Our Opinion
The IFA Villas Bavaro is a good resort for those couples looking to to relax in Punta Cana. The resort is very big, so this is great for those who don't mind walking around to explore the resort. However, they do offer shuttle services. The villas are the farthest from the beach and main resort area, so try to request and book rooms in the village area. The rooms might be a bit outdated. However, unless you're looking to spend a majority of your time indoors, it doesn't necessarily take away from the experience. There are plenty of buffet items to choose from and four a la carte restaurants. Good staff. Be advised that there is a charge if you're wanting to do a late check-out.
Located on the marvelous Bavaro Beach coast, the IFA Villas Bavaro features comfortable rooms set within charming villas. Surrounded by a stunning landscape and boasting a wide range of facilities, restaurants and services especially designed to ensure an unforgettable stay! Hotel complex includes IFA Bavaro Ocean, IFA Bavaro Village and IFA Villas Bavaro.

Location: Beachfront, 45 minutes to Higuey, 20 minutes from the airport.

Great time

Booked through Apple Vacations and excellent value. Stayed 1st week in November. Very nice room with balcony. Maid service brought us 2 towels daily in a.m. and room cleaned by 5 p.m. daily. Needed to turn handle in shower in opposite direction to get hot water but never any issues with not having hot water. Loved the beach, ocean and could always find chaise lounge and shade. Did not hang out by pools or swim in them but many people relaxing, swimming there. Ate at 3 ala carte restaurants and buffet restaurant. Liked breakfast best with tasty breads. Ate at Caribe twice and first time much better than second so depends on what you order. Service was very good at all places and servers pleasant and friendly. Bartenders Olmandy, Vladimir and Geraldo at Margarita Bar did a great job and fun to be around. We did tip with a few dollars for maid, bartenders, servers, drivers. Check out went smooth with Preily. Overall experience at this resort was better than expected and would go back.

Some good...some bad

Not a fantastic resort but good value for your money. The Pros...Fantastic staff. Most staff very attentive, buffet is pretty good with a nice variety which changes nightly. The breakfast omelettes are really good. decent rooms with really good water pressure in the showers, easy check in and check out. Very safe The Cons...Lacking house keeping in the rooms, almost non existent wifi, advertised 4 al la carte restaurants but only 2 open at a time, must line up 1/2 hour before requested time to possibly get a reservation for the same evening or you won't get in for a al la carte dinner, huge issue... they open the resort up to the public on Sundays so be prepared to be completely over run, can't get near a bar, the pools are full and you can't get a lounge chair. Rude and greedy. Bar not convenient to the beach. There is a market off the beach which has local souvenirs but be warned... you get completely mobbed by vendors trying to sell you things... pay 1/4 of what they initially ask. A lot of construction going on around the resort, unsightly and loud at times. Not nearly enough washrooms in the public areas Soooo... all in all, not great but not bad either. I would go back

Class is ambiance

Wood structure high ceilings in major buildings like reception, main restaurants and cafe. Located in an exclusive, wealthy gated area. Staff is very competent yet reserved. The food was excellent with Caribbean and European flair. It goes way beyond all inclusive. There are two swimming pools with ample chaises. The beach is a good five minutes walking time away but the golf carts drive every minute so all is good. There is a big restaurant/bar by the beach, lunch is also served at 12:30. The only problem was housekeeping. We would leave in the morning with the ‘please make up room’ sign on the door, while the cleaning lady was next door with her cart, only to came back after lunch to an unmade room with towels on the floor. We stayed one week starting Saturday and had clean towels on Monday after I complained. By Wednesday still the same scenario, no clean towels and unmade beds. It took three phone calls to housekeeping ‘‘tis time. We kept using blue beach towels. This was a disgrace to this otherwise wonderful resort.

Very good, but not perfect.

Very friendly and helpful staff, both in the restaurants as well as in the rooms.Nice beach. One downside, several construction sites in full operation with heavy road construction machinery as "neighbours".These took away the feel of luxury and peacefulness.

Great vacation at Ifa

My family and I had visited the IFA for the first time last October, and we were a little skeptical about it as the island had just been hit by a storm so we didn't know what surprises were waiting for us.Upon arrival check-in took no more that 10 minutes, that we were shown to our room which was in top condition very clean and very nice. Nothing like we have seen in pictures of other reviews. On the first day you'll notice that language was going to be an issue if you didn't speak some Spanish. The staff speak very little English, coming form an other Caribbean island where Spanish is one of the spoken languages it wasn't a big deal for us, but that was not at the Resort alone also outside the resort when we visited the malls nearby. I have to say the service is great in all the restaurants, around the pools, cleaning staff, there is always service with a smile. Restaurants were not crowded at all, you do have to be early to make dinner reservations or you'll be having dinner at the buffet every night, which wasn't bad.The kids loved the animals on the property, it was quite interesting. You can walk to the beach if you want to take one of the multiples shuttle that go around all day long to and from the beach. The beach was very nice with very fine sand, there was seaweed on the beach every morning but the guy were out there before sunrise taking care of it. There isn't much you can do about it washes in on and off but it's taken care of.One thing i didn't like at all was the aggressiveness of the tour operators on the property, they will keep badgering you at all times of the day for the length of your stay. Trying to sell you tours. They have tour desks in the lobby. One of them got mad at us when we told him on the 3rd day that we were not interested. We would definitely visit again we really like it, 7 night was not long enough my wife said when we were checking out.
