Decent hotel

The space is much bigger than the one in Paris and Marseille. Clean and tidy. The Hotel is located close to the Promenade des Anglais, just walk out the hotel, turn left and cross the road. A lot of restaurant will be located to the right hand side of the hotel entrance. If you like Hard Rock Cafe, just turn right before you cross the road for the Promenade des Anglais. Department stores are also located nearby when you walking up the slope. A police station is also within 5 minutes walk from the hotel.Suggest not to walk down the road to the hotel from the railway station of Nice if you got luggage. I tried this and it takes around 15-20 minutes. Try to get rooms with sea view.

Nice stay in Nice.

Hotel staff : Welcoming and friendly.Hotel room : Fair size, big bed, clean room, wi-fi signal not that strong.Breakfast : Hot food not that great if you are a vegetarian. Only scrambled eggs. Location : Perfect for getting around and close to the centre.

Rather hostel

I have booked this hotel because of its location just at the beach front. The view from my room 328 is only one thing that I can really designate as really perfect and amazing. Now the minuses:1) ParkingIt is written that there is the indoor public parking close to hotel. It is true. But what is not noted that the allowed height of car is limited to 1.8 m (my Peugeot Partner from car rental was about 2 cm above.) After half of hour struggling I found the parking with acceptable height 1.9, see attached map.2) Air conditionPossibly my bad luck, in my room was the heating/air condition damaged it has produced warm air all the time even switched off. At evening we did not mention it, the warm room was pleasant, I have discovered this issue at night when I tried set the night temperature. Mo chance - we have had open the window - rather small balcony door. Promenade Anglais is whole night very noisy, moreover entrance to casino was just bellow our window. Happy drunk people made our night unforgettable...3) No restaurant, no bar. I have got voucher (only one even we were couple!) for free welcome drink as usual for platinum Accor card holder. When I have asked where is a bar, receptionist gave me the chance to select one doze of beer from very limited offer from their fridge.....4) Absolutely not polite behavior of the staff. Receptionist at evening was fine but morning staff was terrible. No greeting, no smile. I decided not complain about the heating because it was seen that I would bother the lady from reception in discussion with cleaning lady. This cleaning lady has decided to block one from two lifts at 9:00 morning with "absolutely urgent" cleaning and made quite nice order of hotel guests waiting for only one working lift.5) Room design. From the first view it looks very modern and nice but in fact this design of hotel room is absolutely not practical. The washbowl just behind the bad. No chance to switch the light in shower only, you must switch on the lights in whole room. So after nigh visit of toilet you definitely disturb your partner, same with morning shower. This room layout I know from IBIS budged hotels (Etap), definitely not acceptable in Mercure level of hotels. So - very expensive hostel with excellent view.I will never repeat my visit there.

Medal to the staff

The Mercure Nice Promenade des Anglais is some old standard. But this been made up by some amazing and friendly staff. The break fast was fair enough. The room clean and tidy. Though the bed was hard and difficult to sleep in, the wifi signal was poorly. Despite some minor flaws the staff did their very best to give me a memorable stay during my Nice-Cannes marathon. I`ll be back also next year :).

Superb location, and a good property!

We stayed at this hotel in the last week of October into November 2016. We had a great time here as the location is mind blowing and the prices are comparably reasonable. The hotel is right opposite the Promenade. We had booked the Partial Sea View room with an extra bed for a child. The rooms were spacious enough with enough storage places. Simply stand in the balcony in the mornings and watch the city of Nice come alive. The mattress was simply awesome, slept sound all nights except one when the neighbours made too much noise. The neighbours were incidentally with us so couldn't complain about them :) Having said that, the walls are too thin and that's always a problem, no matter which hotel you are in.The bathroom was a bit of a let down with the stand-in shower in the tub with partial glass covering thereby causing the water to spill out on the floor. The staff was very accommodating right from the day we checked in. Marko, who checked us in, was remarkably helpful. We didn't see him after that but almost all the staff members always had a smile and were ready to help. The kids loved the reception area with the candy bowl. The use of cheap plastic glasses in the rooms was not appreciated. Many broke while opening the plastic packaging. It's environmentally damaging to use disposable plastic glasses everyday for all rooms, 4 in each. 😠The breakfast is not much to talk about but there is a great cafe Balthazar right opposite the hotel, which serves great breakfast. All in all, a good hotel at a great location.
