Majestic Elegance Punta Cana

A top-notch choice for those wanting a romantic getaway. The resort is tended by incredibly exceptional staff. The rooms are modern, elegant, and well-maintained. Make sure to request a suite with a swim-up room and jacuzzi. OK buffet options; great a la carte restaurants as well. If you're looking for something really fancy, make sure to check out the steakhouse and Italian restaurants. The grounds are immaculate. However, there have been some issues with various pool areas. The tiles have a tendency to come loose and litter the poolside area. This does not take away from your stay however. Overall, a great choice for those looking to stay in Punta Cana.
We recently went to PC for a destination wedding and the resort is nice. We've been to other resorts in the past that were better maintained and offered superior service. The rooms here are beautiful and most of the grounds/pools are as well. The beach is nothing more than gorgeous and warm and exactly what one would expect for a beach vacation. That's the good... the bad and ugly.... We upgraded our room to the VIP Excellence Suites which gives all kinds of perks like golf, full bottles of alcohol in your room, private adults only pools and butler service... on paper... this all looks fabulous. However, our butler service did not include getting an iron in the room until at least 4 requests only to be lied to about the iron arriving as requested. You cannot get your butler to switch out the full size booze to your liking.. you cannot ask for full bottles of wine to be in your room nightly on a whim... you can expect the butler to never be reachable, you can expect no a lot to what you want to plan and do, you can expect to wait and wait at check in (although in their VIP suite) and you can expect the maids to remove your "luxury" robes two days prior to you leaving the resort. You also can expect to not be able to get a clean beach towel anywhere on the resort except VIP pools. The room upgrade was worth it for the VIP lounges and the adults only pools but their "service" is to be desired and I wouldn't hold very high hopes. The rooms are very nice and beds are comfortable. We didn't have a working TV the first night but maintenance fixed that pretty quickly and above the Jacuzzi tub there was a lot of mold but I think it's hard to keep that under control anywhere with the humidity (I could be wrong). The pools at this resort need significant updating as there are broker tiles in every single pool and the tiles are sharp and will cut you. The food is just "okay" but I think that's also to be expected at these resorts since they always try to "Americanize" the meals to make everyone happy. We did leave the resort for the wedding and the food off the resort I'll crave for the rest of my life! It was incredible! The shows are just "okay" also at this resort but that is because it's family friendly so if you want shows that are more adult/risky you'll want to book a resort that is adults only. This is our last trip to PC as there is a whole world out there to explore but if we did come back here again we would not book this resort. They do have another resort attached to this one (two actually) The Majestic Mystic seemed to be much more updated/newer and had much nicer grounds, pools, lounging areas. Maybe we'd book that one since this is the side of the island you want to be on to enjoy the ocean without red flags.
We were most anticipating this trip for our 2 year anniversary celebration especially reading all the awesome reviews. My husband took the elegance package (a must) otherwise hotel is average at best. Get to the hotel guess what!!! They didn’t have that we took elegance club. Hubby calls sunwing right away pays again (the hotel had the rooms available) but wanted to charge us an extra 75usd for a room we already paid for. So now that we paid and its on bill from sunwing guess what??? They refused to give us the room . It was 2pm so not like arriving at 1am. My husband called sunwing for the next 4 hours who assured us we paid and have the elegance club however the hotel made excuse after excuse and didn’t give us the room. I bet if we paid them we would have had it right away. Listen majestic elegance we paid you saw our booking and your unprofessional internal policies have nothing to do with with the poor guest and we should not suffer because of it. You had rooms but refused to give it to us. You also did not get the sunwing rep for us who we learned was at the hotel while this was happening Which we found out later. Unprofessional staff!!! After all the arguing i ask ok fine we will get the room tomorrow at least give me the bracelet so i can enjoy the services of what we paid for... also a big fat NO!!! We were promised our room at 9am the next morning only got the room at 2pm. The names of the employees who refused to give us the room that was available was Adam and Cristobal. The next day our butler Victor came to get us and all was good. Had our new room close to the beach and our new bracelets.Restaurants... we enjoyed all except japanese. French and italian were our favorite Beach ... very beautiful no rocks Loved the private elegance section no crowding at all and that is exactly what we wanted!Room... amazing hot tub bed so so comfy and room is looking datedStaff with the exception of front desk the staff is warm friendly and ready to please big hugs to Victor our butler who surprised us throughout our stay.Buffet.... huge much selectionDrinks.... excellent not water down at allEntertainment... good fun no complaints also loved live music in main lobbyRoom service... 45 minute wait they have a problem with cappuccino machines being broken... if you are a coffee lover you willl understand...suggestion please replace the outdated little machines in rooms with keurig... no one makes coffee like that anymore...Would I return? I’m unsure it’s alot of money for what in my opinion is an average resort I’ve stayed at way better! If you don’t take elegance club you will surely be disappointed! This is an accurate review as I’ve been to over 50 places in the carribean.
My husband and I just returned from our 3rd trip to this wonderful hotel. The hotel is beautiful, the grounds are spotless, the beach is gorgeous, the food is good and the rooms are large and very clean. Unfortunately, when we were there, the buffet was closed for renovations, but we were able to go next door to the Mirage buffet. I personally didn't like it, the atmosphere was not the same, I didn't like the food and the staff seemed miserable. On the other hand, the staff at the Elegance are outstanding!! Some have been there for many years and seem to truly enjoy their jobs and love their guests!! Roberto at the lobby bar is amazing!! Angelina, Maxima and Rosa at the Elle pool bar are also amazing!! Our butler this time was Emmanuel, who did everything he could to make our stay enjoyable. They are all wonderful people and an asset to the hotel.Yes, of course there are things about the hotel that need updating. The upholstered furniture in the rooms needs refreshing, the Elle beach bathroom could be cleaned more often, the floor was always wet and sandy. I don't like the champagne they serve at the bars, I think it's awful. But honestly, these are little things, and make no difference to the overall wonderful experience you will have there. Go with an open mind and you will have a wonderful time!!! We love it so much we're returning in January!!!
A nice resort, bonus points for the following:Staff is friendly and (mostly) attentive (See below for comments)Clean and kept up (see below for additional comments)Personal touch including greeting banner on the doorGood locationCan't rate a 5 star for the following reasons:Constant drone of a tile saw daily at the Majestic Colonial, which is being rehabbed.Slow service in the pool/beach areas. Been to resorts in the Bahamas and Mexico and never had an empty drink.Landscape crew tracked mud on to the tile areas daily. Simple fix: mop it up.Surly front desk clerk: Went for change and asked to wait. Waited 20 minutes, then he completely forgot about me. Went back up to the desk and he asked what I wanted. Really? Tip: Make sure your $20 bills have NO markings or stamps. They won't accept them. The clerk says their money machine won't count them.
I can’t say enough about this paradise in the Dominican Republic. From the room with a jacuzzi to the private pool, it was heaven. Our butler took care of everything including restaurant reservations (there were 11 of us) and making sure we had every comfort in our room. He even filled our jacuzzi with bubbles and flower petals and served champagne. We were in the Elegance Club which has it’s own pool and lounge. There are several restaurants to choose from including the Japanese hibachi where they cooked the meal in front of you and entertained at the same time. We sampled nearly all the restaurants including the buffet. Omelettes and mimosas for breakfast! There is never a lack of good food. The staff is beyond friendly and helpful. We were served drinks on the beach and at the swim up bar. Dirty Monkeys were the best. My advice is to use the spa, bring good shoes (the place is huge) and enjoy the shows in the evening. We would go back in a heartbeat.
