Our Opinion

A top-notch choice for those wanting a romantic getaway. The resort is tended by incredibly exceptional staff. The rooms are modern, elegant, and well-maintained. Make sure to request a suite with a swim-up room and jacuzzi. OK buffet options; great a la carte restaurants as well. If you're looking for something really fancy, make sure to check out the steakhouse and Italian restaurants. The grounds are immaculate. However, there have been some issues with various pool areas. The tiles have a tendency to come loose and litter the poolside area. This does not take away from your stay however. Overall, a great choice for those looking to stay in Punta Cana.

Amazing Vacation Spot

This was my first visit to the resort and the island. I was pleased with both. I started out with a poolside room right in the middle of all the action, but found it to be a little to loud. I was moved the same day to the members only part of the resort and it was total bliss. My butler Antonio, was such a kind soul. Anything I asked for, he made it happen. There was another great butler named, Victor who was taking care of my friends. The food was above average, but I would have loved to experienced some of the local dishes. I also enjoyed the nightly entertainment and the overall friendliness of the staff of the resort.

Vacation Paradise

We enjoyed our holiday immensely and were sorry to leave. This was our first all-inclusive vacation and were pleasantly surprised at the level of pampering we were provided. The staff are among the BEST in the world. We felt welcome and spoiled from the first moment we arrived. (Cool, refreshing towel and delicious cocktail as soon as we hit the front steps!?) The private check-in reception was a lovely little welcome to our holiday. Our butler, Wsier was funny and accommodating. Though we didn't need much assistance,throughout our stay, he was willing and able to help in any way possible, and contacted us every day to check on us. He made us feel comfortable and welcome during our entire stay. The professionalism and hospitality of your restaurant staff is excellent and to be commended. We especially loved being recognized and greeted in every restaurant. (Johan and Felix were especially kind and helpful.) They made us feel special every single day. The bar staff is superb, and made for a very enjoyable experience. Radhames and Francis are especially talented and knowledgeable bartenders and always made us feel welcome. They went out of their way to provide a variety of excellent drinks and lots of laughter. (Did I mention, "top-shelf" everything??) The waitresses are also sweet and attentive to customers' needs and provided prompt service and were quick with a smile. Sofia Reina, Ana Luisa Cuevas and Sandra are especially to be commended. One area of minor improvement would be to update the rooms a bit. For example: The shower head needed replacing and insufficient lighting over the sinks made it difficult to apply makeup. So...maybe bring a portable mirror to use on the balcony in natural light. However, and more importantly, our bed was superb and allowed for wonderful sleep. Housekeeping was excellent. The rooms were cleaned thoroughly, and efficiently. Little touches like freshly plucked flowers on the decorated towels was a nice touch. Overall, we had an excellent time at Majestic Elegance and hope to return again soon.

Beautiful with Flaws

First I can not deny the beauty of this location the lay out of this property is everything... Loose 10 pounds before your arrival because every restaurant will have you wanting more also try the signature drink "The Majestic" with rum.... The pool and beach is beautiful and most definitely relaxing... Gave a 4 on strength of the property...Now the flaws:: Checked in.. yes at check in:: make sure:: if you have a late arrival make sure the hotel has your reservation in their system because regardless of your travel documents if the reservation office is closed and if its not matching up on the hotels end (crazy right) they are asking $300pp on hold until its cleared with the reservations office... Most of the staff are not proficient with other languages so if you request anything "most likely its not going to happen" reserved a double received a double bed connected as a king.. room had a strong smell of mold and mildew came sprayed (still stunk) and never suggested a change of rooms; had to request towels and new room keys everyday, asked front desk what was the problem? why are the keys not working?? "He Laughed" ūü§§ also Do Not let them suggest free pick up for the gift shopping outside of the resort its much cheaper without the haggling at shops located on the property.. I'm giving a 3 for front desk and customer relations office... Property is too beautiful to have average front desk skills...

