Our Opinion

A top-notch choice for those wanting a romantic getaway. The resort is tended by incredibly exceptional staff. The rooms are modern, elegant, and well-maintained. Make sure to request a suite with a swim-up room and jacuzzi. OK buffet options; great a la carte restaurants as well. If you're looking for something really fancy, make sure to check out the steakhouse and Italian restaurants. The grounds are immaculate. However, there have been some issues with various pool areas. The tiles have a tendency to come loose and litter the poolside area. This does not take away from your stay however. Overall, a great choice for those looking to stay in Punta Cana.

Restaurant iL Bottaccio

Excellent service. We had so much fun! Variety of restaurants from French cuisine to Sushi/Teppanyaki, unlimited buffet (loved Mexican night) and more. Our favorite restaurant was iL Bottaccio, Italian food, excellent service, great food (delicious lasagna) and out favorite part BRAUDY our waiter. The waiting staff was also great, Maria and friends. We went for dinner, breakfast a la carte and late dinner as well.

Could use help in the service department

I'll preface this and say we did end up enjoying the trip but there were a few times that the staff definitely dropped the ball in the service area. They ruined our first day by not having the room ready in an acceptable time even after we waited 4 hours for it. And when they repaired the leaking AC they ripped the ceiling apart and never cleaned up. The second time the AC leaked they never even showed up. And the amount of water we had to clean up took 6 towels so it was excessive. All in all the staff are nice but but when they have to stray from their predetermined course things go awry. The food is ok. You won't starve but it's not amazing. The best restaurant on property is hibachi. I'm uploading pics from our bad experiences as well as good. Even our bad experiences shouldn't keep you away, just don't expect 4 Seasons type service. We stayed in the elegance club section which doesn't allow children. The pool and beach cabanas are great.

Best vacation ever!

My girlfriends and I stayed for a week and absolutely loved this place! The staff was awesome as well as the food and entertainment. Our butler was great and the room always clean and stocked. We are definitely coming back!!!!!

