Majestic Elegance Punta Cana

A top-notch choice for those wanting a romantic getaway. The resort is tended by incredibly exceptional staff. The rooms are modern, elegant, and well-maintained. Make sure to request a suite with a swim-up room and jacuzzi. OK buffet options; great a la carte restaurants as well. If you're looking for something really fancy, make sure to check out the steakhouse and Italian restaurants. The grounds are immaculate. However, there have been some issues with various pool areas. The tiles have a tendency to come loose and litter the poolside area. This does not take away from your stay however. Overall, a great choice for those looking to stay in Punta Cana.
We were greeted with a welcome drink as soon as we got out of the airport shuttle, and it set the tone for the rest of the week. (The drink was delicious - "the Majestic" - tastes like a creamsicle, and we ordered them with rum the rest of the week.) The staff could not have been more responsive and friendly. Our "junior suite" room was beautiful and the perfect size for a 5 day vacation. On day 4, there was a leak in the ceiling and we were afraid we would have to change rooms, but the maintenance crew fixed it within 45 minutes of our calling them. Even though we were toward the lobby side of the resort, the beach was only a 5 minute walk away. The sand and water were immaculate. The resort provided lounge chairs and shade huts were perfect. There is a roving server able to bring you drinks while you are lounging. I suggest tipping him or her well the first time she comes so that she comes back often. Each afternoon after we were done at the beach, we went to the pool, which was usually lively with some sort of entertainment (like dance parties or contests) happening around the "swim-up" bar in the middle of pool. Friendly for couples and singles of all ages. The other guests, almost all from the US and Canada, were very nice. We would eat lunch at the main buffet restaurant, which had a very wide selection - nothing to call home about, but always edible and filling. Each night we ate dinner at a different restaurant. The Italian restaurant was our favorite (try the goat cheese cannelloni) but all of the restaurants were fine (you don't go to these beach resorts for the food - everything was passable, nothing was amazing - except the fried chicken at the late-night snack place was actually amazing). The service was consistently great. We are very fond of the workers we met at the resort - including Nicolle, July, Felix, and Mayra - and we hope to come back soon. One more note: we were one of the few LGBT couples at the resort, but we never felt unwelcome or uncomfortable.
We travelled with our 1 year old baby, which wasn't without its stresses. Overall this resort is super accommodating and family friendly, while not being overly "family" in nature (a la Club Med). It maintains the feel of a higher end all-inclusive and I never felt stigmatized for having the baby with us, even during tantrums or messes at meals.Pros:-beautiful and well-maintained grounds-appreciated the expansive pool area. it made it so that we could camp out further from the "party" swim-up bar area where it was quieter-decent size, easy to get around, never a long walk to a bar, food, or bathroom-top shelf liquor is included!-very friendly staff-pretty good food! The theme nights at the buffet kept things interesting-talented entertainment crew. we spent a few nights out on the patio and the bands and singers they featured were great. our baby loved dancing!-the kids club / kiddie pool was nice. it didn't seem like many people were using it, but our baby enjoyed it!Cons / Heads Up:-the nighttime shows are loud! our room block was adjacent to the theater on the Colonial side, and every night from 9-11 I was kept awake and could clearly hear the whole show. It sounded great, and I was actually bummed to have missed them, but once we put baby to bed, we're kinda stuck in the room. Luckily the music didn't wake baby up!-the staff was a little overly friendly with the baby at times. While I was used to it by week's end, I feel parents should have a heads up to expect they may poke, kiss, and get a little up in baby's face. It was all well-intentioned, but took me off guard a bit. Plus there were some nights where my baby was already fussy and I think he would get over stimulated-this is more a result of just the tropics, but the room, and everything in it, is constantly moist. i felt like our clothes were always just a little damp. but we were on a beach vacation so no big deal-the shower in our room didn't seem to work properly. it would have been a nice deluxe feeling shower, with multi-directional sprays and rain shower head, but the knobs were hard to figure out, and the shower head seemed to only come on as a full fire-hose blast.- don't bother with the Japanese restaurant. as Hibachi's go, the food is pretty run of the mill, yet you go more for the show. However the chef didn't do any tricks, no shrimp-tossing or rice volcano! Haha I know its silly, but without that, you're just waiting for basic fried rice and stir-fry which you can eat at the buffet.-get used to hearing the phrase "yeah baby!" all the darn timeOverall, great trip. Would do it again, just adjusting expectations or being more vocal about certain aspects. I would probably have just asked for a room across the hall to potentially lessen the booming night music!
