I describe all the problems in this place, I will have a novel like "War and Peace" of Tolstoy.1. Rooms. They are very old and poorly equipped.2. Beach. If you not go at 8 o'clock in the morning on the beach, there will be no towels for you. Olso there will be no sun chairs. The same is the situation in the pool area.3. Restorants and food. Food in restaurants is a lot, but with very low quality. For a week thay serve seafood meals only two times, which is shameful for a hotel which is located on a island. Seafood restorant is disgusting, with a not tasty food and not fresh fish. Only meat restorant is ok. In all restorants serve only one brand cheap white and red wine. If you want a drink someting better you have to buy it very expensive. 4. Bars and drinks. You can find only low-quality alcoholic beverages. Kafe espresso can drink in only one plase, far from the beach. Overal. Hotel is wery old, adn need a renovation. Food is terible. DO NOT GO IN DREAMS!!!!
This review comes almost a year later, I did not want to write a review out of disappointment and regret, so I decided to let time pass. Even after all this time; feelings are still the same. Check in was a nightmare; our room was not ready for three hours. We were so hungry, asked about something to eat and was meant by hesitation??? I agree with another reviewer about the property being tired/dated. The amount of pressure put on you to buy things is incredibly uncomfortable and takes away from your trip. We went on the tour of Zoetry, another property. We were told it would only be a hour and a half by a gentleman that calls himself “Mr. Chocolate”, who goes on and on about himself and how he is there to make us “happy”.... ha! we returned back from the other property over three hours later, we did not buy into the “sell” because it was so overpriced, don’t you know Mr.Chocolate never spoke to us again, not even a hello:( so much for “happy”. Impossible to get into the “reservation” restaurants! Lots of socializing among the workers that work here, and a complete disrespect for the guest, My husband takes me somewhere every year for my birthday/Valentines, my husband let them know ahead of time, not one single thing was done for the occasion as my husband had requested. We saw others celebrating special things with ribbons on there doors, dinners, flowers, etc. Not till I became visibly upset did someone try to do something....to little to late. We have been to so many resorts like this one in Cancun, Jamaica; Rivera Maya; and even Dominican Republic, and have never been so disappointed! I could go on about other things but I will stop here. Choose wisely fellow travelers.
