Visited during busiest time of year. Service remained excellent. Staff, waiters and bartenders were always attentive and available. The food and restaurant options were plentiful. Had a wonderful vacay!
Our group of 10 loved this resort! We have visited 3 others in Punta Cana but this is the one that deserves a repeat visit! We were in a swim up room in building 1. Rolando was so sweet, we didn’t request much but he was so accommodating and gracious. Marisol from the pool bar was absolutely top notch! She would stop by the swim up rooms and was simply the sweetest, so courteous! Martin at the swim up bar-amazing as well! We didn’t partake in the workouts much but Jeyco was very inviting and fun! The entertainment team truly shines here. The nights are fun and engaging-not the typical “shows” but designed for visual appeal and crowd participation. Boji (not sure of real name-spent time in Okoboji which is near us), Sexy Jeff, Frankenstein, and others-never pushy but they were so fun that we wanted to come play! At the lobby bar-Johnathan and Natalie were always on top of things! Drinks were amazing and served with a smile. We chatted with Krandall (I think that’s his name-baseball player from the Bronx?) almost every day-so sweet and funny! We were not interested in the vacation club and we were first taken as a group to view the Chic Mansion as possible upgrade-but there is no way that would have been more fun to us than the swim up rooms. Beautiful but not our style. The beds and pillows-very comfortable! I am usually dying to be back in my own bed after a few days but woke up refreshed every morning! The shower was perfect-thinking I’m going to copy it in my own! The tub was pretty but not something I really care for. The food was delicious. I can’t remember another resort with such fantastic food, and I appreciated the attention to cleanliness with the hand sanitizer. The steakhouse was our favorite. I wish I would have gone to the Insomniac cafe sooner-delicious treats (probably saved some serious calories though!) and I appreciated the Munchies-open at the perfect time. The location is the only possible negative-Bavaro Beach is preferred by me-calmer but that truly didn’t matter-we still had fun bobbing in the surf and the chairs and beds were plentiful when we ventured that way. Great resort and wouldn’t hesitate to book again!
This was our first visit to CHIC and it did not disappoint. Although there are many different excursions available, we chose to stay on the resort the entire week. There seemed to always be something happening poolside and by the casino. Various healthy activities such as Yoga are available throughout the day as well as games and presentations. There are bands and various musical events in the evening. The hotel absolutely goes out of its way to welcome you and accommodate your needs. In fact, they do not wait for you to ask. Indeed, they approach you daily to check on your stay.We were Diamond members and I am glad we paid a bit extra for those perks. The food was good and I never felt as if the drinks were watered down. They have premium liquor for mixed drinks and coffee/snacks are always available.We will definitely go back!!!!
Chic Punta Cana is a fairly new resort. We stayed for 10 days and for the most part we really enjoyed ourselves. The resort itself is beautiful and well maintained. The rooms are very nice with one exception the enclosed area in the bathroom where the toilet was enclosed was really tiny and narrow. It was fine for a couple but could see where it might be a problem for friends travelling together. We are Travel Smart members and have Diamond Club privileges and when we arrived we were told we would be upgraded to a Diamond Club room when one became available. Even though it was obvious there were unoccupied rooms we were never upgraded. The room we had was lovely but a bit of a walk from the buffet, restaurants pools and beach-and my husband has mobility issues due to two hip and one knee replacement. It would have been nice if we could have been moved to a more convenient room as was promised. Otherwise the Travel Smart staff was excellent and helpful especially with a la carte reservations and the like. The pools were beautiful and service around them was excellent-however-and this is my main complaint-the music was way to loud-you couldn’t talk to your companions without screaming. The foam parties were particularly loud and annoying with deafening loud bass. And it went on for hours there was no way to escape it-we all ended up with nasty headaches more than once. And this was pretty well every afternoon. Mornings were lovely though. The beach was nice but very small and the ocean very rough- it was next to impossible to swim in it. The food was very good especially in the Italian and Steakhouse. The breakfast buffet was excellent and the mimosas cool and refreshing. Oddly enough though the buffet staff seemed very disinterested and uninvolved tables were often missing napkins, silverware etc and when missing items were requested it took quite awhile to get anything. They seemed much more interested in gazing at their cell phones than interacting with the guests. Tipping helped a bit. The beach bbq at the Diamond Club was absolutely delicious with perfectly cookedSteaks chicken etc. The staff in the Diamond Club lounge and beach restaurant were sensational but the chefs that grilled on the beach went above and beyond. All in all it was a nice vacation and we enjoyed ourselves. However I feel this resort is suited to a much younger crowd-not the over 50 group.
We stayed here recently December 27th-January 3rd, 2018. The weather was very nice, the buildings were also very nice and the service was mostly good.However, our last night, our building caught fire. We were on the top floor and my fiance noticed some commotion outside. He went onto the balcony to see a group of surprised people who yelled at him to leave the building. It turned out they were putting out a fire two rooms below us. After we grabbed our essentials, we entered the hallway covered in smoke and held our breath down the three levels of stairs. At no point did any smoke or fire detectors go off. The resort also had no sprinklers, and no one evacuating the rooms. We were also told that the first three fire extinguishers they grabbed, didn't work. We understand Punta Cana doesn't have a fire department, but there were a lot of things the resort should and could be doing for the safety of their guests. When we came back a little while later, the building was covered in ash and had we not asked for a building change, we are certain they would have let us sleep in our old room. Our luggage and clothes were smoke damaged and no one offered any upgrade or apologies. We were given another room, but it appeared that no one had stayed in there for a while because the shower leaked and didn't look super clean. We also understand that while the employees who worked there were doing their jobs, we expected a response from the hotel management or even Sunwing. So far, we haven't heard from anyone.
