Well the it was the first time in the Domincan and prob the last. Love to hear waves crash and those were out prob half a mile from the beach. The food was horrible and drinks were the same. Couldnt wait to get on plane and have a decent drink.
Recently just got back from our 5 day stay here and it was great! This was our first time at an all-inclusive resort and we were very impressed. We stayed in the exclusive suite w/ swimming pool, which was definitely worth the extra money. We were also very lucky to have our room (#3404) right across from the pool and near the beach. The room was very clean and spacious. House keeping did an excellent job with always providing us with fresh towels and bringing us extra waters/beers when we needed it.As for the food, it was decent. I didn't have high expectations being that it was all-inclusive. We tried out several of the places:Thalassa - came here for dinner on the first night. Had the onion soup and fish, it was okay. The service was wonderful though! The waiters were constantly filling up our waters and wine. They also gave us two special Dominican shots at the end of our meal. One of them was passion fruit and not sure on the other but it had a hint of cinnamon. Also dined here for breakfast, which was a buffet.Cata Tapa - our favorite restaurant at the resort. We liked it so much we came here twice for dinner! Very romantic and the tapas were delicious. Sea blue - came here often for drinks while we were laying out by the pool. The bartenders are really friendly and attentive! Great spot for a midday snack.Yuka - I was excited to check this place out since they serve Caribbean food but I ended up being really disappointed. It could have been because I ordered the pork, which was extremely overcooked and too tough to eat. The coconut shrimp was tasty though.La Palapa - great location, right by the beach. Buffet-style. Loved the huge skillet of paella!Sorrento - special shout out to OMAR! He has great energy and definitely knows how to entertain. We came back twice just for him. He makes a great mojito (or four) and the pizzas were good.Tao cat - I wasn't too impressed. We ordered the spring rolls, tom kha gai, panang, and pad Thai. Didn't taste anything like Thai food at all but was still edible.Gran Caribe - the international buffet. Came here for breakfast and lunch. So many different types of food to choose from! Probably the 2nd favorite place we ate at. Beautiful view as well, loved seeing the flamingos.La Toscana - I can see the appeal of this Italian restaurant but it just didn't do it for me. Ordered the spinach cannelloni w/ pesto sauce and it was very bland. There is also 24 hour room service, which we ended up ordering a few times. The food came pretty fast. Overall, I was very pleased with our stay here. We actually ended up staying at the resort the whole time we were there, which wasn't our original plan. There's definitely more than enough to do there to keep yourself entertained. There are also activities during the day/evening including pilates and tropical dancing. All the staffs were lovely and friendly. My only complaint would be the wifi was slow but it wasn't that big of an issue since we were there to relax. Very enjoyable place, I would definitely stay here again.
The room was very nice but as far as outside of the room the family side was much prettier. Most of the food options were on the family side as well as any activities and shows. The adult side was for only laying at the pool or beach and doing pool workouts if you chose. You need to offer some entertainment and activities for your adults as well as just the families. Do not understand why things such as beer drinking contest and such were held on family side and not adult side. Keep children and families that do not pay the extra for the stay out of the adults only resort.
Good things: Very nice beach, nice and clean swiming pools, very very good food (pleanty of choice) , good quality drinks , big rooms, large and confortable bed!!!! Good staff ! Nice set up and service in the restaurants! Bad things: very very loud aircon ( maby just in our room) , bad sea ( A lot sea grass and water more Grey than blue) English debit or credit cards are not excepted in hotels cash points! Later we found out that they are not excepted anywhere else in Dominic Republic too! You can pay in the shop or to use service and put on to your room but no cash! Spa is extremely overpriced for what they do. To order taxi from hotel is much more expensive than to book it with somebody else. We stayed in adults only side royal and I'm very happy about that. If you stay in adults only side still you can use family side restaurants and facilities if u want, if u stay in family side u can't go to adult only side. I did like it because adult side is much more relaxing with much less people with much better service and drinks (wine) quality and if you get bored you can go to another side where it's busy! In general hotel is good with very very good food as all inclusive resort. We travel a lot and in this resort we had best all inclusive!! We stayed for 2 weeks and still didn't get bored with the food!!! ( a bit strange that juice served for breakfast are bad , a lot choice but taste bad, because rest of food and drinks brilliant )
Dear tripadvisor readers and travelers , first thing to know : flying Air France to Punta Cana from Paris was one of the worse experience for me and my wife . Try to imagine 514 pasengers compressed in a Boeing 777 300 ER from the first generation . Poor meal ( one dinner and half brunch before landing ), malfunctioning screens , A/C blowing cold air , etc. A positive remark for the all crew members , trying to help but we were so many and they were quite a few .....Fortunately arriving at the hotel and uncomfortable plane forgot. Our 8 days ( including New Year Eve ) were great.I'll start first thanking to all employees of Royal Bavaro Adults Only Hotel for their dedication to the job. Sand very clean , thin like the wheat flour. Sunbeds very generous , 2 bars ( one is a cocktails the other is preparing in the front of you delicious fresh juices ( about 8 kind of ) .Changing beachtowels against cards near to sunbeds area.Plenty of beverages, silence, enjoyable time .-OCEAN mark : 7 Water depth about 1.5 meters , bottom full of seaherbs, you have to swimm further ( 100 meters) not reaching it .- Fountains mark 10 All the way to the beach ( from the main building ) fountains are aside you .
