Booked and paid for, but no room available upon check in

This is the worst hotel ever. I have my room booked and paid for already, and upon check in, front desk informs me that the hotel is over booked and there is no empty room for me. It's unacceptable when the room is fully paid for and yet I don't get any rooms for my first night. But since there is nothing I can do , I asked to check whether there will be a room for me on the following day. The answer was that they cannot check and I just have to come to the front desk to ask day by day. As I am here on business trip, I am able to crash with my colleagues for the night and hotel rooms are dirty, old and dimly lit. Stains are all over the carpet and sofa. No complimentary housekeeping for the first 7 days of your stay, and towel cleanliness is sup par. I strongly advise anyone to stay away from this hotel unless you want to arrive this hotel and only to be sent to the streets.

No air conditioning units in place, but they will lie to you about it

If you want a detailed description of this place, read the previous review.I'm here because we were repeatedly lied to by the Hotel's employees. As soon as we arrived on Saturday morning we complained that he rooms were very warm and that the air ducts blew warm air; we were told that since it was a weekend the technician would not be coming until Monday! So we opened the windows hoping for some cool air to get into the room, but Paris was hot that week (98° F / 37° C) and we had a really bad couple of nights.Sunday we complained again, as did many other guests who were told that the air conditioners would be fixed soon.Monday came, we were told that the technician would be coming early and that everything would be fixed by the time we came back. When we returned we were told that the technician came and we just missed him and that he had fixed the system but that it would take a while for our rooms to get cold because the water in the units needed to get cold (?).Later that day my youngest son was looking at reviews for hotels and stumbled across Google Maps' description for this hotel which stated that they did not have air conditioning, so the last reviewer here at Tripadvisor that complained about the AC was also lied to.Now with the knowledge that they do not have AC I confronted the person at the reception and he finally admitted that they do not have AC, they have an evaporative air cooling system which blows air that passes through cool water; these type of systems only work in dry cool environments and that week, Paris was hot and humid.Problem was that we paid in full beforehand so they would not return our money, and the best we got was a transfer to another of their properties which supposedly had AC (this is a review for another day) But this move happened on Tuesday and we suffered extremely high temperatures for 3 nights! All the other guests were constantly lied to and were under the impression that the AC would soon be fixed! The poor souls.I will never, ever, ever stay at an Adagio Hotel (Accor)Furthermore, I will make it my life's mission to tell as many people as possible about my story and get them to promise me to tell others.

How things have changed

This was our second stay at this property - the previous when it was a Citadines Prestige about 10 years ago.Unfortunately the standards have dropped, and there was not one piece of fabric in the apartment that was unstained, except for the bed sheets thankfully. The carpet, sofa, and all upholstered chairs were covered in stains and looked very dirty and worn - all need urgent replacing, and once replaced they need to be regularly cleaned. The sofa was so stained that we pulled out the sofa bed and left it out for 3 days, as the sheet on the sofa bed was clean! Even though it was June, and very humid in Paris, the air conditioning was turned off - we were informed it would be turned on on the 4 June but that was the first day we arrived and it was still not turned on when we left three days later. On a positive note, we still loved the huge size of apartments, the kitchen facilities, bathrooms and location, as well as the easy access to two mono prix supermarkets so we could self cater. As other reviewers have stated there is no hotel like service - no one helped with our suitcases, and it's important to note that there are around ten steps between the hotel lobby and elevators, so this is not easy for luggage or for people who have difficulty with steps.Unfortunately we will not be returning to stay here, nor will we continue to recommend to others.

Great experience!

This property is in a fantastic location with Metro access at two nearby points. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room while in need of a little updating was very well cared for and spacious. When we were there renovations on the upper floors had already commenced. The small kitchen was fully stocked with all you could need to prepare meals. There is a Picard just around the corner which we made good use of for eating many meals in our rooms. The rooms that face Boulevard Haussmann have a small balcony and great views. Parc Monceau is just a brief, enjoyable stroll from the hotel also. We would stay here again, absolutely. Highly recommend to anyone.

Great location, convenient access, great amenities

Located on Blvd. Hausmann, 5 min walk to Metro station, 15 min. to major stores, yet on a relatively quiet part of the 8th arrond. Our room had a little balcony over the city. Comfortable bed, good wifi, spacious bathroom and fully equipped mini-kitchen. My only gripe was the poor lighting in the kitchen. Staff was courteous and helpful.
