Let me first start with how great Jose was. Super fun guy with the activities and events. I was not sure what to expect with an all inclusive resort, but was quite satisfied with the experience. This was our 25th anniversary so I wanted to do something special for my wife and overall had a great time. Service... Very good, She staff was very polite and seemed to be concerned with the guests having a good experience. The bartenders and wait staff were always on top of things making sure to get your drinks to you as quickly as possible. Great job to Alba at the Palapa bar, so much fun.Room... We were in the 46 block on the 3rd floor. The room was excellent and well maintained. Housekeeping did a great job of making sure there was a little something special done to the room every day. Flowers or towel origami made it interesting to come back to. Sure we left a little tip for house keeping, which I am sure they appreciate. I appreciate good housekeeping.Location.... Very beautiful setting with the grounds being well taken care of. Even though we were in the furthest building from the beach, the walk was not far and it was always nice to walk through the vision that is Royal Bavaro. The 9 hole golf course was very beautiful and well maintained. Impressive as the constant heat and humidity would make that quite a challenge. What did I like the best?..... The setting was beautiful, The staff was great (Jose and Alba especially), The room was clean and comfortable. What did like least?.... The beach.. Don't get me wrong, the white sand and clear water was awesome, but the vegetation that washed up constantly was not attractive. I don't know if it was just the time of year but still not appealing. They tried to keep it clean but seemed a loosing battle. Finally... The food... Cata Capa was a very good meal, Sushi at the beach bar was excellent, Payalla on the beach was great, Breakfast at thalassa was good, Japanese restaurant was very good ( I don't remember the name). All of the rest were mediocre at best. Time Share issue... Although at the Royal Bavaro there was nobody asking for your time to talk about the time share option, when we waled through the sister resort they did seem like vultures hovering ready to pounce if you looked their way.Summary..... If you are looking to relax and lounge in the sun with a stunning setting I highly recommend the Catalonia Royal Bavaro.
We stayed for 10 days in Catalonia Royal Bavaro. We fell in love with this place, it is amazing and magnificent. The restaurants are great, food was delicious, room service was great, rooms were clean and beautiful. We stayed at the adult side and we really enjoyed it. The people are just amazing and caring, funny and friendly. We want to thank Miladis for being the best bartender and soulmate we met. She is the sweetest person we know! At sea blue restaurant we met Beatriz, she was very sweet and helpful, always smiling. While on the beach we were always entertained by Alexander, he gave us a few Spanish lessons and always made us smile. The funniest person we met was Jose. He is absolutely the funniest and goofiest person, but knows how to organize and entertain absolutely everyone. Everybody made us feel welcome and important. We will be coming back to this place for sure. Best time ever.
We stayed for 7 nights in early July. Arrived on a Thursday, which was a busy day to arrive. There were 3 couples who arrived for the "privilege" check in at the same time, so we had an incredibly awkward group check in process. Once we were in our room (Jr Suite in villa 38), it was nice, clean and comfortable. The AC and water pressure were great, contrary to other reviews. We had excellent wifi connection throughout the facility. Complementary bottle of champagne for our anniversary. We did meet with the "concierge" right away, but thanks to TA, we knew to turn down the breakfast and move on. Thanks :) Salespeople did keep pestering us for a few days, but by Sunday, it had stopped. The food was good, but the service was incredibly slow. We enjoyed the Tapas and Japanese restaurant the most. We did not try the Italian or Vegetarian restaurants. Steakhouse was OK.Bar service was as expected. Slow, but decent drinks at all locations. Bring your own tervis or bubba cup for fewer trips to the bar. Pool bar could get rowdy in the afternoons. We upgraded to a private villa/pool for our last three nights. It was well worth the cost. It was huge and the pool was much larger than we thought. We were close to the SeaBlue bar and were able to either hop out or ask a server for drinks. We did see a few bugs in our room and pool. Some older fixtures that could use an update or two. Overall it was fun, enjoyable trip. I would recommend.
I can't tell people enough what an INCREDIBLE time I had at this resort. Firstly, the resort is a perfect size. The actual adults only side is very accessible, you can get from one side to the other in a small amount of time and as someone who has trouble walking long distances, this was a life saver! However, if you like walking a lot or exploring the resort you're staying at, the bigger Catalonia central resort right beside it is a 30 second walk away so you always had the option of walking around there and then returning to the quiet, peaceful adults-only side.Next, the food! I honestly did not have a single bad meal here. I was impressed over and over again with the food selection, taste, and service. I can't even think of my favourite restaurant because they were all so lovely. The plus side too is that you can go to any of the other restaurants in the central resort. (Although we barely did because those had lines and children haha!)The pools were fantastic. The infinity pool was very peaceful and the pool closer to the lobby was always a good time. Plus, they had the cutest lounge areas with retractable roofs! I found that they usually had a good amount of these available too which was nice. The beach was great! This I guess would be my only critique and its not even the resort's fault. It may have been the time I went but there was quite a bit of seaweed in the water. Honestly this didn't bug me at all and you could definitely still swim but thats seriously the only "bad" thing about this place. The juice bar on the beach was delightful! The bar was beautiful too but nothing beats fresh smoothies as you lounge on the beach. The room was gorgeous and well kept, plus every terrace had a personal hammock which I loved. I'm surprised people didn't take more advantage of them. This resort was super close to the airport so no long, uncomfortable bus rides. There's also a super cute market place a in between both the Catalonia resorts with tons of shops and the cutest little cafe! We also went the casino a few times which was always a great time. Oh! And one more thing, in some areas of the resort like the restaurants or bars you'd hear the most graceful, relaxing music. I felt this as worth mentioning because it made you literally feel like you were in paradise, great work on the music choices!Overall, this was the most relaxing vacation and I would go back in a heartbeat!
My husband and I had a truly fabulous vacation to celebrate by birthday. Thank you to everyone of your staff...from the Reception, Housekeeping, Waiters/waitresses, Bartender/servers. Spa staff, etc. I would highly recommend this Resort to all my family and friends. I am so happy we choose this Resort over all so many Resorts in Punta Cana! We truly had a fun, relaxing and enjoyable vacation birthday celebration! This was our first time in Punta Cana and we are so pleased we stayed here!
