Our Opinion

This resort was the moderately rated Sunscape Punta Cana but was reopened in Dec 2008 as a luxury Dreams resort. In keeping with the Dreams Resorts standards, the Palm Beach offers outstanding service, lots of activities and well kept facilities and amenities. A great resort for couples and families. Also try the sister hotel, Dreams Punta Cana.

Facing the Caribbean Sea, white sand beaches and lush gardens, Dreams Palm Beach boasts 528 spacious rooms surrounded by swaying palm trees and views of endless blue waters stretching to the horizon - the perfect setting in paradise.

Location: Beachfront, 20 minutes from Punta Cana International Airport.

'Mini golf' resort. UK market be aware

Just to make a comparison, this 'resort' is like a mini golf pretense to a real thing. Being advertised as unlimited luxury and priced accordingly - one would think it will be a decent golf course instead you will end up in a mini golf look a like, meaning the size but more importantly the quality of it.Small and dirty beach - surrounded by blue floating barrier which makes it even uglier. The beach is apparently being cleaned once in the morning but still had a lot of seaweed, old seaweed. Walk a little further either way and the beach is much cleaner in the other resorts (they were cleaned several times throughout the day). These resorts do no advertise themselves as luxury though.Management picture of the beach is a complete misguide and not a true picture of the place.Mainly old, very used towels - strictly one per person - another indication of luxury.Old buildings and run down rooms, small unimpressive reception. Be prepared to play 'swap the room' game on arrival. All couples we spoke to unfortunately had to be engaged in this activity. Dreams employees will try to give you the worse one first - broken toilets and/or no working air conditioner. Then, if you complain, they will swap to another room with the aim for you to eventually upgrade to preferred club (which is not much of an upgrade but at least you can stay in it). Ching - Ching $$, Excellente! So please be prepared to work if you want a decent room.We were lucky and were given an 'upgraded' room (as was pointed by Freslin, the manager?) located in the building 6 (not preferred one). That meant we had working aircon etc. and didn't have to play the swap game. The room reminded me one of road side motel rooms (only motel room is usually bigger). However, let's not forget about 'unlimited luxury'.The preferred club is not nice - a miniature pool surrounded by shabby buildings and sun beds, no swim up bar etc. Even Dreams La Romana preferred place (particularly adults only) is way up the scale.The restaurants - ok let's take 4 small gift shops in the main building, cramp in a few tables and call them luxury restaurants. You have to wait around an hour in order to get in one of them too. So majority of people (especially if you have small kids) end up in a buffet- the same food every lunch and dinner. No themed nights. Ching -Ching, Excellente!Asian restaurant show cooking - no one asked about seafood allergy or preferences (I.e. Vegetarians). Knifes were constantly dropped on the floor - was entertaining in this respect.I will skip over the food review - limited selection, taste is eh. The positive was that we didn't get bad stomach during our stay.Burger van type of facility is also located in the beach.Service was hit and miss but mainly good.The bars - there are two of them, one in the pool area (also swim up bar) and another in reception. Queues to get a drink. The bar attenders were great though, fair play. Drinks were OK, no issue there apart from 'champagne' (shandy type sweet grape juice with some sparkle) and 'vinegar' wine. Proper wine starts from $40. You will also get a better service if you order a bottle.We booked this place via The holiday place U.K. Please be aware that you don't have a holiday representative there. The documents state Amstar but they will not represent you if you are from U.K. However, they will gladly sell you a trip! A scary thought! We had a problem with transfer back to the Airport when Amstar (the guy called Jesus) demanded proof that we paid for it even though we presented him with the transfer voucher. In general - no compassion or understanding, very nice while selling something though.Originally we planned to stay two weeks at Hard rock hotel and casino, however, this place was fully booked for the second week and we were offered Dreams Palm Beach instead. Having stayed at Dreams La Romana previously we thought it will be something decent enough however we ended up in a mini golf joke of a resort. As soon as we arrived we understood this is not for us (7 nights in a place you can hardly move around, ugly and dirty beach, old buildings) and tried to change the place to Dreams La Romana (the same brand and we were prepaid to pay a difference if any) but it was not possible. The reasons given:- Amstar do not represent the U.K. Market, although we were informed that there could be a possibility of moving with a penalty of staying in this resort for at least 3 nights so the 'hotel can have at least some of its money'- We can't swap for security reasons (????)- Call the company you booked with (called twice who tried but were not able to help and were surprised it wasn't possible to be done locally)- Go to reception and ask manager to organize it (went to reception and spoke to Freslin) - not possible.So we were sent back and forth from one party to another with very little customer service, compromise, exchange or refund. They wouldn't even enquiry if the other resort had any places to begin with. Total dismissal.Shocking for the brand such as Dreams!!Please read my other reviews on the trip advisor to understand were I am coming from. Majority of excellent reviews for this place are from people with one review only under their belt - Review for Dreams Palm Beach. So how they have been collected is a question too.

