The hotel is beautiful and in an excellent location. The check-in process took very long because the reserved room was smaller than number of people in my party. Inquired about the possibility of changing reservation to a larger room and paying the difference but this was just not possible. Had to pay more for a separate room. Ended up carrying our bags to the room because it took them too long to assist. Overall, I feel the hotel was great just understaffed at the time of our visit.
These are serviced apartments. Stunning views and quite tastefully designed and decorated. Sadly the a.c. and ceiling fans fairly noisy and curtains inadequate for the fright sun for those who like a sleep-in (but you should be up looking at the view, right?). Wi-Fi, where available, is basically unusable: like the food and water it's BYO (serviced apartments, remember). But GREAT VIEWS, nice decor and a reasonable price tag, USD 165 plus tax (= 221 per night). Lovely pool and restaurant but food only fair. Two private beaches at the foot of the hill. Breakfast nice. Really nice staff.
Breathtaking view, nice place, nice Hotel, quiet, clean and neat.Personalized attention during breakfast. It is a beautiful place, just in the middle of Samaná (and you may go to many places/beaches around) from there or simple stay at the beach in the Hotel which is an absolutely private one. Apartments has everything, including dishwasher for those in long stay.We will repeat it!!!!!!
The views are absolutely beautiful. Our apartment was clean, modern, and everything worked. The concierge Christopher was so nice and helpful. He spoke some English and made us feel Welcomed. Other than that we were pretty much on our own. The restaurant is not impressive at all. It is pretty atmosphere but not much selection. No frozen drinks or specialty drinks and no veggies (except a lettuce salad). Staff nice but not very interactive and no one goes above to be friendly. I absolutely hated the steep hill you have to walk to get to the main ground. If you are looking for somewhere to stay without interruptions or interaction, that is quiet, and where you would do and find your own recreation this is the place to stay. Take food with you from the local market before going to the resort. The market on the grounds is never open and does not have much to offer. Be sure to take cases of water from the local mart because you will be charged for it on the resort and have to walk up the steep hill to get it. Overall I lost weight on this vacation from the lack of food and walking that hill. If you are flying into Santo Domingo be aware Samana is about 2.5hours away from the airport and will cost nearly 300 for a taxi EACH WAY. You can take a Caribe Tours bus for about 8 dollars and it is a beautiful comfy ride but you will pay nearly 20 for a taxi to Caribe Tours and then another 20 from the bus station to your resort.
The location of Vista Mare is on a hillside overlooking beautiful Samana Bay ... You defiantly need a car to get around .... The service there was sporadic , the girls in the office barely spoke any English and were kind of rude to my husband and I ....In the restaurant there was a fellow who spoke a little English and was friendly , that made for a better experience except for the ridicules over priced wine and food !! If you like pools , there are two beautiful infinity pools overlooking the bay ..... They offer to have your room cleaned by maids for a small price but we couldn't get it because ., again , no one could understand us ..... My husband and I were there for two weeks , last week of Feb till March .8 th 2016 .. we were very excited , well ,... Much to our char grin , once in the room , we discovered red ants !!! There were everywhere , bathroom , bedroom , living area and really bad in the kitchen ... Crawling all over our clothes as well ... Was horrifying ... We had to buy ant traps , Which kept them at bay for a time ... Not long tho ... also the kitchen fan above the stove was on the fritz ... The air conditioning wasn't working in the living space except for the bedroom which conked out the day before we left ! When the temp is 35 to 40 degrees everyday , you need some air !! My husband was so disgusted with bathroom , he felt compelled to scrub it from top to bottom ..... It was mouldy and filthy and covered in ants ..... Fortunately , the owner had bought a new fridge ., so that was clean and working .... The only thing that saved this trip was the spectacular view !! If you don't care about filth and ants , this is the place for you !!! The kicker is ... We spoke with the owner and she knew about the ants and the broken air conditioning and is still renting it out !!
