Our Opinion
The IFA Villas Bavaro is a good resort for those couples looking to to relax in Punta Cana. The resort is very big, so this is great for those who don't mind walking around to explore the resort. However, they do offer shuttle services. The villas are the farthest from the beach and main resort area, so try to request and book rooms in the village area. The rooms might be a bit outdated. However, unless you're looking to spend a majority of your time indoors, it doesn't necessarily take away from the experience. There are plenty of buffet items to choose from and four a la carte restaurants. Good staff. Be advised that there is a charge if you're wanting to do a late check-out.
Located on the marvelous Bavaro Beach coast, the IFA Villas Bavaro features comfortable rooms set within charming villas. Surrounded by a stunning landscape and boasting a wide range of facilities, restaurants and services especially designed to ensure an unforgettable stay! Hotel complex includes IFA Bavaro Ocean, IFA Bavaro Village and IFA Villas Bavaro.

Location: Beachfront, 45 minutes to Higuey, 20 minutes from the airport.

Not what I expected

This hotel was recommended to me by my agent so I waited for a good deal to come along and booked. I had been to the DR 3 times by that point and really wanted to visit Punta Cana as I had heard great things about the beaches. The hotel itself is nice, the pools are clean and the food is good. There were two twin brothers that worked at one of the bars that were really funny and made the experience of just sitting around having drinks fun. You have access to both sides of the resort: the resort side and the villa side. I did like that as I enjoy a big resort with lots to see. The Villa side is much nicer. The biggest downfall of this resort in my opinion is the route to the beach. It looks as though there used to be more buildings on the long pathway down to the beach that are no longer there. Its really depressing and unkept looking. We went to the beach every day and so i definitely found this a big sore point of the trip.Overall I would not go back to this resort. There are better options for the price or a little more.

Ok for a cheap getaway

We previously stayed in Punta Cana at the Gran Bahia and this resort is nothing like that. Our check in was a bit of a mess, which seems par for the course here....They kept asking for our hotel voucher which I was not provided with from Transat, but they finally just took my emails and confirmation numbers and started to check us in. The people working the desk seem to just want to get you registered and on your way....eventually. They answer the phone, and yell at each other, while ignoring you, to finally hand you a key and wave you away. If you want a safe you have to see someone else at another counter and pay more for tge safe. It was 21.00 US for the week, which is not bad but you soon learn there are a few other ways that they try to "nickel and dime" you into ridiculous additional charges. If you want wifi anywhere other then the lobby it is 40.00 US for the week...for 1 device....and it is very sporadic. This must be paid for in the wifi/internet shop. The room we had was newly renovated and located by the pikalo pizza bar. Well within walking distance to the beach and close to one of the pools. This pool, btw, is the louder of the 2 and has only a handful of lounges that are bolted down on one side of the pool The other side of the pool has zero lounge chairs for some weird reason....We did 1 a la carte, Caribe, for Valentines day. We had to stand in line for almost 1 hour to make the reservation for dinner ( we found out after that you can actually call ext 220 and book it over the phone instead) When we went for dinner we were told we could not have a glass of wine? We could, however, buy a bottle of wine???? Weird that the table next to us DID get glasses of wine though....Anyways, we did discover quickly that this resort does try to sell you bottles of wine, and an additional menu of grilled lobster dinners, for additional costs. We have stayed at quite a few all inclusives and I have never seen a resort before that consistently tries to sell you additional menus/wines etc that will cost you more. Allinclusive should be that....all inclusive. I should not have to buy a bottle of wine to just have a glass. I should not have to pay to get quality seafood/lobster ( which most resorts include) The staff , mostly, are very friendly. We do consistently tip as these people work very hard. I feel, however, that they spend too much time trying to push people into buying extras. The pools are nice, food is ok, beach is ok also, and the rooms are renovated and beautiful. The resort is ok for the price but I doubt we will ever come back nor recommend it to anyone

I got what I paid for

Let me start by saying this is a 3 star resort not a 4 star as Sun Wing rates it,the services are for a budget vacation traveler and you get what you pay for.- Front desk are the most useless and rude people at this resort I asked to change rooms on my 2nd day there it started at 9 am and finally got another room at 7pm after taking to 4 people they will hide from you and do there best to pass the buck and not help you at all after all that they moved us 1 block closer and beside the road thanks for nothing by far the worst part of our vacation I would get rid of them all.- Booking a Al cart is slow and very painful the line up starts at 8:30 and you can only book for that day why not for the full week? Must say the food at all the Al carts are good.-Smokers all over the place with no respect for anyone, will light up beside you at all the restaurants and La carts and butt there cigarette in the sand and not clean up after them selfs. IFA should not allow smoking at any restaurants were are there standards.-Rooms are small with 2 double beds the shower door has no wiper on the bottom of it and the water runs out onto the floor on tile very dangerous.-Bar,cleaning,and grounds people are hard working friendly always willing to help you with a smile on there face WHAT the hell happened to the front desk staff!-Beach is the best in the world they are cleaning all the time sea weed and other people's cigarette butts -Theater is one of the best that I have seen it is new and lots of laser lights the shows are OK they could do a lot better.Over all this is a budget resort and the food was good and lots of it very little sea food I did get what I paid for. Would not stay here again because of the front staff bad rude service. Wifi is slow and cost $40 US for a week along having to pay $3US a day for the safe.

Great holiday

Had a great time at IFA would recommend to friends and family. Great value for money the food was great and the staff where helpful and had a large choice of cocktails which tasted really good . the place was very clean every morning they cleaned washing down the paths . the beach is amazing go right and walk down the beach for a quit swim and go left and walk a long way to shops on the beach . me and my girlfriend had a great time and would defiantly go again. They could do with playing more English music but that's a small detail to moan about .

Where to start...if you have ankle, knee hip or back problems then this is the place not to go,the ground was very uneven with all the stone blocks they used, the beach was a fair distance from the front lobby needed a golf cart 7 seats to go to and fro,40.00US for in room wifi or go to the free wifi zones witch was so poor a turtle moves faster, the language barrier was poor very little english spoken, the food was terrible (my opinion) no beer or pop in fridge and when requested beer it was warm, take 12-24 hrs to get cold mini fridge was very small not very cold,no exhaust fan in bathroom and door does not go to the ceiling,so ya it would "stink" a little floors were ceramic tile, like a sheet of ice when wet would put dirty towels in hallway just so housekeeping would know to replace,NOPE they would throw them under the sink instead, showers were so strong like little knives hitting you especially after being in the sun all day, staff at guest services was very disinterested and not informative enough about things you want to do,always on the phone checking things out,i have been to Punta Cana 6x stayed at various resorts and this was far the WORST!!!...oh ya rent a room safe 21.00US for the week.
