The Ocean Blue Punta Cana is a resort that makes up the Ocean Resort suites in the Punta Cana resort strip. Guests who stay in this resort are guaranteed to have a very pleasant stay. The staff are incredibly accommodating and attentive. Many of the staff members are genuinely concerned with the experience of your stay, and try their best to accommodate your needs. The buffet restaurants are always replenished and the food is always fresh. The a la carte restaurants are fairly good as well. However, the service tends to be a bit slower in these restaurants than others. Great little coffee shop that's available in the resort as well.
One of the best vacations we've had. Beautiful and clean resort. Lots of walking though, but we don't mind that. There's a shuttle you can wait for at various points. We travelled here at least 5 years ago and been to at least 10 other resorts since, but we still come back to our memories here.
This was our first time at Ocean Blue and Sand and we were not disappointed. Check in and out went very fast. Raul took us to our room and showed us around on the way which was very nice. The staff was very friendly. Juan Chocolatè from the entertainment group especially was. He was great at his job and worked hard everyday entertaining people and making sure you had a great time. He was very friendly and made you feel like family. All of the entertainment staff was great, especially Chocolatè, Black Coffee, and Steffany. They work hard all day long to make sure there are activities for you to participate in and have a good time. The shows at night could use some improvement though. The circus and western nights were really good. The pools were very nice and huge. A lot of chairs around the pool. They could use some more umbrellas though. The beach was ok. They have big sandbags trying to help rebuild the beach. Also not very many huts on the beach. If you want an umbrella/hut you need to be out there early or you won't get one. The food was very good. Breakfast always had a good assortment. The waiter, Hanser, was very nice and friendly. He waited on us every morning. The supper buffet we only had twice. It was ok. It could use a little more variety. The a la carte restaurants were good. We really liked the Japanese and the Steakhouse. The Mexican and French were good too. We didn't really care for the Italian. It was nice that the guys didn't have to wear pants for those restaurants except for the French. The drinks and bartenders were good. Sexy Black in the lobby bar is good and very entertaining. The disco was also nice. The sports bar was good. Overall it was a very good trip and resort. We like to try different resorts every year but we would definitely return to Ocean Blue and Sand.
I went with a group of 14 people, we all loved our stay here! The beach was beyond beautiful! Pools were always a blast, swim up bar with bartenders ready to serve! Friendly staff coming around to offer excursions, Boogie Adventures is a must! We decided we wanted to go to the club at the hard rock one night and the front desk arranged transportation for us! Room was always clean, fridge stocked! The food was delicious! I enjoyed the buffet as much as I did the nicer restaurants! We will definitely be back! I will admit the wifi was awful but that just brought us all closer and forced us to put our phones down! Thanks again :)
Ocean Blue and Sand was the perfect place for us to stay where we would have a balance of resort time and time out and about in DR. The hotel itself is very nice, food was good, drinks were good, and all in all affordable. My husband has family in DR so we knew we wouldn't need anything extra fancy. We rented a car for the weekend, which we did right at the hotel. Left to go visit the capital, downtown Punta Cana and Juan Dolio. We woke up one of the morning to find our rental has a flat tire but a hotel staff person offered to change the flat, we tipped him and off we went. The day we arrived at the hotel we were told about a welcome breakfast the next morning and that we should attend. It was all a marketing ploy to sell us their H10 club (or something like that). They kept us for a couple of hours but that wasn't something we were interested in. Wish they hadn't tricked us into that. My oldest son was a big fan of the coffee shop. My kids also loved loved the teen club. They wanted nothing to do with my husband and I at night so they could go hang out there. There were pool tables, video games, a big chess board, and lots of other teen friendly games. My husband and I liked the ambience at night with the shows and the music in the little downtown looking area. We did book one excursion to drive the sand buggies and visit a cenote, a village that makes coffee and a beach. That was really fun and very dirty. We had a really nice family vacation.
This resort has the most beautiful grounds I've seen so far; very well groomed and loads of beautiful trees, plants, and ponds. There is a large variety of restaurants at the resort as well as 2 buffets with a great selection. I highly recommend the Sensai Japanese restaurant, it is EXCELLENT - they cook in front of you on a grill and are very entertaining. Be sure to book a reservation there. Service was top notch, very friendly and fast. Rooms were modern and clean. Good water pressure in the shower. No complaints on any of this. The only negative I've found are the salespeople. The salespeople who roam the resort trying to sell tickets to Coco Bongo and who have tables set up selling trinkets several nights a week are quite pushy and annoying. You cannot escape it on the beach wither, in fact it is worse on the beach. People will walk up to you trying to sell paragliding, excursion packages, hair braiding, even weed. There are a string of huts on the left side of the beach that you have to pass by if you want to walk down that way and people will come up to you constantly, or whistle, or yell, trying to sell things. We did go in a few of them and did buy a few things at a cheap price but not without great annoyance. There are coconuts you can buy for $5 American each that they will chop with a machete for some fresh coconut water. One other not-so-good thing is the strong tide and huge ugly sand bags on the shore that almost resemble rocks. They are quite an eye sore but serve the purpose of taming the strong tide to prevent beach erosion (the shore is a bit eroded and on quite a slope). The rest of the beach is beautiful though, just not directly in front of this resort.Besides the aggressive salespeople and the small section of ugly beach, this resort is so much fun and beautiful. Well worth it.
