Hotel is nice for a one night stay, but not for longer ...

The receptionist was really nice and friendly, so the first Impression was fine, but you can realize that the Hotel is a "few years old". The room was okay, but really small and dark. It would be great to have a few more lights.

Great location and good hotel

We stayed here for one night and it was fine. The staff was very helpful. We were hoping to get into our room an hour or two early, but it was not possible. The location was the best part of the hotel. It is right near everything that you want to see and do.The beds were comfortable, the bathroom was small, but it was fine.

Great location but could have potential issues with security

We stayed here for a couple of nights as a short weekend getaway. Value wise, it is pretty decent value for money. For example, the location of this place is perfect - it is literally 3-4 mins walk from the beach, 10 mins walk to the flower market and there are several decent sized convenience stores and shops the moment you leave the hotel so that you can pick up water, fruit, snacks or what have you. You are also surrounded by restaurants so if you don't fancy having breakfast in the hotel, there are plenty of other options to choose from. The rooms, however, are only okay - not good, not bad but okay. We unfortunately were put in a room that was right by the breakfast area. So from 5:00am onwards we could hear clinking and clanging of plates and glasses. This was quite frustrating as we'd be woken up by these sounds every morning. But the room decor is okay and beds are comfortable. The air conditioning works fine and the bathroom is of a decent size. It is clean and quite comfortable - very satisfactory. The ambience of the hotel reminds me a bit of a backpacker hotel (like a YHA?). So if you're expecting a luscious "ooh la la South of France romantic stay" then look elsewhere. It's a functional hotel for the purpose of sleeping and maybe lounging. The decor is quite tired and it is quite dark along the corridors. There was also a bathroom right next to our room for the guests who go for breakfast/have drinks in the lounge. Breakfast is pretty decent - muesli, cereal, cold meats, cheeses, yogurts, fruit, dried fruit, eggs etc. In fact, I think the variety is actually better than some of the other hotels in Nice of the same price range. The staff for the most part were okay - though some were not particularly friendly and often times, there were many different staff working at reception so we could never recognise any one staff nor they could us. We did not know there was a "happy time" until we read the others' reviews now. In fact, upon checking in, we were given bare minimum of details. We only got the wifi password because we asked for it. Not great.Which leads me to my concern: one night our room key card did not work. So we went downstairs to get it re-magnetised but found that it was yet another staff member who was working reception. So asking only for our room number but never having seen us before, he magnetised our key card. So my problem is, effectively anyone who has a key card can claim that they are staying in a certain room and the staff would not question it. And as it is always a different staff member on reception every time, how do the staff know we're actually a) guests at the hotel and b) that it is in fact our room? I'm pretty sure the staff don't memorise faces of our passports and I'm even more certain that they don't stare intently at the CCTV cameras in the corridors to familiarise themselves with guests' faces. With that said, maybe the hotel has this figured out already but usually when we stay somewhere the reception staff are always the same so they recognise the guests that are staying there. We've had problems with theft at a hotel once and so are now extremely vigilant with regards to how the hotel minimises and mitigates these risks. To sum it up, this is an okay hotel - but pretty decent value for money. The vibe is a bit "relaxed" and YHA-like but breakfast is pretty good and rooms are comfortable and clean (so long as you don't get the room next to the breakfast area). Location is its selling point and its proximity to shops and supermarkets are fantastic. But if the hotel can revamp its security and its look, it would be pretty good. I haven't made up my mind yet if I would stay here again but value for money-wise, if you wanted to stay here for less than 2 nights, Hotel de Flore is definitely a contender.

Happy trip

The room was small for a triple room and there was no bathroom slippers in the room even it is 4 star hotel. But the location was excellent, too close to everywhere. The service in the hotel was ok. The wifi connection in the rooms wasn't fast enough.

Great location and brilliant staff

We have stayed at this hotel twice in the past year and on the second occasion we brought friends with us. Although the decor is a bit tired, the hotel is due a complete make over this winter, it did not spoil our time there. The staff are friendly and enjoy a laugh and chat with guests. The happy time is a great bonus and a chance to meet other guests. Breakfast is plentiful, the public areas and rooms are clean but in need of a bit of updating, which is being addressed this winter. Although the rooms are small they have air-con and a fridge it is a French city centre hotel so it is all you need.
