We stayed at Emotions February 5-12, 2018. We went with another couple and we all loved the resort. Here is my breakdown:1. Yes, the resort is 90 minutes from Punta Cana, but I knew that before I booked. Do your homework and you will not be suprised.2. We stayed in building #4, the adult only building. We were in room 4311, overlooking the pool. Room was clean was super clean and well stocked. Air Conditioning worked and we had plenty of hot water. Bed was comfy, pillows were not great, but if you used 2, it was ok.3. Buffets were fantastic, the buffet by the pools was bigger and had more selection than the beach buffet.4. A la carts. We loved the Italian and Mexican, the Dominican was not our favourite (personal taste, nothing wrong, just not my thing)5. Pools... fantastic. Adult pool was smaller but quiet6. Ocean had some seaweed, but you could easily find a place to walk in without it. Nice beach. We could not find chairs, but we were in the water, so no big deal.7. Service...this was 5+ stars. Adriana was fantastic. Best service we have ever had at any resort we stayed at, anywhere. 8. Drinks, excellent, they had everything we could want or need. We are not fussy about top shelf liquor, so this made no difference to us.9. The coffee bar was a nice touch10. The hot dogs in the beer shop were gross... stay away. The popcorn was good and fresh11. The resort gift shop is pricey, go down the street about 2 minutes and get your items for half the priceOverall, we loved it. We will go back.Highly recommend for a quiet, small resort for relaxing.
We stayed as a family of 3 the week of Feb 5 - 12. First off, BEWARE that this resort is friggen 2 and a half hours from punta cana airport. This adds exhaustion to your travel day!! I am going to review here my personal pros and cons...PROS-Good food, LOVED the Mexican restaurant and Dominican restaurant. the fruit smoothies in the am were great.- Kids club was great and CLARA is awesome. Our little blondie loved her and so did I. - Michael Jackson show rocked. - Dominican people are lovely and service overall was great- beds are comfy\- pool is nice and entertainment is good- I liked the music they played around the resort, its chill- I liked that there were dogs and kitties around. (Im an animal person:)- the coffee shop is AWESOME, delicious coffee drinksCONS- beach (and I weep as I say this) is terrible. Tonnes of seaweed. I have never seen a beach I didn't like but this was one. Bring your swim/beach shoes if you come here because it is super rocky- there is a bit of a language barrier as we had trouble getting clean towels the first day we got there. But we see the hearts of the staff and they are good- the mixed drinks are not good. They just don't taste good. Its weird and the wine is also terrible- there are smokers everywhere and for someone like myself who has asthma this was a major negative. I was walking into smoke all the time and feeling ill because of it. NOT COOL.- not enough beach chairs around the pool. Don't know why this is. - it rained every day in the afternoon!!!!! :( We LOVE DR and DR people so we will be back but not to this resort.
Stayed week of Feb 4-11with a group of 6. Had a great time. We were in building 9 which is the furthest out. A little far, not a great view from the room, but it was quiet. Our room was cleaned well daily. The resort is lovely, never had a problem finding chairs by the pool or beach. They could use a few more umbrellas by the pool and some palapas on the beach. The service at this resort is the best that we have had in a long time, either at the buffet, restaurants, bars or poolside! Special thanks to the very lovely & friendly Mildred, Luce, and Arianna, who added to the enjoyment of our trip.
Visited this hotel from February 3-10 with 5 ladies and had an awesome time. There are many things that stand out about this resort, but what stood out for me was outstanding service. We felt like we were treated like royalty pretty much anywhere we went. I am going to start this review by naming the staff that really stood out for us.The best bartender - Juan GilbertoBest Waiter at Ooh la la - PasquelBest Waiter who worked at Bigaro but seemed to be everywhere - Jose CastilloBest Waiter at Oregano (Dominican Restaurant) - Domingo EncarnacionThis hotel is 2 years old and appears modern with good amenities. Rooms are large and clean. The bathroom set up is a bit different, the toilet and showers are both behind glass doors and there is a double sink in the center of the 2. If you are traveling with someone other than your spouse there is limited privacy. There is a coffee maker in the room and a mini fridge which is stocked daily with soft drinks, beer and lots of water.I can't comment on the pools as I am a beach person. We stayed on the beach each night until the sun went down. The beach is quite lovely, it doesn't have the pure white sand of Bavaro beach but was still lovely. We were able to find shade every day which was good. This resort is very quiet. If you are looking for a party atmosphere with a lot of activities and extravagant shows this would not be the place for you. We were looking for a quiet vacation on the beach reading books and it served our purpose wonderfully. We had dinner each night and went to the outside bar by the ocean. There were very few people there but the service was fantastic, our wine glasses were never empty. We were able to eat at each of the a la carte restaurants which I will review belowDominican - food was great - service was amazing the first night we were there and not so good the second night when Domingo was off.Italian - food was great and hot - service was outstandingMexican - food was fantastic - the service was slow but waiters were very niceWe ate at the buffets for breakfast and lunch. There isn't a vast selection of food but what was there was very good. There was lots of fresh vegetables for salad and fresh fruit every day.It was very easy to book reservations at this resort. No long line ups. We just stopped at reception on the way to the beach and booked our reservation for the evening. When reading the reviews you will notice the beach is across the road from the resort. It isn't actually a road it is more like a sidewalk, don't let this stop you from booking this resort. It really was no big deal. The resort is quite small and it only takes 5 minutes or so to walk from one end to the other.I don't often return to the same resort twice and can easily say that I would book this hotel again. I felt very welcomed upon my return and several of the staff remembered me which was very nice.Overall a fantastic holiday.
Travelled with a group of 5 ladies Feb 3-10. We found the staff at the resort awesome! Rooms - were spacious and beds were pretty comfy. Mini fridge had 3 water, soft drinks and 2 Coors Light. When the staff noticed I drank only the Pepsi Lite, they then left me 2 everyday. Food - No complaints, we ate at the buffet the fist evening, The Italian (my favourite) and Domican twice and the Mexican once. We also booked the Lobster dinner on the beach for a special birthday treat. It was delicious and our waiter Jose Antionio Castille went above and beyond to make the night fun. Breakfast buffet always had bacon! LOL. Thank you Diego for awesome service at the breakfast buffet. Juan was our favourite bartender at the beach bar. Wifi - was spotty in my room and at the beach. Usually available in the restaurants, buffets, around the pools and in some rooms. We flew into Santa Domingo airport and it was about 30 minutes on the bus to the resort. I cannot tell you about excursions or the temperature at the pool as we were at the beach everyday until sundown. We did take in the Michael Jackson show which was very good. Overall I would recommend this resort.
