My wife and I celebrated our honeymoon at CHIC and had a perfect time!Everything at the resort was fantastic, the service was terrific, and the entertainment and dancing were a blast! Great food and great drinks too!
Greeted by warm and friendly staff. Checkout was easy and swift. We were taken straight to our luxury room which was funky, spotless and comfortable. The drinks service by the pool was amazing. Our waitress Yulia was always smiling and constantly made sure that we had a drink in our hand.We had delicious omelette every morning which is cooked to order by chef Wendi who again was always smiling and friendly. All the restaurants served good quality food including fresh fish and meats cooked to order. The entertainment was great with something happening everyday and night from beach parties and live music to circus performances and dj's.All in all the hotel is amazing and we would go back in a heart beat.
I stayed at CHIC for one week March 11-18. I chose this resort because I was looking for a modern resort with new rooms and amenities. I have been to Punta Cana many times and this was, by far, the best resort I have stayed at. It is a small resort, literally a 3 minute walk to anywhere. The rooms are new, modern and clean. We had a couple of minor issues when we first entered the room (the safe wouldn't lock and the sliding closet door was off the track) but those two issues were fixed in less than 5 minutes and we received a courtesy call a few minutes later to ensure that we were satisfied with the work. I have never experience that before. The same thing happened when we requested extra towels. They arrived in minutes and a call to confirm that we got them! It was great.I can't say enough about the staff. Every one of them was friendly and courteous. When I would say thank you, they always responded, "its my pleasure". They went out of their way to make our stay fantastic. There was waiter service at the pool and at the beach, and the waitresses came by often and often remembered our drink orders and usually had bottled water handy. The food was really good. I am a VERY picky eater and I always have problems finding foods that I like, especially at buffets. But at Chic, the buffet was very good. It was a little small, compared to the big resorts, but I found the quality much better. The food that was missing seemed to be the "fillers" that nobody eats anyway. We had fresh meat and seafood grilled to order every day at lunch and dinner. At least 3 times during the week we had lobster. It was delicious. Besides the buffet, for lunch there was the Munchies snack bar that served great burgers, hot dogs, and wraps as well as a bar-b-q cart that served hamburgers. They were both delicious. For dinner, the a la cart restaurants were very good as well. We tried the Sushi/Ceviche place first. It wasn't traditional sushi, but it was very good and there was a big selection. The Italian restaurant, Vespa, was good too. Not the best Italian food, but not bad. The best restaurant was the steakhouse, Hunter. All the meats were prepared perfectly. I like my steak medium rare and my companion likes hers medium well. We were both very happy with our orders every time. We ate there 3 times during our stay. We didn't try the Moroccan restaurant. The pool area was beautiful and well maintained. The entertainment staff had great activities, but also let you just relax if that's what you wanted. There were plenty of chairs, but we did need to get up a little early (around 7:30) to ensure we got the chairs we wanted. The only negatives were: 1) The transportation from the airport. We were squeezed into an old bus/min-van resembling the van on the Scooby-Do cartoon. This was disappointing because we flew into La Romana airport which was an hour and a half drive, so it became quite uncomfortable. On the way back to the airport, however, we had a comfortable coach bus.2) The second disappointment was the ocean. It was quite rough in this part of Punta Cana (Uvero Alto). Because I love to swim in the ocean, I did research this before hand and I read that it was a little rougher than the Bavaro Beach area, but I wasn't expecting it to be that rough. It was basically body surfing waves. I was only able to go into the water once during my stay. The reset of the week it was too rough. I can swim, but I'm not the strongest swimmer, so I was afraid of the high waves. there was a life guard on duty, but very few people actually attempted to go into the water. I know the resort has nothing to do with this, however, if you are expecting the calm, swimable waters of Bavaro Beach, you will be disappointed.Like I said, the resort itself is FANTASTIC! Its just the area that has a rough ocean.
This was my first time at an all inclusive resort. I'm assuming it's not like a standard 5-star luxury location, but to me it was amazing! The negatives, and there were a few, were significantly outweighed by the positives. Negatives: #1: our room's phone didn't work for the entire trip. #2: the AC didn't work either, but with the fan and the doors closed our room stayed cool. #3: one of the beachside bartenders was quite inappropriate with me. Positives: #1: our room was to die for; views from a wrap around balcony of the ocean and pool, two water closets, a huge shower, I could go on and on. #2: the staff everywhere on site are simply wonderful. Everyone is helpful, friendly, and entertaining. Carlos at the main bar was entertaining and kind. Chico and Angel, also at the main bar, were great as well. Jimmy and "Abuelo" at the steakhouse were exceptional! #3: our butler Rolando was great! He took care of us the whole week and always was considerate and professional! #4: the food was great, especially at the steakhouse. #5: vendors weren't pushy, never was approached about a timeshare. #6: Jenner, with Vacation Express (how we booked) was resourceful and professional #7: pool/beach towels - never on short supply, high quality, and large. #8: the size of the resort is perfect for me. Nothing is a long walk away, but large enough to have variety. Honestly, there are so many more positive things about this resort, but the most sincere comment I have is that I've never felt so well cared for in any place I've visited. From housekeeping to butler, everyone is exceptional!
