Hotel review:I stayed at Alsol luxury village once before which we enjoyed, the rooms are not rooms but apartments! We stayed here as we were trying to figure out if we wanted to do our wedding here. The staff were really nice, the property is beautiful, rooms are great and the food was good. The resort is 15 mins from the airport, their shuttle is overpriced $45usd one way, just take a taxi you will pay $20 tops. Only cons would probably be there is no immediate beach but they do provide a free shuttle throughout the day to take you to Juanillo beach which is beautiful. You can also walk to Alsol Tiara and use their pool and restaurants. The hotel is pretty cheap compared to other hotels in cap cana/punta cana area. There is no nightlife in the hotel, maybe karaoke thats about it. The hotel is huge so it feels really empty at times, if you want peace and quiet this hotel is for you. Wedding review: NOT RECOMMENDEDJust a little info....We chose Alsol Luxury Village because it was very affordable and different, it had a small vintage chapel that I really loved next to the marina. The planning process was not easy, our first coordinator was not responsive with emails, then they changed my coordinator without informing me. I came to find out a month later being introduced to someone new based in Mexico. She was better than the first coordinator but there was new management and things had changed, I had to show proof of emails where things were promised to me and should not be changed for my wedding. They agreed but this was completely unprofessional and added stress. The worst thing that happened 2 weeks before the wedding was my reception venue was double booked for a charity event, they tried really hard to compensate for this they even gave us the presidential suite with rooftop pool and private restaurant for the wedding reception which we had no other choice but to agree to it. I have way more details to give regarding the wedding planning with Alsol, you can message me if you'd like but I do not recommend this hotel to host your wedding.
Alsol Luxury Village had wonderful service, beautiful pools, lots of activities and great food. Everyone was so helpful and nice as they could be. My three kids loved the cave expedition, foam party and Kids Club leaders (Black Pit and Skinny)!! My husband and I enjoyed the food and many activities - spanish class helped a lot!! Wonderful Vacation!!
The Good - This former condo resort has beautiful accommodations and very good service. It caters to young families, has a lovely pool and immaculate grounds. The Bad - The food is average and the selection and change of food is poor. The Ugly - Loud obnoxious music catering to the pool staff and not the clientele. No beach.Several people complained about the loud music (actually so loud it distorted the sound) by the pool. In an attempt to get people to participate in activities, they cranked the music until many people left. We were told by some people who live there, that they need to feel the music. We did'nt need to have our fillings rattlled. The music selection at times was dubious and designed to entertain the pool staff with loud vulgar swearing rap music. Not good for families. The entertainment director, Charlie was not helpful in any regard. The hotel staff apologized and offered to move us. That would have treated the sympton but not the problem. We did find Anise in customer service to be helpful and she made attempts to rresolve the music issue. That lasted for 2 days and then back to same old crap. Tried to speak with the GM and senior staff, but they were always un available. We would not go back unless changes are made and would not recommend this hotel.
I have been a long-standing member of AAA and I am unsure of the criteria they use to rate their “Four Diamond” hotels, but my recent stay proved that either the rating is dated and hotels don't uphold the standard by which they are measured; or the rating process is not inclusive enough. My perception of luxury is not only based on a physical appearance or amenities offered, but also a level of accompanying coordination and service associated with the tangible attributes. I feel Alsol felt short of this. I visited the Alsol Luxury village in Dominican Republic (both for the first time) and from the minute I arrived, I was disappointed. I called in advance to arrange for transportation and was told that there would be someone waiting for me at the airport and they would be clearly identifiable because they would have my name on a sign. However after almost 30 minutes of sifting through the sea of signs and being bombarded by all the other taxi service men, we decided to negotiate with one of the services to take us to the hotel. After finally getting to the hotel (my wife and two year old daughter in tow) we checked in and waited as we were packed up with another couple to be shuttled via golf carts to our one-bedroom suite. However, once we got to our suite our keys would not work. Our bus offered to go and retrieve new keys, however after about another 20 minutes, frustration kicked in and I was able to convince a cleaning lady to let us in while we waited on the bus to return with working keys. The suite itself was well appointed, however once we decided to use the bathroom, we realized that cleanliness beats well-appointed. It was clear that the room was not prep’d for our arrival. The shower was filled with HUGE strands of what seemed to be hair on the walls and the floor with most of it clumped-up by the drains. Used bath and shower gel bottles rested on the ledge in the shower and the glass was filled with soap scum (despite the frosting on the glass this was clearly visible). Another annoyance was the wifi. It's clear they meter the wifi in the lobby so that if you want to do anything other than check an email, you will be frustrated enough to pay the $12 a day for wifi that was supposed to work throughout the facility. Just be prepared to walk around with the paper they provide, because even in the room it drops for periods at a time and you will have to re-enter the credentials each time. “Nickel-and-Diming” for wifi in 2017 hardly speaks luxury to me. The food left a whole lot to be desired, literally. We didn't do the all-inclusive package because we figured we would venture into town to taste the local cuisine. However, when we did order food from the hotel most of the food (and drinks) we had were sub-par. We thought we were the only ones that felt this way, however after complaining and receiving a complementary dinner at their flagship restaurant, we realized that they only reserved the good stuff for places that weren't included in the all-inclusive packages; and a couple of us mentioned “we’ll tell everybody to eat here because the food is awful everywhere else.” Side note: this was the only place that felt luxurious and had excellent service. Edwin our server was excellent and the food was amazing. I would give our experience a strong C-minus: from forgetting us at the airport; long wait to get in our room; dirty bathroom; sub-par food; and charging for wifi that isn't the greatest. There's work to do Alsol “Luxury,” and AAA there's some sharpening up needed on your measuring tools.
If you're looking for a luxury property with great food, professional staff and lots of dining options, then Alsol is a great choice! It was wonderful to have the option of spending time at Tiara, del mar, or Juanillo Beach as well as the beautiful pool and village at the Luxury Complex. This was a unique experience compared to the past all inclusive trips we have taken as a family. Shout out to Jorge in the dining room, Spaghetti, Pooka, Black Pit and Skinny at the Luxury Pool - and Alex at the Tiara coffee bar - all very friendly and professional! :)
