I spent 11 days at Casa Marina in April 2017. Overall I had a wonderful time and met some fantastic new friends. The layout is beautiful with many lovely little spots to enjoy yourself without feeling overcrowed. The overall problem was the lack of staff. We always waited in lines for drinks, always. Usually there was one bartender only at the the beach bar serving the large pool guests, the 3 cool pools and the beach guests. I'm a pretty patient person, but it was annoying every time you had to go and get drinks! I felt bad for them because the bartenders were overworked and had no time to interact with guests. You felt as if you were a bunden to them. Also, the line up every day to get reservations for the Al la Carte restaurants was RIDICULOUS! One guy taking reservations and everyone has to wait 1 to 1 1/2 hours.THIS HAS TO BE REMEDIED. Yours guests are so annoyed by these 2 things! If there was more staff, this place could be sooooo much better. Management also needs to address the reserving of chairs around the pools. This is so annoying as well. Lounge chairs empty for hours and hours covered by someone's towel, while I see people wandering around looking for somewhere to lounge about. No Chair saving would be so much better. There are plenty of loungers for everyone. The buffets were fine, Mexican and Italian were fine, but the seafood restaurant was inedible. The bar only has fake sugary 'juices' so I stuck to beer. No fun cocktails. The ocean was quite rough most days, so we didn't get to swim in it much. The pool don't open until 9 a.m. which I found quite late and they close at 7!!! That was very disappointing! But if you go, check out the bar in town called the Jolly Roger. The owners are Canadian and fantastic hosts. I would not go back, but it is really lovely.
Just came back from Casa Marina Reef Resort, great vacation 🙌. Super clean resort , thanks to people like Reyes friendly and helpful crew 👍. Glass Bar bartenders,Juan,Marielka Reyes, Magdalena Rivera,Juana, professional and lots of fun . We stayed in room 846 , spectacular view, kept super clean thanks to Francisca 👍. Beach not as clean as the resort, supprised to pay 3$ US to rent Beach umbrellas 👎. Food v.good ,mild taste, special thanks to Yasin table service . Highly recommend Resort in affordable price 👍
We have the pleasure of staying at this resort for two weeks. We found the staff to be friendly but perhaps somewhat withdrawn. The room was fine, water pressure in consistent but tolerable. The food though a bit repetitive was fine and I always left the table content. The resort is very nice and yes, the lobby is small but we did not feel the need to hang out there anyway. Wifi is iffy but I was told that you can buy a sim and data card for 10 US and you can use your phone anywhere anytime, so I would go that route next time...and there will be a next time. Biggest problem was finding beach chairs, you have to get up early and set something on them to reserve it. Several pools and lots to do on the resort, but then you have the added benefit of being able to walk in to town which was great. Make sure you visit the Jolly Roger for an awesome time. Overall, I would recommend this resort, you get a lot for the price you pay.
I arrived April 12-19 with my wife and 3 kids ages 15,11,7 and we had a blast. We had rooms 2209, 2211 at the back of the building by the first buffet not much of a view but was easy access and no stairs. I wasn't planning on spending much time in my room, they are run down but not enough for me to complain (clean and tidy). Food is a bit repetitive but over all no complaints from kids the picky ones and the buffets are better than the a la carte. Staff is hit or miss especially bar tenders most are helpful and pleasant though. travels outside the resort in the general direction of Sosua beach are met with looky looky, cheapy cheapy and can get hard on the head and my wife hated it, as well did my two youngest daughters. If you stray farther the relentless assault softens and you can enjoy the sites of the town as my son and I explored everyday, I loved to explore and had a blast off resort with the oldest one my son, we'd go out twice a day in the morning and at night when the girls would go to the shows on resort. All in all for what we paid was a great vacation and will come back again to Sosua!
I had a great time at Casa Marina. The staff were helpful and courteous. The room and the grounds were clean. There were lots of flowers and greenery. The view of the ocean was spectacular. The pools were clean. The food and drinks were good. Thank you for a great vacation.