Ambiorix was an incredible server at the pool. Find him, and you will be taken care of all week! He and the rest of the staff went above and beyond. Best vacation and best service I've ever had!Find Ambi (as he goes by), find a relaxing vacation!

Beautiful as always.

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel and it was gorgeous. There were 4 adults and 2 children aged 12 & 3.Staff are fantastic, food amazing, beautiful rooms, we stayed in Preferred club, worth the upgrade as you get to use the Seaside Grill for breakfast and lunch which is amazing! Italian restaurant is lovely, but the Seaside Grill is by far our favourite, amazing food and service was 110%, they were great with the kids and my 3yr old loved the staff.Pool area and beach are lovely, clean, safe and staff very helpful serving drinks to your sun bed constantly (make sure you tip they deserve it).Only 2 little niggles this time -1) 20-30 minute mini disco for children was now being held in the kids club which adults can't go in and my little one didn't want to go without us so he missed out on a bit of kiddi time at night, shame because on our previous visit the Explorers club staff used to do the mini disco for 20mins in the open air cocktail area outside the World cafe and then any children who wanted to go to the kids club after could, this was much better as the little kids could have a bit of music and fun then stay with mum & dad.2) Service on drinks in the World cafe was extremely slow, to the point on one of the days we waited 20mins and asked 3 times for coffee and juice and ended up walking out. We did however choose to mention this to a member of staff at reception of the Preferred club and they immediately arranged for a manager to speak to my husband to talk about our feedback, he then went on the organise a meal for us in a reserved VIP area at no cost and delivered wine and chocs to the room to apologise - we weren't going mad about a cuppa but it was amazing how important they considered the service issue and they went out of their way to sort it and say sorry.We are already planning to return to Dream Palm Beach next Oct, I look at other hotels in and around Punta Cana but always come back to this one.One more tip - Do not fly with Thomas Cook from Manchester - flight was horrendous! Go with BA holidays from Gatwick, very well priced and impeccable service on board.Thank you Dreams, see you soon.

Everything spot on service excellente... we are here for a wedding and all our guests love it.... special mention to clemente... best bar tender at lobby bar even remembered us on our return visit..... also rafael at pool bar very friendly and spot on service... made us feel welcome and help us enjoy our time here..

People Make the Difference in the Caribbean!

I have reviewed this hotel previously as I have been to this resort multiple times. This is not the newest hotel within the Dominican Republic and I am sure there are other resorts that may not be showing as much wear on it but this resort has one thing the newer resorts don't have and that is the team members that work at Dreams Palm Beach. I find the team members at this location to be some of the kindest and most caring workers I have ever dealt with. My review is going to focus on a few of the team members that made my families trip special. I would hope that you if you have the pleasure of going to this location that you get to know these wonderful individuals. Wilson and Rueben - They work at the preferred club as butlers. They made every attempt to connect with our families as they were walking through the resort. They asked every single time if there is anything they could do for us and also went out of there way to do a few special things for us. Rueben decorated my mother-in-laws room with balloons on her birthday. Wilson made a special trip to a grocery store for me when I asked if there was anywhere I could get Diet Pepsi. Instead of giving me directions he made sure I had some in my refrigerator.Junior - World cafe waiter. I don't know why he connected with us on our first dinner but he just did. Every time our family walked into the world cafe he just was so pleasant and would take care of our family. Manuel - Wine Master - I do not drink wine but Manuel made sure he talked to our family every single time he saw us. He also set-up a special dinner for us on my mother-in-laws birthday which included a birthday cake. He also educated us on questions we had about the Dominican Republic and was very kind.Abby - Explorers Club - We have known Abby many years now but she always excepts my kids as one of her own. My kids are slightly older now and she made sure they felt special still and part of the family.Joan - Room Service - We never order room service but he remembered us from multiple years ago when we ran into him on a walkway a few days into our trip. When he saw us he warmly greeted us. That day we got back from the pool and our room had a nice handwritten note from him with a cheese and cracker tray, fruit tray and a bottle of Champagne on ice. No reason to do that but just wanted to do something nice to welcome us back. Lilly and Millecandra(I know I misspelled this... sorry.) - Coffee Shop - These two lovely ladies were so kind and my kids and wife "abused" the coffee shop as they have the best desserts in the resort. They are always laughing and having fun and make the experience fun for all. Benjamin - Entertainment team - He connected with my son and made him feel very special throughout the week. Even included him in a show. Also Edward(Entertainment Manager) is always fantastic and thank you for always welcoming our family. Last but not least the management of the hotel. We were warmly greeted by multiple people in leadership and asked many times if we were doing okay. Thank you for your kindness and your leadership. Your team feels empowered to take care of the guests and make all things possible and this does not go unnoticed.
