This resort was the moderately rated Sunscape Punta Cana but was reopened in Dec 2008 as a luxury Dreams resort. In keeping with the Dreams Resorts standards, the Palm Beach offers outstanding service, lots of activities and well kept facilities and amenities. A great resort for couples and families. Also try the sister hotel, Dreams Punta Cana.
Location: Beachfront, 20 minutes from Punta Cana International Airport.
Excellente' !!!!Dreams Palm Beach was incredible for the 8 days vacation AND my daughter's destination wedding. All you had to do was point and it was done. Beautiful surroundings, great security and staff, very accommodating wedding planners!Great Experience.
My review is VERY late as we stayed here last Feb. I meant to write a review but our year has been very, very busy and my best intentions went by the wayside. Hopefully people who are now planning a visit for this coming Feb. will see it and it will help them make a decision to stay here. Our friends have been frequent visitors to this resort and although they had just returned from a trip there just a few weeks before, decided to go again since we were going. The reason they return here about 3 times a year is because they are treated very, very well by the staff and management and love the setting and everything about it. They always meet our friends' special requests and make sure they are well taken care of My husband had been recovering from a major medical issue that caused him a bit of a mobility issue, so we needed a room somewhat central to everything. The mgr. took care of us on that score, with even an upgrade. Our room was clean and made up at a reasonable time each day. I am always worried about noise late at night as we are somewhat light sleepers. The ONLY time this was an issue was one night about midnight or maybe about 12:30. I passed a group of guests who were obviously a bit inebriated and judging by their language were likely from a Nordic country so had come along way and were just trying to enjoy themselves. No doubt they were just having fun, not thinking about the volume of their banter. They became VERY loud, just laughing, talking, cursing and so on. I was returning from being with our friends when I passed them. Unfortunately, our room overlooked the sidewalk they were standing on,and though we were on the 2nd floor with our sliders closed, their volume was too loud. I was just about to call and ask if someone might ask them to move along or quiet down. However, just then they did move - maybe 10 minutes from when I passed them. The next day I mentioned it to one of the staff members we often spoke to. He said they had been made aware of the issue and would intervene if if happened again. Though a couple of the same people were half potted much earlier the next evening, they apparently toned it down or went to their rooms earlier. The grounds were well kept as were the pools and beach. We didn't notice any problems with seaweed, though I had seen reviews mentioning this before we went. I did walk along the beach passing several resorts and felt that Dreams had the best location with the nicest beach. We also didn't get bitten by mosquitos. This resort is a cut above the other ones anywhere along that section of beach and probably throughout most of the area and it showed. There was a preferred section of beach in front of the Seaside Grill and also a special pool and indoor bar. We never hung out on the preferred beach (though the chairs were nice). it was a bit TOO quiet and we just preferred being over on the main section of beach. There are several "nice" restaurants, and the food was good. We dined at the French and Italian ones, as well as the Seaside Grill (at least I think that was the name of it?), where we also had lunch once or twice. (We didn't dine at the Mexican or Asian restaurants.) I'd say the service was always good, except at the Seaside Grill, where sometimes some of the servers seemed in a sour mood and were not always friendly. This is about the only criticism I have about our stay. The buffet was good and one evening we even had a special dinner there requested by our friends. The man in charge went above and beyond in presentation and food. Exceptional for a buffet dinner! The paella party by the beach was done nicely, too. At the the La Romana Dreams, they ran out almost right away! This resort was able to pretty much have enough for whoever wanted some. One thing that was very evident was the effort the entertainment staff made to help the guests have fun. While they did not push you, they were quick to ask people to dance or joke around trying to get you to take part in bingo games, etc. Or just plain take the time to talk with you, always saying hello or chatting for a few minutes and their days were long. I noticed some of them putting forth quite an effort with the children at the resort, often interacting with them or getting them to play a game or whatever. Some of these young men were the same ones who would be asking people to dance at the evening music performances some nights took place outdoors near the main bars or lobby. The shows were varied and all were held indoors in a special auditorium. Nearby there was a small casino that you entered to get to a disco within the same building. These venues did at least offer SOMETHING to do for those who are night owls and aren't quite ready to wind down and hit the sack after the shows. We had been to Dreams La Romana a couple of years before this trip. While that, too, was a nice property, something about this Dreams was better. The taste of the drinks, the attention given to the guests, the staff in general, and the prompt maid service made Dreams Punta Cana stand out a bit more. Of course there were the usual spa activities and so forth, and there are tours off property you can book, however we didn't utilize any of these as we were only there for 5 days and this was the first vacation for us since my spouse's recovery. Pools were very clean and there was a fun foam party for a few minutes one afternoon that even kids could take part in. Some days there was volleyball and I think basketball. They even had a batting cage! However, when we were there these venues weren't being utilized quite as much as they likely are during family vacation times of the year (when schools, universities, etc. are not in session). My apologies to the staff and management of this Dreams for this late review, but better late than never! I'd not hesitate to recommend this resort and I'm sure we'll return.
