Barcelo Bavaro Beach
- What's Included
- All Inclusive Features
Although listed as a 5, this hotel is probably closer to a 4 star. While there are many comparable 5 star resorts, the Barcelo Bavaro Beach still promises beautiful accommodations and boasts to have one of the most beautiful Oceanside views in the world. The Barcelo Bavaro Beach is a family friendly resort. However, there are options of staying in an adult exclusive area for those looking for quieter and more discreet scenery.
We had a really good time and enjoyed the resort. The beach, food, pool, entertainment and service were all really good! We normally stay at smaller resorts and really liked having access to so many amenities offered at the sister property, while still maintaining that small resort feeling. Our room was in the 6000 block, which was perfect as it was closest to the other resort and we could walk there in 5 minutes or so. We did have the Club Premium upgrade, which we thought was worth it, but we only paid approximately $100CAD per person for the upgrade. Not sure it would be worth too much more than that.As noted in other reviews, service on the beach would really be welcomed and the rooms are very dated. I normally don't pay too much attention to comments like that, but the rooms here really do need an update, but they were clean and we had no real issues. One major issue that we had was that the resort does not let outside tour companies on the property to pick up guests. I understand wanting to sell your own tours and also perhaps blaming it on a safety issue, but as a guest if I want to be picked up by someone then they should be allowed in the gates. I found this a bit greedy and annoying. Two separate tour companies said that there are only a few resorts in Punta Cana that give them a hard time and this is one of them. The tour companies figure ways around it, but it makes it an inconvenience for guests and I think it is unnecessary. If anything it makes me want to give my money to other companies even more rather than book the tours through the resort.Overall it was a really good resort and one that we may return to in the future.
This was my 5th visit to the resort. I had emailed the hotel in advance with room requests and booking for restaurants. Evelyn promptly replied. We didn't get the rooms requested as the rooms were full but the next day Myra at the front desk moved us. Thanks to Evelyn for the chocolates, champaign and birthday cake that was sent to the room and for booking our dinner reservations.I love this resort. It's a beautiful beach with lots of chairs...you can always find one. The pool chairs go quickly but at 10:30am we could still find one.My husband and his friend enjoyed their day of golf and said the restaurant there was excellent. On a rainy afternoon the also visited the sports bar to watch a European soccer game. They liked the food at the sports bar...onion rings ...chicken wings etc.The buffet food was very good we were always able to find something to eat. The buffet itself is very busy and the staff work very hard with a smile on their faces. It's hard for them to keep up with the flow. The coffee machine did keep breaking down but they did make a good cappuccino. We went to 3 specialty restaurants. The Coral...seafood...is on the Palace side. We found the service slow and the food arrived cold. We had excellent service at Brisas and we all enjoyed our food. This restaurant is open air and I did find it was warm in the evening. Service was good at international...forget the name but it's right beside the buffet. Food was good but my steak could have been cooked more...was rare ...I had ordered medium. It was a little tough. But everyone enjoyed their meal. The rooms were as expected. The maid only occasionally left snacks. There is a room fridge with soft drinks and beer.We were there for 10 days and it rained for 5. The entertainment staff worked very hard during the rainy days.I like this resort because it is compact, all rooms are close to the beach and at the beach you never play the towel game. I will definitely return.Don't try to order a dry martini on ice unless you are prepared to be surprised. Most of the ladies in the lobby bar area have limited English. Also have difficulty when you order soda water.
We stayed at Adults only section which is a smaller section of the whole property. We had premium level reservations, oceanfront rooms - perfect. Clean, modern, good service. Rooms were cleaned twice a day. Cleaning ladies were very attentive- never left us out of anything: towels, toiletries, coffees, waters - everything was there. Food: Buffet - so so. French restaurant was great - we went twice (lamb was out of this world). Chez Gourmet was wonderful too. Italian "ok". Japanese hibachi Kyoto was ok. Beach is nice, but no beach umbrellas! Shade is from palm trees, which we did not mind, but just so you know.Gym is on the family resort side - nice, spacious, clean. Drinks were good, entertainment was good. Big disco club. Lots of stores to shop at. Local market near the property, where you can buy souvenirs cheaper, get cheap massage. Overall we enjoyed our 7 days stay. We will come back! Thank you and keep it up!
