One of the best family hotels in Punta Cana. Melia Caribe is a large resort, with a beautiful beach. The resort has very attentive and personable staff that will cater to your needs. They are also notable for their kids club. Those who are impartial to walking would enjoy staying in this resort, as its relatively large size also means distances between one area of the hotel to the other.
This may be a long review but I want to make sure I capture everything. 30 members of my family stayed at the hotel for my niece's 16th birthday. Check in went well, although it took a really long time to get us all settled. My husband, and two daughters (12 years & 16 month old) stayed in the room with me. 1 large king size bed and 2 twin. The rooms are older and not well maintained. They look like they need to be remodeled. They did clean the room every day. However, some days they just made the bed and did not touch the rest of the room. Glasses were left dirty. Hotel is large overall and needed to catch a train or golf cart ride to get around and they were not readily available. At times, there were a few workers in the golf carts that would not even stop to give you a ride. Beach was dirty.... a lot of sea weed and not well maintained. No pool side or beach service. Loved the bartenders at the pool David (el flaco), Juan, and everyone else were wonderful. The hotel boast that they have 10 restaurants, but they only open 2 to 3 per night. On average the wait is long for a table, so for large groups like ours we would have to go to the buffet almost every night and they serve the same food. (Not the best) The only restaurants they open every day are the one they charge you for. The Hibachi and some outside restaurants that serves lobster and steak ($40+) per person. Total rip off. The kids pool was always filled with sand and only cleaned once while we were there and we were there for a week. I did not let my little one go in there. The spa was pleasant and the service was good. The people that worked at the hotel are all very attentive and made the trip tolerable. Took family pictures at the beach with my husband and girls. Baltron (I think that was his name) was absolutely amazing. He took his time with my baby and took amazing shots of us at the beach. Overall had an ok time, but I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and I would never go back! Go to the Majestic
Thanks to a very special lady Matilde Salazar Martinez for making our vacation great. Check in was good no problems. We were there with a friend and asked for rooms close. He was put in a ground floor Pool and ocean view right by buffett. We were put in a 2nd story room way in a back corner of building 3. We found this great lady who switched us to ground floor room ocean and pool view a few doors from our friend! The room was OK. Nothing fancy but fine. The food, staff, pools, and beach were good. I went there with little confidence after reading reviews but had a great time. Thank you TP!
I will list the pros and cons of this resort honestly. First a big thank you to Coral Jimenez who turned our vacation into something I forgettable! Pros: Rooms are big and beds are super comfortableLarge bath towels and beach towelsAlways find a lounger at the beach and pool areasFood is excellent in the a la cart restaurantsService is always with a smileNightly entertainment is greatHotel lobby gift store has great prices compared to sellers on the beach. Cons:Do not stay in room 0605 - door is off the hinges and you have to slam it to close it by the time they offered to switch our room we were leaving the next day....Hotel states they have 13 restaurants - 2 are paid restaurants not included in the all inclusive- other restaurants are located in the Level area which is an upgraded area. There are only 3 a la carts open per night and it's first come first served no reservations and your entire party has to be there to be seated. They try to sell you an upgraded bottle of wine everynight. Hotel doesn't actual have 9 pools it's one big pool and each section is considered a pool. Resort is huge - if your room is closer to the pool or beach area you have to take a train to get to the main lobby and restaurants. No waiters by pool or beach area you have to go to the bar yourself to get a drink. This one really bothered me - absolutely no beach bar or beach restaurant - the only thing that is close and you have to wear a coverup is the pool/beach area buffet which is quite a walk from the loungers. This resort is one of the last resorts on the Bavaro Beach strip because it's on the tale end there is a lot of seaweed on shore and in the water. Can't say anything about the Kids Zone never had to use it - kids were having fun at the pool and beach. It's a more quite resort which is great for kids and families - no loud noise or commotion - no one comes around asking you to do activities. Your pretty much left alone to enjoy your vacation - they have activities posted on a board but who checks that.If your traveling with Air Transat be prepared to not see or hear from your rep your whole stay. Also Air Transat offers certain things included and the hotel has no idea about these inclusions- so be prepared for that. Bring small dollar bills as it's very hard to get change for tips We had a few issues and thanks to Coral Jimenez she tried her best to make things right for us, because of the great service she gave our group of 20 I would be willing to go back and give the Melia Caribe Tropical a second chance. Thanks for a great family vacation Melia Caribe Tropical and Coral Jimenez.
I was in punta Cana for a family wedding .i had lots of fun here with the family and also the foods was great and Barbarita staff form front desk as well . The beach is nice love the sports bar and clubs
It rained continuously for 4 days last week during our trip but our children had the best time. The staff went above and beyond to make sure everyone was entertained. Roycer was the best. He spent hours each day playing sports in the pool with the kids, creating games around pool deck. I don't know how we would have survived our rainy week without Roycer's help. He's a jewel. This has been our 9th stay at Melia and we continue to go back because of the amazing staff. Some my children have known since they were babies and they are now 7&9. Hats off to Eddy Samba, Evelyn Cuentas, Dulce, Jerkin, Ramone, Augustine, Hector, Wander, Roosevelt we love you all and thank you for taking such great care of us every time we come.
