Arrived at reception to be treated to a nice refreshing cocktail. Room was huge - and kept spotlessly clean by the maids (we did have to ask for extra coffee a couple of times but they were so obliging and nothing was a bother to them) - all the little touches like the flowers every day was a nice thought. (The only thing I would have liked would have been to have a full length mirror in our room - lots of other people I spoke to seemed to have one but not our room??)We couldn't fault the food in any of the restaurants (for either breakfast, lunch or dinner) and we used them all on the Royal side. Ate in the sister hotel and had drinks there too - again could not fault the service or standard of food.Absolutely loved the Maloo juice bar and were always greeted with a warm welcoming smile.I think the ONLY grumpy person we came across in the whole two weeks was the towel man down at the beach!! We spent days either on the beach or by the quieter infinity pool (which was kept extremely clean) Unfortunately the weather was not kind to us at all - but that is no-ones fault and we made the most of what sunshine we had.We did unfortunately get duped by one of the salesman at reception (we sadly didn't know any better - but do now!) and the following day got taken along to the "exclusive beach club" next door (which I may add was completely deserted and we were the ONLY two there!) - the minute we got there we "clicked" and we just upped and promptly left (politely but firmly of course) and just strolled back along the beach - thereafter we were on our guard and just said no every time they approached us (you live and learn!!)Wi-Fi could be patchy at times. ALL the staff work tirelessly, and the grounds are kept immaculate by the gardeners - every single member of staff you pass always said "Hola" and smiled as they went by.We would most definitely return (and hopefully see a lot more sunshine).
I 100 % NOT Recommend this resort to anyone. The sale pitch from time you arrive until the time you leave by Executive Concierge is ridiculous. At least six time a day we were approached by them trying to sell there vacation club. Even if you tell them nicely that your not interested they continue or become rude. The security or privacy lock was broken on our door and we couldn't get it fixed, even after several requests nothing was done. We asked for some extra pillows and it only several requests and three day to get them. The room Had signs of water damage and a funky smell. The beach was dirty with sea weed and not well kept. Once a day one man would come and clean it up in the late afternoon. The wait staff and bartenders were very good. The food is good but nothing outstanding. The grounds are very pretty and well maintained. Except the walk ways being washed out or covered when it rained. Plan on walking bare foot or with wet muddy shoe most of the time. The whirlpool was dirty and need of repair, the other one was totally broken. I Guess the biggest turn off of this resort was the hard sell of the vacation club. I paid for this vacation and did not receive and discounts or special offers to come stay there. The harassment from the Executive Concierge is enough to ruin your vacation. You cant walk anywhere near them without them approaching you. I was there to relax not argue with salesmen about there vacation club.
Pros: The Resort is wonderful with a lot of choices of restaurants and drinks. The beach island the pools are amazing and service is very good.Cons: Wifi is poor and staff will tirelessly try to sell
The hotel is nice and clean, the room was great. The staff was excellent, polite and helpfull except for the towel booth. The restaurants on the Royal side were great, we specially liked the Tapas restaurant. The Italian we tried on the regular Catalonia was more than ordinary and the Japanese was ok. The pools were a little small but not a big deal. The beach was nice, lots of chairs and shade, the water wasn't as clean as it should have been but they had bad weather for 5 days and at the end of our stay it was much better.
We always prefer the smaller 'adult' resort and this was no exception. We had upgraded room and the concierge staff were friendly and helpful. The resort layout is lovely, nice pools and beach. Food was mostly very good and the service was above average.
