Our OpinionThe BELIVE Grand Punta Cana is a solid resort for couples who are looking for a quiet and relaxing time in the Dominican Republic. The food items available are OK. Make sure to check out the Mexican, Gourmet, and Japanese a la cartes. Be sure to make reservations early in your stay. The beach is OK. While there are a few spots riddled with seaweed, there are more suitable spots a few minutes walk away. There are plenty of loungers available near the private beach area. However, make sure to reserve a spot early as it tends to get relatively busy throughout the day. OK entertainment during the day. The shows during the evening are a bit more entertaining. For those looking for a relaxing and quiet time in the Dominican Republic, this is a great choice.
We are here right now and I will tell you what's what. We had a private check in which was kind of nice as we had read check in took a long time. We showed us the V.I.P area which we had upgraded to. We booked swim up rooms and they tried to place us on the 4th floor! With a group of five only one of the people got swim up room. Upon checkin They tried to put us in a room that someone else was already in, so with some phone calling he finally said "oops I made a mistake and your on the first floor" and took us to our room, with still one couple remaining on the 4th with promises to be moved down the main the next day. I'm going to let you know that if you are staying in the swim up, they are all on block 16, which are at the completely other side of the V.I.P perks and the last block on the resort. Far from everything. The people across from us at the swim up, paid regular price, and are staying in swim up, where we upgraded 300 per person to upgrade to swim up when we booked back in December. Block 7 is yet ANOTHER upgrade of 65 dollars per night per person. Block 7 is right beside the V.I.P lounge, and is an adults only section. (Which is what we thought we had, but they said we had to pay extra, so we didn't move). The pool outside our swim up was dirty all the time. I seen someone clean it one morning and that's it. We would wake up to tables thrown in the water and napkins floating around. Leaves everywhere. The resort itself is okay. Not the cleanest resort but not the dirtiest either. The main pool is filled with ocean water and is absolutely disgusting. It's merky and green and i never seen it cleaned out once. When we swam in there we seen cups floating around and and leaves and nails on the concrete. The water stinks and the pool is just absolutely disgusting and slimy. Food was great overall. Nothing I didn't like, our whole group thought it as awesome. Just some tips is that, the steakhouse although has free items, also has things that cost money. Lobster house is extra money. Any a la cartes only serve beer and wine. The staff in the hamburger place were very rude. If you ordered more than two things they looked at you like you were fat and gross. The Japanese a la carte was by far the best, we were put at the chef table and they cook it all in front of you. Food was amazing and entertainment was awesome too. Their is a sweets corner in the lobby that cost money. Although it is the same coffee you can get anywhere else for free at the resort, it does cost at that sweets corner. A bottle of suntan lotion is 24.99 USD. A box of tampons is 12.99 usd just to give you an idea on how crazy the duty shops are. As for staff. Some are friendly, lots aren't. They don't move fast and they don't care. I always waited about 15 minutes to get coffee on the morning. The women have Zero facial expressions and are the least thing from friendly. Bars were packed with spring breakers and it was impossible to get a drink. The beach is amazing and clean. One thing I will say is that if you upgraded to V.I.P just be aware that on the beach there are two areas for VIP. One with a black banner is the nicer of the two. This area is not part of the package you need to pay extra to be apart of that. Also I must say. The bar tenders are snail slow. They offer mojitos on the bar menu but when asked for one they say they don't have that. This was a daily struggle to find one. They would say no lime or no mint. It got ridiculous. Overall this resort is a solid 3 star resort. Nothing more. It's not clean and well taken care of. We rarely seen people put cleaning the grounds or the pool. We would never come back and would never recommend this resort to anyone else. Nothing more than 3 stars for this place. With our VIP we had 24 hr room service and we call just to get hung up on. We were supposed to have a VIP banner on our room upon arrival and nothing. This resort is beyond disappointing. The worst part of this all is the fact we are on our honeymoon and are in the swim up area where they have also placed a ton of spring breakers! How ridiculous!! Spring breakers were flooding this resort. We weren't to impressed when we paid to upgrade to a swim up area which was supposed to be quieter and more relaxing and then they moved spring breakers onto the second third and fourth level and they were shouting back and forth at each other until 4 am. It was ridiculous! How do you place them with people who have paid to upgrade their rooms?? They should have all been put in one area not spread out everywhere. They should have never been moved into that area especially paying normal price, they would be parting in front of our swim up every night. It was ridiculous. Johnathon was our butler and I must say, he is too good for this place. He should be at a 5 star resort. He was amazing!
We stayed here for a week in March and had a very nice time. The food was good with lots of options. There were three ala cartes. The Brazilian one was the only one worth visiting. The staff was very friendly, if a bit over worked. Don't go her if you are expecting a five star but if you have reasonable expectations you have a very nice holiday.
Vacation very good. Entertainment every day, the team work very hard. Spaghetti and mini me are the best. Beautiful pool, foam party was fun and also had beach party. The bars and restaurants were open all the time for lots of food and drink! The evening entertainment was good - especially Michael Jackson show and the Magician show. The room is very clean and big. Food every day different.
I had the best time here. This resort had really yummy food in the buffet and the japanese restaurant. I loved the spaghetti, the breakfast omelettes, and the desserts. The drinks were great - ask for the country's rum which is mamajuana - absolutely delicious (like a jack with honey version of rum)! I don't know why others wrote bad reviews because if you're a middle class person and are looking to relax, eat, drink and have a good time - this is for you...especially if you're easy to please! I needed a vacation from my hectic life (balancing long commute for work and school and having 18 hour days) and this was the answer for me! The entertainment was really enjoyable...I really loved the games the staff played and appreciated their high energy! I died laughing almost every night because the host is just so hilarious (especially with his mini-me). The pool was decent and the bar tenders were pretty efficient! Housekeeping also cleaned the rooms nicely. We were very scared about the whole zika scare and we bought DEETs bracelets and sprays. The resort does a really nice job in keeping it clean and I am sure they are aware that they need to keep it clean as tourism is probably one of the prime ways for the country to make money. We were also scared that this place would be filled with undergrads drinking and puking their brains out but were surprised to see this had a lot of families and couples as well. Only complaints would be to avoid the harassment from the Lifestyle Holiday Vacation Club. They are everywhere in the resort and really should be booted. It was annoying to waste an hour with them. One tip would be to add more sauces to the mexican food and make the portions larger for Mylos. Wifi was spotty at night when everyone wanted to use it. I would suggest using it mid-day by the pool. Also, we used Nexus travels to book our excursions and they were also a whole lot of fun! Cocobongo was surprisingly so much fun - a vegas style acrobatics night clubs. We also did swimming with stingrays and sharks on a booze cruise and that was also surprisingly fun (because I was scared initially).
I spent three days at this hotel and my experience was amazing, thanks to the wonderful staff especially Perla Rodriguez from the VIP section, she was very nice. she also went above and beyond to make sure my stay was very comfortable. Im looking forward to visit again soon and I'll be staying at this hotel.