Just got back from a Wedding at Dreams Palm Beach with 60 people. The property is beautiful and well taken care of. Resort is clean. Food was excellent including the Buffett. Ate at the French and Japanese Restaurant twice. Room could of been dusted a bit better but overall housekeeping cleaned the rooms twice a day. The coffee at Coco Cafe is amazing. Beach was beautiful. Would defineteley recommend this hotel for a great family vacation.
It was overall a great experience. Grounds of the property are gorgeous and the ocean view from our room was fabulous (right overlooking the beach) in the Preferred section (Room 4214). ROOM: I was a bit disappointed with our room upon arrival. We had booked the preferred ocean view room. We had an old room which could have used renovations. No preferred club amenities in the room (shower gel, lotion etc.). The safe, television remote and room fan did not work. Due to the humidity, batteries were not working for the safe or remote which took about an hour for maintenance to come up and fix. This should have been checked prior to our arrival. I did get a tour of the facilities and got to see a deluxe tropical view room (was a renovated room) and it was much nicer than ours, but then again the ocean view made up for the difference.*If you like hot showers, I suggest early in the morning (before 7am) or late at night, otherwise it will be a cool shower (which may not be so bad due to the heat and humidity in the Dominican).RESORT STAFF at the hotel were fantastic and always smiling. Entertainment staff was outstanding, enthusiastic and funny. Maid service was great. They always left us extra towels as they saw we needed them and filled our minibar with what we used most. FOOD was quite good. The WORLD CAFE (INTERNATIONAL BUFFET) was best for breakfast. Lots of choices and even a children's bar geared towards the younger ones.PORTOFINO (ITALIAN RESTAURANT)... excellent, wonderful ambiance and great serviceBORDEAUX (FRENCH RESTAURANT (adults only)... again great foodSEASIDE GRILL (SNACKS & GRILLED SPECIALTIES).. average for dinner, but great breakfast (only available for breakfast and dinner in the preferred club)BAREFOOT GRILL ... great for beach and poolside barbeque lunches... amazing burgers!COCO CAFE... excellent variety of coffees, lattes, mochas etc. Had my favorite mocha every morningDid not try the Mexican or Asian restaurant since I didn't stay long enough to do so.*Be sure to drink and brush teeth with bottled water only. WIFI.. was spotty and if you want to call long distance to Canada or the U.S. for free, you must use the downloadable AM resort app (unlimited connectivity). It worked part of the time and was very frustrating. My husband had to make business calls and had to use the room phone which was very costly in long distance charges.BEACH... was beautiful, but a fair amount of seaweed the 5 days I was there. Staff was working hard to rake it up and take it away. (Just after Hurricane Matthew)POOLS... beautiful, clean and well maintainedACTIVITIES... daily newsletter would be slipped under your door showing events and activities available that day. You could relax or join in games, shows or dancing at night. (Never did try the night club or small casino on property).ALL INCLUSIVE.. although the resort is all inclusive and tipping is not required, tips are always appreciated. A dollar or two goes a long way.TOURS.. did the Outback Safari (whole day) checking out the local communities and checking a local farm where we got to see how coffee and coco is made. Had a real Dominican lunch... great time and at the end of the day we got to boogie board on Macao beach. AMAZING BEACH!! Tour guide Rudi was the best, entertaining, funny and very lively... made the tour wonderful. Souvenirs bought on the trip go directly to help the local community which I found fantastic.*Very popular hotel for weddings... in our short 5 day stay, 6 weddings took place (4 of which were on the same day!) Beach reception was gorgeous and very romantic (got to see them from our wonderful ocean-view room!)*For KIDS.. daycare type facility for the little ones (parents not allowed), teen club (small but offer batting cage, xbox, ping pong etc). Unfortunately, my 15 year old said there was no one around, so he visited only once (assume it may be busier in the peak winter season).
My wife and I vacationed here, celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. As the time for the trip approached, we read the reviews, anticipating a wonderful vacation. We read so many reviews, we felt like we knew the place and the staff before we arrived. We absolutely loved it! It lived up to its billing. Preferred is the way to go if you like a quieter location and a few extra perks. The grounds were immaculate, and the service was outstanding. All the staff people were very accommodating. Shout outs for excellent service and attitude to Jorge (Italian and Sea Side), Germain, and especially Emilio! We were there 10 days. We saw a couple of shows, but mainly we went to enjoy the beach, which we did very much. But we spent a couple of afternoons poolside, which was also enjoyable. We would definitely return.
