Our Opinion

One of the best family hotels in Punta Cana. Melia Caribe is a large resort, with a beautiful beach. The resort has very attentive and personable staff that will cater to your needs. They are also notable for their kids club. Those who are impartial to walking would enjoy staying in this resort, as its relatively large size also means distances between one area of the hotel to the other.

The spectacular Melia Caribe Tropical offers spacious, classy and beautifully decorated rooms in a lush garden setting. Pamper yourself in one of the complete European spas and enjoy gourmet cuisine, spectacular beaches and a wide array of outdoor activities. Kids can enjoy the Flintstones theme activities nearby while parents relax in peace and tranquility. Guest accommodations now include the Royal Service Suites, offering luxury service with a personalized touch. So whether you go golfing, honeymooning or vacationing with the family, allow the Melia's trusted name to spoil you with excellent services and facilities that will make you never want to leave!

Location: On Bavaro Beach, 25 min from the Punta Cana airport, 90 min from La Romana airport.

Not Bad if You Have Nothing to Compare it to

After spending the previous week at Paradisus Punta Cana, another Melia Resort property, we decided to spend a week at the Levels Adult Resort within the Melia Caribe Tropical. The room's AC unit was not working properly upon our arrival. After two calls to maintenance, they sort of fixed it. The food at some of the restaurants was good. The staff was not as accommodating as the referenced sister property. To be fair, some of the staff were gracious. Drink services at the beach could improve by adding additional personnel. The Levels transportation staff met our needs, yet at times they had limited resources to accommodate our transportation needs. This is a large resort, one definitely requires transportation to the main restaurants. One of the better restaurants on site was the American Grill, William was our gracious waiter who made sure our needs were taken care of. I was taken back at the added 44.99 per person charge to have dinner at the Japanese Hibachi style restaurant. They do offer a twenty-five dollar resort credit so you could deflect the 90.00 cost. The Resort offered "credits" per stay per room. Let's just say one should not book this resort based on the "credits" offered. If you request premium drinks, they will be more than glad to provide you with it, for an extra Five dollars when you are at the Melia Caribe area. They should offer the Levels guest premium drinks wherever you are on the property. For our next trip to Punta Cana, I would most definitely add to my travel budget and stay at the Paradisus Palma Real, next door to the Melia Caribe. The Wi-Fi at the Resort needs improvement. It is sporadic.

Me and my family stayed here for a week and absolutely loved it. The scenery in general is gorgeous and there are so many things to do each day. We did the snorkeling with a semi cruise, zip lining, and monkeyland (my personal favorite)! The amazing and variety of food is a major plus. What made our trip and experience even better was the incredible staff that we had. They are all very friendly and accomadating to each needs and always seem to be smiling and saying hi to everyone which you don't see often at all. One waiter/ staff member in particular who stuck out the most to me and my family was Gustavo Luis. We had him twice during our dinning experience at different restaurants and WE ABSOLUTELY LOVED HIM. We are a family of 9 with two young children ( 6 and 7) and he made sure we all were ohkay not just as a group, but individually as well. Hos sense of humor is great and the kids loved him! He made us feel like we were home. It really made us feel welcomed and happy! He, along with the others we have noticed work so very hard they deserve to be recognized and taken care of for their hard work! Again, you do not see that type of teamwork and personality a lot. We will definitely come back after our amazing experience we had! Gustavo Luis THANK YOU AGAIN!!!!! Along with the other incredibly hard working staff!

First time to Punta Cana

This was the first time we have been to the Dominican Republic and a Melia property. The check in was a smooth process and went rather quickly. We stayed on the Level adults only side. When they took us to the room it was not the room we requested but that was taken care of. When we got into the correct room it seemed rather warm but thought it would cool down. We hadn't received our luggage yet do to the room change but was reassured they would get it there. After eating dinner we went to our room and the wrong luggage had been placed there. After finding our concierge our luggage was found and delivered to our room but this was approximately 8:00 pm and we checked in at 4:00 pm. We went to bed that night hoping the room would cool down but that never happened. The following morning we had to make another trip to the Level lobby to complain. We were told they were having A/C problems but we had already talked to other people and they said their rooms were fine. We told them we wanted a new room and after approximately two hours we were moved to a room where the A/C worked. I would like to thank Eduardo Arias for the time he took to get our situation taken care of. With the way the first day started and without his help I am not sure if our stay would have been a good one. Thanks once again Eduardo!! He made sure the remainder of our stay was wonderful. The property is very well maintained and clean. The Level pool is beautiful and the beach is very clean with minimal seaweed. We spent most of our time at the pool and had the best service you could ask for from Victor Paula (Panda). He was so polite and always had a great attitude. The rooms are dated but yet nice. We took advantage of the spa and it is very nice. Would also like to thank Gladys and Claudia for the great massages. There was always activities around the pool area thanks to Juan Tavarez. He did a great job getting everyone involved and making it fun (crazy darts). To finish up, our first day and a half was stressful but after that it was awesome. Great weather, good food and made new friends and the small headaches would not keep us from going back!!

Everything was amazing. The employees there work so hard and were so friendly. Gustavo Luis was our group waiter several times and was out of this world! His service was outstanding and he was excellent with the kids. He made this trip fun and simple. He was such a great guy!