We stayed at the Majestic Elegance Feb 12 - 19.This was by far one of the nicest all inclusive resorts I've stayed at. Food was incredible, and drinks were great. Never watered down and they had a great selection of liquor.I highly recommend the hibachi restaurant (9 Doors) and the steak house.Make sure you make reservations the night before or the morning of if you'd like to dine at the Italian or Japanese restaurants. The beach was immaculate as was the pool. Never a dull moment at the swim up bar, especially when the entertainment team is around. Hector, Welkin, Roberto and Nadia were all fantastic from the animation team and they made us feel very at home. We'd also like to thank Jose Rene from the Steak House and our man Felix from the swim up bar for always keeping the drinks coming. We will definitely be visiting again.
We stayed at the Elegance for 2 weeks in January. This was our 4th visit to the Elegance and we were happy to see the familiar faces of the friendly staff as well as meet some new ones. Our first room was on the ground floor facing the service road, and not the pool view we had requested, but after 2 days, our butler moved us to the exact room we wanted with a wonderful view of the ocean and pool. One thing that has changed since the last time we were there is the level of service at the beach and the Elegance club pool. We used to have drink service all the time, with the servers coming by very consistently to fill our drinks, but this year we almost never saw them. With the exception of Angelina, that lady works so hard, running all over filling drink orders and joking with the guests, she was fantastic!!We were happy to see Francis at the Piano bar, he is the best bartender on the property, he always remembers what you like and is always friendly. Our butlers Mercedes and Junior did a fantastic job of making sure we had everything we needed to be comfortable and would check in on us to make sure we were enjoying our stay. I would highly recommend the elegance club, it is worth the extra money to stay in the adults only section and have a special area of the beach. As long as we were out around 8am we had no trouble fining a great spot on the beach or by the pool.We love our trips to the elegance and we are looking forward to visiting again.
I was completely overwhelmed by resort options in Punta Cana, but ended up choosing the Majestic Elegance for the VIP option, dining options and photos of the pool. This was a winter getaway for a close friend and me to escape the bitter cold winter. Everything exceeded my expectations. The first impression of the lobby was outstanding, and the VIP check-in was so welcoming and we did not have any delays. Orlando was our butler and he was wonderful, although we were so amazed, we didn't remember most of the tour or directions he gave us! He helped us make dinner and spa reservations while we waited for our luggage. The best part was that any time throughout the week we had a question or needed to contact him, he would just randomly show up. It was great! Our room was ready for us and clean and we did not want for anything the whole time we were there. Marisole was our maid, at least for a couple of the days, and she was so warm and friendly. She helped us out when we were struggling with our key, and by the next time we tried to get into our room, the issue was fixed. My friend and I had to experiment at the restaurants and buffet a bit to find our favorite dishes, but there was so much variety, it didn't take long. The staff at the buffet was outstanding and I loved how many made to order stations the had. I have never stayed at an all inclusive resort before, but if there are any misconceptions that drinks are not strong enough, that is NOT the case at the Majestic. The pool bars were great, and we had outstanding service every day. Our favorite bartenders by far were Carlitos in the lobby bar, and Sonia at 9 Doors. Sonia has a specialty shot that is a must try! Carlitos made us a very refreshing cocktail using a liquor we were interested in trying. He was also very patient while brushing up on some conversational Spanish. We went to the spa a couple of times for massages, and we were surprised that we needed to arrive an hour early. We found out it was to experience various relaxation and pool treatments before we even began our appointment. The facility is absolutely gorgeous and we were speechless about the entire experience - sauna, steam room, mineral room, aroma therapy room along with various pools and showers. It didn't seem possible to get more relaxed on this vacation, but the spa is a must. Ricardo was our guide as we went to the different areas of the spa, and he was so helpful and professional. We love everything about the pools and beach. There were always plenty of chairs or beds, depending on where we wanted to be.We met so many people who were repeat guests of the Majestic Elegance, and after going elsewhere, they kept coming back. We will definitely be returning next year, at the latest! The only thing that I would change for my next visit is making a reservation for a poolside room. Our room was a garden view.
