Our Opinion

The Majestic Colonial Punta Cana is a wonderful resort for families and couples looking for a great stay in Punta Cana. While the food options aren't the best (there are far better options at other resorts). However, if you're looking for a place that has some of the nicest beaches, oceans, private pools, beds and top-notch service, this is definitely the resort to check out. Those who opt for the colonial club option get the opportunity to check out private pools and swim-up bars. Those who visit this resort will definitely have a pleasant stay!

The luxurious Majestic Colonial Punta Cana is the perfect mix of sun, sand and fun. An amazing pool, friendly service and an expansive beach area was just a few of the features that make this resort truly majestic!

Location: Beachfront resort located on Arena Gorda & 30 minutes from Punta Cana airport.

Beautiful property

The grounds of this property are extremely well maintained and beautiful. When I was there I saw a few people who had obviously been over-served and were so intoxicated that they literally fell down and couldn't stand back up. :( That was uncomfortable to watch. The staff was friendly and helpful. The beach was nice and relaxing.

Colonial Club -- Overall "okay", but Lower Your Expectations

Majestic Colonial ReviewMy husband and I are in Punta Cana celebrating our 6th year wedding anniversary (12 together). We booked Majestic Colonial Club based on many many reviews, so I'm returning the favor. First let me say, right from the beginning, this is NOT A FIVE OR FOUR STAR Resort. It is a 'nice' resort. Now, allow me to put the 3 Stars into perspective....I'm only going to review the important stuff: checkin, accommodations and foodCheckin - CHAOTIC Upon arrival you are dropped into this open unairconditioned sea of people reception area and not given any instructions. After you stand there a couple minutes looking bewildered, just start to ask questions (speaking Spanish will help you), then you'll eventually get to that Colonial Club checkin room. When you arrive at the promised land, then you'll be given a cold beverage, Colonial Club bracelet and snacks. Don't overindulge because you'll be eating these same snacks for your entire stay, in every dining hall at every restaurant. Suggestion- Since Majestic PRIDES itself on this Colonial Club "Exclusive" experience, you should have a little stand or a Colonial Club representative to greet people immediately at the curb where they are being dropped off. The Colonial Club guests should not have to stand and wait around and figure things out. There should be a ushered straight back to the Colonial Club checkin. When you leave the main area you'll be taken to the Colonial Club building reception area where you'll await your butler. In this area, you'll have the same snacks as in the checkin area in the main building. Butler - We were assigned Joan, who wasn't worth crap. We've been here five days so far and I've seen butlers chase down their guests to assure that they didn't need anything. We only haphazardly bumped into our butler as he was giving other people the 'I got you sucker' tour. Our anniversary was 17th and our butler did nothing special. We didn't even see him. I've seen other butlers decorate the room, set up private dinners, bring wine and flowers. Joan -- NOTHING! Suggestion- Do yourself a favor and request ANYONE except Joan (Pronounced Johan)Room- Well, let's start with the good things. The shower is huge and the overall space is adequate. The jacuzzi is located in the middle of the room, so be sure to travel with someone close to you. There is enough space to accommodate two people. We have a king size and pool view -- beautiful. Horrible - Baby roaches. I took a short video. If I can post I will. Now, if you have never been to a 5 Star resort, then you will step into to room like, "this is really nice", but if you have, then you're more like, "this is some budget bull*^%#". There is obvious wear all over the room from the dingy / hard towels, crusty bathrobes to the scratched up / broken furniture. However, all of that can be remedied, BUT ROACHES UNFORGIVABLE. Every morning they were crawling in the vanity area. I have lived out of my suitcase because I am afraid to display my toiletries as normal for fear of a baby roach getting into my travel bag (and traveling back to my home). The bed is comfortable enough, but the duvet is stained and the drapery is dirty. They kept the refrigerator well stocked each day. However, the fridge doesn't get really cold, more like cool. If you are claustrophobic then book somewhere else because sitting on the toilet will send you into a panic attack. The toilet sits separately from the shower. Literally, all that can fit is the toilet and you on the toilet. Hotel Suggestions- You need to order new linens, fumigate, repair anything in disrepair and replace broken furniture. Guests- Request to be in rooms in the 3220's on the second floor. If you do, you'll be half way to the beach and main eating hall / restaurants. Request a pool view because sitting on the balcony is a good site when you don't really feel like being bothered. Pool- I know the internet makes it seem as it there is a lazy river, but it's not. For starters, there is no current so you're going nowhere. Secondly, the pool is only the length of the building running alongside parallel. It's about 3ft deep, that's it. If you're looking for a REAL swimming pool, this isn't the place. Even the bigger pool, on the family side is the same depth. Hot tubs -- There are none. The only hot tub on the premise is in your room (but it's actually a jetted tub) and in the spa (for a fee). Cabanas - If you want one on the Colonial Club side the. You better get up early and set your cabana up to reserve it for the day. Although, technically you aren't supposed to, but it's the way of the people. If you don't, you'll be cabanaless. There are only 10 or so and the prime spots are the first 5 where you can see the bar. Although, there are plenty of lounge chairs. Beach - BEAUTIFUL to watch. The beach has very little seaweed and rocks. However, the waves are almost too strong to engage the beach. This side of the island is the Atlantic Ocean so it's very very choppy. The other side of the island is the Caribbean Sea where the water is very calm. You will not be jet skiing or doing any water activities in these waters. It's actually illegal. Suggestion - If you want a spot on the beach with a hut then you'd better get up early and go down and lay your towel on your chairs. If not, you'll bake in the sun until late afternoon. Guest Suggestions - Bring floats, bring your own cup that keeps drinks cold, take sheets from the room and put them on the cabanas (there is no covering on them and there vinyl). I see people laying towels on them, but I made ours up like a bed every day. I put sheets on the cabana, covered the slanted pillow and put case on the cabana pillows. Everyone knew it was ours by the end... Swim Up Bar - Artelis is the best bartender although Raphael is nice. Artelis makes the best drinks. She is very accommodating and goes out of her way to be hospitable. She gets popcorn and remembers what you like. Main Bar in the Lobby - Odalis is the man! Food - OMG the absolute worst! They serve the same variation of the same menu everywhere you go. On the second day, I was over the food. Just don't expect a lot of anything especially taste. The food is served bland. You can survive, but you won't be asking for any recipes. Restaurants - We went to the Mexican / Spanish, yuk. The best thing about that experience is that the waiter noticed how dissatisfied we were and asked what would like, I said shrimp and he brought out a plate of grilled shrimp (not on the menu). DELICIOUS!! Made my evening...Japanese Restaurant - A must go for the experience Seafood Restaurant - (Doubles as a Steakhouse) Served the biggest lobsters. Once we found this restaurant we ate here for the rest of our stay. They served seafood, huge lobsters and you can eat as much as you want. The same thing happened in the main eating hall. A chef brought me out a plate of grilled shrimp not being served. Suggestion - Make a friend with a waiter / chef, have low expectations, bring your own snacks*****Note*****1. You can't drink the water (you can only wash in the water) Club gives ample bottled water2. Stay away from the dairy (milk is not pasteurized) 3. Mostly pork on the menu4. Bring your own mug for drinks5. Expedia provides free transportation about town (booming through Hotwire goes through Expedia) 6. Expedia - offers automatic upgrade on the second trip 7. Book Club, if you aren't traveling with kids, but there will be children at the resort8. Room service horrendous (food comes wrapped in Saran Wrap grossWe are leaving tomorrow, Thurs. Oct. 20th...

