Barcelo Bavaro Beach
- What's Included
- All Inclusive Features
Although listed as a 5, this hotel is probably closer to a 4 star. While there are many comparable 5 star resorts, the Barcelo Bavaro Beach still promises beautiful accommodations and boasts to have one of the most beautiful Oceanside views in the world. The Barcelo Bavaro Beach is a family friendly resort. However, there are options of staying in an adult exclusive area for those looking for quieter and more discreet scenery.
This resort was about what I expected for a resort in Punta Cana. It is close to the airport (less than 30 minute drive), which is great. Beach- is huge! The shoreline has to be almost one mile long all within the property, which is nice if you want to do a lot of walking in a safe spot. Just beyond the resort line was some local shopping, did not partake so cant comment, and also just beyond the resort is where you could leave on catamarans, jet skis that kind of thing. There is A LOT of action out in front of the resort, including the dolphin and some other kind of excursion out beyond in the waters, so just a lot of activity in general out in front. *Also no drink service on the beach, which would have been nice.Service- Not as great as some other Caribbean resorts we have been to. We are American and English speaking only so at our own disadvantage, some try to accommodate and some do not. Rooms- are pretty standard. We did try to request things- (3rd floor, away from pool/lobby area) in advance, which did not prove successful. When we got there nothing was available and we decided to wait (almost 3 hours...) for what we wanted, which I was ok with as we went to the buffett and drank in the mean time, but I know this would not please a lot of people if you are picky about special requests/room situations. On a positive note, the A/C was great! Pool- large, nice areas. We did not have to worry about a 'spot' for 6 of us at either the beach or pool during our week there. They did have good service, girls returning for drinks order around here (as there is no swim up bar on the adult side)Food- I thought was great...other than the fact that my husband and I were sick from it 5 out of 7 days. However we were the only 2 in our group of 6 so not sure what the deal was. I would recommend pro-biotics before if you can and bring plenty of pepto!-- That being said this is one of the reasons we will not return to the Dominican versus some of the other places we have been to and not been sick. You will want to make reservations as soon as you get there... I would def try both of the resorts on the adult side (La Brisa and la chez gourmet) and we did the steakhouse, La fuente, and Mexico lindo on the other side. All good, each place had their good and bad dishes, just depending on what you like. Entertainment- Was pretty good at night, as you had the option of the adult side and the Palace side. The Michael Jackson and Cirque shows were good, and we liked the pre-show karoke and variety shows almost more than some of the actual shows sometimes!Overall we had a great time with friends! A TON of walking, as everything is pretty spread out, so if you are looking for something smaller this would not be it. My only hesitation in booking this again would be the fact of how sick I seemed to be from something there!
This is a great resort with lots to do. I would stay here again. There was somewhat of a long line for check-in, but we received good service once it was our turn. A bellhop helped us to our room, which was in building 5. When we got to our room, our key didn't work. The bellhop let us in and offered to go fix the keys. We were very grateful for his assistance after a long day of travel. The room was spacious, with a very comfortable bed and a nice big patio. There was a mini bar that was restocked daily with 2 liters of water, soda, beer, and juice. Some small snacks (nuts and chips) were also provided in the room.Wow -- the beach was amazing. I've been to many beaches and Bavaro Beach is probably the most beautiful beach I have ever seen. The turquoise water was calm, and the sand was pure white. There were plenty of beach chairs. The pool on the adults only side was large and well-maintained. It would be much better with a swim up bar! However, there is a swim-up bar on the main property, which is a short walk away. The one thing this resort is missing are hot tubs! There are spa jet areas in the pool, but no hot tubs. There was so much to do on the property. Most of the entertainment is located on the main property. It's a short walk, or there is a trolly you can take. We spent our nights at the different bars, bowling alley, night club, and casino. There were several stores to visit as well, including a candy store! The dining was about what I expected. It was not the best food I've ever had. I'd say each meal was average. However, the quality of drinks at the bar was great! No nasty cheap stuff that gives you an awful headache. Overall - very impressed with this resort. I would certainly recommend it. The only reason I am not rating this place 5 stars is the average food and lack of hot tubs.
I traveled with 5 others and we had a great time. The grounds are beautiful and so is the beach. They do a nice job of cleaning the beach. There is a lot of seaweed, but they clean it every day. Never a problem getting chairs on the beach or around the pool for 6. The rooms are decent, nothing spectacular. They did not restock the beer on a regular basis, which was very disappointing but we managed to grab drinks at the bar before heading back to our rooms. The drinks were good, but not real strong...which is okay considering we drank all day long. Highly recommend the chocolate monkey and Sammy Sosa's! Now for the review of the food - Santa Fe - was good, service is extremely slow. Coral - the lobster was very blah and the service again was extremely slow!! La Chez - by far the best food and service! The buffets were average, nice variety. I encountered a few rude staff at the La Brisa, otherwise most of the staff were very pleasant!
Stayed here for 10 days and found it very nice to stay at. You have to book your meal times at all the restaurants as soon as you get there so you aren't disappointed , most of the restaurants are at the sister hotel next door but the train will take you there in 10 minutes, quality of food was very good at most places, avoid the restaurant at the golf course due to poor service and food quality as well. I'm not sure why they wouldn't have a swim up bar at the adult only side but they do have it at the sister hotel called the Palace where all the families are. There is no beverage service on the beach but that gave an excuse to get up and walk. One day our fridge never got restocked so called and asked for 4 beers and they said we are only allowed 2 per day and they only have warm beer, which at an all inclusive resort this was kind of dumb I thought. Some of the entertainment was very good and some so so with a lot of dancing girls. The staff were all very pleased to serve you all the time and the entertainment staff really made you feel very good about yourself. Daniel was the nicest and most active person of all the staff, I would say he could be the replacement for the host on Americas got talent.
I was very pleased with the beautiful resort right on the beach. The animation staff are incredible, especially Daniel, Spaghetti and Orlando! The staff are very accommodating and lots of fun. The facilities are great including casino, gym, spa etc.. I definitely recommend this resort.
