One of the best family hotels in Punta Cana. Melia Caribe is a large resort, with a beautiful beach. The resort has very attentive and personable staff that will cater to your needs. They are also notable for their kids club. Those who are impartial to walking would enjoy staying in this resort, as its relatively large size also means distances between one area of the hotel to the other.
As we arrived everyone was great. Service here with everyone was extremely nice. Check in was pretty quick as far as line wise. But we had to wait to actually 3pm to get the room. As we went back to the check in the room wasn't ready and they gave us another room with one big bed n a small bed which that wasn't what we paid for. We try to change rooms but the other room was not better so we stay at the same one. Otherwise all in all I'm enjoying my vacation because that's what I came here for.
Beautiful place! Geat people the food is good and everyone have being wonderful to us. Beautiful place to visit. The room is very clean. The services for us have being great! Live the bar! My experience was and still have being great!
I initially booked a room at one rate and then a few months later, they had a deal. So I rebooked my room at the lower rate and to also receive resort credits. I called their customer service to make sure that the new rate was reflected in my reservation, which they told me it was. I took screenshots and prints of the rate in my Melia Club account. Upon check-in, they would not honor the rate, but gave me the resort credits. They pretended to look into this, but after 2.5 hours trying to check in, they told us to check in and they'll continue to look into it and get back to us. That never happened! Be careful when you're booking with them! I'm sure they do this to customers all the time.
The service was the best, Specially the bartenders at the Main Pool, (Francisco & the rest of the crew), Also at the Steak & Grill restaurant Angel & Jesus were super!!! All was awesome. The air-condition in the room could be better, but we had a great time. Will go there again no doubts...
**Note: This was my first visit to an all inclusive so I have no other experience to compare my stay to!**My friend and I traveled to Punta Cana in mid-July and stayed in The Level/Adults Only portion of the resort.GROUNDS: The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. In the mornings, I often saw staff sweeping/mopping the pool decks and common areas. Landscapers were out frequently during the day maintaining foliage and pruning. Trash and recycling containers were well placed and there were plenty of them. I never saw any trash laying around.ROOMS: Initially we were placed in a regular room on the adults only side of The Level. It was a very clean and spacious room. We were on the second floor and our room had a pool view. Our room had a couch and a small table with two chairs. I have absolutely no complaints about the room. The mini fridge was stocked daily with Coors Light, Coke/Sprite/Diet Coke/Water/Juice and some snack items. There was also a coffee pot and plenty of coffee and sweeteners as well as tea bags. Robes were in the closet along with a nice, large umbrella and a scale (who weighs them self on vacations?!). Mid-week, we asked if we were in the correct room because we noticed our paperwork stated we paid for the junior suite. We didn't care either way but inquired as to what the difference was. We were quickly moved to the correct room. The only difference was that in place of the couch, we had the Jacuzzi tub. We also had a canopy bed and small-ish yard on the first floor. The canopy bed was awesome... but it rained a bit each night and the pad got soaked so it wasn't ever really dry enough to sit/lay on. This room also had slippers with the robes. Again, no complaints about this room. I actually almost liked the initial room better because we didn't use the tub and the canopy bed was too soggy to use.SERVICE: You're on vacation, so you're not in a hurry....riiiight?! Good thing, "Dominican time" reigns supreme. As far as check in, we found that to be super easy. Our airport shuttle dropped up at the main lobby but there was a small kiosk right out front for people who were staying at The Level. The escorted us in a golf cart to The Level and then we checked in with Leslie, who is a delight! She was super helpful, friendly, and very accommodating. We experienced a bit of a wait but the lobby was packed with people checking in so we expected as much. Our butler was Fernley. We didn't use his services much aside from asking for a bottle of wine one time. Your butler is available to assist you with any wants/needs you may have and will help you with setting up excursions. During breakfast/lunch/dinner, The Level restaurants and buffets were never overly crowded but it still took a while to get food and beverages. Nonetheless, we always experienced friendly service and everyone always had a smile! When we went to the pool/beach, we LOVED Cristian and Roberto. They were fantastic and always on top of keeping our thermos filled with beverages and making sure we had water. Roberto would even save the chairs we liked until we arrived for the day. FOOD: Vegetarians beware... not a lot of options for us. I ate a lot but I also had to eat every few hours because there was a lack of protein options for vegetarians. It's as if that concept was unheard of at all of the restaurants. We typically stuck with eating at The Level restaurants/buffets. I would usually hit the buffet as it had the most options for me and my friend would order from the menu. The food itself isn't the best but it's not the worst. Some things are better than others. My friend LOVED all of the meat and seafood he ate (he especially liked the bacon wrapped filet and the lobster). There was always plenty of fruit. They would happily make your eggs or an omelet any way you wanted at the breakfast buffet. There were snacks between lunch and dinner and again after dinner until early morning before breakfast. The snack bar was generally chips and salsa, french fries, hamburgers, hot dogs, etc. Overall, I didn't have an issues with the food aside from lack of protein for non-meat eaters.ACTIVITIES: ....sigh.... Well, they tried.... at night, we were a little bored with the activities. There is a show (different each night) from 930-1030pm but the sound system is a bit of a nightmare and the theater is outdoors so if it's raining, seating is limited. There is a disco but we tried two different nights and it was terrible. We were usually two of ten and the other eight were usually under 25. There are a lot of bars you can check out and on Friday night, one of them had a band. The Level bar usually had nightly entertainment (band or singer) and so did The Avenue Bar over at the main part of the resort. However, they were usually done before midnight and often the bars stopped serving prior to 1am. I thought it odd that people did not really walk on the beach at night and there was never any nightly beach activity like a fire or party.POOL/BEACH: Loved the pools. We mostly stuck with The Level pool. It's spacious, not terribly cold, and they try to drum up activity with water Zumba and other fitness activity. The pool grounds are pretty. Plenty of chairs and cabana beds. Swim up bar. The beach is beautiful. The only downfall is the amount of seaweed. Yikes. I've never seen anything like it. They go through and plow it in the morning but I didn't notice much of a difference either way. Regardless, there are lots of chairs and it's the Caribbean so it's stunning! Watch out for people trying to sell you things. A firm "no" usually works. Otherwise, avoid direct eye contact.OTHER TIPS:* We brought hot/cold thermos type cups. Wise investment. The cups for drinks at the beach and pool are tiny. Tip your server $10+ at the start of the day and they will take good care of you the whole day!* We also brought rafts and blew them up when we got there. Our last day, we gave them to another couple.* Be sure to tip. We would usually tip a few to $5 at breakfast/lunch/dinner and upwards of $20 at the pool. It won't make service at the restaurants any better but it will at the pool/beach.* The Level is supposedly upgraded as far as alcohol is concerned. However, my friend liked having Crown in the evening after a day of fruity drinks at the pool. Crown was $5 and not an included alcohol. If you want super premium alcohol, either buy the bottle or be prepared to pay a little extra.* Don't get sucked into listening to any time share shenanigans. It will be a waste of your day for a half off massage. Not worth it.Enjoy your stay! You're on vacation!
