The Occidental Caribe is a nice little resort for those who are looking for a quiet getaway. Good options for food. The buffet items are a little better in quality, compared to the a la carte items. However, checking out the a la carte items should still be a must, as there are some that offer great food options. The resort is staffed with incredibly attentive staff. If you ever have a problem with your stay, the management team and everyone else will go above and beyond to ensure that your concerns are addressed. A great place to stay in Punta Cana.
Location: In Punta Cana, directly on a magnificent white-sand beach, 35 minutes from the airport.
Everything about the resort itself was beautiful except language barrier and terrible food. The room was nice and beds were great. Probably the worse food I have ever tried to eat, pool was beautiful and building was very nice.
The resort is precious. Especially the pool and beach area is exceptional. It is old but they constantly maintain so that the whole resort is in a good condition. The room was spacious with a kingsize bed and the bathroom was newly renovated. Nevertheless, we saw unrenovated rooms of other guests in a block that was under construction. So I guess they will be up to date soon. Room service was inconsistant. Sometimes they cleaned at 5pm and sometimes they knocked at our door at 8am. Often they forgot to fill our minibar although we left tip for them every day.All employees are friendly but some policies are very strange e.g. they expect you to call for inland calls from your expensive phone in your room instead of making a short call from the reception. This happened to us several times e.g. when a tour operator forgot to pick us for an activity and even when we needed to call an ambulance.Internet is ridiculously expensive. Since it is an all-inclusive resort we expected the wifi to be free. Arriving in Occidental Caribe we realized they expect us to pay 10USD per day or 50USD per week for every device.Souvenirs and everything else in the resort shops were extremely expensive and also taxi fares are high. Once you are identified as a tourist you are asked to pay 15USD per way non-negotiable. Occidental Caribe is far away from town and there is nothing except the beach to see. It would be nice if the hotel offered shuttle servicesto town. But all in all we enjoyed our stay at Occidental Caribe a lot. Especially for the low price that we paid. We were surprised how much we got for the amount we paid. And the private beach in front of the resort is the most beautiful one that we saw in Punta Cana.If internet woudl have been included and the lobby would have been more helpful, this would have been a perfect holiday. We can recommend it.
The beach and natural beauty are remarkable. Half the hotel was under construction including the swim up bar pool. The rooms have mold, everywhere. The floors are filled with dirt and hair, not mine I’m blonde they’re black!
Location: 5 StarsFor the price you pay, this hotel has a great location, all rooms are walking distance from the hotel and most of the rooms have an ocean view or are facing the ocean. The hotel's main pool is been renovated but who needs a pool when you have the Carribean right there.Rooms: 4 Starsfrom talking to some guess, most of the "Ocean Front" rooms are newly renovated, with views of the ocean with a pool in between. BE AWARE: We booked a Superior Ocean Front but we got a Room Facing the ocean with a pool in between, since when an Ocean Front also includes Pool View. Housekeeping was always on time and doing a great job.Employees/Shows: 5 StarsWhile the have crazy/silly shows, we knew right off the bat not to expect anything great. all employees were really friendly and always on top of everything.Casino: 0 StarsSTAY AWAY FROM THE CASINO1st. This is the saddest casino i have ever been to. they only have 3 tables and a handful of slot machines that do not display the current jackpot.2nd. They will get all of your money if you are not smart and do not know how to say NO. when we walked in they gave us $10 in free play, we were taken to this corner with this guy that looks like he is from the Mafia, right of the gecko we were winning $4000.00 but we needed to keep playing and putting money to win. I was so confused but we know how to say NO and we got out of there. we were so uncomfortable. Food: 0 StarsIf I could give it - 5 stars I would, the food was blend, had not flavored, and we are still trying to get better. our stomach is so messed up.they claimed to have 5 specialty restaurants but what they don't tell you is that not all 5 are open every day. they only open 1 or 2 of the specialty restaurants per night. so you better make your reservations early in the morning. but again the food is not that good, so you will not miss anything. if you are looking for a great hotel with a great location and drinks this is a place to go.TIP: please if you come to this place bring medication, their market is very expensive. a travel size Pepto-Bismol worth $3 at Target is worth $15, a 12 capsule Imodium worth $5 at Target is worth $33 at the Market. so if you get sick of your stomach easy you better be ready or you will pay bit time on your medication.
What an amazing weekend ! All we can say is “ it went by too fast”!!!! What great service and beautiful place. Our room was gorgeous and the facilities were amazingly beautiful! We came for a 4 day weekend and we are definitely returning to beautiful punta Cana. Mildred Sosa, Mariela Fajardo y Ismael Moreta were exceptional taking care of us at the bar. Very attentive and treated us so special. Very friendly and attentive. They were great! We can’t wait to return.