Awesome Resort with Amazing Service

We are an African American Lesbian Couple. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Jose was my butler and he was absolutely fantastic. He checked on us daily to find if there was anything he could assist us with. He made our reservations in a timely and efficient manner. He collaborated with my girlfriend to surprise me for my birthday . He decorated our room with rose petals, balloons, a cake and champagne. We enjoyed the hibachi we went there twice. The main breakfast buffet was good. The lunch buffet at Rodeo Grill was the best. The main dinner buffet was OK. My lobster tails and spaghetti were consistently overcooked there. If you are utilizing the Colonial Club the pool closest to the beach has a bartender IDK her name she has beautiful dimples and her drinks are THEE best. The entertainment staff is very friendly. The Michael Jackson tribute and circus show were great. The casino is functional. All in all A+ all around.

Great experience

We just got back from a great vacation week. We upgraded to the Colonial Club and it was really nice and convenient. But the highlight of our stay was thanks to the entertainment team, Marc, Luis(coca cola), Doris "la flacks", Eimy, Naomi, Jefri, Colita, Condorito, y Masa. They were like family soon after we met. I deeply appreciate that they made every effort for us to have a good time. I also want to say a big thank you to FRANCISCO, our concierge, for taking such good care of us. And last but not least, thumbs up to everyone at the poolside bar for such a good job with our drinks and for always having a big bright smile on their faces!!
