Our Opinion

The Ocean Blue Punta Cana is a resort that makes up the Ocean Resort suites in the Punta Cana resort strip. Guests who stay in this resort are guaranteed to have a very pleasant stay. The staff are incredibly accommodating and attentive. Many of the staff members are genuinely concerned with the experience of your stay, and try their best to accommodate your needs. The buffet restaurants are always replenished and the food is always fresh. The a la carte restaurants are fairly good as well. However, the service tends to be a bit slower in these restaurants than others. Great little coffee shop that's available in the resort as well.

Surrounded by palm trees and tropical forest, this resort (in right side of photo) offers a gorgeous setting, extraordinary facilities and a great choice of restaurants for your dining experience. Poor service resort

The food was ok at best nothing outstanding about any of it. The room was lacking a lot of provisions, we had no wash clothes no hand towels no phone no remote for the tv and the wifi was horrible, and they provided bathroom toiletries however the box with a tooth brush in it was open and out of the wrapper, after several attempts over two days to get these items we had to find a housekeeping cart and get our own items. Had to take a phone from the vestibule area to have one at all and never did get a tv remote. We were also supposed to have an umbrella in our room, for it rained everyday between 4-6 after several attempts to get one we got it on the last night we were there. The rec room pool tables and ping pong table were trashed and needed replaced. Also twice during the week the had locals set up in front of the restaurants pushing the cheap crap they sale I didn't like that when trying to go eat dinner and getting hounded every twenty feet to come look at their stuff. Also when we first got there our bellboy who acted like he would take care of us got us to meet his supervisor for lunch to tell how he was doing, so we thought that's what he wanted by what he told us, this is the same bell boy who was supposed to get us all the things that weren't in our room, well the lunch turned out to be a sales talk to buy into the resort, the salesman was a good guy and understood that we were not going to buy his two managers didn't quite understand what no means till I had to get nasty with them. Oh and by the way we never got our stuff from the bellboy and we never saw him again around our building unless he was taking other people to the sucker talk and would never make eye contact with me when I tried to. They had no one at the pool waiting on people to get drinks you had to go to the swim up bar to get drinks, which was cool, but you would have thought they would have wait staff getting drinks for the guest. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESORT TO ANYONE.

sons wedding

we went to the ocean blue as a group a couple of days before my son and fiance arrived. first impressions were very good, reception and how quickly they arranged our room was excellent. after unpacking we then went to explore and see what was on offer as in bars, restaurants and pools.we were not dissapointed, two big pools and a little part for the children.we tried all the alacarte restaurants i have to say i was very disapointed with the steak house not a nice steak at all but other people in our group was happy so i was just unlucky. other alacartes were better especially the mexican, but you must try them all, but also the buffet restaurants was just as good and you would have to be very picky to not find anythink to eat.sports bar was a good meeting place also the lobby bar, pool bars great and beach bar my favourite,vladimer,and his crew so good i wish i could remember the other names but all very good.the way the hotel arranged the wedding was fantastic right on the beach i day to remember for us all.all staff from reception to bar crews,, room cleaners waiters,and cleaners very warm and nice people we have been to better hotels but if you are thinking of going to the dominican then give this hotel a very close look at. thanks to all at ocean blue.

Excellent week of fun in the sun

Excellent service throughout the resort. Well above-average specialty dining, especially the hibachi (Japanese), Italian, and French restaurants. Lobby bartenders Sexy Black and Edwin were amazing: fun, friendly, generous and fast with service. Standard room was average for all-inclusive resort, but we had no complaints. The only bad thing there is the Casino, which I recommend staying out of at all costs. They even refused to pay on their "match play" coupon. Horrible and they need to get the people running the casino off this resort. A well-run, friendly casino would make this resort so much better.

Faded glory??

Currently staying here and having read some pretty mixed reviews I thought I would add my five penny worth! If you want a friendly all inclusive resort with a good choice of restaurants and good quality food then I can wholeheartedly recommend this place. The grounds are immaculate and all the staff are friendly and exceptionally helpful. The accommodation is comfortable, the rooms are large with everything you need. Yes if you were to be nitpicking you could find a few things which need a bit of tlc but overall that would probably be a bit unfair. We are having a great time and love this place.

The ocean was nice, the resort - not so much...

Rooms were decent when you could find one that actually worked. Our 16-person group had trouble with each and every room we were in, which was 8 of them. The first four didn't have AC that worked, the shower from the second floor leaked water into the first floor room below it, door frames came OFF and trapped people in the bathroom. The door to one room wouldn't latch closed or lock. Not a single room had a sliding door to the balcony area that would latch or lock, so if you like some semblance of security then avoid this place.We were repeatedly lied to by the staff and the Turrismo, Island Sun and Funjet people booking excursions are complete shysters. Alfred was the worst and booked us on a party boat instead of the snorkeling adventure we asked for, after which he was nowhere to be seen at the resort for the next 3 days. The Turrismo people who are supposedly their bosses were less than helpful when trying to resolve the problem. These are the excursion people that the resort has in the lobby - you'd be better off booking with the folks on the beach than the liars in the lobby.The food was good once we figured out the schedule, however, the restaurants are very small and over half the space in them are reserved for the 'privilege' guests. The resort is constantly bombarding guests to upgrade to the privilege service.If you're planning on using the Wifi here, you'll be very disappointed, too. It didn't work at all in our room (Building 4) and even sitting in the lobby right next to a hotspot doesn't help much. You can at least connect there, but the speed is less than a dial-up connection in the US.I wouldn't stay here again if it was free...
