Perfect location amazing stuff

My wife and I stayed in this lovely hotel for 3 nights in July 2017 . We were welcomed by the talented friendly madame (Salwa )at the reception , she was very friendly and helpful .The location very central near walking street and restaurant . I took us 5 mins walking to reach the beach. We loved the new Nespresso machine in the lobby :)

Hotel de Flore - average decline

The great:Location - Hotel de Flore is 250 m from the Promenade in the heart of the restaurant and bar life of Nice. It is better to be here than stay on the first line along the Promenade des Anglais with its busy traffic.Great grocery-fruit store literally next door. The good:Ice-cream in the lobbyMobile internet device that is provided by hotel. For a 1 Euro per day you can connect via this device to the unlimited and very fast mobile internetRecommendation to IT group: change the Wi-Fi network names on this device and the hotel. Right now they are same and phone sometime gets confused connecting to the local hotel network and forcing you to type password every time you do so.Not so good:The biggest suite in the hotel is really big by French standards, however it has many deficiencies. There are two identical air con units in the suite, one in the living room another one in the bedroom. As it is typical for the medium quality hotels in France the air conditioner does not work like it is supposed to in the Auto mode: cool to the desired temperature-shut down-start again when temperature gets warmer. Instead it constantly blows. The air conditioner in the bedroom was just plain dead. After it was reported to the hotel staff they were making surprised faces but, really guys, I guarantee they all know about that problem for long time. As Mr.Tsirepas sends email during the stay checking how the things are he also became concerned about not working air con. But, my guess is, the Hotel de Flore is in the investment declining mode. Frankly, I didn't even expect that any maintenance person would come. And they just proved me right. Nobody showed up - they likely know that the repair of this old unit would require more than just couple screwdriver taps. The suite has a nice balcony with furniture, big enough for two people to have a dinner there. The suite also has a kitchenette with the sink, fridge, microwave and even a stove. The problem is there is not single piece of anything related to serving food in that kitchenette: no knife, no glass, no plate, no fork, no nothing! To stock this unit would cost 100 Euros top.So, I bought knives, set of vine glasses, vine bottle opener (remember that store next door) and left it all in the kitchenette cabinets. I hope, next guests - being also generous, will continue to fill the kitchenette with cutlery and utensils. Huge bathroom - you literally can dance there (it is so big) but with the strangest setup of the bathtub-shower. Get rid of the bathtub already - I can't imagine nowadays a sober person taking a bath in such hotelsThere likely will be a copy-paste response from the hotel manager after my review, but don't take it serious. Broken dead bolt on the suite entrance door was mentioned several months ago and, guess what, it is still broken.I guess there were times when this hotel was kind of good but unfortunately it has not seen much reno beside some spot fixes for last how many years. It slides into conversation of "value-for-the-money" and eventually it will reach the dump description (not yet).It is definitely not a 4 star hotel by North American standards - but it is "good value for the money"

Excellent value, great location, comfortable room

Right in the heart of Nice, 2 blocks from the beach, 1/2 block from a lovely walking street. The room was comfortable and a terrific value. Staff were helpful when asked. And the price, all things considered, was terrific. .

Great hotel in Great location.

Hotel was in a perfect location. Easy walk to get to beach, easy walk to get to old town. Staff was extremely nice and most helpful. Able to give advise and directions. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Breakfast was good. Coffee and small ice cream treats were always available. At 6pm each day, a happy hour with small bites and wine was lovely.

Equivalent of a nicer motel - not a boutique hotel

Be aware that this is NOT a boutique hotel, if by "boutique hotel" you are expecting a smallish hotel that has a unique sense of style or some other special attribute. In terms of accommodations, this is more akin to a higher-end motel. My "suite" was fairly large and pretty clean, but oddly shaped and very cheaply and sparsely furnished, with a bit of an ant problem by the balcony door. While I never heard any noise from the hallway or other rooms, there was a ton of outdoor construction noise all night long - might've just been my bad luck on that count. I also did not have a working phone in the room - there was no dial tone, and the front desk didn't try to fix it. I had a mobile, so I could call out in an emergency, but it meant that if I wanted to talk to the front desk, I had to take the elevator down four floors to talk in person. On the positive side, the location is good (it's close to shops and restaurants, 15-minute walk to the train station, across the street from a supermarket). The front desk staff was very friendly and tried to be helpful, but they were understaffed - there was only one person working the hotel at a time, so if a guest were checking in/out, there was no one else around to help with anything.I was there the weekend of the F1 Grand Prix, so they doubled their prices to around 440 Euros - a luxury price for a bargain-basement product. My last night there was down to 220 Euros, which was more in line with what was on offer. In short, though, while my experience there wasn't terrible, it's probably worth spending more on something nicer.
