Our OpinionThe IFA Villas Bavaro is a good resort for those couples looking to to relax in Punta Cana. The resort is very big, so this is great for those who don't mind walking around to explore the resort. However, they do offer shuttle services. The villas are the farthest from the beach and main resort area, so try to request and book rooms in the village area. The rooms might be a bit outdated. However, unless you're looking to spend a majority of your time indoors, it doesn't necessarily take away from the experience. There are plenty of buffet items to choose from and four a la carte restaurants. Good staff. Be advised that there is a charge if you're wanting to do a late check-out.
Location: Beachfront, 45 minutes to Higuey, 20 minutes from the airport.
This hotel was a nice hotel. We stayed for 1 week and it didn't feel like enough time.FoodThe food was typical buffet Breakfast and lunch. At dinner you had to reserve your spot if you wanted one of the site down dinner. The were all great food besides the Italian one.The beach is very busy and can be hard to find places in the shade unless you go down early. Bartenders were great and drinks came quick. The room had 2 double beds in it and the bathroom was open concept. The toilet had frosted glass which you could easily see through. The beach is a little bit of a walk from the main area of the hotel. There can be some bugs in your room as this is a tropical destination. The room was stocked with water every day and the air condition worked great. The great thing about this hotel was that there was very few children if any when we went.
Stayed at this resort for a week back in March . My husband and I spent a great relaxing week here and found the staff very helpful and kind. Our room overlooked the pool which was on the second floor. Buffet restaurant was just next door, also a pizzeria across from our room which was open all night that served not only pizza, but fries burgers and cold beer. Their evening intertainment was usually very good with great light show.Beach was about ten minute walk from our room which we did most days. They also have a shuttle which will pick you up at the lobby or beach about every ten minutes, which was very good for us as my husband had a heart condition. All in all I would definitely recommend this resort and would return again.
Really disgusting food, flies all over food and no one cares. have to line up everyday to book in a al carte restaurant as understaffed. Thomas cook didn't warn us at all the hotel was under construction. The big pool is filthy with a film of dirt on the top and you will cut your feet on floor pool as my child did. The hotel cleaners are the best thing here. The bra staff are perverts and make it known. Worst holiday I ever had and Thomas cook are totally to blame as they falsely advertised this hotel to me and I am going to take legal action. DO NOT GO HERE unless you are a drunk you wont like it. Anyone who has said this place was ok clearly has no idea of what good food is or decent hotel. We got very ill at this resort too. Horrible horrible place.
Stayed here for 2weeks from the 19th sept 2016 with my brother. Check in was fast an efficient. Room was lovely with air con , tv , fridge ( stocked only with water ) alot off building work going on to modernise the place which we where informed off before arrival as also one swimming pool was closed. This didnt effect our holiday. For whatvwe payed ( 7th time in dom rep) it had all it needed to. Food was ok, not out off this world but plenty for all diets. Buggy service from rooms to reception or reception to beach. All in all had a fantastic time but wouldn't return to this hotel for following reasons.1 the pathways arevlarge style cobbles which resulted in blisters on feet as very hard to walk on.2 the swimming pool floor and sides are best described as the roughest sand paper youmhave ever walked on. Be warned if youmplay water polo can result in ripped skin and soars. 3 music at pool bar unbearable volume level at weekend when locals stay at hotel. ( i enjoy a disco but couldnt even hear person sat next to you over the volume) .However in general they do there best to entertain, feed you and make sure you can enjoy your hols.Good parts.Top off resort is a jacuzzi bar, very clean, generally quiet and a variet off music, main pool tends to be spanish music only.Cafe bar is pleasant but we called it the unsociable bar as you get free wifi there ( very slow) so lotsvpeople just staring at a phone screen.Chill out bar by the entertainments complex is really nice and quiet in the day and wifi is better there as hardly anyone using it also free.Ents team are fun and friendly if games are your thing with bottles off rum to be won.Disco onsite is air conditioned and welcome relief from the evening heat often humid, arrive early if english music is your thing. Party till you drop . Beach is very pleasannt by day .Evening shows at theatre are very good as is the hotel band. Finally Strongly advise strong sun creams, especially fair skinned people, don't be fooled if cloud cover you will still burn. I used factor 50 for first week then dropping down . Better to tan slow than overdue it and ruin your hols.Use a strong mozzy spray in evenings jungle formula and highest deet you can get works best. And apply to all areas not just exposed. Barter with people who walk round site offering trips, these are often cheaper than your holiday company rep. Local alcohol is free however international drinks are charged at around $7 glass. Dont be fooled local drinks still get you very drunk if not careful. A big no no. Do not go to the beach after dark, especially if females. You will be surrounded by local men very quickly who may try and thrust themselves upon you or relieve you off any money or phone.Don't swim outside marked areas in the day as boats pass at high speed and is dangerous. So your moneybyour choice people however as someone who has been a good few times to dom rep i now know you get what you pay for so i for one will pay a little extra and return to iberostar resorts that knock spots off this hotel.
Clean place. Army of cleaners on the go all day in restraunts toilets beach and rooms. Very clean hotel. Here now for our honeymoon and cant escape building work other than the beach. Too much at once. Big pool shut and building work going on around only pool open. Food is pretty good. Althou found some meats to be undercooked. Do check your food!!! Beach is beautiful best by far iv been too. Standard rooms which we are in, not what we payed for but are nice and modern and clean all the same. On the whole i wud return around summer 17 when work is finished. Nice what they are doing.
