The Now Larimar Punta Cana is a resort that is notable for top notch customer service. Regardless of whatever need or concern, the attentive staff are always ready and willing to acknowledge and accommodate the needs of their guests. They're also incredibly personable and remember requests. Great food options to choose from. Many guests recommend eating at the Italian a la carte restaurant. They don't often take reservations, so make sure that you go early to avoid a long wait. There is a great beach area. However, there are days when it gets fairly busy and finding a lounger might be difficult. The pool however, offers a lot more space to lounge.
Such fond memories of this hotel.The rooms are nice and have a small minibar included which includes water, soft drinks and beer. Room service included also, although not the best in the world. Towel rental down by the pool means you don't have to use your own, although can get confusing trying to find your own towel.. cant have it all!The restaurants are great and there is a lot of selection. You can tell they use the same ingredients for a lot of dishes but do enough to make it seem different. The a la carte restaurants are very welcome compared to normal all inclusive buffets!The evening entertainment was great most nights with the beach fire party the most memorable.. which was excellent!The entertainment team seemed very likeable, always trying to get people involved and not too pushy if you wish to relax. Music by the pool is loud and will get songs in your head!The resort is spotless and very attractive looking. Aswell as the beach which is beautiful. Lots of excursions to book within 40 mins drive or so (pickups included usually).Would love to return one day!
Excellent vacation! Fabulous staff... Gabriel M, Juan F, Juan Pablo, Danielle, Ishmael, Frank.... we are so happy! Wonderful shows. Had an issue with the room at first but it was fixed quickly. Great food. Ate at Buffet every morning and some lunches and dinners. Food selection was great. Plenty of choices for everyone! Mexican restaurant very good. Steakhouse also great. Had comments prior to coming about red meat not good, but we had no issues! Hubby had a great steak! Burgers at the ocean cafe were also good! The Japanese Hibachi good as wellness. NO complaints on the food at all. All staff very friendly. Made our vacation truly great. Ocean was a bit messy but that was due to Irma! It was still great!
Absolutely loved our stay at now larimar fantastic hotel with amazing facilities, all made better with the concierge WARNES, by far the friendliest and most helpful member of staff on the complex who made our stay a pleasure with constant help advice and assistance when needed. Would return tomorrow if possible one of the best holidays we have been on.
My husband, my 8 month old daughter and I had a 7 night all inclusive stay with Now Larimar in May 2017 (I know this review is late).We opted for this resort as we stayed at Secrets in Cancun 2 years prior and were familiar with the hotels ‘set up’. We opted for the preferred package and booked through British Airways.AirportA couple of weeks before we travelled, I’d purchased our tourist visas online (one for each of us, even the baby) and printed them and had them ready. Consequently, we were able to skip the long lines when we arrived.I was pleasantly surprised to then be ushered in to the ‘family and special assistance’ queue whilst going through immigration. After a 9 hour flight with a baby, this was greatly appreciated. The airport staff up until leaving the airport were pleasant and welcoming. An airport official at the exit aggressively stopped us and quizzed us on the amount of cash that we had and the purpose for our stay, once I showed him our British passports, he softened. Additionally, you are not allowed to step out of the door with a baggage trolley which was tricky for us as we had a baby, 3 suitcases, 2 backpacks and a stroller. Note to self: Pack light.Transfer Prior to arrival, we booked a return private transfer with DominicanPlus. They were the only transfer company who could guarantee a car seat for the baby at an extra cost of $10 each way. Their desk was situated within the airport grounds and their staff were helpful and efficient.The drive to the hotel was only 30mins. Hotel WelcomeUpon entering the hotel, we were greeted with a cold drink and a flannel to wipe our faces and ushered into the preferred lounge to check in. We were checked in by Abigail who was AMAZING… just what we needed after a 9 hour flight from London.There was a lot of information to digest, coupons for a candle lit dinner, lobster dinner, invitation to a timeshare presentation, restaurants, info on pools, bars etc.Roberto did a quick tour of the beautifully manicured property. He was engaging and hilarious and answered any questions that we had. He also bought us to our room.RoomWe booked a Tropical View Room (1377) in the preferred block (block closest to the beach). Unfortunately, as we entered the room, it smelt damp and was quite dark even with the lights on. I was really disappointed. Additionally there was a Jacuzzi on the balcony but only a shower in the bathroom (which is a problem when your baby hates the shower). We needed a bath in the bathroom to wash the baby so I called Abigail at reception and explained our issue. After a few phone calls back and forth, she said the best she could do was move us to the same grade room with a Jacuzzi in the bathroom the following day. I knew that this was the best she could do, so we accepted it and were moved the next day to room 1271 which was 10000 times better!I had bought a travel cot