Our Opinion

The Ocean Blue Punta Cana is a resort that makes up the Ocean Resort suites in the Punta Cana resort strip. Guests who stay in this resort are guaranteed to have a very pleasant stay. The staff are incredibly accommodating and attentive. Many of the staff members are genuinely concerned with the experience of your stay, and try their best to accommodate your needs. The buffet restaurants are always replenished and the food is always fresh. The a la carte restaurants are fairly good as well. However, the service tends to be a bit slower in these restaurants than others. Great little coffee shop that's available in the resort as well.

Another Wonderful Vacation at Ocean Blue and Sand!

The resort has been consistently great. There is a variety of restaurants to choose from with amazing wait staff. They are always willing to accommodate your needs and preferences. The rooms were kept clean, and the housekeepers were always around if you needed anything extra. Our favorite part of the trip was the entertainment. There was always something to do, there were games, contests, and dancing all day long. The entertainers were fully of energy and always around to brighten the mood. One entertainer in particular stood out, Elias, he always made sure everyone was happy and having a good time without being over the top like you may find with some of the other entertainers. He was also always willing to answer any questions about the resort. Elias’s fun and energetic personality help make the trip as wonderful as it was.

A nice resort

We came with a large group of couples. The resort is beautiful & rooms were nice. The staff is very friendly & helpful. The entertainers are awesome & work so hard. Almost everything about the place was great. The downsides are the pool is very cold & the restaurants are hard to get into for dinner - first come, first served - no reservations allowed unless you pay extra for a privileged room. The food was good overall - nothing amazing, but very good.

Still very good

Travelled solo during Dec 21 to Dec 28 - 5th time at this resort.. It's still a fun place but it's starting to look a little tired. Pros - food is decent, pool is nice, lobby area and bar great place for entertainment at night and is a very nice and large space. I love the size of the resort. Everything is within a 5 min walk (or you can take the trolley); Hotel staff work hard, rooms very clean, grounds well kept. Bar tenders at the lobby bar are a blast; SexiBlack was very entertaining and has a pretty darn good voice, Martires and Santana were great as well. Entertainment staff also worked very hard all day long (don't know how they can keep up that pace). I was quite impressed with the dessert buffet they served on Christmas eve. It was over the top. Cons - the beach. No fault of the hotel but mother nature - it has eroded quite a bit.. Because of that the beach area is very crowded. It seems it's just at that hotel. If something isn't done, there won't be Privileged beach area left. It didn't bother me too much as I stayed by the more quite side of the pool and just went to the ocean when I wanted then walked back to the lounge chair by the pool. The rooms a little tired looking but I would understand given the number of guests. that go through that place. Not a 5 star but a very good 4 +.

Great vacation

I loved this little resort , although this resort is small it isn't missing anythingThe food: the buffet food was great, it had the best breakfast buffet ever The steak house was great the food came still sizzling on a hot plate The Japanese was. Great show with equally as good food Route 66 looked like a 1950 diner, but we found the meal to be over done and not enjoyable , it's is a wait for restaurant as there is no reservations unless you are in a upgrade section They also have a beach front buffet for lunch which was great , and smaller outside BBQ , I had a hamburger which was delicious and my husband enjoyed the hot dogs They had 2 great pools and plenty of actively, it was easy to find a chair but if you wanted a shade umbrella you did need to reserve on early with your towels , The beach sand was so soft with plenty of chairs also a little harder to find shade , the beach is under repair has it was hit hard with weather, but it didn't stop a good beach vacation Plenty of bars throughout the resort, with good quality liquor, but you do need to be careful , they DO NOT water it down " so it can sneak up on you. The staff when above and beyond to help you enjoy your stay, and many of them spoke some English .The have a spa and gym but as I didn't use them I can't review them , they do have a walking/ run trail around the resort I like the layout of the resort with buffet in the middle and all restaurants and lobby and 2 stores being together at the top of the resort, and the pool and the beach at the end and rooms in the between . It was a easy walk to get around but if you wanted a trolley was running regularly

Perfect week!

My adult daughter and I spent a week at Ocean Blue and Sand from Dec 27-Jan 3/17. We had a wonderful experience! We found our transfer at the airport quickly and, once at the resort, were registered immediately and a bellboy took our luggage to our room, in Building 3. The room was spacious and clean and provided us with lots of amenities e.g., shower cap, soap, toothbrush kits. We were on the 3rd floor overlooking the main grounds and the view was lovely. Grounds were well-maintained. We had two minor issues with our room, both of which were addressed within 10 minutes. We were most interested in the beach, and that is where we spent our days. No complaints there, lots of loungers and the beach, while somewhat eroded, was pristine and the water clear. The pools looked fun and were always busy but we preferred the beach which was more quiet and condusive to reading. The food was great. My daughter, who is vegetarian, always found lots to eat at the buffet. The only a la carte we tried was the Italian and there was nothing veg on their menu so she requested a bowl of plain pasta. I had lasagne and didn't care for it. Although we didn't eat at the Japanese, she did go there to watch the chef do his amazing "show". We had a few lunch snacks at the beach buffet and the food was always fresh and appealing. Loved all the fresh fruit at the buffets. We would like to give a shout-out to Jonathan A. (so sweet), Hanser, Juan and Anneri at the main buffet as well as Nataniel at the Japanese restaurant and Leonard at the towel/excursion shack. They looked after us very well and were so kind and attentive. The New Years Eve buffet was amazing--so much work and everything artistically presented.I've read negative comments about high-pressure timeshare sales people but we weren't approached once during the week. The only excursion we took was the snorkeling afternoon, lots of fun and reasonable at $55 US.The weather was a steady 28 degrees with only a couple of brief rainfalls in the evening. The fireworks at midnight on New Years Eve were a lovely touch to a week that was all too rapidly coming to a close. It was a great week in all aspects, but the one factor that stands out in our memory is the staff.. they really seem to enjoy themselves and we certainly appreciated them! We will return to Ocean Blue and Sand, for sure!!