Vacation Nightmare

This will probably be a long review, but I feel it's necessary to be thorough. First of all, I will preface by saying that my boyfriend and I stayed at the sister resort to Elegance in September of last year (Colonial), and had the most fantastic experience during our time there that we decided to revisit the Majestic resorts just one year later. When we booked in February, Colonial was unavailable during our travel dates due to renovations, which is how we ended up booking with Elegance. I will also preface by saying that our stay occurred September 3-8th, 2017 which coincided perfectly with Hurricane Irma's travels through the Caribbean, so perhaps some of our negative experiences can be attributed to distracted staff with a lot on their minds...we may never know. Now I'll start from the beginning. Upon check-in, there was already substantial confusion on behalf of the staff concerning our reservations. You see, I had booked 2 rooms under my name. One room for my mother, and a second room for my boyfriend and myself to share. The staff could not wrap their heads around who's luggage was going where and who's name is on what room etc. Finally I just told them to put everyone's suitcases in one room and we will just take care of it ourselves. This theme of confusion continued throughout the week every time we tried to provide a room number for dinner, or call the front desk for assistance (somehow after check-in, they moved everything to my boyfriends name???). The first 2 evenings, my boyfriend and I didn't get any sleep. This resort has 'eco friendly' motion sensors that control THE ENTIRE POWER to the room. This may sound like a really fantastic idea...until you go swimming for two hours and come back to find warm soda and melted chocolate in the refrigerator...or until you go to sleep and wake up a dozen times throughout the night in a soaked mess of sweaty sheets because the air conditioner shuts off if there is no movement in the room after 20 minutes. We had attempted to call our butler about it 4 times after the first miserable night but he never got back to us, rather than wait around and waste our vacation, we tried to make the best of it...the 2nd evening it got up to 96 degrees Fahrenheit in the room and I actually left the room to sleep in an outdoor cabana bed for a while because at least there was a breeze outside. We tracked down our butler after the second night and at first he tried telling us that it's normal for the air to shut off. I had to explain that I do in fact understand the premise behind this control system, but that it's not operating correctly (there should be a max temperature override that cycles the A/C regardless of if motion is detected or not, but once the air shut off in our room we had to manually press 'Power' on the thermostat to turn it back on...every 20 minutes, for 2 dang nights). Finally he agreed to have maintenance override the sensors in our room so the air conditioner will stay on...not even 1 hour later, we come back to our room to a notice that we are being evacuated out of our 1st floor swim-up suites, to be moved to higher floors in preparation for Irma (our butler hadn't even been notified yet when we talked to him an hour prior, that's how great the communication remained throughout the trip). Figuring it was late morning and a lot of people wouldn't be returning to their rooms for awhile, we packed our belongings and phoned the numbers provided on the notice. It took 7 times calling after getting transferred and dropped before they told us someone would be on the way...we then waited for 90 minutes before my boyfriend called to check on the status (these people don't take you seriously if you're a female). The receptionist was surprised no one had come to get us yet, he apologized to my boyfriend profusely, and sent someone to get us not 5 minutes later. The rooms we were relocated to were actually closer to the ocean, but on the 2nd floor. As mentioned, we had paid for 2-room swim-up suites, but the rooms we were moved into on the 3rd day were much smaller and the tiny balcony had an awful view of the demolition taking place at the resort next door. Workers were shoveling marble and concrete debris over the 2nd and 3rd floor railings onto the ground below, the noise and dust were ridiculous. Not to mention...gross, I didn't pay for a tropical vacation to be locked-down in a room like this. But hey, at least our air conditioner actually worked in this room. That night (Wednesday), was the evening that Irma was scheduled to blow past. We received a notice on the room doors at 5pm (the notice was time-stamped at noon, again, communication fail) that guests will be asked to not leave their rooms after 9pm and stay there in the morning until we receive a call that it is all-clear. That evening we did as asked and stayed in playing cards and turned in kind of early.I was startled awake at 1am to find that the ceiling fan over the sitting area had literally fallen out of the ceiling. My boyfriend and I debated whether we should call the reception desk about it (they had asked only for calls if its an emergency), but upon looking outside we saw that the weather wasn't bad at all and the rain hadn't even started so we called them. The reception people don't speak very good English so when my boyfriend told them that our fan had fallen of the ceiling, the guy tried arguing that 'okay, your fan is broken, please call back tomorrow'. Even after we told him there is shattered glass from the light coverings and exposed wires hanging from the ceiling he said to call back after this point I am utterly pissed. I haven't had a good nights sleep in 3 days and I am beyond the point of being understanding to their lack of customer service here. I leave the room and walk down the hallway to find a security guard telling me in Spanish to return to the room please, I asked him to please come with me. As soon as he saw the mess of fan on the floor and glass he took prompt action and about 30 minutes later brought back a maintenance man who also didn't speak English, but grabbed the broken fan and left the room. We sat there wondering what to do and then a few minutes later, the reception desk called and let us know they would be moving us rooms (3 rooms in 3 days now). The last 2 evenings were uneventful aside from the fact that there was not much to do after the hurricane since we were still stuck in our ugly upstairs room and none of the beach or pool furniture was returned outside before we had to leave for home on Friday. Overall, my biggest takeaways are a complete lack of communication, they don't take women seriously, and the rooms are literally falling apart. Aside from the ceiling fan falling out of the ceiling, there were a handful of light switches throughout our tour-de-rooms that didn't work and one unflushable toilet. The motion sensor electricity controls are probably the most infuriating invention ever. The food and drink experience was fine, but nothing to write home about. I would not recommend this resort to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation, but if being shuffled around like disrespected cattle is what you're into, then go for it.

A Wonderful Vacation

We had a great time at the Majestic. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and there was no shortage of food choices. The shows were really amazing. I've been to a few resorts and this one was my favourite I would definitely go back!