with us but the crib that they provided was absolutely fine and our baby slept well.We requested a late check out on departure day. Although the hotel provide you with the spa showers and changing facilities, I knew that being in our room would be preferable before our 3pm departure as our baby was able to have a nap. You’re still all inclusive on departure day.DiningBreakfast Buffets served at the Carnival International Restaurant or Castaways (preferred only guests) and had a wide variety of food. Fresh bread, cereals, yoghurt, pancakes, pastries, omelette station, fruit, jams, fresh juice, sausage, bacon, beans etc. Hot coffee, tea, lattes and cappuccinos are served at your table. The staff got to know our drinks orders of soya latte and cappuccino by the 2nd day which was nice. Special mention to Ismael who made me the perfect soya latte every morning for me at the Carnival International restaurant.On our 4th day, a random waiter asked us to write a review on TripAdvisor “today”. I politely declined and said that I preferred to wait until I arrived home but he insisted until I spoke sternly and continued to eat my breakfast. I had never seen him before and he wasn’t even serving us. I found him to be quite abrupt and unprofessional. If they want positive TA reviews then that definitely isn’t the way to do it.LunchBarefoot Grill – We ate here once and enjoyed the selection of BBQ foods and saladsCastaways – We chose to eat here most lunchtimes as it was close to the poolCarnival – A wide selection of foods for lunch Coco Café – We visited here almost every day for a late afternoon snack and coffee. They have a nice selection of cakes, pastries, biscuits and cold and hot coffees.We really enjoyed the poolside BBQ on our final day.DinnerReservations are required for the Chef’s table at Spice and Mecure but as a preferred guest, you can just turn up at all the other restaurantsBluewater Grill (Steakhouse) – We ate here once and I think my expectations were too high. If you’re from the UK, I’d liken it to food from Giraffe. It was nice but if you’re looking for gourmet, great quality steak, you won’t find it here. Although the staff were very accommodating.Carnival – Different cuisines every night. I particularly enjoyed the Dominican NightSpice (Asian) – We booked the Chef’s table and enjoyed the presentation although the food wasn’t special.Tamarindo (Mexican) – We only ate here once but didn’t really enjoy it much. Very similar to the quality of Chiquitos (Mexican restaurant in the UK).Mecure (French) – We heard I was the best restaurant but unfortunately we didn’t visit as it is Adults Only.We also took the buggy transfer to Now Garden where we ate at the Italian restaurant that we didn’t enjoy at all.We found the ‘front desk’ hosts to be quite lack luster in their welcome and this was across all restaurants. Apart from them, the staff were welcoming, friendly, professional and accommodating to our bread loving baby!PoolsideWe spent a lot of time in and by the pools (mostly the preferred club quiet pool) and were served tirelessly by the bar staff. Emily and Antonio always made me a creative mocktail and always got my husband’s drink right.Excursions We booked our excursions through Amstar in the hotel lobby. We didn’t have much choice with a baby but opted for the Outback Safari, which was worth every penny. The trip included transport in their open air truck, a visit to a local school, coffee and chocolate plantation, cigar and rum shack, the zoo, a delicious lunch, all inclusive drinks and a visit to a local beach. We had a fantastic time! Our driver and guide were entertaining, engaging and really made the trip special. EntertainmentUnfortunately we didn’t see much of the entertainment due to the little ones bedtime.SummaryOverall we had a nice time at Now Larimar and would recommend it. It was out first family holiday and come home refreshed. If I visited DR again, I would probably try somewhere else, just for variety or maybe even Now Onyx. Having previously stayed at Secrets in Cancun, I would say not to go with the same expectations. Comparing the 2 is like comparing apples and oranges.Now Larimar’s best asset is their customer service. They were great at accommodating us and engaging with our baby girl who is usually very weary of adults.Word of adviceCarry dehumidifier bags for your wardrobes unless you like having the AC on 24/7. We carried 4 x 500ml dehumidifer bags which we hung in our wardrobes over the week to prevent a damp smell in our clothes. They definitely worked and by the end of our trip, all 4 were full.Suggestions for Now Larimar1. Upon arrival, ask if your guests would like a tour now or book them in for a tour later. We were exhausted and just needed a shower and something to eat after a 9 hour flight from London.2. Please simplify your coupon scheme. It was so confusing that we didn’t use any of them!3. A thorough deep clean of the rooms, especially the wardrobes (check the cracks).4. Please promote Abigail… she is one of your finest staff members. I wish we could have done more to say ‘thank you’ to her for making our trip extra special.
Great holiday in Now Larimar in the Dominican Republic. Friendly staff, great food and good facilities. We liked the pool area and the pool bar where saff could not be more helpful, the drinks were lovely and the barmen were great.The entertainment team were a good group of guys and held different types of games.Everynight there was a different show on which was great and the performances were good.Beautiful beaches with white sands and clear blue water, sun loungers and great areas to relax.thank baby face you are our favorit
