Our OpinionThe BELIVE Grand Punta Cana is a solid resort for couples who are looking for a quiet and relaxing time in the Dominican Republic. The food items available are OK. Make sure to check out the Mexican, Gourmet, and Japanese a la cartes. Be sure to make reservations early in your stay. The beach is OK. While there are a few spots riddled with seaweed, there are more suitable spots a few minutes walk away. There are plenty of loungers available near the private beach area. However, make sure to reserve a spot early as it tends to get relatively busy throughout the day. OK entertainment during the day. The shows during the evening are a bit more entertaining. For those looking for a relaxing and quiet time in the Dominican Republic, this is a great choice.
Check in slow since they try to make you upgrade to vip room or vip services. Our first night was in a room with loud air conditioning, door like paper thin and at stair ware,so you wake up a few times when late party people came back, 2am 4am and morning cleaning ladies, the cleaning room is right beside my room. After back and forward 4 hours next day to request change a room, we were arranged in building 2 which is quite and renovated. Then the room is all good. When we book the resort we don't know then received an email saying they need work on their main pool so we cannot use it and there are 8 other pools available. Which is kind of lying. The hotel has VIPs zone, two clean pools only for vip people, there are few small pools on the very right side of hotel you don't have direct access to beach, beside, those pools look green and dirty, I cannot see through 1 foot from surface, however the vip pool is clear water to see through to the bottom. That caused most people goes to beach, the hotel has small beach front, again, two areas of beach are assigned to vip leaving few available bench for non VIPs . Every morning it is hard to find a chair on beach, plus there are some cousin bed on non vip area you have to pay 10 dollar a day to use!. Internet is free one hour a day at main bar, sometime too many people the you cannot log on, safe box only available $3/day.Food in buffet is eatable but always same, they use left overs from restaurant or last meal, so somwtime they are not fresh.Restaurants are good Mediterranean, ok Brazil, steak house skirt steak good, flush Japanese, we waited long time to find out they forgot our order and sent wrong one, anywAy, not tasty and tiny. Lobster house need pay for Lobster, so we did not go, maxi an is ok.it is best you reserve for a few days ahead or you might not get in.The diving centre is terrible, we booked a tour saying four hours boat to watch dorphones ang snorkling and to a nice beach, it end up just passing by dorphones pool by distant, and stopped somewhere not far from beach for snorkling where you only see a few normal fish you can see in any lake. The they took you to a shallow area to take pictures, the boat is poor and very basic, and no English Guide, the they came back in 2.5 hours. Asking you pay extra $15 for few pictures they took for you, I bugained since I m not happy withe tour, agreed to pay $10 for the picture cd, the I paid money only got nothing after three days back and forforward to talk to them, the photo person hD some issues with them, end up he is not come back! Before I leave I got $10 back, very disPointed. Don't go with them! The best part of hotel is free internet no time limit on the side lobby and the gym beside it. It is pretty modern we used a few times. There is subtle tour to th mall we went and shopped only to find there is no advantage than airport. Those vendors in night market and out side hotel can mark up a lot. I asked a pice of jewelry they said 85 eventually offer $15. Cigar is cheaper in air port.
We got a very, VERY good price on this hotel. We did not find the service here to be that great, we found many people unwilling to help us because we did not speak Spanish. The room was very nice and clean, the pools were very nice. Food was good and there were a lot of options. The buffet was actually quite good! The beach is very nice. There is a LOT of sea weed on the beach but the staff work very hard to clear it and it seemed to be gone by the afternoon. Would definitely suggest going here!
We purchased this as a all inclusive and the resort was a "surprise", we have stayed in Mexico at resorts that made us welcome and were great this however was not the same. The room was clean, fridge did not work but after 2 days we got a new one. The grounds were pretty, there are a lot of pools in a small space so it was very well planned. The front desk people , well there could be 5 working but only 1 could answer your questions and then it was usually not the right answer, they acted like we were bothering them and never gave us attention. The food was average at best, and the drinks, even soda were so watered down that you were better with water. The day before we left they closed the main pool to start some much needed renovations on it. The last full day we were there we lost water for 10 hours!!! They acted like it was not a big deal and never informed you about the situation, I just expected more and we by no means are "high maintenance" people. The water had seaweed to go through but it was nice but a few resorts up the water was the BLUE that you want, where we stayed it was not so much.
We had a great time at this resort. My wife and I 2nd anniversary. Everyone was wonderful. The staff went the extra mile to make sure your stay was the best it could be. There are different pools, and a big beach. The food was outstanding. All of the staff gave 100% to keep things enjoyable and relaxing. Thank you so much to Carmolo, Elvin, Pedro, Mr. Martinez, and Carmen. Excellent customer service. We will be back.
This place is a deal. I mean its not the best, but definitely not the worst. The place could use some fixin, like the bottom of the pool. My room was open door to the beach. I loved the beach here. Peaceful in the mornings. Overall this was well worth the money spent.
