Our Opinion
The IFA Villas Bavaro is a good resort for those couples looking to to relax in Punta Cana. The resort is very big, so this is great for those who don't mind walking around to explore the resort. However, they do offer shuttle services. The villas are the farthest from the beach and main resort area, so try to request and book rooms in the village area. The rooms might be a bit outdated. However, unless you're looking to spend a majority of your time indoors, it doesn't necessarily take away from the experience. There are plenty of buffet items to choose from and four a la carte restaurants. Good staff. Be advised that there is a charge if you're wanting to do a late check-out.

Positive experience

We stayed here as the friends we were vacationing with chose this resort. I would say 95% of the employees were great and polite. Very helpful. But there's always that one that kind of ruins it for everywhere. Most of the employees do not speak English so if it's a must do not stay here. The first two days we have absolutely no hot water. And they only give you the bare minimum when it comes to towels. Never ever any extra. My biggest complaint was how far the rooms were from the beach. I went to punta cana for the beaches and we were about a 15 minute walk from the beach. The pool closed super early as well. But I will say the majority of the employees were super sweet with smiles on their faces so that made it better.

This hotel was exactly what my rating says: Average. My boyfriend and I went for 10 days.. upon arrival the check-in went smoothly. We were taken to our room with our keys and a map. We settled in well but we found that we had to work everything out ourselves. We didn't know how to reserve a table and we're not well informed as to where the actual a la carte restaurants were...! When we finally managed to book a table at the Mexican restaurant we were greeted by a pretty limited and unappetising menu. One that made my boyfriend quite unwell.. The staff were friendly and the pools and rooms were nice and clean. The air con in rooms were loud and on a timer but they did the job. The buffet was nice for the first few days but did get very repetitive and boring.There were a few bars but they were very chilled. So the only option was to go back to the room at midnight or go to their club/disco which was so loud we couldn't even talk. The beach was lovely although it was full of seaweed!!! On the whole it was ok, but I wouldn't go back.

7 Days Stay

This trip was booked by our children our birthday and so we were both looking forward to it.The first few days were good, the weather was lovely the food was good and the room was ok, but we noticed that most of the staff did not understand English, so we had to keep repeating ourselves. We went from 25 June to the 3rd July. On the 30th June, we went on a days excursion and the next day we noticed our money was missing, it was locked away in our suitcase and I had the keys I never use the hotel safe because I don't trust them. They fiddled the lock and put it back so you would not notice. I immediately call reception told them what had happened, it took a long while for the security to come to the room when they did the security could not speak Engish and they started to search the room because we may have mislaid it said the service Manager. I explained everything and they said they would do investigations, the next day we had to go and look for them for them to tell us there is nothing they could do and the only persons to enter the room was myself and my partner and the maid.Nothing else was done.We later found out you could get into the room by the window as it did not have a lock and they use the key by sliding it along the door. I was so upset I will never go back to the Dominica Republic the worst holiday I ever had and I like to travel. I will warn my friends, family, and anyone I know who wants to go there. I lost £100, it's not about the money it's about the intrusion and them making out we were lying. If you value your belonging and money do not go there, there are more reliable places to go in the world. I have never been so glad to come home from holiday before

3 week stay, nice resort

Myself, wife and 8 year old daughter travelled between July and August and stayed for 3 weeks. We were in a superior room overlooking the main pool. The room was clean and had everything we needed and was cleaned well. The only negative I would say were the beds werent big enough only being standard double beds but thats just me as I'm used to bigger beds.There were occasional power cuts but I thin they were due to the weather more than anything and power was resumed shortly after.The main pool can get quite noisy in the afternoon with the activities and we rarely visited this pool and opted for the quieter pool which was nice. At no point did we struggle to find a sunbed and they always seemed to be availability no matter what time of day.We only visited the buffet for main meals and had no issues with finding things to eat and the quality of the food. The snack bar was nice both pizzas and the chicken nuggets.Only visited the beach a couple of times which was nice, my only issue was with the number of boats and the relatively small swimming area as its roped off preventing you from swimming out further.All the staff were nice and friendly and could not do enough for you, Although spanish is there first language I never had a problem communicating with them. There were always staff cleaning and carrying out maintenance at all times of the day.It was a very nice stay and I would happily return to this hotel again without a seconds thought.

Great Resort

We really loved out stay and everything was beautiful. Food was good and the staff was amazing. The only thing I'm upset about is my underwater camera is missing. I know I packed it and I found the gear that goes to it but, the camera is gone. I got home and unpacked all my things but, no camera. I didn't even get a chance to use it. I really hope no one was in my room rummaging through our things but, my camera is gone. Everything was good except for the pushy sellers who were lying about prices and giving everyone different prices on things such as excursions and photos. I would recommend using US money because you'll get confused over the different peso rates that change daily. I want my camera back.
