We had a wonderful time on our Oct 16-23 vacation. Hotel staff friendly and courteous. Restaurants to and buffets were all fantastic. Room very nice and clean. Air conditioner a little loud. Wish they served drinks with ginger ale and not sprite. Weather was good except for one day. All in all a wonderful trip. I would highly recommend this resort.
When we arrived at CHIC by Royalton, we quickly realized our travel agent sent us to the WRONG resort. It was supposed to be the Royalton in DR but not this one. The resort itself honestly didn't have much to offer especially since I have dietary restrictions (which is why we were aiming for a resort with more restaurants). So we tried to make the best of it, enjoy the pools, socialize and enjoy the break. Gabriel who was part of the entertainment staff was very kind to us. His energy and personality truly helped us have a good time! We went over a year ago and we're still quoting him saying "Oh my goodness!!!". He kept us company at times making sure we were participating and enjoying ourselves. Elijio was a bartender who also helped us have a good time. He made sure our glasses were full and our faces had a smile. Also, our concierge Richard was awesome! He was the friendliest person there. He made sure everything was good in our room and that we knew what was available to us. They all provided the best customer service while just being genuinely themselves. If we had not crossed paths with these guys the trip would have been a total bust. Thank you guys for making sure we could make the best of the resort and for permanently being a part of our first wedding anniversary! (it was actually July 2015, I know I'm a little late!)
Great stay, loved the beach area, buffet looks out to ocean which is gorgeous. Really hated the cheap perfume in the lobby ventilation system. The bar in between the restaurants is awesome, best drinks. Thanks to Bradenton for not pressuring us, being real chill. And a special shout out to our good friend Edwin Ramirez, with the best cigars on the beach.
The resort was very nice.We stayed in the luxury junior suite in builiding 9, but not the Diamond Club. Rooms were amazing and concierge, Fritz made it even more amazing! The food was great, especially the steakhouse and the Sushi. The spa was AMAZING! The majority of the staff went above and beyond. We stayed for 7 days. Everything was great until day 6. We left at 8am for the beach and returned at 3:30 to get credit card to do check in online for luggage. When I went to open safe, it was already open. I had all my large bills in safe when I had left at 8am (this was double checked because the night before a friend gave me some cash for excursions that were charged to my room and I added it to my large bills in left back corner of safe). Someone had taken $850. I immediately called guest services. They sent security to take report and search every inch of my room. I was more than happy to let them as they seemed to think, maybe I misplaced it (i knew I hadn't). They said to allow 24 to 72 hours for investigation. Next morning at 10:30, they called me to come to guest services for results. They said maid entered room 3 times. She was questioned and released as they believed she did not take it and they did not find the money on her. They also told me I kept forgetting my safe code and that was a problem. I never FORGOT my safe code. I used a very well known code everytime. I did have to have them come reset the safe the as soon as we got there because it would not open after the first time I closed it. I also had to have them open it and reset it after I locked it immediately after I saw money was gone. They had to reset it with their master key 3 times, as it was not accepting the same code. This was due to a problem with the safe each time. I never "forgot" my code as they told me at least 10 times. We were leaving for airport in 1 1/2 hours and still packing. I asked the 3 people that were meeting with me if I could have copy of the report of safe and room entries. I knew there was nothing more they were willing to do and thought maybe when I got back to the states it would help when I tried to contact manager, check with insurance, etc. They refused to give me copies, saying it was for internal use only. They told me the manager refused to give it to me. Yet, they were not willing to even give me the managers name. I honestly don't think they even spoke to a manager. "Caren" told me as I asked for her name, the other two people names (one being Hugo I later found out) and managers name, that all I needed to know was her name. She stuck her name tag in my face 3 seperate times with an attitude spelling out C A R E N....that is all you need to know. She was extremely rude and refused to give me a pen and paper to write anything down as well. I was very upset that my money was stolen, but even more upset as to the way I was treated. I do understand there are probably many people that misplace things and think they were stolen. But there is no doubt and I know for a fact my $850 was stolen between 8am and 3:30pm. My husband was only person that had access to room and he was with me the entire time, Their report even showed the maid entered 3 times. The way she spoke to me was unacceptable. If you would of asked me the first 5 days....I would say I would be back no doubt. After my money was taken...It was questionable. After my experience with security and especially CAREN...I would say NEVER again. I have tried to contact upper management, corporate, but just getting the run around on correct person to talk to. I am thankful as whoever took my $850, left me a little bit of cash ($250) and did not get any of my jewelry that was in safe or my passport. I do wish they would of had a hot tub somewhere on premises other than the spa. Other than the 3 people from security, Caren from guest relations and the maid that took my money, everyone else that works there were great!!
My wife and I stayed at Chic a few weeks ago and it was the best decision and the other was using bookit.com. We used them for our reservations for the resort and out transportation from and to the airport. They were so helpful. Now wait until you get to the resort to make any excursion reservations. Our connection for our reservations was also through book it. He was awesome. We went on the Mini Cooper Tour the full day one. They also have a half day. When on the tour we had lunch on the beach and ended the day with a Boat trip to a sand bar out in the ocean. It was awesome. I would recommend Chic.
