IFA Villas Bavaro
- What's Included
- All Inclusive Features
Our OpinionThe IFA Villas Bavaro is a good resort for those couples looking to to relax in Punta Cana. The resort is very big, so this is great for those who don't mind walking around to explore the resort. However, they do offer shuttle services. The villas are the farthest from the beach and main resort area, so try to request and book rooms in the village area. The rooms might be a bit outdated. However, unless you're looking to spend a majority of your time indoors, it doesn't necessarily take away from the experience. There are plenty of buffet items to choose from and four a la carte restaurants. Good staff. Be advised that there is a charge if you're wanting to do a late check-out.
Location: Beachfront, 45 minutes to Higuey, 20 minutes from the airport.
The place is huge. I knew it was big, but when we arrived we got placed in the furthest area from beach and everything possible. We asked to change rooms to closer, but they said they didn't have any and told us to come back another day. In those couple of days we realised how well managed it is and the fact that it's far means nothing. There are little cars driving around the area and taking people to reception or beach every 7 minutes so we ended up not changing rooms. Food was ok in buffet, great in pizzeria, we really ended up eating there. Staff was great well, helpful and smiling all the time.Only thing i didnt like is the markets and how they make you buy with very overpriced prices. It was 8 times more expensive than the same stuff in the airport for example and they just try to use you to get more money out of you. And in general makes you feel uncomfortable. I understand that it's normal in the country but it's a bit much in the hotel area when we are going to eat and you have to pass them, no other way, and they make you stop there. That was really the only downside.Oh and water disappeared one day in the room, but was fixed the same day while we were away in the pool.Special thanks for room cleaners! Very friendly and good at what they do.Overall, its a cozy hotel, it's alright if you are not looking for something fancy, and for this price i think it's great. Would definitely come back again.
This was our first holiday in the D R @ IFA Villas. The resort was very pleasant clean and tidy. The staff are very friendly and happy to help great friendly cleaning staff.Food was good and the a Le cart restaurants was good caribe was the best fillet steak a must try. The only thing that was a let down was the manager going round pushing towels of the balcony saying it's the rules no drying towels there.
We traveled to the DR and stayed @ IFA Villa 12 May to 18 May. Overall, our stay was very pleasant and we give a HUGE thumbs up on cleanliness as we saw the crew out cleaning every single day, all day. The staff was super friendly with the exception of the pizza parlor place at Pikaloo. Every time my wife and I went there, we received terrible service. The waitresses there were always frowning and VERY slow to cater, if at all. There were several times that we just went to the bar ourselves. The staff at all of the other eateries/restaurants were beyond friendly and helpful and did their best to speak English to us. The hotel is currently undergoing renovations as listed in previous reviews but the noise wasn't bothersome at all. We stayed in the Superior Room and it was really nice overall although we could have used a softer bed. The tv service wasn't very good for those mornings that you wanted to rest up for the days adventures. The maid service also came at different times every day, sometimes in the early evenings. If you are considering staying here, beware of the local vendors that they allow on the premises several times a week as they will hound you to no end trying to get you to buy. Loved how close it was to the beach! Only about a 4 minute walk to the beach. I also purchased the internet for the week that we were there so we could stay in touch with our kiddos back home in the states and the service was pretty terrible! Out of the 7 days there we had intermittent service 2 days and complaining to the internet guy does absolutely nothing, so save your money. There is also no self service laundry area. The hotel offers a safe key but you have to pay for the key on a day to day basis in order to secure your valuables. We had a great time celebrating our 10 year anniversary but we would be reluctant to stay here again.
We had a very nice relaxing time. Staff was wonderful and kept us smiling. Is there one that was there in the past per weeks that might have a picture of the sweet, older gentleman that made the omelettes every morning? We sincerely enjoyed him and our photo did not turn out. We did wish there was more information about what shows were happening each night so we could better plan our evenings. Thanks in advance for any photo you might have!
