Our Opinion

A good resort in Punta Cana. This place is more suited for families with children. However, there are some quiet spots around the resort, making it a suitable place for couples as well. It should be noted that unless you're a platinum member, there are some amenities that might be missing from your stay. However, this does not take away from your experience. This a must-go place for those looking for a perfect beach and incredibly spacious rooms.

Nice hotel but not 5 star and not worth the money

We just returned from a 2 week stay at Bavaro Princess. Travelled 3 adults and 2 kids aged 1 and 4.First of all this place is gigantic. Have never seen a hotel this big and there is a big difference on which room you are given when it comes to distance to beach, restaurants etc. We got rooms 137 and 138 which was in a very nice location. They do run a gold cart bus service which works fine. The hotel in general is very worn down and calling this a 5 star hotel is close to hilarious.Check in/Check out - The reception staff was the rudest personnel i think i ever come across in any hotel worldwide. Never a smile. Every question asked seemed to be annoying. I think i encountered 5 different people during our stay and it amazed me the service standard was the same from all of them. I would def recommend management to change this as they are front runners when it comes to service.Rooms - The rooms are spacious with own jacuzzi. Really nice balcony and comfy beds (i dont mind hard beds). The room is worn down like the rest of the hotel but only real issue we had was the water pressure was very low and the water never really became hot for a shower.The cleaning all week was spotless and complete opposite to the reception staff the cleaning staff are so friendly and nice and go out of their way to help.Pools - We stayed the first few days at the kids pool with the pirate ship. It is really nice but very exposed to the wind and the water seems to be colder than the big pool.We moved to the big pool after a few days and stayed there since that pool is amazing. One of the most beautiful pools i have ever seen with palm trees surrounding all angles. It has a shallow area for kids. Unfortunately the kids area was also the area where all the circulation ended so all the waste etc all ended up in the kids area which at the end of the day was disgusting. When we complained about it nothing happened. They cleaned the pool every morning but more than once we had to ask them to do it again when we arrived to the pool as it was still filled with all kind of things. I might sound picky but we were a lot of families seeing it the same way.Restaurants - I am not a big all inclusive fan which the next lines will show so bear that in mind. In general i think the food was sad and without any taste. We had our first and only meal at the main buffet restaurant Hispaniola the first morning, I have never seen so many people together at the same place to eat and it was a bad experience. When you have to cook for so many people it is difficult to make it look appealing and it sure didnt. We found out later that day that there was also breakfast at the El Gaucho down by the beach. A lot smaller and especially if you arrive early like we did with the kids that buffet is the best you will see at this hotel.For lunch you can do either Hispaniola (which we never did), El Gaucho or the Mc Princess. Mc Princess serves fast food and is pretty tasty. The lunch buffet at El Gaucho has gazillions of people in a very small buffet making it a sad experience and the food was more or less the same every day.We never found a good option for lunch.For dinner you have several a la carte options.Japanese Restaurant - takes a long time but is a fun experience. Food is so so but a fun night out. If you go with kids make sure to be there when the open as it is a long night.El Gaucho - Steakhouse and our favorite. Good meat and good service.Bella Pasta - Italian and a very nice place to eat. Good selection and we liked especially the Risottos.Sakura - Asian restaurant with good selection and some real flavor to some of the dishes.Pescador - Fish restaurant. Very bad experience. Sad tasteless fish and all 3 of us had stomach issues the next day which of course could come from other things but seems unlikely since it was all of us.We heard about a lot of people having stomach issues while we were there. People seem to go crazy when they arrive to these buffets and dont understand the most basic hygiene fundamentals which i believe cause more people to get sick than the actual food. I did come across some of the chefs looking/swiping on their cell phoneswhile preparing food without washing hands before continuing to cook. That will never be a good idea either.Grounds - The grounds are in perfect condition. They were doing quite a bit of work while we were there so will only get better as time goes on.Bars - Nice selection. We are not in to a lot of alcohol but the things we had was very nice and tasty. Some good service in the bars especially Don Juan who made my sons holiday by serving his gallons and gallons of pineapple juice:)Fitness - Nice fitness room with plenty of space and pretty modern.Beach - Simply amazing. Powder white sand. Warm water. Fun waves to play in. A bit of seaweed every day but the staff had it cleaned up during the morning. Miles to walk in both directions.In general it is an OK hotel but would rank it as a 3 star hotel. The service from the personnel is a hit and miss. Some are fantastic and some are plain rude.Would i return to the Dominican Republic? Absolutely but would most likely try another hotel as especially the food didnt do the trick for me here.

