The Reserve at Paradisus Punta Cana Resort
- What's Included

The Reserve at the Punta Cana Resort is the perfect destination for both families and couples. The resort is amazing with its staff. They are incredibly attentive and ensure that you're getting the most out of your stay. The nightly shows that are held daily are pleasantly entertaining. The beach and pool area are gorgeous. Make sure that you check out the spot specifically meant for Reserve guests. There is a special spot for these guests, where there are plenty of loungers. Good options to choose from with regards to the buffet and a la carte food choices.
A little late in posting but we went there in late July. The resort is huge and has beautiful facilities and grounds. Initially we were very disappointed that we were given a room that faced a parking lot but the manager made it right and moved us the next day to a room facing the pool. The rooms were decent. Not great but decent. A little outdated but they were clean and the bathroom was big. There are no elevators so you have to walk up steps to get to your room. We did not mind that though. The staff was always courteous and helpful. It is a 10 minute (very hot) walk to the beach. Hard to catch a shuttle there because unless your room is by the main lobby the shuttles do not come by often. The beach was very pretty. There was lots seaweed in the water but that is mother nature and not the hotel. The water is still a stunning green color. The beach bar staff were fun and quick to serve drinks. I really enjoyed the resort restaurant food but the teen girls I was with did not. There were plenty of options though that kept them fed. One of my girls got deathly sick the last day there. So sick that she had to be hospitalized for 6 days after. We were glad she was able to make it home on the plane to get treated in an American hospital. She got a bacteria infection that turned septic. Doctors said it could have been anything...fruit, bacteria in water, dirty glass. It could have been from the hotel but it could have been from a boat excursion we went on too. Hard to know. Out of 3 of us she is the only who got sick and I ate and drank more than anyone. Anytime you go out of the US that is one of the risks you can run into. Overall our stay was pleasant. I have been a little frustrated since we got back I have been trying to contact their lost & found. My daughter thinks she left a $400 Tory Burch watch in the room. I have tried and tried to call and get info about a lost and found. No one seems willing to even look. Keep getting transferred to 3 to 4 different people every time I call. I probably won't go back but I do not regret going. I would suggest if you go to bring lots of dollar bills to tip the staff. They really do work hard and every tip I gave I felt was truly appreciated.
This was our third year staying at a Paradisus resort, and second year at the Reserve at Punta Cana. Overall, our stay was wonderful and, in retrospect, any (mostly minor) complaints that we had during our stay are due to the fact that Paradisus has provided such top quality and consistent services for the past three years you do not even realize how far above any other all inclusive resorts they are (more on that below).Check in was quick and painless. The only real hiccup in our trip was that we reserved a suite with a king bed and were given one with 2 doubles. Regardless, this issue was immediately and personally addressed by management and we were moved to different room the next day. So apart from a little consternation in the beginning, this issue in no way affected the remainder of our stay, and everyone at the resort followed up with us on numerous occasions to make sure that we had all that we needed. The rooms themselves are fantastic and very well stocked. Any special requests we had for food or drink were immediately met.The resort is absolutely beautiful and impeccably maintained. The entire resort is relatively small and, while golf carts are available, nothing is more than 10 minute walk away. The beach is beautiful. This year there was a fair amount of seaweed, but that certainly did not keep any one out of the water. The kids club was very nice and they have tons of activities going on everyday. While our two kids (8 and 10 years old) chose to mainly hang out at the beach this time around, they certainly loved going and playing air hockey and fooseball. The staff at the kids club were all extremely friendly, energetic and engaged with all of the children. If you are of the mind, the gym is very nice and offers many different classes. My wife and I both took some spin classes (because it counts twice if you work out on vacation!), which were very good. Keep in mind that the gym is fairly small so you may have to wait for some machines. Also, the gym is very very humid so be prepared to sweat a ton and drink lots of water. Our family concierge, Sofia, was wonderful. She was extremely considerate and followed up with us several times during the day to see what she could do to make our stay more pleasant. Apart from sending special treats to our room, she also helped us with our excursions and generally made sure that our stay went smoothly. A big thanks to Sofia! The food is absolutely wonderful, This resort caters to an international crowd, which is reflected in food found at the buffets and restaurants. That being said, even our picky 8 year old found things he loved at every meal. There was lots of fresh fruit and vegetables