Outer doors (to the street) are always locked, we had a little struggle to get buzzed in, not sure why. Huge and impressive reception/lounge area. Checkin was quick and pleasant. At the far end of the huge lounge there were 2 push-button machines for various types of coffees and hot chocolate (very watery, terrible, at least when we tried it - the chocolate powder tends to clog in these machines and needs frequent, more than daily, clearing out, which these machines obviously were not getting). Coffee here was better than at the lower class Les Halles branch we had stayed in the previous weekend. Everything was better here but we had only paid 190€ per night for a spacious studio there while we were paying 360€ per night for a cramped 1-bedroom with river view here. (A comparable but slightly smaller studio here would be 220€ - or 230€ for a quieter studio - both without river view.)Our rooms were better furnished here and the river view was a permanent delight that we did not leave enough time to fully enjoy, given our nonstop itinerary. Great location 50m from the Pont Neuf and 5 minutes from Notre Dame. Good wifi.A sofabed and 2 modern armchairs in the living space surrounded a long stool serving as a coffee table and to the side was a smallish flatscreen TV on the wall, and some kind of miniature music system we never tried. There were 4 sockets for charging. The small dining/kitchenette space had a narrow writing desk and a dining chair with arms. There were 2 fold out chairs in one of the 2 narrow wardrobes but we ended up using those for our smaller suitcases. There was also a small pullout table under the writing desk that we used for our large suitcase but that left us with no dining space, so we had to eat at the sofa.Kitchenette had sink, small fridge, 2 burner cooker/stove, microwave, kettle, and a toaster in a cupboard. Work/counter space was limited. There was a small dishwasher and adequate crockery and cutlery. There were a few pans, including a frying pan, and just enough kitchen tools and serving dishes/bowls to prepare and serve a light meal but not for serious cooking. (But who does real cooking on a short visit to Paris?)There was 1 kitchen towel but no sponge and the bottle of washing up liquid had been watered down so much that the liquid was clear and barely produced a bubble. We had to use the liquid from the bottle fixed next to the shower, instead.Bedroom was narrow, with those toy-sized bedside tables we dislike so much. Bed was comfortable enough, unlike the hard bed in the Les Halles Citadines that gave me backache. On one side of the bed the roof sloped, not ideal unless you are a midget. There was another smallish flatscreen TV on the wall opposite the bed. There was one socket for charging but hidden behind a bedside table. No clock - now missing in most places, so we pack one permanently (with a low light behind the numbers, so we can know what time it is if we wake in the middle of the night). We now also permanently pack a door wedge/stopper because a chain for the main door is also now missing in most places.Bathroom was a reasonable size with toilet, handbasin and a welcome corded shower over the bath (too often missing in many places, so always appreciated). Handbasin drained easily and properly - the only one of our last 6 hotels that did. There was a welcome box of tissues fixed to the wall. Water pressure in the bath/shower was inadequate so we basically just washed bits at a time. Maid service is weekly unless you pay extra but there was a room off reception with fresh towels, which were reasonable quality and quite soft.Lighting was adequate throughout. All furniture was on the small side, so as not to overpower the small size of the 2 rooms. While the hotel claimed the size of this apartment to be 43sqm, this total must have included the huge structural building columns that took up about a quarter of the total space (somewhat misleading, don't you think?). Or perhaps, as we had a top floor apartment, they are more cramped than lower floors? The description also claims "separated toilet" but it was not - perhaps for the same reason? On our last morning we requested a late checkout but, even though we are members, which entitles you at least to serious consideration of the request, Gabriela (the so-called "guest services officer" who had left us a welcome letter at checkin) gave an abrupt "NO". Apparently no late checkouts are available at any time! In response to a request to store in their fridge some fois gras we had just bought on our last morning - NO again. So much for goodwill. They claimed to be full, which was clearly untrue (they really think guests can't tell?!). This attitude is an indication of poor management, as was the missing bedside table on arrival, which thankfully was fairly quickly replaced.[PS At 4pm that day we checked online and many rooms, at all grades, were available for the same night. Again, why tell guests such a stupid, easily disprovable lie like "we're full"?]The hotel is geared to business travellers so others are at the bottom of the food chain as far as customer service is concerned. We have only given 3/5 because we consider it poor value for money, with basically 3* furnishing and 3 1/2* bathroom (and no bidet). We would rate this place overall at 3 1/2* and have rounded down to 3 due to their unhelpful, even rude, attitude on our last morning (and should have given them just 1* for the lying). We would have rounded it up to 4 had we been given a late checkout.
The location of the hotel is excellent. The services provided are very good, for a business stay. After all you really don't need to have your room cleaned everyday and if you do you can only ask (and pay the cost).
If you compare it to the size of a normal Parisian hotel room, the room is quite large. This is coupled with the friendly staff, clean rooms, and amazing location. Situated across the road from Notre Dame, but down the road just enough to avoid the crazy crowds, I was so thrilled to have this location. Easy access to metro, RER, and bus connections, plus you can essentially walk to most sights in 15-20 minutes. The staff was professional and friendly, got me right into the room and explained everything in the surrounding neighborhood very well, including where to shop for groceries. With a small kitchen, you can make your own breakfast and I would recommend that. The breakfast was included in my rate and is in a cramped, crowded breakfast room, mostly populated by people on business trips. The quality of the breakfast food was sub-standard (powdered eggs??? Wow.) So don't buy the breakfast and use the kitchen in your room. The wifi signal was very strong and always reliable. I would stay here again any time.
We stayed in a studio in the seven floor, we usually like the Citadines, in this case it was a normal studio smallest than other floors, becouse it was the last floor and the roof like attic near the bed was uncomfortable, when you get up may hit your head. But the lobby and services were great, tea and coffe free, near Latin quartier, Notre Dame, Saint German, restos, bars, shooping and supermarkets. The restaurants in Latin quartier are cheap, and they are open until midnight, rue Saint Andre des Arts with bistro, bars and nice people. I really recommended, but don t accept last floor
We had two rooms (family of five) - location was excellent, rooms were clean but basic, best wifi the kids have had for the whole trip. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Would certainly recommend to check out.
