Our Opinion
The IFA Villas Bavaro is a good resort for those couples looking to to relax in Punta Cana. The resort is very big, so this is great for those who don't mind walking around to explore the resort. However, they do offer shuttle services. The villas are the farthest from the beach and main resort area, so try to request and book rooms in the village area. The rooms might be a bit outdated. However, unless you're looking to spend a majority of your time indoors, it doesn't necessarily take away from the experience. There are plenty of buffet items to choose from and four a la carte restaurants. Good staff. Be advised that there is a charge if you're wanting to do a late check-out.

Went to this hotel in May 17, lots to do, rooms nice and clean and cleaned and fresh towels every day, food was okay, pizza bar was really good beach fantastic. Would defo go again, I found the staff very polite and friendly, clean beach towels daily. All in all loved it xx

Just came back from a 2 week stay at IFA with my girlfriend. We were both anxious about going after reading some reviews but don't believe them. The resort is huge and the grounds are stunning and very well maintained. The only language barrier we had whilst there was with the maid (there was a day whilst it was raining and we decided to stay in the room and it was hard to tell her we wernt bothered about having the room cleaned). Everyone else was absolutely fine, the reception were great with us, especially Jhordin. The maids came every day and there was only one day were they didn't leave us any water in the fridge but I rang reception and someone arrived within minutes. Some people mentioned that the maids only came late in the evening but if you want them to come at a specific time just speak to your rep or reception. What made the holiday for us was the Animacion team. They could speak a variety of languages to make sure everyone was involved and they were the best entertainment team I've experienced on a holiday. The entertainment are there all day right through to the night and the work they put in needs recognition. Especially the guy Coco (looks like Paul pogba) he's unreal give the guy a pay rise. I would definitely go back again just for the entertainment. The only negative I would say is the breakfast is really repetitive which made us stop having breakfast towards the end but what do you expect with all inclusive? The pizza bar and a la carte's are all really nice especially the Japanese. Definitely worth a visit if your thinking about it

Don't hesitate based on the reviews!!

I traveled with my husband and 5 other friends to IFA for 5 nights on Oct. 8-13th. I love to read reviews before I travel and was a bit confused on such difference in opinions on the resort. It seemed to be a love it or hate it opinion, with no consistency. We booked, knowing that we could make the best of any situation. I feel like a lot of reviews critized the staff on not being able to speak English. We NEVER ran into that issue! Some are more limited than others, but thats to be expected. I was expecting check in to be a bad experience based on other reviews, but we were greeted with 3 smiling faces and no language barrier. We booked the Superior room (room #4618) and was very impressed. The rooms were very clean and the beds are comfortable. At first we thought that the water from the shower leaked under the door, but realized on the last day that the shower head was completely adjustable in height on the hinges! Problem solved! The air conditioning worked great, and was so nice on humid day. Housekeeping came everyday, brought clean towels, and left us extra water or towels when we asked.The beach is stunning! If you have a complaint about it, then you probably also hate rainbows and puppies. :) Always plenty of chairs and a short walk to the beach bar for a drink refill or lunch. The pools are very nice and and had a fun atmosphere. We ate at the Asain restaurant and returned to the Mexican restaurant twice! The pizza bar is AMAZING! We could have ate there every meal! Drinks were always cold and the bartenders are willing to make you anything you ask for. (Bring your Yeti tumblers! They don't mind to fill them up! Less trips for you and less work for them! Not to mention they keep your drinks cold while on the beach!)We booked a fun booze cruise excursion through a guy named Diego that works on the property, but not part of the hotel staff. He was really nice and gave us a great deal! I don't really have anything negative to say. My only suggestions would be to provide wash cloths and start dinner reservation times earlier to accommodate more people. And believe me, those 2 things are not going to ruin a vacation! Ha!And just a reminder, YOU are the foreigner. You are visiting somewhere where English is not their first language and their food may not be cooked or seasoned the way you are used to. These people work their butts off and do a great job! So keep an open mind, tip generous, and enjoy your experience! Extra Special thanks to ALL the beach bar bartenders, Wilton, Juan, and Valeria! Outstanding!

First holiday on our own

Stayed 25th Sept till 5th oct on first impressions hotel is amazing very impressed with grounds and quality of security on show 24hrs a day.Food and room of which was one of the bungalows were great a little slow on the service in the bars as they either don't understand you or are to busy flirting with the girls/boys who speak there language restaurant staff work hard and are always on top of cleaning and refilling drinks glasses.Reception staff are a waste of space don't bother complaining to them as they either don't bother or send someone 24 hrs later when you have had to sort it yourself in the end overall thou the place is beautiful flamingos are amazing will defiantly return one day lets just hope the reception staff are more helpful next time around.Oh and don't put your mobile phone by your room card as it wipes it and you end up going back to reception to get it re-programmed.

Lovely hotel very very poor service

So I am currently staying in the IFA. One arrival the grounds look lovely. The pools are nice and the resort is nice. First i will start with the check in process....Quick check in only to be given all the info in Spanish. Asked 3 times for English and each time given the same info on every language but English. The language barrier is hard work. Go to the rooms the room is nice and spacious looks lovely and clean and the bed one of the best I've slept in. Make the most of your clean room and stocked mini fridge as this will probably be the only day its done. We have now been here 9 days the room has been cleaned 3 times and the mini fridge stocked 3 times. I'm not fussed about the beer but the water would be handy. Towels also only changed 3 times. Spoke to guest services and reception on 3 occasions now for them to tell us it will be sorted and still nothing done. Now for the restaurants. There should be 4 A la cartes but the Italian on the beach is closed although out thomas cook rep failed to inform us of this at the welcome meeting. The 3 that are open are very good though. The buffet is awful absolutely full of flies only eaten here for break fast. The only thing that makes that bareable is the man making the eggs and omelette in the morning hes is fab and the best member of staff here also maximus on reception is very very good.Staff attitude here well quite frankly its poor. Very unhelpful and do absolutely nothing about any issues you have and seem like they cant really be bothered.It's a shame as this place has the makings of a five star but without staff training and interest it wont happen. Definately would not return here!
