Stayed at Casa Marina again for the 3rd time in September 2016. What can I say.... I love this place. I travelled with my 2 sons who also had an amazing time. Everything about this resort was great. Really loved the entertainment staff, shout out to VLADY, OLVIS, DANIEL, DJ FRANKLIN, YARITZA and SCARLETT. They were amazing!! xoxoxFood and drinks were good, as well as our accommodations. Ventured off the resort every day, Dominicans are amazing. Cant wait to return with my friend/sista in January 2017. We missing you guys!!! See you soon, We'll be back...get ready for us!!!
Excellent service on arrival they offer you at the reception.the rooms are comfortable and very clean excellent service housekeeper. The resort has 3 excellent pools and always clean just like the jacuzzi.the food is very good and always with great varieties to eat.Super entertainments better all the time doing activities at night its spectacular shows at the theater.I want to give thanks to the animation guy by the services that gave us our family and name is Olvis thank you for your attention.I hope to return very soon is an excellent hotel to hang out with his family not to have any complaints ....
Overall i did enjoyed myself, The beaches are beautiful the staff where fantastic although i wasn't a fan of the front desk staff but there excursions staff are incredibly smart sweet and helpful. i also felt very comfortable leaving the resort for shopping which i didn't think i would be we even found an awesome Canadian owned restaurant 5 mins from the resort which i was thankful for because the food wasn't very good nor did it look appetizing whats so ever i was basically starving by the time we found that restaurant. Our room was horrible the door didn't shut without slamming resulting in pissed of neighbors it the phone didn't work even after asking to have it replaced our light was hanging from the wall and the bathroom was never cleaned properly and was not cleaned threw out our visit. They did not bring new water bottles each day like promised so i had to go to a local store and buy some. but honestly for 700 Canadian dollars in January it was a great price and a good experience i would recommend to couples or even a girls trip if your on a tight budget and do not have high expectations sadly this was my first all inclusive vacation so i was really disappointed.
If you are looking for an inexpensive trip Casa Marina Reef has fit the bill for us several times. The rooms may not be fancy but they are always clean and I do not know about you but since we only sleep and shower in our rooms they fit the bill. The resort is long and narrow with the buildings running lenghthwise towards the ocean with the pool in between. The maids are not only friendly but efficient. We like a room at the end of the building which when you sit on the porch you have a beautiful view of the ocean. The resort is set on a volcanic reef and there are two beaches. The smaller of the beaches is easier to reach but also the busier of the two. The second beach is reached by a set of stairs and is also a public beach. It is our favourite for many reasons. We love to snorkle and due to the cliff which the resort is set on there is much to see along the cliff. It is fun snorkeling for no charge when you see boats arriving with people who have paid for an excursion to snorkle and dive in the area. During the week the beach is quiet and even on weekends when the locals make use of the area it is still not a bad place to be. Depending on the time of year you go the sand can get extremely hot. If you are there in the summer months I would recommend that you wear shoes no sandals in order to get across the hot sand to the loungers. The pool is large and well kept and you have access to the pool at the sister resort next door. This half of the resort is much newer and may fit your needs if you prefer more modern facilities. The two resorts sit side by side and you do not really feel that you are in two different resorts.Depending on the time of year there may be only one buffet open. Again it is right next door and not a long walk by any definition. There is plenty to choose from on the buffet and if you do not enjoy trying the local dishes there are plenty of choices reminiscent of North America. The omelette bar in the morning is excellent and I am able to get my fried eggs easy over without any issue. There is always a pasta bar for lunch and dinner if you want something cooked up fresh and it always has at least three different types of pasta to choose from. There is a snack bar with a wide variety of choices as well as the usual expected hamburgers and sometimes hot dogs. At dinnertime the snack bar is turned into the al la carte restaurants. They have 3 types to choose from and each night 2 of them are split between the restaurant. The servers at the restaurant are amazing and always make us feel welcome and special. I am attempting to learn Spanish and they help me and seem to appreciate the effort on my part. The entertainment staff are loads of fun and depending on the time of year the show may be in the large theatre area, the disco area or on the beach. There is lots to choose from during the day and the evening. We go for a walk everyday through the town of Sosua. We have always felt safe though you always have to use common sense in this area. One thing I will warn you about is the large number of "ladies of the evening" in Sosua. There have been times when my husband has been approached even though I am on his arm. We simply smile and say no gracias but to have a nice day.During the summer months the locals use the hotel and bus loads arrive. We rather enjoy this time and sit back and watch and have fun. It is important to make sure you have booked your al a carte for Friday and Saturday ahead of time so that you can have a quiet meal where you are not fighting any crowds. The locals are not given access to the al la carte. The nice thing about booking your al la cartes here is that you can book in advance not just for that day or the next and you simply go to the front desk.Right outside the front door of the resort is the town of Sosua. You will find independent tour guides waiting to obtain your visits. Look for Raymond - he wears an orange shirt, is tall and has a brilliant smile. He is amazing and we trust him without any qualms. I know the resorts strongly argue against using this route but we have never had any problems. We actually consider him and his family friends and keep in touch with them.I almost forgot to mention the 3 spas that line the cliff overlooking the ocean. Lounging in them with a rum is a truly relaxing and enjoyable part of our days. We usually end our day sitting on lounger scattered along the cliff top overlooking the ocean.