Fabulous Family Vacation

We traveled to Bavaro Princess Resort from December 7-14th, 2017 with our 2 small children (ages 6 years old and 4 months old). And I must say, we had a great time on our first vacation as a family of 4!We splurged and went with the Platinum Suite....and if you can spare the extra couple of hundred dollars, please do! As soon as we arrived at the resort, we were asked if we were Platinum guests - and as soon as we said yes, we were whisked away to our own Platinum reception. They took care of the luggage for us. At the Platinum reception area, we were checked in quickly. Our concierge explained everything to us, gave us a map and showed us places to go on the map. From there, we went to our room, which was right across from the reception area.The room was very large and perfect for our family. I asked beforehand for a crib, and it was already there and waiting for us in the room. The room was clean and a perfect temperature. There were a few minor cosmetic issues (like a few cracked tiles), but we aren't the picky type. We are there to relax on vacation, not nitpick at a cracked tile. We even had a view of the ocean (a sliver, but a view is a view!). The grounds at Bavaro are beautiful. Lush, palm trees everywhere. Well maintained and cared for. They are still renovating because of Hurricane Maria, but it bothered us none. Restaurants - the main buffet is wonderful and has a ton of selection. We ate here most breakfasts and 2 dinners. No complaints at all! Something for everyone. We also ate at 4 of the a la cartes - El Gaucho, El Pescador, Bella Pasta, and Tanuki. Each restaurant was wonderful. The staff were kind and courteous, and food was right on par. Our favourite was Bella Pasta and El Pescador. During the day, El Gaucho is also a buffet at breakfast and lunch. We ate breakfast there a few times - it is smaller than the main buffet but still good. And close to the beach!The pool is well maintained and cared for. It is quite busy though, so it's a pain to find chairs during the day. However, we were there for the beach and it was where we spent most of our time. And last but not least - the beach. Oh the is beautiful. The sand is soft and white. Water is gorgeous and blue. Since we were Platinum guests, we had a special roped off area and cushioned day beds. There was always room at the beach. Daybeds were comfy. And the waiters for the Platinum bar were friendly and efficient. Overall, it was a great family vacation. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves as a family and enjoyed the wonderful resort. I recommend it to anyone visiting Punta Cana! Thank you to everyone for making our week a happy and wonderful time.

poor 5 stars ever stayed here

poor room, leaking celing like shower;poor food, don;t know how to cook lobsters, poor activaties, nice beach but always big wave all days, can walk only, no swim enjoy.poor environment, at resort center has waste water pool there, you smell to vomit out.very poor service and management; room clean, 7 days, 5-6 time problems, keys, battle waters, leaking, etc..can again. staffs no smiling and greating to you, waiters no certain tables responsed to, who shall tip to, don't know. evening show poor and less maintain equipments, 9;30 open,till 10;30 still repairing.... no polit and no respect clients, when claims, the manager only ask and hear staff in their language, AND WHEN I SAID, IT WILL BE OUR ONLY TIME CAME HERE, THE MANAGER SAID ;THANK GOD. IN GOOD ENGLISH. So, above is our 5 people experience in Dominique recently

Excellent resort!

Arrived back after 10 days. What to sayResort beautiful, very spacious and well kept. Good shuttle service day and night, every few minutesFood, possibly the best all/inc menu I have experienced in the main restaurant plus 5/6 other restaurants to choose from. Great steaks most night, lots of variety bread/pastry section very good.Staff. All friendly and hard working.Pools. One near the beach with music, also a quiet pool which was a nice idea.Beach. Beautiful, safe but some nice wave action.Bar. Good range of cocktails,not diluted as in some resorts.Great holiday. Can’t really find any faults,oh all right just one,why do they chill the red wine, it should be room temperature.Managment take note.One thing to be aware of. If you book with TUI you will not be given a balcony rm despite their promises, they insist on H/S grounds all their customers are on the gr floor,we, and others complained but the hotel have no choice but to insist but that is a complaint with TIU not the resort.Otherwise great holidayLook out for the resident. Great place to relax and amazing staff .

Large resort and good selection of restaurants with great staff .We had a great holiday where nothing was to much for the staff from the animation team in special Julio , from bars team Rafael , Melvin , Don Juan , Carlos , Dulce .The hotel offers a great variety of food and drinks with plenty to choose the rooms are nice and clean with jacuzzi ideally for couples or families and friends .Good value for the money.
