Our Opinion

One of the best family hotels in Punta Cana. Melia Caribe is a large resort, with a beautiful beach. The resort has very attentive and personable staff that will cater to your needs. They are also notable for their kids club. Those who are impartial to walking would enjoy staying in this resort, as its relatively large size also means distances between one area of the hotel to the other.

Had an awesome holiday. We will be back. Thankyou.

We visited Melia Caribe Tropical from Nov. 5 to Nov. 15th, 2017. Our last vacation was a t Hard Rock so the bar was set fairly high. This resort is up to $700. per week pp cheaper than Hard Rock so we were expecting a fairly noticeable difference in amenities. Not so. This place is drop dead gorgeous. Rooms were a bit smaller but still had a king bed, a couch, table and 3 comfy chairs and a balcony. This was not at the upgraded level. Very clean, the buildings and restaurants are beautiful, the pool area is so tropical with mature lovely landscaping everywhere lots of shade at the beach and pool area if you need it. Only 1 poolside bar but the drinks were plentiful, fast and awesome. Thanks to the bartender who has a great voice and sang along with the music. Only issue is the ocean here is a bit seaweedy although the beach is beautiful. Pool is also awesome. Loved it. Will return. Will never pay high prices again. The best deal is right here. Try West Jet for best deals. The staff became our friends. See you next year. P.S. food was the best.

Sister Vacation

The service at this resort is commendable. There are certain individuals that have stood out with their excellent service to make our sister vacation truly memorable and remarkable. These hard working and attentive employees are Starling, Gustavo, (from the American Grill ), Juan Perez, Josef Upia, Carlos Herraera, and George at the ItaLa Pagoda, the Italian Restaurant. They all were friendly, courteous, attentive, and very jovial! The housekeeping staff for rooms 1003 and 1010 were wonderful too. We have enjoyed every day of our stay at this beautiful resort. This wonderful service we have received has made us want to return again soon.

Beyond what we expected

Upon arriving at the Melia Caribe we found it a little overwhelming as we have never done an all inclusive before. It took all of about 3 hours to feel like we have been doing this for years. The staff was absolutely AMAZING. If there was anything we were unsure of we just asked. The food was great and the drinks plentiful. From the moment we arrived until the minute we left we were treated like royalty. The beach and pools were well kept, clean and enjoyable. The rooms were well equipped with everything we needed from bottles of water, to beer rum and wine. Would definitely recommend this locale to anyone who wants a fantastic tropical get away!!!!

Great beach; Great pool; Great staff - but a couple of negatives !

Four of us spent a week in two of the "Level" units. With that we had VIP check-in (much appreciated as the lines elsewhere were very long), access to two additional restaurants and pools as well as brand name adult beverages, although we could only get the higher end beverages at the "Level" areas. Asking for the high end names at the other bars would cost you $7-$10 per drink. As you may have read in other reviews, the "Level" is the way to go without a doubt.Rooms were large and housekeeping did a good job every day. They were very responsive with requests for additional towels, etc.Property is big as noted in other reviews, but with the trams and golf carts we never waited more than a minute or two for a lift. The beach was fabulous.. only property that cleaned the beach daily of seaweed, etc. Plenty of lounge chairs but the polapas were taken early. Pool was large, but with many nooks and crannies if you wished. Food was good, not great - but none of us went hungry or thirsty !!! Best restaurant we found was the Italian followed by Quattro and then Tai. The restaurant that came in dead last was the American Grille. Staff was great ! Couldn't do enough for us. Always smiling and asking if we needed anything. (Special call out to Eduardo and Hector !! )A couple of minor negatives: Bartenders at the pool next to Quattro never smiled and never said thank you for a tip - just took the money and walked away. Wasn't just one of them - all of them! Hawkers roam the beach trying to sell you everything from jewelry, to cigars to "Photo with the bird or the monkey". Fairly annoying after a while, although if you tell them no thank you (usually twice) they will walk away.Got roped into a 90 minute sales pitch for a new property they are building... We were told at check in that this was a 20-25 information session about the property. Felt duped by this one !! Won't happen again !
