The Be Live does have some redeeming qualities as a resort that could potentially do well amongst the resorts in Santo Domingo. However, with ongoing issues regarding resort grounds (needing for a long overdue upgrade), the state of the rooms, and customer service, there are better options elsewhere. There are also long transfers from the airport to this resort, making it a less than desirable resort option. The price maybe attractive but a bad resort can certainly ruin what is suppose to be a nice vacation. Not a hotel that we recommend
Location: On Boca Chica beach, 1 hour and 45 min from La Romana airport, 25 min from Santo Domingo and 3 hours from Punta Cana.
Such a disaster of a vacation, this is one hotel that will make or break your experience in Dominican Republic, My sincere opinion is not worth the money they charge, the food is below average, the drinks are horrible, the rooms are moldy, old paint peeling of the walls, mold on the outside of the hotel, is by far the worst hotel I ever stayed at! too much money for the quality, the pictures they use on line , are not accurate, you will be sourly disappointment!! and to make matters worse they are irresponsible, Stuff was missing from our room and they did not even try to help locate it.
Unfortunately, I cannot give this hotel ZERO stars... but if this is one of your choices - choose another.We booked an all in vacation with Sunwing - February 2017 - we purchased the upgrade VIP.When we got to the hotel - they were overbooked - we spent almost 4 hours trying to get our rooms sorted. When we finally get our rooms sorted - we are in the base of a tower (apparently a very prestigious spot, according to management) - on the MAIN floor, overlooking a road.We have traveled with Sunwing for approximately 7 years and have never been treated with such disdain or ignorance.As VIP we were to have upgraded check in; upgraded beach access; drinks, etc. NONE of this happened - we spoke with our Sunwing reps - absolutely useless and really not the least bit interested in our issues.What a fight to get a spot on the beach under an umbrella - seasonal travelers lock them all up each night - with chains and ties - ridiculous. Then in the morning - try to get a beach towel - doesn’t happen - if you are a seasonal and have the cell phone number you can call ahead (prior to 8 am opening) to reserve your package of 40 towels for your group - and then the rest of us have to wait until... well, they are not sure, they are in the laundry - probably later in the afternoon.VIP beach access - non-existent - if you want to pay $15,000 - you can access the private beach here and where ever else in the world they have a spot - what about the VIP beach? You can check with management (if you can find them) or your sunwing rep - but .. Again... they have to be interested in helping and they are not.The a la carte restaurant is a joke - again, certain parties who are seasonal push ahead of you in line and take the whole platter of whatever food they deem appropriate - god forbid you use manners and leave some for the next person.The VIP lounge .. Ha!! We spent our week trudging daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner to this area - apparently staff does not understand english here .. Well, until the last day when they spoke excellent english. I hope they overheard all our complaints (and took them back to management) about the hotel, the staff, the food, the cleaners, etc.We had problems in our room with a/c and tv - apparently the staff fixed this. This is what they told Sunwing when we returned from our vacation. They didn't...On the day we arrived - we were in touch with our travel agent - asking for help with our reservations, rooms, etc. Our travel agent attempted to get things sorted through Sunwing.When we got home - we followed up - we had taken notes every day and provided the synopsis to Sunwing - Belive indicated that we basically lied about our problems - however, they offered us a refund of one night - deplorable ... disgusting. Not sure about you - but I work hard for my money; I save all year to go away in February - I want to stay at a place that has some respect for the fact that I CHOSE to stay at their hotel... I don’t want to be treated with the disrespect we received from Belive Hamaca.I am sure for YOUR money there are better spots to stay.
After waiting in line to check in, I was told I had to go to VIP check in which was a 10 minute walk away. Finally after getting to the room, their was no running water anywhere in the room. Called and they said they would send someone up. After waiting an hour called again. No one would answer the phone, so I had to walk 10 minutes down to the main lobby and find someone to complain too. Guest services said they would have someone there in 30 minutes. 2 hours go by and nobody showed up had to walk down stairs again. She said they were coming. They refused to change my room. Been here over 3 hours no water and they cant change my room or fix water. Finally after another hour a man shows up and says i cant fix it. They will be up to bring you to another room. Wait another hour. Nobody shows up. Walk back down stairs. Lady says l thought it was fixed, I said Nooooo. She finally gives me keys to another room. Did not offer to help with luggage. We packed went to the other room, opened door with key and people were in there sleeping. I have keys to a occupied room. Back down stairs we go. The lady says sorry. And gets another key. This time she walks with us. This room has water but the AC cannot be turned up. Its freezing !!! Horrible experence will NEVER return. Food also horrible
My fiance and I drove from Puerto Plata ( 5 hours away) to catch our 3:50 Am from the airport in Santo Domingo. We figured we would get a room for the night, grab dinner and leave around midnight. We arrived there at 5 PM, after 30 minutes waiting at the front desk, they advised us that there was not a confirmation. Presented my confirmation to the front desk, the told us that it takes hours to put into the system and to come back in an hour or two. We went to dinner, waited an hour and a half to be told that it was still not in the system and didnt have our confirmation. They just kept going to the back of the room, coming back 15 mins later and again confirming a no go. I asked the front desk to reach out to priceline to confirm and he refused. I personally reached out to their customer support, they put me on hold and tried to call the front desk to fix the issue. I physically watched the front desk hang up multiple times after hearing it was priceline. I walked my phone over to the front desk asked them to take the call and again they refused, now saying that they have to personally reach out not me( complete contradiction to the initial statement). After losing my mind and demanding the phone front desk told priceline that they actually do have the confirmation but there isnt anyone there to put it into the system but what they can do for me was take my credit card, charge an absurd rate (we paid 120 for the night he wanted 230) and then when one of their lazy staff could input the information they would refund me. NO THANK YOU!! We opted out and drove through what we would call hell on earth, their traffic, and spent 8 hours at the airport. Thank you for the terrible service and again .. SCAM.. you are what lifestyle holidays true to and proven to be a pyramid scheme timeshare with no regard for customer service and just trying to make money by stealing from Americans. Save yourself the money and go to Mexico for all inclusive.
We had a horrible experience from beginning to end. The staff mostly seemed like we were bothering them with our problems and some were even rude. We had to do a line for 22 minutes for us to get our keys and walk what seemed like a mile (including a pool of water in the hallway to get to our rooms as shown in the first picture).After getting to our rooms we noticed that the AC didn't work so we had to walk back to the lobby. When we went back to the room both key cards were deactivated so we had to wait for them to code them.But it wasn´t only that:*The shower was clogged.*The cable service wasn't working.*The bed cover was full of dirt.*We had to get a supervisor to get towels and soap for our room since there wasn't any when we got there and we tried calling customer service several times.*After 2 trips to the lobby we found out that we would need to go to the lobby for the 3rd time to get towels since you don't get them unless you specifically ask for them(and for the first time in over 15 years going to resorts in this country I was told I had to pay a deposit if I wanted beach towels).Bottom line is don't waste your money coming here, there are several resorts in the area that provide much better quality of service for a similar cost.
