We booked this room for three adults. We were put in the very back of the second hotel, Valadon Colors. We had to walk in the front door and out the back door then drag the suit cases up a flight of stairs. We were in a separate building from the main part of Valadon colors in a very private, secluded room. We were in "chamber 1". The room was very small. One of us slept on a very uncomfortable small bed. Worst of all was the bathroom. You had to walk down a flight of very narrow spiral stairs to get to the bathroom. There was no shower curtain or door for the shower. No privacy at all. The room was very hot. We couldn't get the room temperature to adjust. We called the front desk and someone came over. He played with the dials and said he fixed it and It would cool off in five minutes. It never cooled off. We ended up propping the door open and opening the windows to try and get some air in there and cool it off. The location was great. We walked to the Eiffel Tower. There was a Main Street close by with taxis and public transportation. Plenty of places to eat very close by, plus a grocery store across the street. The best part was a little street behind the hotel. It had fruit markets, crepe cafe, souvenir shop, even a post office. The room was clean. It worked for us but I think we would have been happier in a different room.
We stayed here at the recommendation of a friend who is a seasoned traveler who has stayed at the hotel on numerous occasions. Though the rooms are small by American standards, they are well-appointed and spotlessly clean. They could use a few more shelves or a bigger closet but we managed by living partly out of our suitcase. The staff was very helpful with recommendations for restaurants and giving us directions and breakfast offered a decent selection of cereal, eggs, pastries, yogurt and fruit to help start off our day. My only complaint is that despite having sent an email advising them NOT to send a car to pick us up, they did so anyway and we wound up unintentionally taking their car rather than the one we DID book which not only was embarrassing having to eventually explain to the driver we unknowingly stood up but cost us 20 euros more. Eiffel Tower, Army & Rodin museums in walking distance, metro a 3 minute walk, hotel is around the corner from the rue de cler and many cafes, shops etc.
room is spacious, clean and nicely arranged. The staff is friendly and ready to help.In the lobby of the hotel is a shop of handmade chocolate and macaroni. Sweets are fantastic taste. delightful hotel near the Eiffel Tower .in the streets around the hotel you can eat delicious French pastries and drink coffee in one of the small cafes. This is a delayed feedback .We traveled in October 2012 ....
Hotel du Cadran once again was an excellent choice! The rooms are beautiful and immaculately clean. I am so sorry that I did not get the name of the front desk young woman who was there every day except the morning we left! Oh so helpful and we had several chats in the lobby-makes it a more personal experience. Many thanks for the bottle of champagne!! The location in the Rue Cler is my favourite! I will recommend this lovely place to clients, friends and family. And most importantly, I will return A bientôt!
I was excited for booking this hotel after all of the positive reviews. I must say, I was disappointed. The location of the hotel was great. Close to shops, nightlife, markets. The Eiffel Tower is only a 10 minute walk. However, there are many things to consider. The location also made it extremely noisy and hard to sleep at night. There is only one elevator that screeches, so not only were you having to wait, but it sounded like it could get stuck at any time. The staff wasn't very helpful. Almost hesitant in speaking and answering questions. You couldn't purchase any tickets or anything for attractions from the hotel like you can do in most major travel cities. And the wifi was absolutely terrible. The hotel does have great character in its styling and historic structure. Aside from that, I probably wouldn't stay there again.
