Our Opinion

The Occidental Caribe is a nice little resort for those who are looking for a quiet getaway. Good options for food. The buffet items are a little better in quality, compared to the a la carte items. However, checking out the a la carte items should still be a must, as there are some that offer great food options. The resort is staffed with incredibly attentive staff. If you ever have a problem with your stay, the management team and everyone else will go above and beyond to ensure that your concerns are addressed. A great place to stay in Punta Cana.

Beach drink service

We were fortunate to have Yileiny Ramos serve my wife and I drinks during our extended stay at Occidental Caribe Hotel. She was kind, polite , courteous and very attentive. She always had a friendly smile and never forgot about us .

Don’t know why people complain

First off this was my husband and I first international trip. After reading numerous reviews we choose Caribe. 1) clean rooms, hotel and beach 2) every single employee was courteous and helpful. Caribe you have a gem in Gloria Perez at Maelstrom, attentive and personable. 3) tried the japanese(good food), Dominican, Italian, and don Simon pizza(great staff), and the buffet. Food was ok to good. Plenty of options for everyone. 4) beach and the 2 pools are stunning. The place is gorgeous day and night. 5) we had an oceanfront room. Only complaint of the whole trip would be the lighting in the bathroom was very low. Loved the high ceilings. AC worked the whole 7 nights. Loved having coffee on the balcony in the morning. 6) we enjoyed meeting people from all over the world and hearing all the different languages. 7) the spa. Walked in to book a couples masssge and they took us in immediately. The best massages we’ve had! Prices are very reasonable. And I got my hair braided too! 8) check in. Our flights were canceled due to a snowstorm, the booking co we used was able to get us the same trip 3 days later. It was booked but not confirmed when we arrived but was cleared up within 10 minutes. 9) we were quite sad to leave yesterday and head home to 15 degree weather. If we come back to punta Cana this will be the only place. Advice: don’t forget sunscreen or after sun lotions. Very expensive here. We used blue to shuttle. Prompt friendly service. If anyone approaches you to look at the other occidental hotel I would decline. It took too much precious time. There is entertainment during the day at the pool and theater. Pool and ping pong tables in the game room. Casino is small but something to do at night and has free WiFi. My go to drink was the pina colada. Only beer on tap here is Presidente which I actually liked. Hubby had the drinks of the day. Mai tais were his fav. We are 50 and 57, guests were of all ages. Bring a game or deck of cards, sit by the bar and listen to an awesome sax player. Make dinner reservations early. So...drinks, good weather, views, decent food and good clean environment was better than we imagined.

follow up to my negative review two years ago!

We spent 10 days here two years ago and my review was not very good but I am pleased to say that we gave it another chance and the customer service has GREATLY improved. We arrived jan7th and will be leaving in two days and it has been a great vacation. Staff was very helpful and friendly, a far cry from our previous experience. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel. Well done to all the staff and management for a job well done!

We like it!

We really enjoyed staying in this hotel, food at the buffet restaurant wasn’t that good as the food of the restaurant that you have make a reservation but still the service is good, if you are a red wine drinker as me, you won’t like the red wine that they serve, and they have for sale by bottles no good wines either, but they do make really good mojitos and other kinds of drinks.

Perfect for First Time All-Inclusive

This was my first trip to the Dominican Republic as well as my first stay at an All-Inclusive resort. The service was great and all staff were friendly and helpful if you needed it. If they see a young couple, they usually ask if you are celebrating your honeymoon, which is really thoughtful for those that are. Pools are amazing and the view from the pool/beach facing rooms is incredible! Rooms were clean, but hot water was scarce at times. Maids only changed towels once, but would probably do it every day if asked. The specialty restaurants are top notch and the food is good. Check in and check out were a breeze. Definitely book transfers through Vacaciones Barceló- they will treat you like royalty when they see the yellow wristband! I would definitely stay again and will be recommending to friends and family.
