Excellence Punta Cana
- What's Included
- All Inclusive Features
The Excellence Punta Cana is an adequate resort for couples looking to relax and get away in Punta Cana. Great rooms and accommodations. The rooms are cleaned and stocked daily. It can be guaranteed that goodies (chocolate, soft drinks and beer) will always be stocked in the mini-bar. The resort also makes good use of their 24-hour room service, which is always prompt. Pleasant and helpful staff, especially those near the pools, bars and beaches. Good layout of the resort. There are plenty of pools within reach, so you'll never find a shortage of loungers anywhere. The beach is a good place to lounge as well. However, for those wanting to wade along the shores, be advised that the resort often discourages this specifically when waves and currents are strong. There are endless options for both buffet and a la carte restaurants. Make sure to check out the Grill and Spice a la carte restaurants!
We had a waiter every night while there that made our experience the best ever. His name was Dionisio. Hope I spelled that right. He went above and beyond and was amazing.. I would recommend this place to anyone. In fact if you get Dionisio as a waiter you will have the best experience ever..
We went with 2 other couples for a week long get away...everything was wonderful, so laid back and pleasant! It was our first time to the DR and we were not disappointed! The staff was great...we were celebrating my husband's birthday and they decorated our room and went above what we asked for. Our mini bar attendant, Rigoberto, was the best! Went out if his way to make sure we had everything we requested!
We stayed at The Beloved Hotel in Cancun in 2016 and had a truly 5* experience. Which made us decide upon the Excellence in PC as a sister hotel. We have just stayed there seven nights and, sad to say, it didn't live up to our expectations. The tipping factor (see many other reviews) is a definite spoiler. We're all for rewarding superior service - one we've received it - but the advance expectation throughout this hotel just becomes embarrassing. We experienced surly and negative service if we didn't tip all the time. That shouldn't be the case at an all-inclusive hotel, but - despite all the constant negative reviews on this matter - management just doesn't seem to care.We were concerned about the stories, too, of theft from room safes. So we took extra precautions in this regard. But then we experienced a theft of an unopened bottle of champagne (given to us as a gift on arrival) from our minibar fridge and were astonished on our return to our room on our last night of our stay to find that two of the liquor bottles in our minibar had been almost drained (from fairly full) whilst we were at dinner. I would never stay at a hotel again where you can't trust the staff who service your room.We are a private couple who keep to ourselves, but this hotel seemed to cater more for rowdy drunks shouting at each other constantly. Wish the Excellence PC could decide upon its own identity, which The Beloved Hotel has clearly and successfully managed. There are some positives - the large pool is one of them - but, overall, we were disappointed.
The only bummer where the bugs! We could hardly be outside at night. However that wasnt the hotels fault, they fogged and provided plenty of bug spray. Loved our room, we had a swim out suite. We enjoyed the dining options and the private club experience. The nightly entertainment we looked forward to. My spa experience was just ok, but the spa itself was beautiful. It is a typical all inclusice style resort, with friendly staff, and a nice array of options. We also LOVED the beach beds and the wonderful drink service.
I think it's important to note the context of this holiday. I booked a honeymoon style holiday for my mum and new step dad after they got married... unfortunately had to cancel this due to illness and other quite emotional matters. When the time came i rebooked for myself, my mum and stepdad and my best friend to go for 2 weeks in the sun. It was a special (and overdue) break for us all. I emailed ahead and told them it was their honeymoon - so they put a banner on the door and created us with champagne and fruit in the room. It was lovely!! Everything about the break was amazing... it's almost difficult to know where to start. But i will begin with the one thing that i felt stood out the very most, and that was the staff.. honestly, i have been to several 5* resorts and generally the staff have always been very good, but the staff here go above and beyond to make sure your stay is perfect. I really want to name a few staff who really made our holiday special! Firstly, Alex at reception - well you are a diamond! So sweet, friendly and helpful. Remembered our names and room numbers for the entire two weeks and anything we asked for was given to us (even when i put my room key on top of my phone and couldn't get back in! You really added a personal feel to our holiday. Thank you! Next, the daytime entertainment team. These are the lovely guys and girls in the green tops (though they change to black and white in the evening) They work SO SO hard, to make you enjoy your holiday that little bit more. From pool games, to volleyballl, to bingo, their dancing, singing and everything else they do just makes the day even more perfect. Even when it rains they keep spirits high. They are all wonderful, but for us a few names REALLY stuck out. Luz, well i have never every laughed so hard at such a little lady! Ei Ei Ei!! she is so funny, and just made our week to join in the games and dancing with her! Felix was my personal favourite, determined to make me dance by the end of my time there... and he got his way! Such a charmer, friendly and great dancing partner (even if i have two left feet) Soli, Bianny and Efiany really clicked with my best friend and looked for him every night on the dance floor. You definitely made us feel SO welcome and at home and added some brilliant memories to our already perfect holiday. Also a special mention to Hernandez the pool concierge, my morning spanish lessons will stick with me forever (even if i can only count to four and ask for towels ;))The rooms, were spotlessly clean and tidy, turn down and mini bar were just brilliant one issue we had was getting enough tea bags, but this was after they provided us with our own kettles (two british Tea drinkers - didn't want the amazing coffee!!!) Food!! Ok... 9 resturants and honestly i don't have a bad word to say about any of them. Service was amazing, food was fresh and there were lots of options. Two of our party are super health conscious and one is so fussy... well ate well every night and all came home missing the cooking. The gala nights and specials were also so much fun, mixing and mingling with different people and experiencing different things made our holiday better. Not needing to book was amazing too - never queued for anything, except Chez Isabelle - but it was worth it. Everything about the resort was amazing... i am struggling so hard to find fault with anything that was within their control. The beach is beautiful, but the sea is very very rough - although this lead to some hilarious photos. I just want to say thank you very much to all the staff (including those i haven't named) for making our holiday so special. The wifi is terrible, but it doesn't even bear mentioning - you don't need it.
