Our Opinion

This resort was the moderately rated Sunscape Punta Cana but was reopened in Dec 2008 as a luxury Dreams resort. In keeping with the Dreams Resorts standards, the Palm Beach offers outstanding service, lots of activities and well kept facilities and amenities. A great resort for couples and families. Also try the sister hotel, Dreams Punta Cana.

Dreams Palm Beach Jan. 26-Feb. 1, 2018

We just returned from a 3 week stay in the DR. We had previously stayed at this hotel so were looking forward to returning. Stayed 7 nights at Dreams Palm Beach and had a wonderful time. The service was second to none!! We were absolutely treated like royalty. It truly felt like we had "come home". Unfortunately, I had an unexpected hospital stay which essentially meant we essentially lost 2 days of our vacation but the staff were amazing through this. Especially, Katerin (with the UVC). She was so helpful to both of us and was able to help my husband out when I was in the hospital. I can't say enough good things about her.The weather was extremely windy when we were there which made the evenings a little cool at time but other than that, fantastic. Great beach to walk on. Watch for the local who will climb the trees in barefoot and get fresh coconuts for passers by. He was great fun to watch. We nicknamed him "Mogli". The resort itself is very clean and well kept. Food was fantastic and desserts...well very hard to resist so of course we had too many. *The only thing that I can say that was not absolutely perfect was the fact that the rooms are starting to look a little tired. Maybe due for an update soon?? but this was certainly not a big deal and did not negatively impact our stay what so ever.*We stayed in room 3308 on the Preferred Club Adults only section.

Lovely hotel and resort

Welcome/ Arrival. Processed relatively quickly. No hassle or pressure to upgrade or attend any promotions.Room in block 5 . Comfortable with balcony overlooking pool. Cleaned well every day. Quiet during day but at night can hear band till 11pm. Might keep kids awake but could sit on balcony and listen once kids in bed!Pool absolutely lovely, winding through resort. Spotlessly clean. Good service. Floating mats a great idea. Also able to pick a quiet area if suits you more than the noisy swim up bar area.Gardens are an absolute delight. Lovely tropical plants all very well cared for.Beach-lovely with some seaweed which was cleared regularly throughout the day.( Bit baffled by some of the comments re the amount of seaweed) Beautiful walks along the beach.Restaurants. World Café buffet style. Huge selection and variety of food to suits all tastes. Great omelettes at breakfast, made to order. Bordeaux – lovely meal here. Quiet and not rushed. Himitsu- Asian . Felt very rushed and quality of food mixed. Portofino-Italian.- good food. Oceana- big fan of seafood and this restaurant was a disappointment. Fish was overcooked and not pleasant as a result.Great hamburgers and hotdogs from the pool grill. Coffee bar was great for coffees and cakes.Staff- they were all ‘excelente’. All the staff were friendly, efficient and smiley and happy to help with any requests. All in all a great holiday at a great resort.

Amazing vacation!

I want to start by saying I was apprehensive after reading many negative reviews but Dreams Palm Beach was amazing! Yes, the rooms are dated. They are however very clean and the mini bar and towels are plentiful. We (my husband and 2 small children) stayed in a preferred honeymoon suite (room 3203). I requested a ground level and there wasn’t one available upon check-in. I was very disappointed as I knew there were no elevators and requested this in advance, having young kids, stroller, etc. it’s not ideal to lug up and down stairs all week but we survived. You are in paradise and on vacation so these little things can be overlooked. The suite was spacious and had a beautiful tropical garden/pool view. The food at DPB is incredible! Fresh, delicious, lots of variety even for picky eaters. I especially loved the Seaside Grill. Cristina (hostess) at the Seaside Grill was so accommodating and always smiling. We enjoyed breakfast and lunch here many days as well as dinner - my husband asked for 2 steaks and they happily accommodated! I must give special mention to Valentin, waiter at the Seaside Grill. He waited on us many days and knew my son and baby by name and played with them and went out of his way to make sure we were always happy. That’s where this hotel succeeds- customer service. From the grounds keepers to the maids (thank you Wendy & Gisele) to the hostesses, waiters and restaurant staff. So many kind people that stopped to make our children smile, ask if we were enjoying ourselves, etc. We enjoyed Santa R (sp?) in the World Buffet... she cleaned the tables at breakfast and my 1 year fell in love with her and we really enjoyed speaking with her. All the staff are professional but friendly and approachable. My favorite is Juan Carlos - waiter at the preferred family pool. He epitomizes great customer service. He went above and beyond every single day and we were sad to leave & not see his smiling face everyday. He knew our names, drinks, dislikes, etc by the 2nd day. He’d even clean and fill my son’s bottles with milk. Thank you Juan Carlos!!! I focus on their service bc this is why DPB stands out... the people, the exceptional grounds - maintained gardens and lush flora. The food and great drinks. The beach was a huge disappointment... they clean the seaweed but it’s not enough, I believe it’s the location of resort unfortunately the water is murky. The Eco resort next to it was even worse. I was in Punta Cana 14 years ago and the water was pristine. The rooms also let me down - we paid a lot of money for preferred suite and while it was clean, it had tiles missing in the shower, closet doors that didn’t close, and the list goes on. That being said, I would recommend this resort as you don’t go on vacation to sit in your room. Just informing others of what to expect as it does matter to some. Be sure to try the Spa... I’m a massage junkie ;-) and Lilibeth gave me one of the best Swedish massages ever! We hope to return one day - thank you for all the memories!
