Be Live Experience Hamaca

Our OpinionThe Be Live does have some redeeming qualities as a resort that could potentially do well amongst the resorts in Santo Domingo. However, with ongoing issues regarding resort grounds (needing for a long overdue upgrade), the state of the rooms, and customer service, there are better options elsewhere. There are also long transfers from the airport to this resort, making it a less than desirable resort option. The price maybe attractive but a bad resort can certainly ruin what is suppose to be a nice vacation. Not a hotel that we recommend
Location: On Boca Chica beach, 1 hour and 45 min from La Romana airport, 25 min from Santo Domingo and 3 hours from Punta Cana.
All my excitement for Hamaca Hotel, Boca Chica went down: ROOM: Leaking toilet, Curtains dry rotted, Cockroaches, Mosquitos, Bath tub very disgusting and rusty. EMPLOYEES: very unfriendly, talking to each other, and don't pay attention to you. FOOD: very salty, not too many choices. GUESS: To many Europeans white trash, very disrespectful, without home manners.
I am a traveler and have been to many places in the Dominican Republic. But this has been the worst place I've ever been to. Service is super poor. Rooms are disgusting! Moldy and humid smell. Phones did not work, sheets were dirty. Had to ask many times to have them changed. Drinks were horrible. Beaches extremely dirty! Beware... NO WIFI!! Only 1 hour free. After that you have to pay out your pocket. Food was disgusting! No one at the front desk at night. Please do not waste your $$$ and time! Go elsewhere! I do not recommend this at all!!
First off let me start by staying I had a wonderful time on my vacation. The weather was gorgeous, the drinks flowed and the scenery was amazing. I was at the resort from 2/16-2/19/2017. Upon arrival the staff was pleasant and check in when smoothly. If you go make sure you don't lose the bracelet that they give you. It will be $200 to replace it :-/. Upon entering the rooms I noticed that they walls looked old and could use a touch up. Upon entering the room itself I immediately noticed that the room did not look like the pictures on the website. I found out later, during a tour, that they rooms on the website were from the VIP/ time share rooms. Our room had some mold around the jets and in a closet so we called around 10 pm to complain about it. We were told that some one would be there in 5 mins. They never came. Whatever. If you plan on eating at the restaurant make your reservations as soon as you arrive. We could not get in either of the days we were there. Now for the good. Some of the staff was amazing! Pedro in the dinner buffet was amazing, helpful and always kept our cups full of rum punch. He we out of his way to go find some when the bar in the kitchen was out. Another person that showed my friend and I a great time was Will I am. From the moment we stepped on the beach our first day, he made sure we knew every activity that was going on and even suggested some places and events to us. The man has like 4 jobs there. He would be there from 10 am until after 1 am and the entire time he was full of energy and had a great attitude. Between him and Pedro they made my friend and I forget about our complaints with the resort itself. As long as we were outside of the room we had a great time. Hats off to Will I am and Pedro. Thank you for your hospitality and making our vacation great. As a suggestion: Bring cash, you can get better deals. Do the Blue Lagoon excursion. Bring OFF bug spray, extra beach towel and sunscreen. Don't focus on the inside stay outside and have fun!
Me my daugther and a friend of mine just came back on Feb 18/2017 from Boca Chica Be Live Hamaca Suite. I've be travelling for the past 6 years and I have to say that this Resort is the worse. The people were somewhat friendly but the resort was overly crowded. Plus you go on their site and they dont say that the Be live garden the be live beach and the be live suites are all in one reosrt. We for a week wasent able to sleep because our suite tower face the street and the village beach. Every night going to bed we were woken up by dogs barking or fighting till the early morning hours, we had no air conditioning for the hole week, the food was not the gratest I had better food in Dominican before. The people that works at the hotel barely understand when you talk to them in english they say yeah yeah but they have no clue what you are saying. I was so dissapointed about this resort and I will never go back and I would advise that people that are planning a trip there get your money back because it's not worth it not worth a 4 star its more like a 2 star. So please people make sure your read all the reviews because they are true. From a person that don't need much when going on vacation except what I paid for. Thanks for reading.......
There are three TripAdvisor entries for what is essentially one resort: Suites, Beach and Garden. The negative reviews on the Suites page on TripAdvisor seem to relate to the Garden section of the hotel, so read carefully. Presidential Suites: the hotel rents out condo suites owned by individuals on their behalf. Kind of like airbnb. Our suite was 2400 sq ft! Kitchen, living room, dining room, and three full bedrooms and baths upstairs. Just phenomenal. Our suite was looking a bit worn down, but for what we paid, we couldn't complain. It was clean and big. Lots of room for the family. Walk into Boca Chica and buy some essentials because the walk from the Presidential Suites to the buffet is not short. Pool and beach: the beach is wonderful. Nice sand. But it is busy and people get up at the crack of dawn to reserve chairs, so don't be disappointed if you can't get one. The Caribbean sea is always lovely. The water in the pools was cool/cold at times. The beach chairs in the Gardens section pool look like they should have been replaced years ago. Towels - get them early in the day. You have to pay a deposit at the front desk first. There is no one really trying to sell you anything on the beach, which is appreciated. It is a private beach that is calm. Thanks for that. There are guys in hats walking around trying to sell their timeshare holidays. They will circulate around the property and are obviously very friendly. Food: The beach snack bar has a limited menu: fries, hot dogs, hamburgers, beans, rice, salad, sometimes chicken or fish, but that's it, everyday. It was good enough. No real complaints other than on variety. The buffet had a limited breakfast menu. Again, not a quality issue but rather a variety issue. People are animals sometimes when a new fruit platter is brought out. They wait patiently, but when it arrives, you'd better be ready to get in there! The a la carte restaurants were good. Good variety and quality. Eat there. There is a VIP lounge that is on the top floor. Excellent. You can have all meals there, drinks, and a quiet rooftop location. Free wifi up there. We loved it. Check in and out from the 6th floor if you have access to the VIP lounge and bypass the lobby check-in, which is very busy. Wifi: practically nonexistent at this resort. You get 60 minutes free per day per device, but the speed is circa 1995 dial-up. You can pay USD60 for a week, but it likely won't work in your room. Hopefully you have a good roaming package on your mobile phone. Overall: This is a value-for-money resort. They're trying hard. 80% good. If you focus on the 20% that is not good, you will be disappointed. The people are friendly and for what you pay, you're getting a good deal. You could pay double and get only a slightly better experience elsewhere. What is obvious is that the resort, despite its negative ratings (some well deserved), is seemingly completely full. This is a busy place, which may explain why it feels like they're constantly trying to catch up. If the ratings were bad and no one was there, then I would understand. But it is busy. About Boca Chica: The town will remind you that this is still a developing country. I didn't have any real security concerns, but it does feel like its best days were behind it. Friendly people and a good walk up and down once or twice or to buy knick knacks, but unless you're looking for a specific service late at night, there's no reason to walk around.
