The Ocean Blue Punta Cana is a resort that makes up the Ocean Resort suites in the Punta Cana resort strip. Guests who stay in this resort are guaranteed to have a very pleasant stay. The staff are incredibly accommodating and attentive. Many of the staff members are genuinely concerned with the experience of your stay, and try their best to accommodate your needs. The buffet restaurants are always replenished and the food is always fresh. The a la carte restaurants are fairly good as well. However, the service tends to be a bit slower in these restaurants than others. Great little coffee shop that's available in the resort as well.
This is our 7th time at Ocean Blue & Sand. The entertainment staff are fantastic . They make our trip memorable every time . Would not go anywhere besides Ocean Blue & Sand! Special thanks to Superman ,Sexy Black , for always making us feel welcomed !
Worst ever hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Started off on 3rd floor block 9, all you got was men peeing in broad day light on the far track for beach traders. Asked to be moved, which we did, you can read more further down on this. Disgusting, Dirty, Boring, tepid warm food if your lucky, or it was cold, the bedrooms got de-bugged every 3 day’s for cockroaches. It was a disaster from start to end. The staff worked hard 24/7 as if they weren’t entertaining you with dancing lessons, keep fit, learning to cook etc at the ( loud 18/30 group at the pool side. That’s what it seemed like.) the older generations don’t like loud music and silly kids games. Or waiting on you in the restaurants, they were also your evening entertainment. which was the same every night, they had a singer in the lobby every night which was loud, and the staff had to go around picking you to dance with them, then you had to tip them for this service. Also a lot of people like myself like peace and quite while spending a lot of money on a trip, not to hear builders banging around on the roof tops of buildings,chain- saws going chopping palm trees down, edge trimmers and lawnmowers going every day, while trying to rest and make the most of this disastrous holiday. And don’t be fooled if anyone is going to this hotel, you may not of been informed that there are privilege rooms, also some rooms apparently have king size beds in, do check on this as I was not informed of this situation, we were in block 9 which faced the dirty back tradesmen entrance, my poor husband got bitten alive by bed bugs every night, we had ripped sheets and pillows, there was a very distinctive smell in our room of damp, Yes the rooms need a lot of of updating done on them rapidly, I’ve stayed in better B&B’s than this hotel. The beach was disgusting beer cans, cups and a lot of plastic bottles and containers left laying around from the day before. No one done any cleaning, even the pool area got left never picked up cups, never washed the sun beds down, or the path that surrounds the pool, ants appeared where people knocked over there drinks, cigarette buts left from the day before, people smoke in the pool and left the dog ends in the pool. The only place we’re we got treated very nicely and very well looked after was going on the horse riding trip. Done this trip twice, I would only class this hotel a 2/3 star, you can’t give it a 5 star. You couldn’t go outside the complex, unless you were on a supervised trip, if you did go out it was at our own risk, there was even a rep there who had 900 complaints in two weeks. Also no body tells you it a third world country.
I visited this hotel two years ago an it was bad. Food was cheap and badly prepared. They took 3 hours of my day to try to pressure me to buy some time-share. Today I’m here (I had no choice in the matter) I came with a church group and it’s a lot worst now. Toilet was clogged (in the beddrom), service came to fix it and left bathroom dirty. Common area bathrooms were very very dirty and smelly and clogged (including the one in the food hall). Food was still cheap. Men were hammering in the roof of our building. We had a hall for meetings and AC wasn’t working. Personnel as indifferent as ever. Don’t come to this horrible place.
In the space of Seven days vacation, we were shifted to three different rooms. First room we had booked with poolside view ended up having a leak in ceiling of bathroom over the tub. Water was pouring through light fixture. We had just come in from beach, could not shower, called front desk. They sent someone out and they said they would fix. He caulked around light fixture?? we told them we wanted another room as we didn't feel safe with this repair. They moved us to a different building away from our to friends. This room backed onto a service road which workers used to come and go. Th next morning the toilet in this room stopped working. We had to wait most of the morning to have it fixed. When we called the desk re this problem we told them we were very unhappy with the service and also the fact we were separated from our friends. They said they would move us back to the same building later that day. This happens at 6:00 pm. The room they gave us, tv did not work lights did not work and the safe was broken. We fixed the tv ourselves,we got a new safe the next day, we are still waiting for the tch guy to come and program it. We managed through our stay using the big overhead light and the light from bathroom! We realize it was the off season but we paid full price for our stay. The restaurants were not all open. The online pictures of this resort is not quite what you get.
Just returned from this resort from a weeks vacation. We have been to many different islands in the Caribbean and this was our first trip to the Dominican Republic . The first impression of the resort was positive. The restaurants were excellent , especially the French. The food was delicious , but all four of us were battling a upset stomach all week. Not to blame it on the food, maybe something else? The tap water for brushing teeth is not recommended. The room were very nice and neat. The toilet plugged up twice, it’s not recommended to flush toilet paper down! That was an inconvenience . But the cleaning staff did a incredible job with our room day in day out. The staff at the resort were very friendly, although many times there was a language barrier. The grounds were very neat, the entertainment top notch ! The pools were large and fun! The turn off was the beach sand bags in the water. They were not pleasant to look at every day, but we understand why they were there , to stop beach erosion. We just moved on further down the beach to avoid this. The biggest complaint was the vendors on the beach and when they come on the resort. Aggressive is an understatement. We don’t like to complain, but they just wouldn’t take no for an answer. We never have experienced this before and to us it’s a big turn off. Overall is was an enjoyable vacation and provided much needed rest!!
