Our Opinion

The Majestic Colonial Punta Cana is a wonderful resort for families and couples looking for a great stay in Punta Cana. While the food options aren't the best (there are far better options at other resorts). However, if you're looking for a place that has some of the nicest beaches, oceans, private pools, beds and top-notch service, this is definitely the resort to check out. Those who opt for the colonial club option get the opportunity to check out private pools and swim-up bars. Those who visit this resort will definitely have a pleasant stay!

Overview
The luxurious Majestic Colonial Punta Cana is the perfect mix of sun, sand and fun. An amazing pool, friendly service and an expansive beach area was just a few of the features that make this resort truly majestic!

Location: Beachfront resort located on Arena Gorda & 30 minutes from Punta Cana airport.

Excellent stay with superior service

I just wanted to take a moment to give a good word to our most recent stay at the Majestic Colonial. From reception to check out, the staff was most wonderful and courteous. We were made to feel at home most immediately with the personal tour of the grounds and the prompt delivery of our bags. Although we arrived a few hours early, we were taken care of most expeditiously and with care as though we were arriving family. This was our first attempt at an all-inclusive vacation and we were not left wanting. Reservations at exclusive restaurants were easy to come by, and resort buffets offered an awesome selection. I couldn't have stayed another day for fear of excessive weight gain!Of particular note, I have to mention the staff at the palapla (beach bar). Yury immediately made us feel like family and the feeling lasted the entire stay. His attention, along with that of Denny was nothing less than impeccable. They were attentive, caring and responsible. It was easy to tell they cared for the well being of all their guests. They, near singularly, made the stay most desirable.Gracias from Amber, Alex and CJ

Loved it!

Great place! I have no complaints on a single feature. The entertainment crew is top notch and worked to make sure that everyone enjoyed their vacation. But on the same hand, if you didn't need them to entertain you, they left you alone! The shows were great. Food was good, especially the Japanese restaurant and the steak at the French restaurant, but I would've been fine eating the buffet all week, too. I would highly recommend booking this resort!

5 Night Stay In February

This was our first trip to the DR. We had a Colonial Club room, upon check-in we were brought to a lounge area with drinks and snacks and waited for someone to bring us to the Colonial Club lounge area. Then our butler Antonio brought us to our room. We had champagne, liquor, beer, and a fruit plate in our room upon arrival. Our room was on the ground floor, it felt like we had our own private "yard" with a little sitting area. Nice, big room. Big shower and a Jacuzzi. One thing I wished for was more outlets, there are some near the beds but none in the bathroom area. Advice about food: With the colonial club you can eat breakfast at the French restaurant. This is decent, but you can also order room service breakfast for free. This is the BEST option! The American breakfast delivered to your room, it was very good and we ate it outside in the fresh air. Much nicer than sitting in the French restaurant that early in the morning. That is what we preferred to do. Our favorite dinners were the Beach Barbeque, Japanese Restaurant, and then French. I hate to say it, but the Mexican restaurant was really really bad. None of us ate our meals. For lunch we always did the lunch buffet down by the beach. Everything you could want, decent/ average. We discovered later on that you can eat at the restaurants at the adjoining Majestic resorts, but didn't end up doing it.Advice about drinks : You can get top shelf liquor everywhere! Just ask for it. We drank a lot of grey goose! As far as the signature drinks go - we really enjoyed the Majestic. It tastes like a creamsicle. The cups are small, but you can always go back for more and it's all included! Tips will get you heavier pours, and if the bartenders see you sometimes they will serve you before the others if you have tipped them. Giving a $5 at the beginning of the day will give you great service all day! We recommend visiting KEILI up on the top floor bar near the concierge. She is so sweet and she's great! Tips about pools: We never had trouble getting one of the beds at the colonial club pools. The colonial club towels are huge, and they have sunblock available for your use for free. At the ocean we tipped our bartender and he delivered drinks to our chairs all afternoon (even bringing two beers at a time for each of the guys). Although we were colonial club members, we spent a lot of time at the "main" pool. They had events like drinks served in coconuts, nets to play ball in the pool, paddleboard races, music, foam party, it was really fun. The colonial club pools are more low key, so it was nice to have our options.

Fantastic Vacation

My friend and I stayed at the Majestic Colonial Resort (Colonial Club side) from March 8-13. Upon arrival at the resort, our bags were immediately stored for us and we were offered a cool towel to freshen up with and then escorted to the Colonial Club check-in area where we were greeted with champagne and snacks. We were offered several upgrade options during the check-in process and we opted to upgrade to a swim up room. Since the butler that was there waiting to take us to our room would no longer be our butler because of the upgrade, we waited a few moments for our newly assigned butler, Yeferson, to show us around the resort and take us to our room. We knew the moment we met Yeferson that he would take great care of us! Yeferson and the rest of the Colonial Club team were amazing. Georgi was especially very helpful when we needed to make last minute dinner reservations. The resort is very well maintained and there are always people working on the property to keep it clean and beautiful. The entertainment staff works so hard to engage the guests and to keep everyone entertained throughout the day and night! Man they work long hours! We quickly made friends with "Coca Cola", Jeffry, "Mini Me", Heriberto, and Amy. We enjoyed the beach activities with them and their evening entertainment too. The room set up is a bit odd and provides little privacy for changing or for using the in room tub. The shower head was great and the shower was very roomy. The toilet area is extremely small and cramped. We had a few mosquitos in the room so I put on bug spray at night before bed. The room felt roomy even with adding an extra twin bed. The food at the resort was hit or miss. It took a few days to find what the best options were. Caribbean lobster is different from Maine lobster and that took some adjusting. We were excited to try the Japanese and Mexican restaurant but left disappointed. The French restaurant was excellent for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Service at the breakfast buffet near the beach was always awesome. Be sure to try the dish of the day that is cooked on the beach in the huge pan. I only tried the seafood paella and it was delicious. I was not able to fully enjoy the Colonial Club lounge because the fragrance used was really strong and unpleasant to me. The pools on the club side were relaxing and the cabanas were very comfortable. As other reviewers have mentioned, claim them early in the morning. Cesar at the towel hut was very sweet and spoke highly of the resort and shared his goal of being promoted to the butler team one day. One of the bartenders at the pool near building 3 was not very friendly. There was a tall and slimmer built bartender that would walk around and engage with the guests but the shorter and bigger built guy (maybe Marcos or I could have their names confused) was pretty moody and slow to serve. I definitely recommend upgrading to Club, better amenities all the way around. I would definitely return but am interested in trying out the other Majestic properties too. If Yeferson is still at the Colonial during our next trip to the DR, we will stay there again because of his great hospitality!
