IFA Villas Bavaro

Our OpinionThe IFA Villas Bavaro is a good resort for those couples looking to to relax in Punta Cana. The resort is very big, so this is great for those who don't mind walking around to explore the resort. However, they do offer shuttle services. The villas are the farthest from the beach and main resort area, so try to request and book rooms in the village area. The rooms might be a bit outdated. However, unless you're looking to spend a majority of your time indoors, it doesn't necessarily take away from the experience. There are plenty of buffet items to choose from and four a la carte restaurants. Good staff. Be advised that there is a charge if you're wanting to do a late check-out.
Location: Beachfront, 45 minutes to Higuey, 20 minutes from the airport.
I recently stayed here for 6 nights. I was a little skeptical due to other reviews that I read. This resort is nice and clean. I stayed in Punta Canta a year ago at a 5 star resort so I believe my expectations were too high for this place. The pool bar was excellent Ramsel & Javier were great. Most of the staff were friendly but only a few spoke English. Housekeeping didn't speak English at all. This made it very difficult to communicate with them. So from the beginning my flight was late so we arrived around 4 for check in and my room wasn't ready. I had to wait another hour. I was supposed to have 2 rooms, 1 king, 1 with 2 queens. This didn't happen. I was given 2 rooms with 2 double beds. I was told that if I waited for a king then my kids wouldn't be in the same building which wasn't what I was expecting. No wash cloths in the room, repeatedly I asked by showing the translation on my phone but didn't receive any. I was finally given 1 wash cloth 2 days before I left. There is no iron or ironing board. You also have to pay for a safe in the room which is completely ridiculous. I've never had to pay for a safe anywhere. The food was just ok, the buffet became repetitive. The pizza bar was good along with the Las Velas grill which was great for lunch, they had a better variety. You have to make reservations for the other restaurants and if you're not on the phone at 9 am then they get booked. I enjoyed Jalisco which is the Mexican restaurant. The worst part was that they allow the local vendors to come onto the property to sell their items. This was a complete nuisance, they would follow you or continue to hassle you to come to their table. They were right in the front so it was hard to avoid them. I experienced this on 2 nights during my stay. Overall not a bad vacation but I would spend a little more and stay somewhere else.
Lovely hotel and grounds. Staff average not much english which is difficult sometimes. Also found most of the staff looked at you like a piece of dirt on their shoe! And some staff had more time for there phones especially the ones in the shops. All in all i would not return, its not for me.Wifi- waste of time!!!!!!! Food- basic and hit and miss some nights, fresh pasta station and meat. Very repetitive and found a piece of plastic in my food 2nd night in. Al a cart restraunts difficult to get in to you have to stand in a HUGE que on the morning you want to go. Pizza bar next to the main pool is really nice, always fresh pizzas put out.Rooms- we had a villa 1198 far away but not really a problem as get golf carts going around to pick you up. The room is lovely could be improved a little but cleaned everyday towels every couple of days and a nice big tv on the wall. Pool- there is 2 pools one is more lively with the animation team and swim up bar, i didn't use that pool but seemed busy enough. We used the 2nd pool has 2 bars next to it so didn't have far to go. Plenty of sun beds not much shade. Only one towel hut at the main pool also. Beach- the beach is beautiful nice and big it has a bar and place to have lunch. BAD POINT is you cant go far out in the sea as they have nets as boats are constantly passing by trips and party boats (very close)
It is a very nice resort! We stayed in bungalows, they look the same as in pictures from booking. It was two rainy days in our holliday, it was raining in our room but it doesn't bother us because we were in one Caribbean island and it was a positive mood. The resort has many restaurants, a la carte restaurants, pizzeria and many bars. The stuff that works in coffee bar and in bars was very friendly, always they smile and tells you a joke. The food was very tasty in the principal restaurant, we tried in one night the a la carte restaurant but you don't know what you order (because the menu is not very explicit) and every morning you should wait at one crowd to reserve a place for the a la carte restaurant instead to have a good time on the beach (in concusion we chosen the principal restaurant)! It was an excellent holiday!
for the price- it was fantastic.it was close to airport, close to surrounding markets and shops, and the bungalows are lovely. we stayed in room 1236, this is possibly as far away from anything as you can get.this was a 2 minute buggy ride to the reception, and if you wanted to go the beach, it would be the same again. we were woken very early on our second week as they were knocking down a wall directly outside our room. the food was what you would expect, it did get very repetitive, especially after two weeks -again, what you would expect. the Pikalo pizza bar was very yummy.we tried the restaurants, Caribe was the best - beef and chicken were very nice.we didnt go on the beach often because of the noise from passing party boats, and because of this, you couldn't swim very far out and if you did, you were attacked by seaweed.we did 2 trips. we booked one through thomas cook (Adventure boogies) and one from the men selling around the resort (seaquarium) - they were both very good and would highly recommend.they allow market stalls into the hotel and they can become very annoying when you dont want to buy anything. overall it was a lovely stay
A good business is defined by the management. This management is horrible. Juan Carlos should. Be fired or disowned if he's a relative. That's the only way I can figure out how they hired this guy. He is not to be trusted. Get it in writing and make sure it's very accurate. Even the other employees say the same when he's gone. It seems that lying is a game or a way of life? No pool service, no good alcohol, the buffet is crap and the exact same every day. They have rules about every little thing to save money. They say the Resteraunt's are sold out and you go there and there are 10 people and 30 empty tables ? No beach service and it's a 10 minute walk to a deserted beach. Lol. If they continue this way they will be gone in 3 years. Is it so hard to provide good food, service and management ? DO NOT GO HERE.