and, overall, the quality of food at the buffets was extremely high. The restaurants we went to for dinner were all very good. As opposed to other places we have been, the food at the different restaurants did not taste as if they had all been prepared in the same kitchen, If you can swing it, I definitely recommend going to Passion for dinner, This is their fine dining restaurant and is for adults only. You have to pay extra for the multi course tasting menu (and even more if you want wine pairings), but is certainly worth the price. Keep in mind that you need to where long pants and a nice shirt. The food was delicious, beautifully presented and paired perfectly with the wine. The service was amazing - definitely with the splurge! The only restaurant I would probably avoid is The Winery. This was a new place and it may have just been going through growing pains, but it did not seem that they had really figured out what its concept was. The actual restaurant space was very nice, however, it does not have its own menu. Rather, you have the option of ordering off of 3 different restaurant menus (the italian place, mexican place and steak house) and then "pairing" the food with wines. When we went, we assumed that there would some suggestions as to what wine would go with the specific menu we ordered from (especially as you we were paying extra for wine), however, we had to order wine before we were even given menus and while they had a sommelier, he was essentially no more than a waiter. Given the fact that the wine on the list is identical to the wine you can purchase at any of the other restaurants, we just did not see the point of this place. The biggest changes we noticed this year had to do with dinner selections and towels. In the past years, you had the ability to choose which day you went to a specific restaurant. Now, we submitted a 'wish list' of the places we wanted to eat and our family concierge would make the reservations and advise us when and where we would be eating. Not really a big deal as we were able to eat everywhere we wanted. The towel policy was a little more annoying. We were given a card for each family member that we could trade in for a towel. When we returned the towel, the card would be given back. If you lost the card you were charged $20. My issue was that depending where you were (and especially if you were on the Reserve Beach), it could be very difficult to find a place to return your towel towards the end of the day forcing you to lug around a wet towel. Again, this was certainly not the worst thing in the world and as this was probably our biggest complaint, this resort is doing alright!!None of the above complaints should in any way detract from how wonderful The Reserve is. This was made even more apparent when we ended up spending the night at a different resort due to our plane being cancelled for mechanical reasons. The airline put us up at a different resort somewhat near the airport. While this resort looked beautiful, the food and rooms were of such a different standard when compared to the Reserve that it was laughable!I wholeheartedly recommend staying at the Reserve!
The place is beautiful!! Our concierge Elaine greeted us as soon as we walked in. She had a surprise for us every day in our room! She constantly checked on us and made sure that we were enjoying our stay. The resort is just beautiful and the staff there is so caring and sweet. Not one bad experience !! I highly recommend this place 😊
I have to say that I am very impressed with the service, the amenities and the extra care the staff demonstrated during our stay. I would like emphasize that everybody was very nice and amicable.Asia Mateo was the one person who assisted my cousin to organize such a great family reunion. She truly went the extra mile in every aspect!!!I also appreciated very much the great service and willingness to do a great job from Juan Carlos Guede, Frankeli Morrobel, Joe Martinez, Ysabel Maldonado, Santa Romero, Ramon and Luis at the Reserve Beach, Yaritza Rodriguez, Catalina Ventura, Sulverio Laguna, Anthony Cid, Cerso Peralta, Sija Aquino, Julio Alberto, Luis Jose Pena, Manuel Reynoso, Raul Marrero, Liz Pen, Juan Manuel Feito and Isidro at Passion Restaurant. Additionally, I would also like to thank the Chef of the Gaby Club Miguel Deano and his team for pleasing my family preparing special dishes. They even prepared some food that was not on the men for my family!!! THAT'S WHAT I CALL GREAT SERVICE.I hope that I can go back next year.Thank you All!!!Maria T. Romero
My girlfriends and I stayed here for a girls trip and it was a blast! The service was outstanding from check in to check out. The beach waiters were super fast and attentive and the drinks were always delivered quickly. Our butler took really good care of us from the moment we stepped foot on the property. He booked all of our dinner reservations and came out to the beach every day to check on us. He also sent over a birthday cake for me on the day of my birthday, which was super sweet. I will say, the food wasn't great. Neither the buffet, nor the restaurants... I have to add that I've never really had any great food in the Dominican Republic in general, and that is simply my opinion. The food situation doesn't take away from the fact that this place is very well kept and the service is awesome. The friendly staff and beautiful surroundings makes up for the food, in my opinion. We had a wonderful trip, and I would recommend this hotel to friends!!