We went from 5-7-17 to 5-13-17. It was my parents, my boyfriend, and I. I gave the resort 3 stars because it was a nice hotel and we still had a good time, but I would not come back to this resort personally. Airport: We found an employee to take our bags and lead us to the Vacation Express booth and we glided through everyone which was nice. We got to the Vacation Express booth and got our transportation to the hotel ( we bought the private transfer for $99 extra. We liked that better because we didn't have to wait long and had our own van).. Also we didn't know this, but there is a $10 fee to enter and they only accept cash.Hotel: We arrived after 3:00 and our rooms weren't ready. They told us it would be another 30 minutes. We didn't mind and ended up going to the buffet to eat lunch (I will talk about the food later). Got into our rooms and they were nice rooms. We were in the Superior Double Room. We thought we would be next to each other, but my parents were on the first floor and we were on the second floor in the same building. We didn't mind, but if you get the double room just know that you may not be next to each other. Our rooms were newly done. There were 2 "queen" sized beds. I say "queen" because they did not seem queen sized. My boyfriend and I had to sleep in separate beds the whole vacation (and so did my parents) because it wasn't enough room. (my boyfriend has a queen size bed at home and we sleep well in it with a lot of space).. The room next to my parents flooded and made their room smell horrible (almost made my boyfriend puke walking into it) It was at the end of our vacation and seemed pointless to move rooms for 2 days... They had vendors set up in the resort one night so they hounded you when you walked by to buy their stuff. Housekeeping: Out of the 6 nights we were there our room got cleaned fully I think 3 times. My parents rooms got cleaned twice and that was after they called the front desk about it. A few times only put towels on our bed but didn't clean anything else. They always came to our room 6:30 or later to clean the room which was in convenient because that's usually when we were showering and getting ready for dinner.Food: This was the worst part of the vacation. We didn't like the restaurants after we went to them we ended up going to the buffet to eat. Breakfast was the same stuff every day. Thank goodness for the guy that made fried eggs and omelets fresh. I ate them every morning and they were so good. The pizzeria by the pool was good. But sometimes the guy working the grill part would give you fries/ hamburgers that had been sitting out and not fresh. The buffet by the beach was good. They served pretty much the same food everyday but the grill made fresh chicken breast/ veil/ hamburgers. We were so happy to be home to get actually good food.Pool: We were by the pool that had the swim up bar. The bartender for the swim up bar was awesome. We kept asking him to make our drinks strong and he would without hesitation. One thing we didn't like is they were doing construction on the building right next to the pool, so all day you would just hear sawing/ hammering/ ect. so it wasn't really relaxing, but we did still enjoy our time by the pool. They had an entertainment team that came out at 3-7. They would play music and do activities (beer drinking contest, water polo, dancing, horse race, stuff like that) One thing I didn't like about that is the employees would play the music, but kept interrupting the song to say something just random stuff. I don't think they went one full song without talking pretty much the whole time. My boyfriend and I did participate in some of the activities and it was fun!Beach: The beach was less than a 5 minute walk to the beach. It was a nice beach, but it is a public beach. There were a lot of small palm trees and the only shade on the beach so everyone was huddled around them. If you didn't get there early enough you weren't able to get any shade. As you laid on the beach people would come by trying to get you to buy excursions. You would say no and they still kept talking for 10 minutes trying you to buy something. They would finally walk away and not even 5 minutes later someone else would come up trying to sell you the same excursions. It was really annoying. But we took out the canoes and snorkeled and it was awesome. We saw a lot of fish when we snorkeled and some fish got really close to us. Submarino Excursion: We did buy this excursion for $99 a person. We left at 7:30am and got back after 6pm. Took an 1 1/2 buss ride to another beach (the Caribbean side). Got off the buss and people were trying to sell you their products. Got on a submarine and went under and saw 2 types of fish and saw a sunken ship (the water was so clear). We then went snorkeling and barely saw fish at all. We saw more fish on our beach than here. Took another boat over to a sandbar and drank rum and coke or just coke and took pictures with starfish. Then we got on a speed boat for about 10 minutes to the island. Took about a 10 minute walk and we ate ( i didn't like the food and was happy I brought Cheetos) and then got to spend 2 hours at the beach. It was soo beautiful! But again people kept coming up to you every 2 minutes to get you to buy a massage or to buy their product. They had someone taking your photos the whole trip and even did couple photos on the beach. They were $65 for all the photos. I didn't want all of them and only wanted about 5 and the guy told me it would be $10 a photo. When I told him I didn't want them then. he was rude about it... anyways we then got on a sail boat and sailed back to the buss which took about 2 hours. Everyone relaxed on the hammocks, danced, and drank. It was nice.Deep Sea Fishing: My boyfriend wanted to go deep sea fishing, so we asked around for the cheapest one. It ranged from $90-$125 a person. We finally found someone that really wanted us to buy it from him that he said he would do it for $130 for both of us. He told us we would get on right there at the beach and they would bring us back to the beach. Nope we got there and we had to get in a van and drove to the place. It was a 4 hour excursion and we only caught 2 fish. There were 4 of us and the other 2 people we were with were the ones that got to reel in the fish. My boyfriend and I didn't get to, so we paid $130 to basically sit on a boat for 4 hours and watch them. It wasn't worth the money honestly.Nightly entertainment: They had the chill out bar you could go to and every night at 9:45 they had a show you could watch. we only went once to see the show and it was singing and dancing. Nothing great, but something to do.We still had a good time and made the best of it and it was a nice hotel and the employees for the most part were so nice. I personally would not come back to this resort though. I hope this review helped!