Back a second time & disappointed overall

Our first visit was in late Feb, 2016. See "Bushwackers & Square Toilet Seats". That review was a good one, we enjoyed our stay.YOU gotta read the last part if this gets too long, I'm saving the best "worst" for last. BUT, I have to say, the place has slipped a lot in some important areas, is OK in others. We had a horrible flight/trip getting there this time from NYC/Kennedy. We (seven of us this time) arrived about 36 hours later than we were supposed to, had to fly into Santiago, a 6 hour van ride from the resort! If we had not accepted that city for arrival, we were going to be stuck in NYC for 3 additional days. SO, when we finally got there, no sleep for over 30 hours, we were exhausted & not too happy anyway. NEVER fly Delta, they didn't care & didn't reimburse us either, even after our bags arrived at the resort 2 additional days later than we did, but that's another story. Anyway, as soon as we approached the front desk, they were not at all helpful, short with us, acted like WE had done something wrong arriving almost 2 days late. They didn't have the rooms we had requested available for us, they also quickly stated , " you do know you must leave Saturday" ??? Well, yeah, we knew we were leaving Sat., so at first this confused us... THEN we realized what they were trying to say... that we were NOT getting that day back we lost or the large portion of the other either. He was saying in a backwards way that the resort was not compensating us for the lost time, either monetarily OR with a day at the back end of our stay. Now, we had not asked for this, hadn't even mentioned it...BUT for them to go there, as tired, frustrated , & mad at Delta as we were, I thought that was quite rude of the guy. So you could say right off the bat, getting there finally, we weren't happy with that "greeting". We were supposed to be having a wedding ceremony there too! (Got cancelled since we had NO clothes to do it in time). I had to argue with the desk people for 30 min., INSIST we get the rooms/building we had been promised 6 MONTHS ago...the entire sign in process was a struggle to say the least. While stranded in NYC & upon arriving on the other side of the D.R. from M.E.I tried to contact M.E. via phone for some help or to let them know we were coming in late, please hold out rooms, I got very little assistance. We were on our own getting to the resort from Santiago. Other travelers on the same flight with the same cancellation issue we had, got help from their resorts. They lined up transportation for them. We didn't get squat from M.E. I had to figure out something for 7 people myself once we arrived. I truly felt as if they didn't care, BUT they did care if we were still going to do our wedding ceremony...that's all they asked see they didn't have the $$ for that yet. Then we got barraged by the bridal people for 2 days about when we would have our wedding ceremony. Well, NO clothes for it, some guests having to leave before an alternate date was available, it just wasn't happening. Finally they backed off that idea. We noticed several of the staff, good people we thought too in 2016, were no longer there. Fired, quit, passed away... we never got an answer on that one. The Steak House, great in 2016.... we tried it 3 times this trip ... once , the steak was way over cooked, I mean almost burnt. Next time, raw.... we tried every type steak they had too. Also, our last time there, we waited almost 90 min for our meal to arrive after ordering. The Seafood restaurant, the See & Sea, wasn't as good this time either. The ONLY thing half decent is the lobster, but FYI, it isn't Maine lobsters. We noted that the Mgr was gone here too. The maids..... well, they never came until about 5-5:30 pm, about the same time we were coming back from the beach to shower for dinner. We had been out of the room most of the day too. Finally , after begging, they came earlier after our 5th day. If you asked for something delivered to the room, more beers, etc, that took forever. Sometimes they never came. IF they wanted you though (the wedding planner group) they came within minutes. Now the ladies in the guest services area were good. They helped us track down our bags. The kept calling Delta each day, making them find them & get them to us. I think if we had not spent several hours over 3 days in that office, with them, we might still be waiting for those bags too. Delta just didn't give a rip.... The beach.... you BETTER get out there by 8:00 am if you want a chair. People seem to go out there quite early & plop a towel on a chair, but many of them don't even show up to use it until noonish. That was very annoying too. I don't recall it being so hard to get a chair in the past. By 9:30 AM, YOU ARE LITERALLY walking all over trying to find a couple of them that aren't "claimed" or in use. I'm not certain, but I'd swear that some drinks were watered down too. We drank a lot a few days/nights & never seemed affected. I know my tolerance & it's never been that high. Just wondered about that, my wife did too & she isn't much of a drinker. Now for the most angering event....they hold night time wedding receptions right next to the pool bar. That just happens to be in the very middle of the resort too, surrounded by several of the guest buildings. We were across the pool from this spot, in Building 3. The last night we were there, we wanted to get to bed for some sleep by 10-11. We had to leave early & were getting up very early to eat some breakfast, finish packing, etc. Well, they BLASTED the bad 70s music at top volume right up until 11. There were maybe 25 people there for this. Most were older than me & just sitting in chairs, few were dancing. Frankly, I don't know how they could even hear each other talk. They had a cheap sound system with lots of base, & just blasted that noise from 8ish until 11:05. I called the front desk about 10:10, begging them to just see if it could be turned down a little, not off, just down some. Our bed was literally vibrating from the noise. We could hear the music in our room as if it was being performed there. There was no way to sleep. I was told by the person that answered , too bad, they do it until 11 PM, they won't turn it down. She refused to even ask if they could. Then they hung up on me. I called back, they hung up, that happened twice. This was not a huge event, it was hardly classy, it was the cheesy bad, 70s music that kids didn't even like in the 70s too! Customer service has really slipped here. Attention to detail that we had seen in 2016, was not there this time. I'm still amazed at how we were basically told we would not be getting any consideration, either by a slight refund or by some other means at our arrival... & we had not even asked for it!! We had 7 people in our group, each of us was disappointed overall. This was a huge thing for us. We had our almost grow & grown kids with us. Between Delta & the resort, our wedding ceremony & family event was basically ruined. I didn't care so much for me, but for the kids & my wife I sure did! I seriously doubt we will go back. There are plenty of other resorts in the DR.
